No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim, Description of STAFFORD WILSON, native of Connor, and JOHN CRAIG ( mother's name Mawha), native of Ferniskey, who stand charged with having, on the 11th October, 1887, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Connor, unlawfully assaulted Jane Hyndman, and maliciously broke the shop window of Joseph Hyndman, of Kells:— 1. May have a fresh wound on forehead, dark eyes, long nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a low black hat, dark coat, black trowsers, and dark vest; is a farm labourer, and has been employed in Govan, Scotland, in a timber yard. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 31 years of age, dark hair; wore a tweed cap ( light colour), dark coat, trowsers, and vest; was in the R. I. Description of THOMAS DONOHUE ( supposed), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th November, 1887, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Nicholas, stolen two coats— No. 1, a top coat, dark brown cloth ; No. 2, a short blueish green cloth shooting coat, with welted seams on sleeves; a brown tweed trowsers and a pair of shooting boots, the property of William Yokes, Manager of Lloyd's Circus, all value for about £ 5 10s. Supposed to be wearing the clothos :— Slight squint in one eye ; hazel eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age ; wore a soft American hat, black coat, and tweed trowsers; is e confectioner, but recently employed as a labourer, y/ 1 travels with Lloyd's Circus. Description of JEREMIAH TWOHIG, native of Horsemount, who stands charged with having, on the 9tli November, 1887, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Clondrohid, fired a shot at members of the Royal Irish Constabulary with intent to kill:— Smart active appearance, brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray two- peaked cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. KEARSE, native of Cork, an absconding bankrupt, who stands charged with having, on the 13th of August, 1887, in the barony of Cork, parish of Cork, absconded, and taking with him a large sum of money belonging to his creditors :— Prominent chest, walks erect, active gait, good- looking, cheek bones prominent, large thick dark moustache; wears several rings; blue or grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, broad face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age, brown hair ; wore a dark overcoat; is a banker. Description of JAMES BARRY, native of Lack nacummeen, and DAVID CRONIN, native of Ballinacourtha, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 23rd October, 1887, in the barony of Kinaralea, parish of Clontade, indecently assaulted Catherine Henerty, aged 15 years :— 1. Swaggering gait, walks erect, hollow in back, military appearance, grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of age, fair hair, dark moustache; wore a black hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and militia man. 2. Short thick neck, grey eyes, short slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of age, dark hair: wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer, farmer's son. Kinsale October 29 1887. ( 84706 c. 44921.) parish of Kilmactolway, unlawfully assaulted James Sheridan' ( Junior), and robbed him of sixpence:— 1. Sandy complexion, shaved face, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore a moleskin trousers and vest; apparently a Labourer. 2. Dark complexion, 6 feet high, about 20 years of age, dark hair ; wore a faded black coat, trousers, and vest; apparently a Labourer. 3. Sandy complexion, shaved face, 5 feet high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trousers, and vest; apparently a Labourer. " 4. Description of DANIEL M'CARTHY, native of Mallow, who stands charged with having, on or about the 7th October, 1887, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Mallow, feloniously embezzled the sum of £ 71 16s. 9d., or thereabouts, the property of the Town Commissioners of Mallow: — Down- looking appearance, short neck, dark sunken eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round full face, very stont make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 36 years of age; wore a hard black hat, black coat, trowsers, and vest; is a rate collector. Description of FOUR PERSONS, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th October, 1887, in the barony of Newcastle, £ 100 REWARD. POISONING OF 18 HUNTERS AT CLONSILLA; COUNTY DUBLIN, ON 8TH OCTOBER, 1887. Captain H. Steeds offers above reward for such information as would lead to a conviction for above malicious act. And as large quantities of arsenic, or preparation of arsenic, have been found in the animals poisoned, and in the bran mashes used to convey the poison, it is desired . that all stations should look up chemists, druggists, grocers, & c., who may have sold arsenic, or arsenical preparations, such as sheep dips, & c., and communicate with R. C. COLERIDGE, IstD. I., R. I. C. Depot. Galway. Description of PATRICK WARD ( PADDY), native of Portumna, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of November, 1887, in the barony