Tiojsri All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be ' inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not nocesasMy to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will bo inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is Bought on a obarge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issueo, sr. d by tho name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of tbi* nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- aud- Cry, it will be necessary to forward on3 of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thii Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, tfco., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of GEORGE M'DONNELL ( mother's surname Boyd) native of Ballyminster, near Ahoghill, who stands charged with naving, on the 25th Decem- ber, 1887, at Castletown, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, committed a' rape, for which offence he was bailed to appear and take his trial at Belfast Assises, on 15th March, 1888, but failed to do so :— Burn mark on one side of nock, not known which, mark of old cut on top of head, smart active appearance; dark eyes, long nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, black hair, slight dark mousMche ; wore a dark tweed cap, gray tweed coat, trowscrs, and vest, much worn ; is a labourer. Tho District Inspector at Ballymena holds a warrant for his arrest. Ballymena, April 4, 1888. ( 85840 505 10.) Description of ROBERT R. MATHEWS ( mother's eurnanu; Henry), native of Ballymena, who stands charged with having, on the 15th March, 1888, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, fraud- ulently produced to Colonel Richard M. Studdert, Auditor for the Local Government Board, a bank pass- book, purporting to be the pass- book between the Guardians of Ballymena Union, and the Belfast Bunk, to which book tho name of William A. Young, Esq., Chairman of said Guardians, was forged, whereby u fraud of about £ 700 has been committed on the Guardians:— Smart active appearance, slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers, brown eyes, long nose, , ialo sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore Isrbrown tweed coat, trow.- ers, and vest, and gray dust coat; is a Clerk to Poor Law Guardians. The District Inspector at Ballymena holds a Warrant lor his arrest. Ballymena, March 265, ' 8 8 8 . ( 87372 0— 49929). Description of JAMES ROBINSON, native of High Town, near Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 26th February last, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, • foloniously broken into the Wolfhill Mill, at Wolfhill, in the county of Antrim, and stolen therefrom a number of knives, and one sovereign, the property of the workers in said Mill:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 17 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap with tv. o peaks, dark twoed cost, trowsers, and vest; is a millworker. Description of EDMOND GAW, mother's surname, Gault, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 8th May, 1887, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, feloniously set fire to a certain shed with intent to injure, and having been indicted at Summer Assizes, 1887, he has since failed to appear and a Bench Warrant has been issued for his apprehension:— Has lost a finger of left hand, long neck, slightly drooped shouhie. s ; grapM^ Vfet long nose, pale complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, when last seen} is a^ ar. n bundler, a keeling master, a cabinet maker, a carver, and a French polisher. Description of JAMES LYNCH, native of Drom- colloher, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 15th January, 1888, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Kilbolane, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl, between the age of 13 and 16 years:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is black and bristly, dark eyes, short nose, red complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a low hard hat, very lor. g skirt coat, moleskin trowsers and vest; is a mason. Description of MARYANNE, alias BRIDGET KELLY ( mother's name, Brennan, residingat 51, Lower Mecklenburgh- street, Dublin; she also has an aunt residing at Conolly- court, off Purdon- street), native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 24th day of April, 1888, in the barony of Coolock, parish of Clonturk, stolen from her employer, Winifred Quinn, the sum of ten pounds ten shillings :— Round shoulders, awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 4 feetlOincheshigh, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a black straw hat, brown dress, short black jacket; is a general servant. Description of JOHN FITZPATRICK, native of county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 14th April, 31st October, and 27th December, 1882, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Mohill, feloniously forged a Memorial, a Bond, and a Bill of Exchange, with intent to defraud the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland:— Round shoulders, looks like a hunch- back, wore all his beard which is sandy and tinged with gray, even gait; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown hair; wore a black felt hat, black frock coat, gray tweed trowsers, and black vest; formerly a farmer. ( 88C66 c.— 51080.) r* Description of JOHN REILLY ( mother's surname Slivin), native of Annaghoney, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of January, 1888, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, seriously assaulted Owen Calreavy, of Annaghmore, by striking him on the head with a stone:— Blue eyes, regular nose, pale swarthy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a soft black hat or tweed cap, bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL RODDEN, native of Derrinvona, county Leitrim, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of January, IH8S, in the baronv of Drumahaire, parish of Cloonclare, knowingly uttered i forged receipt for rent for £ 3 15s.:— Shaves all hi* fice except small side whiskers, gray eyes, long thin nose, pale sallow complexion, long thin face, mi lium foake, about 5 fuet 9 inches high, abost 50 year* of ige, brown hair; woro a soft round hat, brown top- oat, reaching to the knee, corduroy trowsers, generally ; oeps his hands in his tro ' sers pockets when walking, and leans forward; is a small farmer. TEE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, APRIL 266, 1888. Londonderry. Description of WILLIAM MONTGOMERY, native of Brigh, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of