ATION8. fjr All Notices intended for insortion in the Hme- aad- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Rov% l Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to the Inspcctor- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of jiersons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this, nature unless they have the Warrant in thoir possession. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will bo necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thin information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the Volition of Gaols, Stations, Ac., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Clare. f ~ Description of PATRICK KEARNEY, native of O'Brien's Castle, who stands charged with having, on the 17th March, 1887, in the barony of Upperbunrattv, parish of Inchicronan, dangerously assaulted Constable Thomas Sweeney, thereby placing his life in danger ;— Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair j is a farmer's son. Description of JAMES DUFFY, native of county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 11th April, 1887, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Tulloughobegley, entered the house of Hugh Conaghan, and severely assaulted the latter:— Rather smart appearance, no whiskers or moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7i inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, black tweed coat, gray trowsers, black tweed vest, and elastic- sided boots; is a baker. Description of MARGARET SALSBURY, native of Enniskillen, wJb stands cfiarged with having, on the 1st day of June, 1887, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, Upper Half, parish of Hillsboro', and townland of Ballykeelartifiney, abandoned and exposed her male child, about one month old, whereby the life of said child was endangered:— Sore eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a white straw hat, trimmed with black velvet, red plaid shawl, a pair Of new elastic boots; was accompanied by a boy, about 1 year and 9 months old. Description of A MAN, name and native place I unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 27th or morning of 28th April, 1887, in the barony of Coolock, parish of Malahide, stolen 17 wether sheep ( which have been recovered), value £ 60, the property of one Michael Cahill:— Gray eyes, regular nose, sunburnt complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 40 years of age dark brown hair, and slight side whiskers; wore a brown tweed coat, dark trowsers, brown tweed vest, watch and chain ( apparently brass); had the appear- ance of a land steward. Galway, Description of MARTIN MORRIN ( mother's surname Flynn), native of Cloughbrack, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 31st day of May, 1887, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, grievously assaulted Michael Morrin, from the ! effects of which his life is in danger:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, five feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 18 or 19 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a white flannel coat and trowsers; is a farmer's son. Description of DEBORAH SHEA and MICHAEL SHEA, natives of Dooks, who stand charged with having on the ,17th day of April, 1887, in the barony of Iveragh, parish of Killorglin, ( together with four others who are now returned for trial to next Assizes) wilfully and feloniously murdered one Michael Burkett, of Dooks :— 1. Slightly lame, dark eyes, thick nose, red com- plexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore an old faded shawl and red flannel petticoat is a farmer's daughter. 2, Gray eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, regular nose, medium make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age ; wore 6 black cap, grey tweed jacket, old corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a farmer's son. Description . of JAMES CAHILL, native of Glennacoppal, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 20th February, 1887, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Killarney, been one of a party who murdered Cornelius Murphy, of Cools, by shooting him in the leg, from the effect of which he died the same night:— Prominent mouth, teeth exposed, slight scar between nose and ear on left side of face, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; is a farmers' son. Description of WILLIAM SWEENEY, native of city of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 27th day of March, 1887, in the borough of Kil- kenny, parish of St. Canice, stolen about £ 50 the property of his father, out of a box in his dwelling- house:— dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair; wore a round black hard hat, dark tweed crossbar coat, dark gray trowsers and vest; is a baker. Description of JOHN CRAVEN alias LYNAM, native of county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 26th day of May, 1887, in the barony of Geashill, parish of Geashill, stolen an ass and cart ( since recovered), and nine shillings, the property of Mrs. Pilkington, of Geashill:— Large mouth, gray eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair, no beard, short brown moustache, swaggering gait, stammers when sgeaking; wore a faded gray coat* trowsers, and vest; is a tramp, and has served in the army. Description of MARY KERSHAW, native ot Frankford, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Ballycowan, parish of Lynally, feloniously abandoned her infant child, whereby the life of said child was endangered:— dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, • light make, five feet four inches high, about 25 year* of age, dark hair; wore a black hat, dark jacket, ami black dress; is a domestic servant. Description of PATRICK RYAN, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the' 10th of March, 1887, in the barony of Ballycowan, parish of Kilbride, stolen a plaid shawl ( since re- covered), the property of Mrs. Quinn, Tullamore:— Pimples on face, gray or blue eyes, long nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair, fair moustache, mixed with gray, no beard ; wore a hard brown hat, brown coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a pensioner from the army, also a tramp and attends races, & c., an l generally travels along with a man named " Barry," an itinerant street tumbler. Warrant in hands of the Tullamore Police. Tullamore, May 3,1887 ( 81265 c.