All Notices intended ( or insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General ' Notices respecting all Felonies and snch Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. t . Description of GEORGE M'DONNELL ( mother's surname Boyd) native of Ballyminster, near Ahoghill, who stands charged with having, on the 25th Decem- ber, 1887, at Castletown, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, committed a rape, for which offence he was bailed to appear and take his trial at Belfast Assizes, on 15th March, 1888, but failed to do so :— Burn mark on cne side of neck, not known which, mark of old cut on top of head, smart active appearance; dark eyes, long nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches nigh, about 22 years of age, black hair, slight dark moustache; wore a dark tweed cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn ; is a labourer. MATHEWS ( mother's surname Henry), native of Ballymena, who stands charged with having, on the loth March, 1888, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, fraud- ulently produced to Colonel Richard M. Studdert, Auditor for the Local Government Board, a bank pass- book, purporting to be the pass- book between the Guardians of Ballymena Union, and the Belfast Bank, to which book tho name of William A. Young, Esq., Chairman of said Guardians, was forged, whereby a fraud of about £ 700 has been committed on the Guardians:— Smart active appearance, slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers, brown eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a b^ n tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, and gray dust coaa^ s a Clerk to Poor Law Guardians. Description of JAMES ROBINSON, native of High Town, near Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 26th February last, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, feloniously broken into the Wolfhill Mill, at Wolfhill, in the county of Antrim, and stolen therefrom a number of knives, and one sovereign, the property of the workers in said Mill:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 17 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap with tw J peaks, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a millworker. Description of NANCY O'HAGAN, native of Millquarter, who stands charged with having, between the 19th November, 1887, and 31st January, 1888, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion Grange, embezzled certain monies, received from Sergeant Michael Barron, and others; also with having obtained goods under false pretences:— Slovenly in appearance, and hair thin on top of head from effects of a burn, gray eyes, regular nose, dirty swarthy complexion, thin face, stout make, 4 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown tinged with gray hair; wore a black striped shawl, buff coloured dress, strong boots, much worn, black bonnet. Has friends in Ballymena, and Cloughmills, and a sister named Sarah Irwin, in Dumbarton shire, Scotland; is a barrack servant. Warrant in hands of the Police. Antrim, February 13, 1888. Description of PETER BARKER ( Junior), ( mother's surname Conlan), native of Newlands, who stands charged with having, on the 4th and 5th of January, 1888, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Glynn, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl between the age of 13 and 16 years. For said offence he was bailed to appear at Larne Petty Sessions, on 24th January, 1888, but failed to do so. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police at Larne :— Slightly freckled face, walks with a swagger, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, light brown hair, no beard, whiskers or moustache; wore a Glengarry cap, blue coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a gardener's assistant Carrickfergus, Jan. 24, 1888. Description of EDMOND GAW, mother's surname, Gault, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 8th May, 1887, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, feloniously set fire to a certain shed with intent to injure, and having been indicted at Summer Assizes, 1887, he has since failed to appear and a Bench Warrant has been issued for his apprehension:— Has lost a finger of left hand, long neck, slightly drooped shoulders ; gray eyes, long nose, pale complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 in' lies high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, when last seen ; is a yarn bundler, a keeling master, a cabinet maker, a carv er, and a French polisher. Description of BRYAN CAFFREY, native of Mount Pallas, who stands charged with having, during the months of November and December, 1887, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish of Kilbride, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl between the age of 13 and 16 years:— Wears all his beard, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair ; wore a two- peaked cap, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a carpenter. Description of JAMES CRONIN, native of York- street, Blackpool, Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 25th March, 1888, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Patrick's, seriously assaulted Patrick Riordan, by striking him on the head with a stick:— Snart active appearance, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a round dark hat, dark tweed sack coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a pig buyer. Description of JAMES LYNCH, native of Drom- colloher, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 15th January, 1888, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Kilbolane, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl, between the age of 13 and 16 years:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is black and bristly, dark eyes, short nose, red complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a low hard hat, very long skirt coat, moleskin trowsers and vest; is a mason. Description of MAURICE CONNORS, native of Coolykerane, who stands charged with having, on the 25th December, 1887, in th « barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, stabbed Timothy Shine, of Churchill, in the left side with a penknife, thereby placing his life in danger :— Drooped shoulders, long neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9J inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache; wore a brown soft hat, dark frock coat, dark ccrdnr y trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN VERNON, alias JOHN M'ILVERNON, native of Ballydavy, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of December, 1887, at Ballylenaghan, in the barony of Upper Castlereagh, parish of Knockbreda, unlawfully and feloniously broken and entered the dwelling- house