of Clonmacnoon, parish of Clontuskert, feloniously robbed one Michael White of his pipe and some tobacco:— Scars on left side of head; smart, active appearance ; shaves all his face ; grey or blue eyes; regular nose, fair complexion, thin, hardy face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a grey tweed coat, tweed trousers and vest; is a Poacher. Description of three tramps, who stand charged with having, on the 29th November, 1887, in the barony of Kilcullen, parish of Kilcullen, waylaid and robbed Maurice Dillon, of- Knockbounce, county Kildare, and stole from him one pale leather coloured purse fastened with one spring clasp, and which contained one shilling in silver and nine pence in coppers :— 1. DECEMBER 13, 1887 JOHN WILLIAMS, alias JOHN CHARLES, alias JOHN BERGIN, native of Plymouth, who has been committed for trial to the Winter Assizes, charged with burglary, and robbery of £ 19 7s. 10d., two bottles of whiskey, and some small articles ( which have all been recovered), the property of Mrs Anne Fennin, of Bracknagh. The accused, on the 27th October last, pawned a silver lever hunting watch, No. 26094 ; makers name, John Johnes, 338 " Strand." which is supposed to have been stolen. Any information re- garding him, including previous convictions, to be addressed to the District Inspector, Athy :— Marks of scar on left cheek, blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trousers, tweed vest; small light sandy moustache, no beard or whiskers; goes by the name of " Foxy Jack;" served in the army; stage dancer. Description of WILLIAM HOGAN, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 15th November, 1887, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, stolen a coat and vest, value for £ 1, and a pair of elastic side boots much worn, value for 4s.; the coat and vest have been found in a Pawn Office:— Cast in both eyes; regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age; is a Carpenter, and served 12 years in the Royal Engineers; smart active appearance. Description of GERALD JOSEPH GRIFFIN, believed to be a native of county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd November, 1887, in the barony of Kilkea and Moone, parish of Graney, stolen one dark gray frieze overcoat, with blue plaid lining, nearly new, one pair of strong nailed laced boots, with toe caps, and twelve stones of oats in a sack, the property of James Kavanagh, of Knocka- cree:— Slight fair moustache, blue eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK CRAIG, native of Rathdowney, Queen's county, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of April, 1887, in the barony of Ballycown, parish of Kilbride, wilfully deserted his wife Martha Craig and three children, at Tullamore, King's county, whereby they have become destitute and have been since in Tullamore Union Workhouse and receiving relief therein :— Three marks of small pox on right temple, round shoulders and short neck, large blue eyes, regular nose, florid com- plexion, round face, stout make, .5 feet 9 inches high, about 37 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a maltster. Description of PETER ROLLINS, native of Kilrush, county Clare, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of November, 1887, at Newcastle, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Newcastle, obtained a silver watch, value for about £ 2 10s. and 7s. 6d. in money, from Jeremiah Healy, of Newcastle, under false pretences :— Round stooped shoulders, gray eyes, large straight nose, pale complexion, long thin shrivelled face, very slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair ; wore a Scotch cap with broad crown, sometimes wears a round hard hat, black cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; itinerant watch mender. Descriptions of FRANCIS KEEFFE and MICHAEL REIDY, natives of Templeglautin, who stand charged with having," on the 16th April, 1887, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Abbeyfeale, at Abbeyfeale, committed an indecent assault on Nano McCarthy. For said offence they were returned for trial to Quarter Sessions, at Rathkeale, on 7th October, 1887, but failed to appear for trial at said Quarter Ses- sions :— 1. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark grey coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. 2. Grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trousers, and vest; is a Labourer. ( 85179 c 45770., Description of WILLIAM MURPHY ( Sen.) native of Appleto wn, county Limerick, who stands charged with having on the 26th day of October, 1887, in the Barony of Glenquin, parish of Mahoonagh, seriously assaulted William Murphy ( Junior), by striking him a blow on the head with a loaded butt from the effects of which his life is in danger :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, brown hair, wore a round hard hat, brown tweed coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; wore all his beard which is sandy except chin shaved; is a farmer. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1887, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Kileedy, forcibly taken and carried away one single barrelled rifle, the property of John Manley; the rifle was an old one of Military pattern and the men were ccompanied by a black greyhound. 