— 39590.) Limerick. Description of NANO M'CARTHY, native of Nicholas- street, Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 10th June, 1887, in the barony of Glenguin, parish of Abbeyfeale, failed to appear at Rathkeale Quarter Sessions to prosecute her deposition, she being bound to attend on 10th June, 1887 :— Blue or gray eyes, short nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3- 4 or inches high, about 60 ( sixty) years of age, fair hair ( nearly gray); wore old worn clothes; is an itinerant, attends fairs, races, selling matches, etc. Abbeyfeale, June 13, 1887. Description of MICHAEL HOGAN, native of Ballinphonta, county Clare, and BARTHOLOMEW LAWLOR, native of Kilbaha, county Kerry, who stand charged with having, on the 14th March, 1887, at Killea, barony of Lower Connelloe, parish of Croagh, county Limerick, and in the barony of Lower Kilnamanagh, parish of Donohill, embezzled several sums of money amounting to £ 20 ( twenty pounds), the property of their master, John Cohoon, Tea Mer- chant, at Rathkeale :— 1. Stout square make, gray eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 23 years of ago ; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a car driver, delivering tea, but looks like a shop assistant. 2. Down looking, sunken gray eyes, prominent nose, brown complexion, sharp face, slight active make, 6 foet high, about 20 years ot age ; wore a gray tweed eoat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a car driver, delivering tea. Warrant for their arrest in the hands of the District Inspector at Dundrum, county Tip- perary. • Rathkeale, May 17, 1887. ( 81245 c.— 39993.) Description of JOHN REDDAN ( mother's surname llyan), native of Cappamore, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of April, 1887, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Turagh, assaulted Patrick Finnucane by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby fracturing his skull, and placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, active make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard hat, blue sack coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant for his arrest in tho hands of the District Inspector at New Pallas. New Pallas, April 20, 1887. < 80998 c.— 39169.) Description of MICHAEL KNIGHT, native of Staffordshire, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of March, 1887, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Patrick's, stolen a saw, the property of Courtney Croker, of Park, in this city, value for about 1:— Speaks with an English accent, black moustache, shaves rest of face, brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather thin face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore an old blue coat and tweed trowsers ; is a carpenter. It is believed this man is gone in the direction of Belfast. Warrant for his arrest in hands of Police here. The saw has been found in a Pawn Office in this city. Limerick, April 9, 1887. Mayo. Description of JOHN MAHON, native of Kila- dangan, who stands charged with having, on the 18tb February, 1887, in the barony of costello, parish of Kilcolman, murdered one Edward Luby:— Large forehead, dark heavy eyebrows, sunken gray or blue eyes, short nose sunk between eyes, pale complexion, Lroad face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Ballaghaderreen, Mar. 7, 1887. ( 79607 c.— 37618.) Meath. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 24th June, 1887, in the barony of Skryne, parish of Macetown, stolen eight hogget sheep, the property of William Keogh, of Painstown :— Heavy dark mous- tache, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age ; wore a black hat, light tweed suit, and buttoned boots, respectably dressed, and wore a ring. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 16th April, 1887, in the barony of Upper Navan, parish of Bective, stolen 2 sheep ( since recovered), the property of N. L. Logan, Esquire, of Grange :— Sandy hair and moustache, blue eyes, small hooked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, dirty and uneven teeth, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, ; wore a black frock coat, tweed trowsers worn at bottom, dark vest; apparently a drover. Description of THREE PERSONS, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of April, 1887, in the barony of Corran, parish of Emlaghfad, seriously assaulted one Martin Coggins, of Carrowmurray, by striking him on the head with a stone and a loaded whip handle, fracturing his skull, whereby his life is in danger :— 1. Very black moustache, no whiskers, long neck, drooped nose, swarthy complexion, thin face, 5 feet 6 inches high, between 20 and 25 years of age, black hair; wore a black cloth coat and vest; is of the farming class. 2. Very broad shoulders, no whiskers or moustache, very fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, between 20 and 9.5 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is of the farming class. 3. Fair complexion, about 16 or 17 years of age, dark gray coat and vest; is of the farming class. Ballymote, April 26, 1887. ( 81171 c.— 39448.) Tipperary. Description of Licensed Convict DANIEL RYAN, No. 1,229, native of Borrisokane, whostands charged with having, on the 2nd or 3rd June, 1887, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Nenagh, changed his resi- dence without notifying same to the Constabulary:— Nose has been broken, large burn mark on left side of neck and on left shoulder; blue eyes, broken nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 57 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Was discharged from Maryborough Prison on ticket of licence on 1st March, 1887. Nenagh, June 27, 1887. ( 82138 c.