of John Martin, and stealing therefrom one silver Geneva watch, with imitation gold chain attached; one pair of men's laced boots, with hooks at top, toe- capped; a meerschaum pipe, and £ 13, made up as follows:— One five pound note, four one pound notes, two sovereigns, and four half sovereigns. Some of the one pound notes had the words " Belfast Banking Company, Limited " stamped on back:— Has an impediment in his speech, and twists his mouth when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark red hair; wore a cap, old brown tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farm labourer. Description of JOHN REILLY ( mother's surname Slivin), native of Annaghoney, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of January, 1888, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, seriously assaulted Owen Calreavy, of Annaghmore, by striking him on the head with a stone:— Blue eyes, regular nose, pale swarthy oomplexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a • oft black hat or tweed cap, bright tweed coat, trowsers, and Test; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL RODDEN, native of Derrinvona, county Leitrim, who stands charged with having, on tho 6th day of January, 1888, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Cloonclare, knowingly uttered • forged receipt for rent for £ 3 15s.:— Shaves all his ace exeept small side whiskers, gray eyes, long thin nose, pale sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft round hat, brown top- coat, reaching to the knee, corduroy trowsers, generally keeps his hands in his tro wsers pockets when walking, and leans forward; is a small fanner. Description of JOHN KENNEDY, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having, during present month, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a number of plain gold rings ( old), having two ( 2) file marks inside each, value for about £ 15, the property of John P. Kearney, Pawnbroker:— Bed tender eyes, long nose, red complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inohes high, about 32 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed sack coat, moleskin trowsers and dark vest, is a mason. Description of WILLIAM MONTGOMERY, native of Brigh, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of February, 1888, in the barony of Loughinshollen, parish of Desertlynn, embezzled the sum of £ 40, the money of the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway Company:— Square shoulders, good looking, smart appearance, light fair moustache, no whiskers, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round red face, very stout make, 5 feet 8 inohes high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown hard hat, gray coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a stationmaster. Description of PETER MURRAY, native of Carrickedmond, who stands charged with having, on the 26th March, 1888, in the barony of Magdow, parish of Taghsheenod, robbed Thomas Yorke, ot ballintubber, when returning from the Fair of Tashinny, of a £ 5 note : — Scar on left cheek, gray tender eyes, regular nose, fair complexiou, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair ; wore a tweed sack coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is an army reserve man. Description of PATRICK KENNEDY, native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having between October, 1887, ana the 3rd March, 1888, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Mary's, embezzled several sums ot money, the property of George Galbraith, amounting to £ 4:— Full round face; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6J inches high, about 31 years of age, black moustache, black hair; wore a blue jacket, tweed trowsers, and vest; was a bread deliverer, and also drove floats and vans; it is suspected that he may be employed at Liverpool, and that he underwent treatment a short time since for a varicose vein. Description of THOMAS GRIFFIN, ( mother's surname, Anne Corcoran), native of Bolton, England, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of March, 1888, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Killedan, stolen £ 3 7s., the property of Thomas Roach, of Comderra, in the said parish and county, viz., Three one pound notes and seven shillings in silver :— Speaks with an English accent; tender eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, slender make, 4 feet 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed straight peaked cap, light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. ( 85339 c.— 46078.) Meath. Description of JAMES MURRAY, alias BROWN, alias WHITE, native of Painstown, county Meath, who stands charged with having on the night of 27th or morning of 28th June, 1887, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Duleek, stolen 6 store heifers, value £ 60, the property of P. Matthews, Esq., J. P., Mount Hanover, which have since been recovered:— Birth mark behind left ear, cupped on back of neck, speaks with a strong American accent, generally carries a long whip; gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; is a Carpenter. The above while undergoing a term of 18 months imprisonment, for cattle stealing, in Kilmainham Goal, was removed therefrom on 28th August, 1887, to Richmond District Lunatic Asylum, Dublin, from which he escaped on 11th February, 1888. The Police at Duleek, county Meath, hold a Warrant for his arrest. He wore the Prison dress, which consisted of brown tweed cap, brown frieze jacket, vest, and trowsers. This is the man described in Hue- and- Cry, of 12th July, 1887, under county Meath. Slane, March, 24, 1888. ( 82411 c— 50187.) Queen's. Description of JAMES DERMODY, supposed native of county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of April, 1888, in the barony of Stradbally, parish of Moyanna, stolen 2 two shilling pieces, a dark tweed frock coat and vest of same material, the property of John Berry, Ballyduff, and and value for about nine shillings:— Red lump on face, round stooped shoulders, finger of one hand bent, red eyelids, shews a good deal of white of eyes, gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy whiskers, dark hair; wore a new soft hat, long gray coat, and corduroy trowsers, old strong laced boots; speaks with a Tipperary accent; is a labourer. Description of MARY EGAN ( mother's surname Duffy), native of Tubbercurry, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd April, 1888, at Tubbercurry, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, stolen from a cash box, in the dwelling- house of Margaret Connolly ( which was forcibly opened), £ 6 in single notes, one half sovereign, and three shillings:— Gray or blue eyes ( cast in one) . regular nose, ruddy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 