1. Ill looking, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, light brown hair; wore a round hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers ; supposed to be a farmer. 2. Rather good looking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round lace, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, light hair ; wore a round hard hat, black frieze coat, corduroy trowsers ; supposed to be a farmer. « . Description of RICHARD UNThank native of England, who stands charged with having, on the 1 4th day of November, 1887, in the barony of Lower Dungannon, parish of Aghaloo, at Caledon, embezzled tlie sum of £ 450, the property of Earl of Caledon :— Downcast look; resembles a horse or cattle dealer, gray eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair; wore a low hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a land steward. Description of PATRICK M'ALEER, native of Dromore, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd September, 1887, in the barony of Strabane Lower, parish of Ardstraw, stolen a heifer, value for £ 11, the property of His Grace the Duke of Abercorn. The prisoner was arrested on the 22nd September, and was awaiting his trial on the 20th inst., in Omagh Gaol, from which he escaped this morning:— Good looking, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 17 years of age, light brown hair ; wore prison uniform, except cap and boots. Particulars relative to Convict JAMES BENSON A 767, convicted at Belfast, county Antrim, at the Recorder's Court, on 25th September, 1883, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 3 years police supervision:— 38 years of age on convic- tion, married, is a shoemaker; born in Lisburn, resided before conviction in Belfast, where his friends reside; brown hair, turning gray, gray eyes, dark brown eye- brows, large nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 31st August, 1887, and went to Belfast. On the 8rd November, 1887, he left for Manchester, and on the 9th of same month he reported to the Police that he was returning to Belfast, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under Section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 45 H. C.) Description of JOHN D. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 6th May, 1887. He left Lusk, county Dublin, on the 8th instant, and said he was going to Balbriggan, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown, In the event of his arrest he should bo dealt with under 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap 112. Particulars relative to Convict JOHN GERAGHTY, A 779, convicted at Galway Quarter Sessions, on 29th October, 1883, for larccny, and former conviction for felony, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 64 years of age on conviction, single, is a blacksmith, born in Minehill, near Headford, county Galway, resided before conviction in Shrule, county Galway, whore his friends reside :— gray hair, hazel eyes, gray eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fair complexion, worn visage, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost all front upper teeth. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, the 4th October, 1887, and went to Head- ford, county Galway. He left Headford, the 6th ultimo, stating that he was going to Shrule, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 109 H. c.) Particulars relative to Convict MARY GABRIEL, B 119, convicted at Waterford, at the Quarter Sessions, on 23rd January, 1884, lor larceny, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude-— 31 years of age on conviction, married, is a prostitute, prison trade, laundress; born in Waterford, resided before con- viction in Waterford, where her friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, long visage, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high. This woman was released from Grangegorman Prison on licence, the 18th June, 1887. She recently left her residence 17, Ardee- street, Dublin, without reporting same to the Police, and her present where- abouts is unknown. Description of JOHN WILLIAMSON, Clerk, whose apprehension is sought for stealing on the 19th instant, a cash box ( recovered) containing about £ 35, in silver, and a gold locket, oval shape, white enamelled with coloured flowers on front, engraved bark, with shield in centre ; has been repaired at the hinge :— Aged 30 years; height, 5 feet 8 inches; complexion sallow ( but tanned from exposure); eyes, brown; hair, brown ; slight side whiskers % nd moustache, brown ; has a bald place about the size of a half- penny piece on back of head, right side, which will be covered when wearing his hat; walks very erect. Native of Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire. Has served 5 years in the 13th Hussars, and was bought off on the 16th August, 1881. He joined the Lancashire Constabulary on the 26th September, 1881, and was discharged for misconduct on the 18th January, 1882, and since then has been tramping about the country.
