All Notices Intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to tho Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to tho Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. > All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this imturo unless they have tho Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. . Prison and Polioo Authorities aro particularly requested to be good raough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the aliolition of Guols, Stations, ifcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ( d.) Property stolen. ( e.) Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of ROBERT JAMES DAVIDSON, native of Carclinty, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on tho 23rd September, 1887, at Skerry West, in tho barony of Kilconway, parish of Newtowncrumlin, presented a gun at, and threatened to shoot Thomas Tafts, a Gamekeeper ;— Smart activo appcaruncc, no beard or whiskers, blue eyes, regular nose, ftiir complexion, round face, medium mako, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, very fair hair; woro a brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. The Royal Irish Constabulary at Bally menu hold a warrant for his arrest. Ballymena, Sept. 26, 1887. ( 81012 c.— 43817.) Description of TWO PERSONS, names and native places nnknown, who stand charged with having, on the 5th August, 1887, in tho barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, obtained a gold watch, chain, and diamond cut gold brooch and ear- rings, by false pretences, all value for ,£ 9.108:— J. Gray eyes, regular noso, fresh complexion, full face, medium mako, 5 feot 8 inchos high, about 35 years ol age, dark hair, dark moustache, board, and whiskers ; wore a black cloth coat, light twcod trowsers, and black cloth vest; dressed as a clergy- man, with low soft black hat. Has- been in America, and will likely endeavour to return there; apparently a clergyman. 2. Red birth mark on left sido of nock, gray eyes, regular noso, fair complexion, regular faco, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; woro a white straw hat trimmed with white lace, and cream coloured silk dress; wife of above. The Police at Ballymcna hold a Warrant for arrest of both the above. Ballymena, August 8, 1887. ( 83040 o.— 42272.) Description of JAMES WALLS, native of Randalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 5th of August, 1887, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Donegore, attempted to commit a rape on one Roseanna M'Millen, of Donegore:— Round shoulders, dark eyes, aquiline nose, dark complexion, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a low hard hat, gray coat, dark trowsers, patches on knees ; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK ROONEY, native place not known, WILLIAM HENRY DEACON, native of Glasgow, JOHN M'DONNELL, WILLIAM LEE, EDWARD BARRY, native places not known, and JOHN JAMESON, native of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 30th July, 1887, in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffe, stolen the sum of twenty sovereigns, from the house of John M'Gann of Market- street, Ennis :— 1 • Bald on top of head, slightly round slioulders, smart appearance, wore all his beard clipped rather close, turning gray, gray moustachc, dark blue eyes, cocked nose, pale complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 60 years of age, gray hair ; wore' a round hard black hat, rather long black coat, trowsers, and vest. 2. Scar on bridge of nose, bald on top of head smart appearance, dark side whiskers turning gray, clipped close, shaves his chin, dark moustache, dark eyes, hooked noso, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a brown soft hat ( American style), tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 3. Lost some teeth from front of mouth, dark brown moustache, sullen looking, dark piercing eyes, sallow complexion, thin face, active make, 5 feet 7^ inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a round black hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 4. Round shoulders, rather short neck, small fair moustache, gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. .5. Small fair moustache, . small gray eyes, slight nose, fair complexion, regular face, active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 6. Very small fair moustache, blue eyes, short cocked nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard black hat, light coloured dust Coat, striped tweed trowsers, and vest. These six men returned for trial on 5th August. Any information regarding them, including previous convictions, to be addressed to District Inspector at Ennis. Ennis, August 7, 1887. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on tho 5th October, 1887, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, at Upton, county Cork:— JAMES SHERIDAN, 11 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, regular nose, medium mouth ; formerly belonged to Mallow; parents reside at Mallow, and are travelling tinkers. The school dress consists of corduroy trowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, tweed pea jacket, bluo striped shirt, all with Reformatory Stamp, Glengarry cap, nai'od boots, fastened with leather straps. Two of the boy's brothers, aged 17 and 14 years, came to see him oa Wednesday last, and took him away. