TIOKTI $ gT All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting alMTelonies and such Misdemeanour^ as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it fe. But the Constabulary should remember that they% annot arrest a person charged with an offence of thin nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Description of PETER BARKER ( Junior), ( mother's surname Conlan), native of Newlands, who stands charged with having, on the 4th and 5th of January, 1888, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Glynn, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl between the age of 13 and 16 years. For » aid offence he was bailed to appear at Larne Petty Sessions, on- 24th January, 1888, but failed to do so. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 10th January, 1888, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast :— ALEXANDER QUINN, 18 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make,. 5 feet 3 inches high, is a shoemaker, born at Market- hill. Parents reside at 87, Silvia- street. Scar on back, of left hand, several small scars on back of ri^ ht side, kick mark on left shin bone. Description of THOMAS DONOHUE ( supposed), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th November, 1887, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Nicholas, stolen two coats— NdH, a top coat, dark brown cloth ; No. 2, a short blueish green cloth shooting coat, with welted xeams on sleeves; a brown tweed trowsers and a pair of shooting boots, the property of William Vokes, Manager of Lloyd's Circus, all value for about £ 5 IOJ. Supposed to be wearing the clothes :— Slight squint in one eye ; hazel eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 Tears of age ; wore a soft American hat, black coat, and tweed trowsers 5 is a confectioner, but . recently employed as a labourer, and travels with LloydS Circus. Description of JOHN VERNON, alias JOHN M'ILVERNON, native of Ballydavy, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of December, 1887, at Ballylenaghan, in the barony of Upper Castlereagh, parish of Knockbreda, unlawfully and feloniously broken and entered the dwelling- house of John Martin, and stealing therefrom one silver Geneva watch, with imitation gold chain attached; one pair of men's laced boots, with hooks at top, toe- capped; a meerschaum pipe, and £ 13, made up as follows:— One five pound note, four one pound notes, two sovereigns, and four half sovereigns. Some of the one pound notes had the words " Belfast Banking Company, Limited " stamped on back :— Has an impediment in his ppeech, and twists his mouth when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark red hair; wore a cap, old brown tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and tweed ® est; is a farm labourer. Sandy complexion, shaved face, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, sandy hairf wore a moleskin trousers and vest; apparently a Labourer. 2. Dark complexion, 6 feet high, about 20 years of age, dark hair ; wore a faded black coat, trousers, and vest; apparently a Labourer. 3. Description of JOHN KENNEDY, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having, during present month, in the boqpugh of Limerick, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a number of plain gold rings ( old), having two ( 2) file marks inside each, value for about £ 15, the property of John P. Kearney, Pawnbroker:— Bed tender eyes, long nose, red complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 32 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed sack coat, moleskin trowsers and dark vest, is a mason. Descriptions of FRANCIS KEEFFE and MICHAEL REIDY, natives of Templeglautin, who stand charged with having, on the 16th April, 1887, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Abbeyfeale, at Abbeyfeale, committed an indecent assault on Nano McCarthy. For said offence they were returned for trial to Quarter Sessions, at Rathkeale, on 7th October, 1887, but failed to appear for trial at said Quarter Ses- sions s— 1. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark grey coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. 2. Grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. Louth. • Description of a MAN, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th day of December, 1887, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Smarmore, committed a rape on one Mary Malone, of Ardee:— Supposed to have the mark of a bite on the back of one of his hands ; pale complexion, whitish face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age ; wore a round black cap, frieze coat, corduroy trowsers; supposed to be a tramp. Description of JAMES BOURKE, Mother's sur- name Malley, native of Curlummin, who stands charged with having, on the 2 nd January, 1888, at Foxford, in the barony of Tyrawley, parish of Ballinahaglish, seriously assaulted Owen Loftus, by holding him down while Pat Bourke ( who has been arrested) poured a kettle of boiling water on his head :— Large flat feet, awkward gait; gray eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair ; wore a low hat, frieze coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of JAMES KELLY ( mother's surname M'Nulty), native of Sonnagh, who stands charged with havjpg, on the 25th day of November. 1877, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilbeagh, seriously as- saulted Dominick Colleran, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger:— Bine eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hard felt hat, dark tweed coat, trousers and vest; is a farmer. Description of A YOUNG MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, at or about 8 p. m., 16th January, 1888, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, parish of Donohill, fired three shots from a revolver at Valentine Ryan, Esq., j. r., in his house at Chadville, near Cappawhite:—£ ull large round bullet shaped eyes, blue or gray in colour, straight nose, fai% complexion, oval face, medium make, youthful, soft athletic looking, with rather square shoulders, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 18 or 20 years ofllge, fair or light brown hair, highly arched eyebrows, fair or light brown in colour, and evenly marked from end to end ; regular teeth in upper jaw ; wore a double peaked light gray cap and dark clothes. Description of ROBERT BLACK ( Junior), native of Montober, who stands charged with having, on the 7th January, 1888, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Derryloran, administered drugs to one Martha Bayne, with intent to procure abortion:— Walks erect, square shoulders, broad fore- head, very fair eyebrows, gray eyes, straight nose, fair comple'xion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair ; wore a light brown hard hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a fanner's son. Description of RICHARD UNTHANK, native of England, who stands charged with having, on the 14th day of November, 1887, in the barony of Lower Dungannon, parish of Aghaloo, at Caledon, embezzled the sum of £ 450, the property of Earl of Caledon :— Downcast look; resembles a horse or cattle dealer, gray eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 55 years of* age, gray hair; wore a low hat dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a land steward. