FIREPROOF DEPOSITORIES. VICTORIA STATION, S. W-, BRIGHTON, and PARIS— 30, BOULEVARD DES ITALIENS- TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEAD! Isaiah uses these words, " A helmet of salvation upon his head." Christ came • with such a protection that all the evil and wickedness of earth and hell could not strike through. I deserved the stroke of God, but Jesus received it. He was stricken, smitten of God, and I escaped, so He became my Helmet of Salvation. St. Paul says, " Take the Helmet of Salvation "— it is a personal matter—" take it." Don't try to do without it. Our thoughts, beliefs, doctrines want the helmet of Salvation, or they will soon be damaged. If a policeman's head is protected he can protect others, so his helmet is the helmet of other people's salvation too. Had you once for a helmet the hope of salvation ? and have you lost your hope ? The devil has knocked your helmet off, but do not despair, put it on again, the old helmet is as good as ever. If we begin to doubt our pardon, to question God's faithfulness, to allow sin, there is danger— we are unhelmeted. I don't believe the Lord gives us a silk hat to be worn on Sundays, and then put away in a band- box. No, the helmet of salvation is meant to be worn, worn daily, worn through all danger. Some say " Salvation is only good for women." Well, I wish every police- man's wife had it; but it is not a bonnet— it is good for men as well— it is not a flimsy thing, but a helmet that will stand knocking about, hard- hitting, brick- bats. Sometimes in a riot a helmet- is kicked about, but such are enemies, and so is every one who lifts his foot against God's Salvation. Only fools and foes kick His helmet, wise men wear it; it is not a football, neither is it a nightcap. Some seem to think hjmns are only to sing babies to sleep with, but some hymns are battle- songs. " O God the Lord, the strength of my Salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle "— Ps. cxl., 7. ' Cover my defenceless head With the shadow of Thy wing." W. L. FREDK. L. MAY & CO., ?