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 102 H. c.) Description of JEREMIAH HURLEY and JAMES HURLEY ( mothers' surname Burke), natives of Kilbarry, Dunmanway, who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of September, 1887, in tho barony of East Division West Carbery, parish of Fanlobbus, seriously assaulted Robert Cambridge, SheritPs bailiff, and James Bruen, Constable Royal Irish Constabulary, and rescued cattle from the cus- tody of the former :— 1. Heavy gait, two front teeth broken, dark eyes, long nose, yellow complexion, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet ten inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a black frieze coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Rather broken nose, dark gray eyes, sallow com- plexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a black frieze coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmers son, and brother to No. 1. Description of THOMAS O'NEILL, native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 14th August, 1887, in the barony of West Offaley, parish of Ballyshannon, stolen a quantity of wearing apparel :— Arms bronzed to above elbows, result of being fireman on board steamers, slight cast in one eye, square shoulders, woro moustache and slight side whiskers " in front of ears, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, rather thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; woro a jerry hat, white moleskin jacket, old gray tweed trowsers, no vest, and strong nailed boots j is a tramp labonrer ; may bo employed as fireman. Description of AARON HELLER, native of Russian Poland, who stanls charged with having on the 21st day of Sjpte nbor, 1837, in the Municipal B) rough, parish of St. John's Within, abscovlal from Waterford, felonio isly taking with him a sun of £ 21 I5j. sterling, and a quantity of tweed and Cashmere, value for about £ 2 18s. sterling, which was entrusted to his care to bo conveyed to Kilkenny, an 1 which is the property of one William J. Diamond:— Walks with a short quick step, very high forehea 1, grey pitch over one ear, speaks bad English, small dark eyes, regular nOse, sunburnt complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 9inches high, about 42 years of age ( but looks younger), dark hair, dark brnvn be ird mixed with grey; woro a black hard hat, hi wk morning coat, striped tweel trowsers, and black morning vest; is a Commercial Traveller for Drapery home; may be accompanied by a small woman, about twenty years old. FITT, native of Limerick, who stands charged witli having, on tho 13th day of September, 1887, in the barony of Muni- cipal Borough, parish of Trinity Within, absconded from the Waterford Branch of the Provincial Bank, feloniously taking with him a sum of £ 457 sterling, which he received in said Bank in his capacity as a Clerk in said branch :— Walks with a military appear- ance, very erectly, hollow in back, turns in his toes slightly when walking, rather small and well shaped feet, good looking, very pleasing countenance, remark- ably white teeth, shaves all face, wore a dark moustache; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, legalar face, medium mike, 5 feet 10 inches high, auout 35 years of age, dark hair; probably wore a black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers an 1 vest, d irk top coat, generally wears a sask made coat; Cashier in Waterford Branch of Provincial Bank. G Division^ Particulars relative to Convict JOHN SMITH, A 747, convicted at Maryboro,' Queen's County, at tho Summer Assizes, on 9th July, 1883, for stealing, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 66 years of age on conviction, single, carpenter, born at Bally- jamesduff, county Cavan, resided before conviction in Dublin, his friends reside at Bride- street, Dublin ; gray hair, blue eyes, gray eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high ; left little finger contracted, cut scars on face. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, on lst August, 1887, and went to reside in Dublin. He notified to the Metropolitan Police on the 24th ult. his intention of going to Carlow, but he has not reported himself at the latter placc, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 97 n. c.) Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK MORRISSY, A 676, convicted at Ros- common Spring Assizes, on 14th March, 1883, for felony of a gun, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 22 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Moylough, county Galway, resided before conviction at Moylough, where his friends reside; brown hair, blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh complex- ion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 8| inches high. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on Licence the 3rd of June, 1887, and went to reside in Dublin. He left his lodgings, 123, Francis- street, without reporting to Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 97 H. C.) rvf .. Description of JAMES M'KIERNAN ( mother's surnamo Donovan), native of Drumhalla, who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1837, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, attempted to commit rape on the person of Rose Doyle Slight whiskers un lor oars, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout maki, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair j wore a soft black hat, black cloth coat, black cord trowsers, black cloth vest; is a farmer's son. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stml charged with having, ot tlie 26th Septomber, 1837, in tho barony of Glenquin, parish ot Kileedy, forcibly taken an 1 c irried away one single barrelled rifle, the property of John Manley; the rifle was an old ono of Military pattorn and tin mon wore accompanied by a black greyhound. 1. Ill looking, gray or blue eyes, regular noso, pile complexion, thin faco, medium make, 5 foot 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 ye irs of ag i, light brown hair; woro a r mnd hard hat, gray tweed coat anl trowsors ; supposed to be a farmor. 2. Rather good looking, gray oy os, regular noso, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 ye irs of age, light hair; wore a round hard hat, bla : k frieze coat corduroy trousers; supposed to be a farmer. Description of PATRICK ShEEHAN, mother's surnamo FITZGERALD, native of Cloghadoolarty, who stands chargod with having, on the llthdayof September, 1887, in tho barony of Small County, parish of Felamoro, assaulted and wo in led James kavanagh, by subbing him in the head with knife or other sharp instrument, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inchos high, about 24 or 25 years of ago, dark brown hair } woro a round • oft black hat, black frieze coat, dark tweed trowsors, and dark vest; is a labourer. Description of WILLAIM PARKE ( mother's surname Crawford), native of Castlerock, who stands charge ! with having, on tho 5th October, 1887, in tho half- barony of Coleraine, parish of Aghadowey, assaulted one James Graham, by stabbing him in tho neck and side with a knife or some sharp instrument, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm:— Walks with' a swaggering gait, b! ue eyes, cocked nose, fair complexion, long faco, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of ago ; woro a blue hunting cap, brown t . voc 1 coat, trowser. s, and vest; is u 1 ibourer. Description of PATRICK CASSIDY, native of Moyheeland, who stands charge 1 with having, on the 5th day of August, 1887, in the barony of Loughin- shollen, parish of Ballinascreen, seriously stabbed one Peter M'Gurk with a knife, thereby endangering his life:— Large ears, red lips, largo hooked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 yours of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, gray coat, and white tro vsers; is a labourer. Description of JOHN COLLINS, native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of Septomber, 1837, at Beamore, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of St. Mary's, stolen two heifers, value £ 10 each, the property of Mrs. M. Matthews, Ballymakenny, county Louth, since re- covered in Salford Market:— Bluo eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, modium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore a hard hat, tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a cattle dealer and farmer. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 8th September, 1887, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Dunshaughlin, attempted to unlawfully and carnally know Eliza Kavanagh, a girl under 13 years of ago : Walks with a slight stoop, brown whiskers, turning gray at jaws, shaves chin, but had a few days' growth Wcstmeath. Description of TWO MEN, nanus and nativo place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 18th September, 1837, a^ out I o'clock, p. m., in tho barony of Clonloion parish of Ballyloughloe, visited tho house of Michael Hindes, of Shurock, put him on his knees, beat him with a stick on the head, fired a shot from a pistol near his face, and threatened him: - I. Stout make, about 5 feet 9 inchcs high, about 35 years of age; woro a gray frieze frock coat an 1 soft black hat. 2. Smaller than No. 1, milium make, about 35 years of age; wore a gray tweel coat, gray trowsers and vest. Moate, September 19, 1837. ( 81018 c.— 43813.) Wicklow. Description of CHRISTOPHER DOOLAN, nativo of 4, Watery- lane, Old Kilmainham, Dublin, or may be found at Kingstown, where ho lived for some tirao with a cabbage woman, who stands charged with having, on the 5th Septomber, 1887, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Powerscourt, stolen 3 sovereigns, the property of Margaret Byrne:— Gray or bluo eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet high, about 14 years of age, red sandy hair; woro a two- peaked tweed cap, lo ig black coat, gray twcod trowsers, and dark vest. Warrant issued for his arrist. Bray, Septomber 7, 1837. ( 33330 c.