MT All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed lo the Inlsp'ectbr- Genera^,- Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated, by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Swom; but it is not nectssary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Huo- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the oovers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requt i to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < tc., and of any circumstance rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of HENRY HARKINS ( mother's surname Harkins), native of Braid, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of May, 1888, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Glenwherry, assaulted by stabbing one George Cissick:— Deeply pockpitted, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, small face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black soft hat, dark frock coat, dark cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of SINON CASEY ( mother's surname Meaney), and MICHAEL GALVIN ( mother's surname Casey), natives of Kilrush, who stand charged with having, on the 25th April, 1888, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilrush, unlawfully assaulted one Thomas O'Brien, and robbed him of the sum ot £ 18 15 « .:— 1. Gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 35 years of age : wore a soft hat, gray coat, tweed trowsers and vest, is a car- driver. 2. Slightly lame, rowdy looking, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a hard hat, black coat, brown trowsers and vest, is a carpenter. Description of PATRICK DONOHUE, MARY ANNE DONOHUE, and MARY DONOHUE, natives of Limerick city, wbo stand charged with having, on the 4th day of May, 1888, in the barony of Condon and Clongibbons, parish of Fermoy, severely assaulted, beaten, and inflicted grievous wounds on Mary Ryan:— 1. Gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, active make, 5 feet 8 inches high about, 45 years of age ; wore a black hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a " gambler." 2. Description of JAMES MAWN, native of Roo, who stands charged with having, on the 4th day of June, 1888, in tho barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Killinagh, stolen a cow the property of Jane Tubman, Thornhill, which has been recovered:— Gray tender eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, shived face, except small moustache, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 o. 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray frock coat, dark trowsers, torn at knee, and dark vest; is a labourer. ^ Swanlinbar, 7th June, 1883. Description of THREE MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 20th May, 1888, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, assaulted and forcibly taken a six chamber revolver from John Quirke, caretaker to W. N. Leader, Esq., J. P.:— 1. Fresh complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair, no beard; wore a white tweed two- peaked cap, whitish gray tweed coat. 2. Long nose, dark complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 9i inches high, about 29 years of age, black hair, no whiskers or beard; wore a black soft hat, black pilot coat. 3. Long nose, fair complexion, very plump face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 34 or 35 j years of age, black hair, black side whiskers; wore a ; hard black hat, black frieze coat, black trowsers. Description of EDWARD ELLIS, native of Knocknashangan, who stands charged with having, on the ' 2nd of June, 1888, in the barony of Tyrhugh, parish of Kilbarron, assaulted Francis M'Cawley, by striking him on the head with a stick, and robbed him of a purse which contained 15s.:— Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 ii ches high, about 24 years of » ge, dark brown hair, small black moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore a two- peaked cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; walks with a stiff military gait; is a discharged soldier. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 18th May, 1888, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Kill, being suspected of entering the house of Mrs. Elsner, and stolen spoons, & c., of the value of about £ 3 :— Round shoulders, largo mouth, small thic moustache, large nose, coarse broad face, short set make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore an old gray coat, begging when observed. Description of A PERSON, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 30th or morning of 31st May, 1888, in the barony of Kilcullen, parish of Kilcullin, stolen an ass, cart, and harness:— Red tender eyes, sharp nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair, sandy beard cut short; wore a black short coat; is a tramp. Description of PETER FARRELL and CHRIS- TOPHER CONNOLLY, natives of Cloncumber, who stand charged with having, on the 10th day of May, 1888, in the barony of Connell, parish of Kilmeague, seriously assaulted Robert Nevins:— 1. Narrow shoulders and awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a dark eoat, moleskin trowsers, and dark vest; is a boatman on Grand canal. Was convicted in Dublin about 9 months since, of stabbing, and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment. Has a brother residing in James's- street, Dublin. Warrants in hands of Police. Description of HENRY BRENNAN ( mother's surname Butler), and JOHN SADDLER ( mother's surname Blaney), natives of Cahirronlish, who stand charged with having, on the 12th Jim-, 1888, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish ot Ballybrood, seriously assaulted Patrick Connolly, by striking him on the head with a stick, thereby placing his life in danger:— 1. Bhte or gray eyes, regular nose, freckled complexion, long fa: e, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 24 years of ago, brown hair; wore a gray tweed coat, tro wsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Ligbt brown eyes, thin rose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, browu hair, gray tweed coat, trowsers, aryl vest; is a road contractor. Description of WILLIAM KENNEDY ( mother's surname Bridget Keane), native of Doon, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1888, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted William Leahy, by striking him on the head with a stone, and fracturing his skull, and who has since died from the effects of the injuries received : — Black eyes, hooked nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, black hair; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, black sorge saok coat, jray tweed trowsers ( broken about the knees), gray tweed vest j is a carpenter. Description of SAMUEL BLAIR alias JOHN WILLIAMSON, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 20th May, 188S, in the barony of North West Liberties, parish of Templemore, committed a burglary in the house of Messrs. Cosgrove and Connor, Biship- street, Londonderry :— Tattooed with a bracelet, anchor, and shield on fore- arm, and square, compass, Ac., on back of hands, gray eyes, flat nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest. Courtney, (' mother's surname Berrill), native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 14th day of May, 1888, in the barony of Ferrard, parish of St. Peter's, absconded from his employment taking with him the sum of £ 8, the property