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM WILSON, A 818, convicted at Dublin, at the Commission, on 8th February, 1884, for larceny fiom person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 48 years of age on conviction, married, is a poulterer; born at Plymouth; resided before conviction in Dublin, his friends reside at Gallogate, Glasgow :— Sandy hair, blue eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fair complexion, oval- worn vimge, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high ; lost a number of teeth. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 13th January, 1888, and stated he was going to reside at Naas. He has not reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 132 H. c.) Particulars relative to Convict JOHN GERAGHTY, A 779, convicted at Galway Quarter Sessions, on 29th October, 1883, for larceny, and former conviction . for felony, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 64 years of age on conviction, single, is a blacksmith, born in Minehill, near Headford, county Galway, resided before conviction in Shrule, county Galway, where his friends reside :— gray hair, hazel eyes, gray eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fair complexion, worn visage, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost all front upper teeth. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, the 4th October, 1887, and went to Head- ford, county Galway. He left Headford, the 6th ultimo, stating that he was going to Shrule, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Wanted at Kendal, charged with stealing a quantity of masons' chisels ( recovered) on the 2nd instant, THOMAS DIXON, alias Hartley, Weaver, tramping, born at Leyland, 48 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, gray hair, gray eyes, common nose, fresh complexion, proportionate build, widower, scar back of neck, on crown and bridge of nose; ri^ ht side— scar on temple, cheek, and shin ; left side— vaccination marks, D on ribs, scar on shin. 17th October, 1883, Preston Quarter Sessions, for felony, 5 years' penal servitude and 7 years' police supervision. On the 20th December, 1887, at Bow- ness, in name of John Eccleston, blacksmith's striker, begging, 14 days to Her Majesty's Prison, Kendal. Is in the habit of lodging in outbuildings. Wanted on warrant for fraudulently embezzling certain sums of money to the amount of £ 2,000 and upward, the monies of his employers, Messrs. Hook and Co., Paper Manufacturers, Snodland, Kent, between the 6th October, 1885, and the 10th September, 1887 :— ALEXANDER EDWARD ROLLASON, late Cashier in the above firm, and who absconded on the 9th September last. He is about 45* ears of age, height 5 feet 9 inches, spare gaunt man, light thin and straight hair, qiWck and abrupt in his manner, good regular white teeth, a little inclined to stoop, short- sighted in one eye, uses glasses, one a magnifier the other plain, sober man, not in very good health, fond of physicking himself* with Homoeopathic medicines, speaks French, well read and well informed. Has a wife but no children. Has resided abroad, and been employed as commission agent and manager of Stores in London, Paris, New York, Montreal, < Ssc. May seek similar situations. PIERCE, about 33 years ol age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, st^ ut build, fresh complexion, no whiskers, slight dark moustache, clean smart appearance. 2 BRICE, about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, proportionate build, round face, sallow complexion, brown whiskers rounl face, but may be clean shaved; dre3se3 respectably. The first man, Pierce, was living in St. Giles'- street, in this town, with his wife, a tall, good- looking woman, fresh complexion, and brown hair cut short, and a little boy about 4 years of age. Another man, said to be his brother, James Pierce, was living with hifk, and assisting in the business, which was styled " The Bon Marche ;" the latter is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, clear dark complexion. The second man, Brice, was living with his wife at 61, Sheep- street, in this town ; Mrs. Brice is a stout woman, and taller than her husband. An old man and woman ( supposed parents of " Pierce.") lived in the Horsemarket in this town, and assisted in carrying on the business of both firms, such as making or repairing cheap furniture, & c., making up, & c.; the old man was 60 years of age, very short, with gray hair, and generally wore a high hat, and carried a stick. It is supposed that the whole of the above- described will be found trading together in other names. Their modus operandi is to open shops in names only slightly differing from some well- known firm in the town : for instance, Brice ( above- described) evened a shop in Sheep- street, in this town, as " Brice & Co.," whereas, in a principal thoroughfare, a large firm exists " Brice & Sons;" it is thus easy to obtain a quantity of goods without enquiries, which these people have been doing, and then sending the same to Auction ^ Bales in the town, and after thus disposing of a considerable quantity they leave without notice, and are not heard of again. Letters of enquiry have been received from all parts where these people have sent for goods, including furniture, rugs, mats, bedding, fancy goods, flannel, table cloths, woollen goods, & c., & c. Should any person or persons, similar to description of above, be known to have opened recently in your town, kindly communicate with me at once' before apprehending, and some one shall be sent who can identify them.