1 inch high, about 22 years of age, dark red or sandy hair; wore a black skirt, cream shawl,' woollen, may wear black jacket which is missing; is a domestic servant. . Description of A YOUNG MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, at or about 8 p. m., 16th January, 1888, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, parish of Donohill, fired three shots from a revolver at Valentine Ryan, Esq., J. P., in his house at Chadville, near Cappawhite:— Full large round bullet shaped eyes, blue or gray in colour, straight nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, youthful, soft athletic looking, with rather square shoulders, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 18 or 20 years of age, fair or light brown hair, highly arched eyebrows, fair or light brown in colour, and evenly marked from end to end; regular teeth in upper jaw; wore a double peaked light gray cap and dark clothes. Description of ROBERT BLACK ( Junior), native of Montober, who stands charged with having, on the 7th January, 1888, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Derryloran, administered drugs to one Martha Bayne, with intent to procure abortion:— Walks erect, square shoulders, broad fore- head, very fair eyebrows, gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair ; wore a light brown hard hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN DRUM, native of Delvin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th January, 1888, in the barony of Delvin, parish of Delvin, endeavoured to obtain goods by false pretences, and with having failed to appear at Delvin Petty Sessions, on 80th January, 1888, on Summons:— Brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stoat make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 20 years of age; wore a brown overcoat, gray tweed trowsers, and vest. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM DOHERTY, alias MICHAEL FARNAN, otherwise JAMES HAMILTON, A 719, convicted at Omagh, county Tyrone, on 23rd April 1883, for larceny and subsequent felony, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 41 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer; born at Ballyfaddon, county Tyrone; resided before conviction at Lifford, his friends reside at Glenties, county Donegal:— Black hair ( turning gray), gray eyes, dark eyebrows, small cocked nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, broad visage, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high; cut mark centre of fore- head, flat ankles, small lump on forehead over left eye, and on left cheek near nose. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on licence, 30th March, 1887, and went to Maryborough. He recently left Lifford, his last place of residence without reporting to the Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. He is stated to have gone to live near Derry. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th seotion of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 144 H. c.) " Description of Quarter- Master Sergeant GEORGE CRAWFORD, Army Service Corps, Portobello Barracks, Dublin, wanted here on Warrant, for stealing a cheque for £ 25:— He is 27 years old, 5 feet 7f inches high, sallow complexion, black hair, dark moustache, rest of face shaved, brown eyes, with slight cast in right, scar on left shin. He was born at Shankhill, Belfast. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM ReDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDy, Superintendent. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 13th January, 1888, and stated he was going to reside at Naas. He has not reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Wanted, on Warrant, for forging several acceptances to Bills of Exchange, JOHN QUINLAN, a native of High Bentham, in the West Riding of the county of York, age 45, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, eyes gray, light brown hair, long whiskers and moustache, sallow ^^ plexion. ™ Ic is of a very excitable temperament, and twitches his eyes when talking ; has a habit ofbiting his finger nails, which are bitten very low; is a brisk walker, but rather weak- kneed. He is known to be in London, from where he has sent several telegrams from different offices. The last one was sent to Lancaster last night, the 5th instant, from " King's Cross B," at 6 3d p. m. He will probably endeavour to leave for Australia by the mail, as it has been ascertained that he has provided himself with several articles necessary for travelling. Please cause every . enquiry to be made at hotels, shipping offices, and all other likely places, and if found, arrest and wire me, when an officer will immediately be sent for him. Wanted at Selkirk, on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with the crime of falsehood, fraud, and wilful imposition, committed here on the 23rd December, 1887, a man, who gave the name of J. H. GUTHRIE ( supposed fictitious), stated that he was a commercial traveller, residing at 122, Downsell- road, Leyton- road, Stratford, London:— About 32 or 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches in height, dark hair, supposed slightly frizzled, dark side whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, fresh complexion, ordinary build, rather good- looking, of respectable appearance, and speaks with an English accent. Dressed, when seen here, in a black twilled worsted suit, dark overcoat, and dress hat with band, and carried a black handbag containing a quantity of transfers. GUTHRIE'S practice is to call on painters and represent himself as the representative of J. < fc W. Gray, < fc Co., Transfer Painters, London ; asks them to become agents for the sale of transfers, and states that those who agree to take an agency will receive a draught screen, value £ 5, covered with transfers, and that pattern books, circulars, and other advertising notices will be forwarded in a few days. Samples of transfers are then left, and money obtained on the strength of the foregoing representations, which have been found to be false. This person is supposed to be the same as described in the Police Gazette of 15th August, 1884, Case No. 15 ; 17th October, 1884, Case No. 94; 30th October, 1885, Case No. 14; and 15th April, 1887, Case No. 47. It is requested that particular search and inquiry be made lor this person, and if found that he be appre- hended and notice sent to the subscriber, who will send for him. , It is also requested that the dates of any previous convictions that may be known against him be at the same time sent. He is an ex- policeman, and is supposed' to be a native of Liverpool; he was under the influence of drink when he left Penrith, and he may be found lodging in a public house.