— 13187. Description of CATHERINE DARCY mother's surnamo Noblett, native of Ballymaghroe, who stands charged with hiving, on or about the 20th August, 1887, in tho barony of Ballinacor South, parish of Moync, stolen the following articles from out of the dwelling- house of Rose Dalton :— One buff skirt, two girls buff jackets, one brown straw hat with aigret in front, one pair of woman's elastic boots ( nearly now), and the sum of 10s.:— Thick lips, largo moutb, awk- ward gait; brown eyes, thick short nose, broad faco, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair; supposed lo be wearing tho stolon clothes ; Is believed to have gone to her uncle, William Darcy, a tram- car driver, who resides at Clare Cottage, Beach or strand- road, Sandymount, Dublin. Warrant in hands of Dublin Metropolitan Police. Timohely, August, 2", 1847. ( 33311 c. 42893.) Rootle. IMPORTANT £ 5 REWARD. Wanted here for stealing £ 113 odd, from tho barracks at Seafoith, near Liverpool, and also for deserting from the Royal Artillery :— 1. Gunner JOHN BROWN, about 24 years old, 5 feet 7 inchcs high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right forearm and cn forehead, two small scars on back, " 2" tattooed on back of left hand1; groom and coachman by trade. Native of Manchester. 2. Gunner JAMES WILLIAM SMYTH, about 20 years old, 5 feet 9| inchcs high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, scar on forehead, " J. W." and anchor tattooed on left forearm, slightly flat- footed; a servant and native of Stephney, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Both have taken their regimentals, but in all proba- bility will not be wearing them. Smyth left behind a letter addressed " Miss Pook, Gold- hill, Farnham, Surrey," and may have gone there. A person ( evidently a soldier) has written Brown, asking him to be at Navan, about thirty miles from Dublin, next Sunday; Brown may have gone or go as requested. Please have every inquiry made, and if found arrest, and communicate with the Superintendent, County Police Office, Bootlo, near Liverpool, who will pay the reward for the arrest and conviction of the thieves. Description of JOHN IVEY, who was recently the Agent at Penrith of the Singer Manufacturing Com- pany, who is charged with misappropriating £ 7 2s. 9d., belonging to the Company:— 33 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, lightish brown moustache, no whiskers, proportionate figure, active and square build; wore a brown cliecl: tweed jackct suit; native of the South of England. Before coming to Penrith be was in the same employ'' mcnt at Ncwcastle- on- Tync; has been in iho army, and also in the Forfar Militia. Warrant issued. Silver hunting lever watch, No. 18587, maker " John Fisher & Son, Glasgow," whito dial, gold hands, and steel seconds, dinge near edge of back ease, having attached a gold Albert,; 9 carat, long and small link alternately with gold ring, having buckle with small diamond in contre for appendage ; also gold scarf pin ( horse shoe pattern). Wanted here for theft of £ 886, consisting of £ 500 in £ 1 notes, British Linen Company's bank; £ 85 in £ 5 notes, other banks; £ 271 in £ 1 notes, various banks, and £ 30 in £ 5 notes, Bank of England, from the British Linen Company's Bank, Charing- cross, on 25th inst.:— 1st. A man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown whiskers, cut short, and heavy dark moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit and round felt black hat. 2nd. About same age and height, dressed in a brown tweed suit, and black felt hat. 3rd. A man about 40 years of age, tall and stout made, round full face, no whiskers, heavy dark brown moustache; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, light- coloured trowsers and black felt hat. 4th. A man from 35 to 40 years of age, short and stout, dark brown whiskers and moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit, and black ( thinks soft) felt hat. All spoke with slight foreign accent ( thinks German); and one of them carried a small leather bag. While three of the men kept the bank teller and clerk in conversation, at front of the counter, the fourth man went round behind the teller, into his box, and lifted the bundle of notes— the door of the box being left open. The person after described was convicted before the Sheriff Court, Perth, on 11th August, 1887, on a charge of killing grouse out of season, and was sentenced to pay a fine of £ 33 within ten days, or suffer 88 days imprisonment. As he has not pail his fine, a Sherrift's Warrant has now been issued for his apprehension : — ALEXANDER MACDONALD BEATON, a mason, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches in height, ordinary make, dark hair and moustacho, swarthy complexion, a native of Strathardle, Perthshire, but has spent a good part of his time in Dundee.
