C^ P" All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature uuless they have tho Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * » * Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, Jcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of ROBERT JAMES DAVIDSON, native of Carclinty, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd September, 1887, at Skerry West, in the barony of Kilconway, parish of Newtowncrumlin, presented a gun at, and threatened to shoot Thomas Tafts, a Gamekeeper ;— Smart active appearance, no beard or whiskers, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, very fair hair; wore a brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO PERSONS, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 5th August, 1887, in tho barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, obtained a gold watch, chain, and diamond cut gold brooch and ear- rings, by false pretences, all value for £ 9 10s :— 1. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache, beard, and whiskers; wore a black cloth coat, light tweed trowsers, and black cloth vest; dressed as a clergy- man, with low soft black hat. Has been in America, and will likely endeavour to return there; apparently a clergyman. 2. Red birth mark on left side of neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore a white straw hat trimmed with white lace, ancj, cream coloured silk dress; wife of above. Description of JAMES WALLS native of Randalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 5th of August, 11) 87, in tho barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Donegore, attempted to commit a rape on one Roseanna M'Millen, of Donegore:— Round shoulders, dark eyes, aquiline nose, dark complexion, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a low hard hat, gray coat, dark trowsers, patches on knees ; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK ROONEY, native place not known, WILLIAM HENRY DEACON, native of Glasgow, JOHN M'DONNELL, WILLIAM LEE, EDWARD BARRY, native places not known, and JOHN JAMESON, native of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 30th July, 1887, in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffe, stolen the sum of twenty sovereigns, from the house of John M'Gann of Market- street, Ennis :— 1. Bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, smart appearance, wore all his beard clipped rather close, turning gray, gray moustache, dark blue eyes, cocked nose, pale complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 60 years of age, gray hair ; wore a round hard black hat, rather long black coat, trowsers, and vest. 2. Scar on bridge of nose, bald on top of head smart appearance, dark side whiskers turning gray, clipped close, shaves his chin, dark moustache, dark eyes, hooked noso, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a brown soft hat ( American style), tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. a 3. Lost some teeth from front of mouth, dark brown/' moustache, sullen looking, dark piercing eyes, sallow complexion, thin face, active make, 5 feet inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a round black hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. . 4. Round shoulders, rather short neck, small ® ir moustache, gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 5. Small fair moustache, small gray eyes, slight nose, fair complexion, regular face, active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair ; wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 6. Very small fair moustache, blue eyes, short cocked nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard black hat, light coloured dust coat, striped tweed trowsers, and vest. Heavy gait, two front teeth broken, dark eyes, long nose, yellow complexion, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet ten inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a black frieze coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Rather broken nose, dark gray eyes, sallow com- plexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a black frieze coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest ; is a farmer's son( and brother to No. 1. Description of AARON HELLER, native of Russian Poland, who stands charged with having on the 21st day of September, 1887, in the Municipal Borough, parish of St. John's Within, absconded from Waterford, feloniously taking with him a sum of £ 24 15s. sterling, and a quantity of tweed and Cashmere, value for about £ 2 18s. sterling, which was entrusted to his care to be conveyed to Kilkenny, and which is the property of one William J. Diamond:— Walks with a short quick step, very high forehead, grey patch over one ear, speaks bad English, small dark eyes, regular nose, sunburnt complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 ffeet 9 inches high, about 42 years of age ( but looks yotinger), dark hair, dark brown beard mixed with grey; wore a black hard hat, black morning coat, striped tweed trowsers, and black morning vest; is a Commercial Traveller for Drapery house; may be accompanied by a small woman, about twenty years old. FITT, native of Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of September, 1887, in the barony of Muni- cipal Borough, parish of Trinity Within, absconded from the Waterford Branch of the Provincial Bank, feloniously taking with him a sum of £ 457 sterling, which he received in said Bank in his capacity as a Clerk in said branch:— Walks with a military appear- ance, very erectly, hollow in