" The best and cheapest pennyworth of popular literature ever produced."— T/ ie Times. Orders now received at all Booksellers and the Bookstall?. DAYS OF OPPORTUNITY. " When Jesus- was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace ! but now they are hid from thine eyes." Infinitely sol* urn, infinitely pathetic words ! " This, thy day." Let us think individually over our days cf opportunity. 1. Day of Grace. Satan says " to- morrow." God says " to- day." Have we not heard it, often. " Behold, now is the accepted time." Do we not know that after each warning, God's grace may never be so near us again 1 That we know not what a day may bring forth ? That, in any case, by delay, we are losing present blessing ? 2. Day of Preparation. Do we not take infinite pains to lay up strength and knowledge and experience for our after life here 1 and for Eternity are we laying up treasure for ourselves, that shall be corrupt and perish ; or are we rich towards God 1 3. Day of Service. All who embrace opportunity of grace are called to service. " I must work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day ; the night cometh when no man can work." So spake the Master. Let us listen, and be up and doing. If we sleep in spring, we cannot sow in summer. A day of reckoning awaits each worker. Be faithful, be vigilant; spend each day as if it were the last. 4. Day of Health Oh, it is hard for a captain in a storm to say exactly where his ship is ; hard for the pilot to steer into a narrow passage ; and is it not hard in days of pain to say where in the great ocean of spiritual condition our souls are 1 Hard in time of suffering to steer our souls into the narrow way. 5 Day of special Divine In- fluence. We see the young ruler standing by the One who could solve all his doubts, answer all his questions, meet all his needs, hesitating. We know not how it ended with him, we know how it will end for us if we go on halting between two opinions. 6. Day of choice between good and evil, and that is every day. Whether it may be in most solemn things, or in very small every day things, we are continually making decisions. " Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." " So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Now MAY'S BRITISH Ready, price One Shilling. FIFTEENTH TEAR. AND IRISH PRESS GUIDE FOR 1 8 B S .
