TIONI Alt Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of ]> ersons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issuea, » nd by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulaiy should remember thati they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thi » nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. ROYA£ IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. • Description of PETER BARKER ( Junior), ^ mother's surname Conlan), native of Newlands, who stands charged with having, on the 4th and 5th of January, 1888, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Glynn, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl between the age of 13 and 16 years. For said offence he was bailed to appear at Larne Petty Sessions, on 24th January, 1888, but failed to do so. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police at Larne : Slightly freckled face, walks with a swagger, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, light brown hair, no beard, whiskers or moustache; wore a Glergarry cap, blue coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a gardener's assistant. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 10th January, 1888, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast : ALEXANDER QUINN, 18 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, is a shoemaker, born nt Market- hill. Parents reside at 87, Silvia- street. Scar on back of left hand, several small scars on back of right side, kick mark on left shin bone. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded : Moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots and woollen stockings. No. 130. Quinn when previously an absconder was hired with a farmer named Blyth, of Brookhill. The Manager of the Reformatory, will defray the ^ cpcnscs of his conveyance, if arrested, to the neaflst ^^ tstice, on remand, and will reward the person who ^ Eay capture him with £ 1. ( 127 H. C.) Cork. , Description of MAURICE CONNORS, native ol Coolykerane, who stands charged with having, on the 25th December, 1887, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, stabbed Timothy Shine, of Churchill, in the left side with a penknife, thereby placing his life in danger :— Drooped shoulders, long neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, small thin face, slight make^ feet 9J inches high, about 19 years of age, fair n< Br, no beard, whiskers, or moustache; wore a brown solt hat, dark frock coat, dark corduroy trowgers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son. Description of THOMAS DONOHUE ( supposed), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, the 7th November, 1887, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Nicholas, stolen two coats— No. 1, a top coat, dark brown cloth; No. 2, a short blueish green cloth shooting coat, with welted seams on sleeves; a brown tweed trowsers and a pair of shootingjsoots, the property of William Vokes, Manager of lloyd's Circus, all value for about £ 5 10j. Supposed to be wearing the clothes :— Slight squint in one eye ; hazel eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age ; wore a soft American hat, black coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a confectioner, but recently employed as a labourer, and travels with Lloyd's Circus. Warrant in the hands of the Constabulary at Blackrock. Cork South, Nov. 18, 1887. ( 85106 c.— 45638.) Description of JEREMIAH TWOHIG, native of Horsemount, who stands charged with having, on the 9th November, 1887, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Clondrohid, fired a shot at members of the Royal Irish Constabulary with intent to kill:— Smart active appearance, brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 illfches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray two- peaked cap, gray tweed coat, trowscrs, and vest. KEARSE, native of Cork, an absconding bankrupt, who stands charged with having, on tht 13th of August 1887, in the barony of Cork, parish of Cork, absconded, and taking with him a large sum of money belonging to his creditor:— Prominent chest, walks erect, active gait, good- looking, cheek bones prominent, large thick dark moustache; wears several rings; blue or grey eyes, Description of JAMES BARRY, native of Lack- nacummeen, and DAVID CRONIN, native of Ballinacourtha, who stand charged with having, on* the night of the 2: ird October, 1887, in the barony of Kinaralea, parish of Clontade, indecently assaulted Catherine Henerty, aged 15 years :— • 1. Swaggering gait, walks erect, hollow in back, military appearance, grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full fa< ® , medium make, 5 feet 9- inches high, about 21 years of age, lair hair, j| ark moustache; wore a black hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and militia man. 2. Short thick neck, grey eyes, short slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer, farmer's son. Description of MARTHA JANE CLARKE, native of Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1888, in the barony of Lower Ards, parish of Bangor, stolen from her empl yer, James E. Johnston, a pair of lady's laced boots, nearly new, and value for about 12*.— Large blue eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 14 or 15 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown hat trimmed with plu- h, black twilled jacket trimmed with black fur, and brown velvet dress; she accompanies her father, who is a tgimp, from town to town. Warrant for her arrest iu the hands of the Constabulary at Bangor. Newtownards, Jan. 6, 1888. ( 86030 c.