February, 1888, in the barony of Loughinshollen, parish of Desertlynn, embezzled the sum of £ 40, the money of the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway Company:— Square shoulders, good looking, smart appearance, light fair moustache, no whiskers, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round red face, very stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown hard hat, gray coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a stationmaster. Warrant in hands of the Police. Magherafelt, Feb. 14, 1888. ( 86753 c 48829.) Longford. Description of PETER. MURRAY, native of Carrickedmond, who stands charged with having, on the 26tli March, 1888, in the barony of Magdow, parish of Taghsheenod, robbed Thomas Yorke, of Ballintubber, when returning from the Fair of Tashinny, of a £ 5 note:— Scar on left cheek, gray tender eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair ; wore a tweed sack coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is an army reserve man. Warrant issued for his arrest. Ballymahon, April 4, 1888. ( 87658 c.— 50369). Louth. Description of PATRICK KENNEDY, native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having between October, 1887, and the 3rd March, 1888, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Mary's, embezzled several sums ol money, the property of George Galbraith, amounting to £ 41— Full round face; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh colnplexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6i inches high, about 31 years of age, black moustache, black hair; wore a blue jacket, tweed trowsers, and vest; was a bread deliverer, and also drove floats and vans; it is suspected that he may be employed at Liverpool, and that he underwent treatment a short time since for a varicose vein. Warrant in hands of the Drogheda police. Drogheda, April 13, 1888. ( 87495 50123.) mayo. Description of THOMAS GRIFFIN, ( mother's surname, Anne Corcoran), native of Bolton, England, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of March, 1888, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Killedan, stolen £ 3 7s., the property of Thomas Roach, of Comderra, in the said parish and county, viz., Three one pouid notes and seven shillings in silver :— Speaks with an English accent; tender eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, slender make, 4 feet 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed straight peaked cap, light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Supposed to be gone to Dublin en route to England. Warrant in hands of Con- stabulary. Swineford, March 19,1888. ( 87399 c.— 49977.) JAMES KELLY, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd December, 1887. ( 85339 c.— 46078.) Meath. Description of JAMES MURRAY, alias BROWN, alias WHITE, native of Painstown, county Meath, who stands charged with having on the night of 27th or morning of 28th June, 1887, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Duleek, stolen 6 store heifers, value £ 60, the property of P. Matthews, Esq., J. P., Mount Hanover, which have since been recovered: Birth mark behind left ear, cupped on back of neck, speaks with a strong American accent, generally carries a long whip; gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; is a Carpenter. The above while undergoing a term of 18 months imprisonment, for cattle stealing, in Kilmainham Goal, was removed therefrom on 28th August, 1887, to Richmond District Lunatic Asylum, Dublin, from which he escaped on 11th February, 1888. The Police at Duleek, county Meath, hold a Warrant for his arrest. He wore the Prison dress, which consisted of brown tweed cap, brown frieze jacket, vest, and trowsers. This is the man described in Hue- and Cry, of 12th July, 1887, under county Meath. Slane, March, 24, 1888. ( 82411 c 50187.) Monaghan. Description of BRIDGET MULLEN ( mother's surname M'Nemara), native of Dundrochan, who, on the 12th April, 1888, in the barony of Farney, pariah of Donaghmoyne, left her home in the townland of Dundrochan, and has not since b. sen heard of, she is believed to be of unsound mind, and it is feared she may have met with foul play; she had about £ 4 in her posseision and a receipt on the National Bank for about £ 30 :— Blue eyts, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a red dress about her shoulders, brown faded dress, no hat or shawl, and a pair of laced- up boots ; is a small farmer's daughter. Carrickmacross, 1st May, 1888. ( 88244 c 51376.) Queen's. Description of JAMES DERMODY, supposed native of county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of April, 1888, in the barony of Stradbally, parish of Moyanna, stolen 2 two shilling pieces, a dark tweed frock coat and vest of same material, the property of John Berry, Ballyduff, and and value for about nine shillings:— Red lump on face, round stooped shoulders, finger of one hand bent, red eyelids, shews a good deal of white of eyes, gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy whiskers, dark hair; wore a new soft hat, long gray coat, and corduroy trowsers, old strong laced boots; speaks with a Tippcrary accent; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of the Police. Maryboro', April" 12, 1888. ( 87919 c.— 50821.) Sligo. Description of JOHN HAMILTON ( mother's name M'Loughlin), native of Tullyhugh; —. DAVY, supposed native of Greyfort, and a MAN, name unknown, supposed native of Greyfort, who stands charged with having, on the morning of 23rd April, 1888, in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, broken into the house of Owen Lavin, of Carrowrielly, and intimidated him by threats and violence :— 1. Hazel eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long facc, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age, fair hair ; wore a hard black felt hat, and dark tweed clothes, is a farmer's son. 2. Small fair side whiskers and moustache, shaves upper part of chin, long nose, fair complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, fair hair; wore a low soft black hat, and knitted cuffs, dark tweed sack coat, dark trowsers and vest. 3. High cheek bones, black moustache, no beard or whiskers, swarthy complexion, broad face, very stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest. Warrants in hands of the Police at Templehouse. Collooney, 24th April, 1888. ( 88153 c.