of his master Mr. Thomas Jordan, of Drogheda:— Bow legs, dark eyes, long nose, dark complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of ago, dark hair ; wore a round jerry hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a pawnbroker's assistant. Description of MICHAEL NEAFSEY, native of Aughamore, Ballyhaunis, who stands charged with having, on the 30th May, 1888, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Beken, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Conville, Ballyhaunis, and stolen a sum of money, recovered;— Dark carbuncles on face, down looking, brown eyes, cocked nose, dark sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 ya * rs of age, dark hair ; is a harvest man. Description of PETER POTTERTON, ( mother's surname Connell), native of Kildalkey, county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 30th April, 1888, in the bar. my of Lune, parish of Kildalkey, broken into the dwelling- house of James Rooney, Kildalkey, and stolen therefrom a suit of tweed, & c,, value £ 1 :— Rather stooped shoulders, walks with a swaggering gait, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair, moustache and short side whiskers ; wore a round hard hat, gray tweed coat, whitish trowsers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of JAMES DOWD, charged with the larceny of £ 10 from his uncle, Michael Kenny:— blue or gr- iy eyes, rath r cocked nose, rather sallow but sunburned complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, 20 years of age, dark hair ( almost black), small and rather fair moustache, is sullen looking; wore a rusty brown tweed suit, and it is believed a felt hat; is a servant boy. Will probably endeavour to emigrate. Warrant in hands of District Inspector at Easkey. Easkey, 3rd June, 1888. DAVY, supposed native of Greyfort, and a MAN, name unknown, supposed native of Greyfort, who stands charged with having, on tLe morning of 23rd April, 1888, in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, broken into the houso of Owen Lavin, of Carrowrielly, and intimidated bim by threats and violence :— ). Hazel eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long fac<", medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard black felt hat, and dark tweed clothes, is a farmer's son. ^^ 2. Description of THOMAS GORMAN, native of Cahir, who stands charged with having, on the 1 Oth day of May, 1888, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, parish of Cahir, assaulted the police :— May have scratches or marks on face and head, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair, wears all his beard which is fair and short; wore a dark tweed coat, dark brown trowsers, dark vest; is a soldier. O'BRIEN, native of Knockaginny, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd May, 1888, in the barony of Lower Dungannon, parish of Carnteel, set fire to a dwelling- house, the property of Thomas Callaghan, at Aughnacloy, county Tyrone:— Leans forward when walking, delicate appearance, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a black overcoat, black cloth trowsers, and vest; is of weak intellect, and addicted to dripk ; is a suspended R. C. Clergyman. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of R. I. Con- stabulary, Aughnacloy. Aughnacloy, May 20, 1888. ( 88630 c,— 51998.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, 6 Division. Description of KATE KIERNAN, wanted here on Warrant, for child desertion :— About 20 years of age, medium height and make, light brown hair, delicate appearance, birth mark on one of her arms, dressed in black skirt, long black jacket, black fur cape, and black hat; is a native of the county Meath; is a servant by occupation, and was in service with a lady in Oldtown, county Dublin, up to 18th ultimo. Information to- Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for her arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. 8th June, 1888. ( 163 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of the 2nd June, 1888, at 5 o'clock, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School at county Wicklow:— JOHN MURPHY, 1995, about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair and freckled complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage ; mole near his right ear. Formerly belonged to Knpckaneasy, Broadway, county Wexford. Parents reside at Bun- carrick, Broadway, county Wexford. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap ( SSotch make), strong nailed boots. The Mtnager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and. will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. " ( 161 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict SAMUEL BLAIR, A 790, who has broken the conditions of his licence, convicted at Belfast, county Antrim, on 7th December, 1883, for burglary 3 counts, and larceny 1 count, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, in each case sentences concurrent:— 19 years of age on conviction, single, is a sailor, born in Londonderry, resided before conviction at Belfast, hie friends reside at Londonderry; light brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make,, 5 feet 2J inches high, bracelet, anchor, and shield on left forearm, square, compass, and dot back of left hand, ring'on l<- ft middle finger and little finger, square and compass ai d dot, on back of right land. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison Licence, the 16th February, 1888, and went to Belfasl? lie engaged as a sailor in a ship bound for America, on 30th ult., got £ 1 from the Captain to buy clothes, TEE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AWD- CRY, JUNE 19, 1888. bnt failed to turn up on the 5th inst., when the ship saik^ md his present whereabout* is unknown. flHie event of his arrest he should be dealt with uncEr the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. Description of WILLIAM POTTER, wanted here on Warrant for having stolen on the 11th instant, from the ship " Speedy Row," now lying in the Alexander Basin, one suit of clothes, one pair sea boots, two guns, one telescope, and tho sum of 18s., property of the Master of said ship:— He Is a sailor, a native of Dublin, and about 48 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, stooped shoulders, wears all his beard, which is dark turning gray, and the middle finger of one of his hands wants a joint; dressed when last seen in a short gray monkey jacket, dark trowsers, and Scotch cap. Stolen or strayed on the evening of the 8th instant, from the Royal Barracks, Dublin, FRANCIS CLARKE, aged 3 years and 4 months, dressed in a blue serge sailor suit, full face, blue eyes, fair hair, has a " small birth mark on back near shoulders. Tho above reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the child, and the prosecution of the person who has it unlawfully in his possession, on application to its father, Band Sergeant Francis Clarke, Royal Lancaster Regiment, Roynl Barracks, Dublin. Description of HENRY MARTIN, wanted here on Warrant, for having unlawfully received by false pretences the sum of £ 1 with intent to defraud:— Ho is about 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, square shoulders, fair hair turning gray, no whiskers, slight moustache, fresh complexion, reddish face ; dressed in black jacket and twead trowsers. He left Dublin about six weeks ago, and it appears went to Belfast of which town he is a native.