— 47461.) Description of JOHN VERNON, alias JOHN M'ILVERNON, native of Ballydavy, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of December, 1887, at Ballylenaghan, in the barony of Upper Castlereagh, parish of Knockbreda, unlawfully and feloniously broken and entered the dwelling- house of John Martin, and stealing therefrom one silver Geneva watch, with imitation gold chain attached ; one pair of men's laced boots, with hooks at top, toe- capped; a meerschaum pipe, and £ 13, made up as follows: — One five pound note, lour one pound notes, two sovereigns, und four half sovereigns. some of the one pound notes had the words " Belfast Banking Company, Limited " stamped on back :— Has an impediment in his speech, and twists his mouth when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark red hair; wore a cap, old brown tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farm labourer. May probably be wearing the stolen boots. Warrant in the hands of the Constabulary at Newtownbreda. Newtownards, Dec. 13, 1837. ( 85586 c— 46598.) Description of FOUR PERSONS, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th October, 1887, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilmactolway, unlawfully assaulted James sheridan ( Junior), and robbed him of sixpence:— 1. Sandy complexion, shaved face, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore a moleskin trousers and vest; apparently a Labourer. 2. Dark complexion, 6 feet high, abont 20 year;, of age, dark hair ; wore a faded black coat, trousers, and vest; apparently a Labourer. 3. Sandy complexion, shaved face, 5 feet high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, troasers, and vest; apparently a Labourer. 4. Shaved face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 35 years of age, dark turning gray hair. Lucan, 24th November; 1887. ( 85216 45? 36.) XIOO^ SEWARD. POISONING OF 18 HUNTERS AT CLONSILLA, COUNTY DUBLIN, ON 8TH OCTOBER, 1887. Captain H. Steeds offers above reward for such information as would lead to a conviction for above malicious act. And as large quantities of arsenic, or preparation of arsenic, have been found in the animals poisoned, and in the bran mashes used to convey the poison, it is desired that all stations should look up chemists, druggists, grocers, < fcc., who may have sold arsenic, or arsenical preparations, such as sheep dips, « fec., and communicate with R. C. COLERIDGE, Ist D. I., R. I. C. Depot. Kildare. • Description of three tramps, who stand charged with having, on the 29th November, 1887, in the barony of Kilcullen, parish of Kilcullen, waylaid and robbed Maurice Dillon, of Knockbounce, county Kildare, and stole from him one pale leather coloured purse fastened with one spring clasp, and which contained one stuffing in silveiSand nine pence in coppers :— 1. JOHN WILLIAMS, alias JOHN CHARLES, alias JOHN BERGIN, native of Plymouth, who h* s • been Committed for trial to the Winter Assizes, charged with burglary, and robbary of £ 19 7s. 10d., two bottles of Whiskey, and some smal^ articles ( which have all beon recovered), the property of mrs Anne Fennin, of Brackaugh. The accused, on the 27th October last, pawned a silver lever hunting watch, No. ' 2609t ; makers name, John Johnes, 338 " Strand" which is supposed to have been stolon. Any information re garding him, including previous convictions, to be addressed to the District Inspector, Athy :— Marks of scar on left cheek, blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, sa^ dy hair ; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trousers, tweed vest; small light sandy moustache, no beard or whiskers; goes by tie name of " Fox^ Jack;" served in the army; stage dancer. It is requested that anything known about this man be communicated to the Dis- trict Inspector at Athy. Athy, Nov. 25, 1887. ( 85259 c.— 45921.) Description of WILLIAM HOGAN, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 15th November, 1887, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, stolen a coat and vest, value for £ 1, and a pair of elastic sidt^ boots much worn, value for 4a.; the coat and vest have been found in a Pawn Office:— Cast in both eyes; regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age; is a Carpenter, and served 12 years in the Royal Eng# ioers; smart active appearance. Warrant in hands of the Kildare Police. Kildare, November 18, 1887, ( 85107 45639.) King's. Description of PATRICK CRAIG, native of Rathdowney, Queen's county, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of April, 1887, in the barony of Ballyeown, parish of Kilbride, wilfully deserted his wife Martha Craig and three children, at Tullaiuore, King's county, whereby they have become destitute and have been since in Tullamore Union Workhouse and receiving relief therein :— Three marks of small pox on right temple, round shoulders and short neck, large blue eyes, regular nosaj florid com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 37 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a maltster. A warrant in the hands of the Tullamore Royal Irish Constabulary for his arrest, and the Tullamore Guardians will defray all expenses if arrested. • Tullamore, October26th 1887. ( « 4701 c.— 44916.) Limerick. Descriptions of FRANCIS KEEFFE and MICHAEL REIDY, natives of Templeglautin, who stand charged with having, on the 16th April, 1887, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Abbeyfeal<% at Abbeyfeale, committed an indecent assault on Nano McCarthy. For said offence they were returned for trial to Quarter Sessions, at Rathkeale, on 7th October, 1887, but failed g^ o appear for trial at said Quarter Ses- sions :— 1. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark grey coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. 2. Grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. Feigns bad health. Bench Warrants have been issued for the arrest of these two men, and the Warrants are in the hands of the Police at Abbeyfeale. Abbeyfeale, November 22, 1887. ( 85179 45770.) Longford. Description of FRANCIS M'GLYNN, native of Drumlish, who stands charged with having on the 2nd Januffry, 1888, in the barony of Longford, and parish of Killoe, seriously assaulted Francis Mullerry, by fracturing his skull, whereby his life is in danger:— Smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair, and yiall dark moustache; wore a soft hat, light tweed coat, corduroy trousers, and light tweed vest; is a farmer's son. Louth. • Description of a MAN, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th day of December, 1887, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Smarmore, committed a rape on one Mary Malone, of Ardee — Supposed to have the mark of a bite on the back of one of his hands ; pale complexion, whitish face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, abiiit 24 years of age ; wore a round black cap, frieze coat, corduroy trowsers; supposed to be a tramp. Description of DOMINICK GALLAGHER, native of Glann East, who stands charged with having, on the 25th December, 1887, in the bfaony of Costello, parish of Kilbiagh, stabbed Patrick M'Gowan in the neck, from the effects of which he died on 27th inst. :— Speaks with an English accent, was in America, very long drooped nose, flushed long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, ab(& t 42 years of age, has shaved off beard, whiskers, and moustache; wore a low hat, dark coat, tweed or cord trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer. Description of JAMES KELLY ( mother's surname M'Nulty), native of Sonnagh, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of November. 1877, in the barony j) f Costello, parish of Kilbeagh, seriously as- saulted dominick Colleran, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger:— Blue eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hard felt hat, dark tweed coat, trousers and vest; is a farmer. Warrant for his arrest is in the h, tnds of the District Inspector, Swinford, County of Mayo. Swinford, Nov. 30, 1887. ( 85339 c.— 46078.) Meatb. Description of a MAN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st December, 1887, in the barony of Upper Deece, parish of Gallow, stolen a reversible waterproof coat, black ou one side and white on the other, value for about 10s., the property of Captain Bomford, J. P. : — Sears on face; blue M'es, regular nose, fresh complexion, shaved face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed coat, trows^ rs, and vest. Description of JOHN BREEN, ( mother's surname, Delany), native of Deerpark, whe^ tands charged with having, on the 30th December, 1887, in the barony of Maryboro', parish of Clonenagh, stolen 3 heifers, the property of Thomas Fitzpatrick, and offered same for sale at Edenderry fair, on the 31st December, 1887, ( Cattle recovered):— Has a swaggering gait, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair; wore an old jerry hat, old brown coatjjcorduroy trowsers, and two vests; is sometimes employed sinking pumps. Warrant in hands of the District Inspector, R. I. C., Mountrath. Mountrath, Jan. 6, 1888. ( 86010 c.— 47403.) Description of PATRICK FOSTER, native of Lea, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of December, 1887, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Lea, unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl between the age of 13 and 16 years :— Wore gray side whiskers; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, thin face, active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 60 years of age, gray hair; wore a brown coat, tweed trowsers, and brown vest; is a labourer. Maryboro', Jan. 1, 1888. ( 85943 c.— 47269.) Tipperary. AMENDED DESCRIPTION. Description of A YOUNG MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, at or about 8 p. m., 16th January, 1888, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, parish of Donohill, fired three shots from a revolver at Valentine Ryan, Esq., J. P., in his house at Chadville, near Cappawhite:— Full large round bullet shaped eyes, blue or gray in colour, straight nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, youthful, soft athletic looking, with rather square shoulders, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 18 or 20 years of age, fair or light brown hair, highly arched eyebrows, fair or light brown in colour, and evenly marked from end to end; regular teeth in upper jaw ; wore a double peaked light grayxap and dark clothes. ( 72623 c.— 47843.) • Tyrone. • Description of ROBERT BLACK ( Junior), native of Montober who stands charged with having, on the 7th January, 1888, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Derryloran, administered drugs one Martha Bayne, with intent to procure abortion:— Ws^ s erect, square shoulders, broad fcre- head, very ^ air eyebrows, gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair ; wore a light broijn hard Igit, gray tweed coat, trowsers, aud vest; is a farmer's son. The Police at Cookstown hold a Warrant for his arrest. Cookstown, Jan.* 25, 1888. ( 86369 c.