back, turns in his toes slightly when walking, rather small and well shaped feet, good looking, very pleasing countenance, remark- ably white teeth, shaves all face, wore a dark moustache; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, legular face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair ; probably wore a black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers and vest, dark top coat, generally wears a sack made coat; Cashier in Waterford Branch of Provincial Bank. Description of TWO MEN, names and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 18th September, 1887, ahout 1 o'clock, p. m., in the barony of Clonlonon, parish of Ballyloughloe, visited the house of Michael Hindes, of Shurock, put him on his knees, beat him wilSi a stick on the head, fired a shot from a pistol near his face, and threatened him :— 1. Stout make, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 35 years of age ; wore a gray frieze frock coat and soft black hat. 2. Description of CHRISTOPHER DOOLAN, native of 4, Watery- lane, Old Kilmainham, Dublin, or may be found at Kingstown, where he lived for some time with a cabbage woman, who stands charged with having, on the 5th September, 1887, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Powerscourt, stolen 3 sovereigns, the property of Margaret Byrne:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet high, about 14 years of age, red sandy hair; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, long black coat, gray tweed trowsers, and dark vest. ' Description of CATHERINE DARCY mother's surname Noblett, native of Ballymaghroe, who stands charged with having, on or about the 20th August, 1887, in tho barony of Ballinacor South, parish of Moync,. stolen the following articles from out of the dwelling- house of Rose Dalton :— One buff skirt, two giff, buff jackets, one brown straw hat with aigret in front, one pair'" of woman's elastic boots ( nearly new), and the sum of 10s.:— Thick lips, large mouth, awk- ward gait; brown eyes, thick short nose, broad face, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair ; supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes ; Is believed to have gone to her uncle, William Darcy, a tram- car driver, who resides at Clare Cottage, Beach or strand- road, Sandymount, Dublin. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 1st August, 1887, and went to reside in Dublin. He notified to the Metropolitan Pctwi the 24th ult. his intention of going to Carlow, but he has not reported himself at the latter plac&,-* ndrfi » present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK MORRISSY, A 676, convicted at Ros- common Spring Assizes, on 14th March, 1883, for felony of a gun, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 22 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Moylough, county Galway, resided before conviction at Moylough, where his friends reside; brown hair, blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh complex- ion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 8f inches high. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on Licence the 3rd of June, 1887, and went to reside in Dublin. He left his lodgings, 123, Francis- street, without reporting to Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Wanted here for stealing £ 113 odd, from the barracks at Seaforth, near Liverpool, and also for deserting from the Royal Artillery :— 1. Gunner JOHN BROWN, about 24 years old, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right forearm and on forehead, two small scars on back, " 2" tattooed on back of left hand; groom and coachman by trade. Native of MHDchGstci'. 2. Gunner JAMES WILLIAM SMYTH, about 20 years old, 5 feet 9J inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, scar on forehead, " J. W." and anchor tattooed on left forearm, slightly flat- footed ; a servant and native of Stephney, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Both have taken their regimentals, but in all proba- bility will not be wearing them. Smyth left behind a letter addressed " Miss Pook, Gold- hill, Farnham, Surrey," and may have gone there. A person ( evidently a soldier) has written Brown, asking him to be at Navan, about thirty miles from Dublin, next Sunday ; Brown may have gone or go as requested. Please have every inquiry made, and if found arrest, and communicate with the Superintendent, County Police Office, Bootle, near Liverpool, who will pay the reward for the arrest and conviction of the thieves. Description of JOHN IYEY, who was recently the Agent at Penrith of the Singer Manufacturing Com- pany, who is charged with misappropriating £ 7 2s. 9d., belonging to the Company:— 33 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, lightish brown moustache, no whiskers, proportionate figure, active and square build; wore a brown checl: tweed jacket suit; native of the South of England. Before coming to Penrith he was in the same employ, ment at Newcastle- on- Tyne; has been in the army, and also in the Forfar Militia. Warrant issued. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1887, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Kileedy, forcibly taken and carried away one single barrelled rifle, the property of John Manley; the rifle was an old one of Military pattern and the men were accompanied by a black greyhound. 1. Ill looking, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, light brown hair; wore a round hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers ; supposed to be a farmer. 