— 51230.) Description of MARY EGAN ( mother's surname Duffy), native of Tubbercurry, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd April, 1888, at Tubbercurry, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, stolen from a cash box, in the dwelling- house of Margaret Connolly ( which was forcibly opened), £ 6 in single notes, one half sovereign, and three shillings :—- Gray or blue eyes ( cast in one) . regular nose, ruddycoinplexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 1 inch high, about 22 years of age, dark red or sandy hair; wore a black skirt, cream shawl, woollen, may wear black jacket which is missing; is a domestic servant. Is likely to go to England or America. Warrant in hands of the Constabulary. Tubbercurry, April 6, 1888. ( 87777 c.— 50574). Tyrone. ROBERT BLACK ( Junior), intent to procure abortion, not arrested; Hus- and- Cry, 27th January, 1888. ( 86369 c.— 48131.) Waterford. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown ( refused to give name), who has b : en sentenced to a month's imprisonment under the Vagrancy Act, and is now in Waterford gaol, he fails to give any address or account of himself. There are strong grounds for believing that he has been moving about from place to place in the garb of a R. C. Clergy- man, collecting monies for schools and religious purposes :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, rather long face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, fair hair ; dressed as a R. C. Clergyman; he has prominent front teeth, common expression, walks with a slight stoop. If required, please communicate with the District Inspector, R. I. C., Portlaw. Portlaw, April 25th, 1888. ( 83148 c 51222.) Westmeath. JOHN DRUM, obtaining goods under false pretences, not arrested; Hue- and-( Jry, 7th February, 1888. ( 86538 c 48431.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, G Division. Description of HENRY MARTIN, wanted here on Warrant, for having unlawfully received by false pretences the sum of £ 1 with intent to defraud:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, square shoulders, fair hair turning gray, no whiskers, slight moustache, fresh complexion, reddish face ; dressed in black jacket and tweed trowsers. He left Dublin about six weeks ago, and it appears went to Belfast of which town he is a native. ' Information to Superintendent WILLIAM ti^ PBR, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, G. Division, 3rd May, 1888. ( 151 H. c.) Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE KELLY, A 787, convicted at Belfast Hillary Sessions, on 4th December, 1883, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 3 years' police supervision:— 31 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor, born in Sligo, resided before conviction at Belfast, where his friends reside; brown turning gray hair, gray eyes, dark eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 1 inch high, pock- marked. This man was released or Licence from Mountjoy Prison, the 27th February, 1888. He recently left his lodgings in Belfast, without informing the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 150 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict RACHEL WALKER, B 83, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at the Trinity Sessions, on 13th June, 1882, for larceny after previous conviotion for felony, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 50 years of age on conviction, single, born at Downpatrick, resided before conviction in Downpatrick, where her friends reside ; gray hair, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, long and broad noso, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round and short visage, stout make, 5 feet 1 inch high ; scar on right eyebrow. This woman was released from" The Shelter," Dublin, on licence 18th February, 1887, and went to Belfast. She reported to the Royal Irish Constabulary at Donegal- street, Belfast, on the 13th ult., that she was going to reside at 40, Market- street, East District, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 150 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict HENRY MORAN, A 817, convicted at Dublin City Commission, on 8th February, 1884, for larceny from person, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 22 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Dublin, where he was resident before conviction and where his friends also reside :— Brown hair, blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fair complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high; cut scar back of head, cut over right eye and bridge of nose, boil mark on right wrist. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, on licence, 21st January, 1888, and went to Dublin. He recently left his residence, 1, Belvidere- avenue, without notifying same to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 147 H. C.) Convict WILLIAM DOHERTY, alias MICHAEL FARNAN, otherwise JAMES HAMILTON, A 719, not arrested ; Hue- acd- Cry, 13th April, 1888. ( 144 H. C.) Convict WILLIAM WILSON, A 818, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 7th February, 1888. ( 132 H. C.) Quarter- Master Sergeant GEORGE CRAW- FORD, Army Service Corps, Portobello Barracks, Dublin, wanted for stealing a cheque, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1888. JOSEPH BERGIN, embezzlement, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th December, 1888. JOHN D. ELLIOTT, embezzlemcut, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th December, 1888. ENGLISH POLICE. Blackburn. WILLIAM RAWLINSON, embezzlement, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1888. ( 140 H. C.) Cumberland. Description of JOHN READ, of 97, Peel- road, Bootle, near Liverpool, Weighman, charged with stealing £ 14 6s., from a dwelling house, in Penrith, on the 29th ult.; he left Penrith same day by train for Preston :— Age 38 years, height 5 feet 11 inches, pale delicate looking, has a cough, big roman nose, blue eyes, dark hair, small light moustache, beard on chin, and slender figure; dressed in black top coat with velvet collar, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers, and vest, and low hard hat He is an ex- policeman, and is supposed to be a native of Liverpool; he was under the influence of drink when he left Penrith, and he may be found lodging in a public house. C.) Kent. £ 100 REWARD. EMBEZZLEMENT. ALEXANDER EDWARD ROLLASON, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th January, 1888. ( 126 H. c.) Lancaster. FORGERY. Wanted, on Warrant, for forging several acceptances to Bills of Exchange, JOHN QUINLAN, a native of High Bentham, in the West Riding of the county of York, age 45, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, eyes gray, light brown hair, long whiskers and moustache, sallow complexion.