— 48131.) Description of RICHARD UNTHANK, native of • England, whdi stands charged with having, on the 14th day of November, 1887, in the barony of LBwer Dungannon, parish of Aghaloo, at Caledon, embezzled the sum of # 6450, the property of Earl of Caledon :— Downcast look; resembles a Aorse or cattle dealer, gray eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, mediuiQmake, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair; wore a low hat, dark c^ t, trowsers, and vest; is a land steward. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Constabulary at Caledon ; £ 50 reward will be paid by Earl of Caledon for such infor- msnion as will lead to his arrest. Aughnacloy, Nov. 19, 1887. ( 85132 c.— 45683.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, G Division. Particulars relative to GEORGE GREATRIX, English supervisee, convicted at Middlesex Sessions, on 6th December 1880, for larceny in dwelling- house and receiving after previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 3 years police supervision:— 26 years of age on conviction, single, is a photographer j born in Liverpool, resided before conviction at Camden road, London, where his friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, scars front of ribs, and right side of belly, mole on right collar bone, scar below chcst left side. This supervisee, on the 17th ult., reported to the Dublin Police that he was going to Belfast, but he has not reported himself at. the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. ( 125 H. C.) Description of JOHN D. ELLIOTT, wanted here on Warrant for embezzlement:— About 50 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, turning grey, large features, sallow complexion, large nose, hazel' eyes; dressed in blue serge suit, grey Chesterfield overcoat, silk hat, and laced boots, and generally wears eye- glasses, and a gold ring on little • finger. Particularsrelatfve to Convict JOHN GERAGHTY, A. 779, convicted at Galway Quarter Sessions, on 29th October, 1883, for larceny, and former conviction for felony, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 64 years of age on conviction, single, is a blacksmith, born in Minehill, near Headford, county Galway, ' resided before conviction in Shrule, county Galway, where his friends reside:— gray hair, hazel eyes, gray eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fair complexion, '^ K5rn visage, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost all front upper teeth. ' l^ his man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, the 4th October, 1887, and went to Head- ford, cou nty Galway. He left Headford, the 6th ultimo, stating that he was going to Shrule, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 109 H. c.) Particulars relative to Convict MARY GABRIEL, B 119, convicted at Waterford, at the Quarter Sessions, on 23rd January, 1884, tor larceny, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 31 years of age on conviction, married, is a prostitute, prison trade, laundress; born in Waterford, resided before con- viction in Waterford, where her friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, long visage, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high. This woman was released from Grangegorman Prison on licence, the 18th June, 1887. She recently left her residence 17, Ardee- street, Dublin, without reporting same to the Police, and her present where- abouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with onder the 5th sec. of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. October 2< f, 1887. Is in the habit of lodging in outbuildings. He is a convict on licence and is wanted at Preston for failing to report. He may seek employment as blacksmith's striker. Warrant issued. Has a wife but no children. Yorkshire. Description of PATRICK MARTIN, alias REED, alias COLLINGS, a prisoner escaped from H. M. Prison, Northallerton, Yorkshire, on 23rd December, 1887:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches l% h, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, gray eyes, proportionate build, oval face ; T. T. O. V. tatooed on left forearm. Supposed to be making his way to Ireland ; and that he travelled from Darlington to Liverpool by rail, in fema) g attire, on 26th December, 1887. A reward, of which the amount will be at the dis- cretion of the Commissioners of Prisons, but not exceeding £ 5 in the whole, will be paid to such person or persons a « may apprehend and deliver up the prisoner. The person described below is wanted here on a Sheriffs warrant, charged with cattle stealing in this county, on 15th July, 1886. He fled to America at that time, has since returned, enlisted at Edinburgh on 9th October last, in the Scots Fusiliers, joined the Regiment at Ayr, got seven days leave of absence on 21st November, and has failed to rejoin. Was wearing a medal, which he said he got from the Canadian Government for taking part in suppressing the Reil rebellion:— JOHN PROCTOR, native of Udny, Aberdeenshire, 24 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 8^ irilhes high, without shoes, brown hair, fresh complexion, blue eyes, full 1 ace, heavy brows, cut mark on brow, slight brown moustache, stout make. Speaks with English accent; says has sailed as a Ship's Steward ; has > een several times in the army ; mother's name " Emslie." When " Proctor" left Ayr, had with him short gray tweed jacket; dark cloth vest; brown striped trousers, strap and pocket behind; blue sailor's jersey, and blue fatigue dress ; was in the 42nd Regiment, under name of James Paterson, deserted at Currie, Ireland, 15th May, 1885, and has not been apprehended. Please cause particular enquiry to be made for this man, especially at Recruiting Stations and Military Depots, as it is believed he will re- enlist.