2. Rather good looking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, light hair ; wore a round hard hat, black frieze coat, corduroy trowsers ; supposed to be a farmer. Description of PATRICK SHEEHAN, mother's surname FITZGERALD, native of Cloghadoolarty, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of September, 1887, in the barony of Small County, parish of Fedamore, assaulted and wounded James Kavanagh, by stabbing him in the head with a knife or other sharp instrument, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a round soft black hat, black frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Description ol a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 8th September, 1887, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Dunshaughlin, attempted to unlawfully and carnally know Eliza Kavanagh, a girl under 13 years of age :— Walks with a slight stoop, brown whiskers, turning gray at jaws, shaves chin, but had a few days' growth of beard thereon ; florid complexion, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age ; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and plaid vest; appearance of a drover. Description of KIRBY, alias HYNES, and KIRBY, alias HYNES, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, betwen the 1st and 5th August, 1887, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Fethard, stolon from the dwelling- house of John White, a suit of clothes, since found pawned in Clonmel:— 1. Sandy complexion, " j feet 2 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore a straw hat, dark tweed coat, tiowsera, and vest; is a pedlar— dealing in handker- chiefs, & c.; carries a leather bag. 2. Five feet two inches high, about 35 years of age ; wore a hairy brown shawl and head dress; a smart looking woman, speaks with a Cork accent, and dresses well; is a pedlar, and supposed to be wife of No. 1. Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of 25th ult., in the barony of Decies- without- Drum, parish of Kilmolash, stolen two donkeys, the property of Patrick Kelly and John Dwyer, which he sold to Mr. John Curren, of Ballinamultina, for the use of his hounds. He is also charged with stealing a mule, the property of Daniel Lysaght, of Rathcormack sub- district, county Cork :— Dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, G Division. On the 25th instant— Silver half- hunting lever watch, No. 53139, maker " Brown, Duke- strcet, Kilmarnock," white dial, gold hands and steel seconds, carved cases, blue enamelled figures on front case, and small glass wanting ; glass inside cracked opposite chapter vi., having attached a silver Albert ( curb pattern). NOTE.— An owner has now been found for gold watch and coin mentioned in newspapers last week as unclaimed at this office. Wanted here for theft of £ 886, consisting of £ 500 in £ 1 notes, British Linen Company's bank; £ 85 in £ 5 notes, other banks; £ 271 in £ 1 notes, various banks, and £ 30 in £ 5 notes, Bank of England, from the British Linen Company's Bank, Charing- cross, on 25th inst.:— 1st. A man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown whiskers, cut short, and heavy dark moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit and round felt black hat. 2nd. About same age and height, dressed in a brown tweed suit, and black felt hat. 3rd. A man about 40 years of age, tall and stout made, round full face, no whiskers, heavy dark brown moustache; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, light- coloured trowsers and black felt hat. 4th. A man from 35 to 40 years of age, short and stout, dark brown whiskers and moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit, and black ( thinks soft) felt hat. All spoke with slight foreign accent ( thinks German) ; and one of them carried a small leather bag. While three of the men kept the bank teller and clerk in conversation, at front of the counter, the fourth man went round behind the teller, into his box, and lifted the bundle of notes— the door of the box being left open. The persons after described were convicted before the Sheriff Court, Perth, on 11th August, 1887, on a charge of killing grouse out of season, and were each sentenced to pay a fine of £ 33 within ten days, or suffer 88 days imprisonment. As none of the parties have paid their fines, a SherrifFs Warrant has now been issued for their apprehension :— 1. JOHN FARQUHARSON, labourer, gunsmith, or poacher, aged 49 years, looks older, 5 feet 9 inches in height, native of Glenisla, Forfarshire, gray hair and moustache ( almost white), shaved on cheeks, but may allow his beard to grow, fresh complexion and stout make. A famous Blairgowrie Volunteer Rifle shot, and notorious grouse poacher, well known in East Perthshire and Forfarshire. 2. ROBERT JOHN STEWART, labourer or gamekeeper, aged 28 years, 5 feet 9 inches in height, slender make, fresh complexion, brown hair, fair moustache and small side whiskers, born at Penrith, Cumberland, but brought up in Glenshee, Perthshire ; up till recently was employed as a Gamekeeper in Essex, where he spent the past three or four years. 3. ALEXANDER MACDONALD BEATON, a mason, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches in height, ordinary make, dark hair and moustache, swarthy complexion, a native of Strathardle, Perthshire, but has spent a good part of his time in Dundee. The police are requested to search for and apprehend the accused, or any of them, and, failing payment of the fines or fine, convey direct to Perth, or wire to the subscriber, who will immediately send for them.