— 40890.) Description of WILLIAM CARROLL ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Templemore, who stands charged with having, on the 28th May, 1887, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Templemore, stolen a keg of ale, the property of J. F. Smithwick, esq.:— Down- looking dogged appearance; blue eyes, thick nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a black hat, brown coat, black trowsers, brown vest; is a labourer, and generally breaks stones for the roads. Description of JOHN BURKE and EDWARD BURKE, natives of KnockhonadufF, who stand charged with having, on tho 13th May, 1887, at Glenough, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, parish of Clonoulty, stolen 6 heifers ( since recovered), the property of Patrick Hickey ;— 1. May have old cut marks on head, small eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 50 years of age, black hair; wore a soft bit, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. 2. Description of PATRICK WALSH, native of Dungarvan, who stands charged with having, on the 16th March, 1887, in the barony of Decies- without- Drum, parish of Dungarvan, absconded, taking with him the sum of £ 9 ( County Cess), which he was entrusted to receive;— Good- looking, respectable ap- pearance, smart address ; was in America, round face, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a hard black hat, black tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Description of LAWRENCE CARLEY, native of Ranaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1887, in the barony of Demifore, parish of Saint Fechins, fired a revolver shot at Widow Jane Heffernan, in her dwelling- house at Ranaghan, on 26th May, 1887, wounding her in the head :— Large wide msuth, thick lips, restless manner, aggressive expression, blue eyes, cocked nose, sallow complexion, short face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark hair turning gray, wears iron gray side whiskers ( no beard or moustache), is inclined to drink hard; wore a hard round felt hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; long silver chain round neck fastened to watch ; is a farmer and cattle jobber. Description of WILLIAM MAHONY, native ot county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 20th April, 1887, in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernon, parish of Mullingar. stolen a bullock, the property of Robert Downes:— Prominent teeth, thick fair moustache, clipped short, no beard or whiskers, blue eyes, red complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, very short fair hair; wore a low felt bat, light tweed coat, trowser6. and black vest; is a butcher, ( formerly served in army) Warrant in hands of the District Inspector at Mullingar. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, Q Division. * Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK CARR, A 658, convicted at Dublin, at City Sessions, on 12th January, 1883, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years5 penal servitude:— 19 years of age on conviction, single, is a porter; born at Dublin, resided before conviction at Charlemont- avenue, Dublin, where his friends reside; brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high ; marked with ring on left middle finger, and 5 dots on left forearm. This man was released on licence from Lusk Prison, 30th December, 1886, and went to reside at 76, Charle- mont- street, which place he has left without notifying to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts- is unknown. Solicitor^ \ this city, who absconded on the 24th ult.:— About 42 Jinrs of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow complexi^^ light brown fine hair ( rather thin on top of head), no whiskers or beard, slight sandy moustache, very round head, sloping forehead on which is believed to be a small white scar, broad flat flabby common face, Hat nose slightly indented, dimple in chin, stout and thick set, short thick neck, and large fat hands. " Please cause enquiries to be made at Hotels, Shipping Offices, etc., for this man, when all reason- able expenses will be paid. Information to JOHN NORRIS, Chief of Police, who holds a Warrant for his apprehension. City Polico Office, Coventry, 4th April, 1887. ( 62 u. c.) Liverpool. Wanted for stealing post letters in this city:— WILLIAM COLE, a Letter Carrier, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slim built, black curly hair, full red whiskers, beard and moustache, long thin pale face, high forehead, peculiar look in his eyes, and turns his toes in when walking; dressed when last seen in a long dark blue overcoat, soft billy- cock hat, and uniform trowsers. He has a sister a schoolmistress, at the Pentre Board Schools, Wrexham, and is acquainted with a Mrs. Henderson, 121, North- road, St. Helens, Lancashire; he has also an uncle named Edward Purdon, 2, Lagan view- street, Belfast, and another friend named Joseph Davies, Board Sohools, Tower Hill, Trevine, Haverford West, and to one of which places he may have gone. Kindly cause diligent enquiry to be made and if found arrest and wire to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Detective Department, Liverpool, l'st June, 1887. ( 73 H. C.) Failed to report change of residence as required by Sec. 5, Prevention of Crimes. Act, 1871 :— Licence holder, ROBERT MILLER, a seaman, native of Belfast; 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, slight cast in eyes, star and ring tattooed on right hand, shamrock back of left. Convicted at Belfast Sessions, 20th March, 1883, of larceny from a vessel, and sentenced to 5 years" penal servitude, released from Maryborough Prison, 21st March last. Absconded from this city on the 16th instant, and now charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 25, SAMUEL WILLIAM ASHTON, a clerk :— 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, full red cheeKs, dark complexion, dark hair, no hair on face, walks smartly ; dressed in dark clothes and hard felt hat. His parents reside at 11 Mulgrave- street, Lower Broughton, near Manchester. Kindly cause every possible enquiry to be made at . Wanted in Edinburgh, charged with having, on the 10th instant stolen a deposit receipt for £ 750 from a Lockfast box in a dwelling- house at Portobello, and with having forged an indorsation thereon and there- after, within the premises of the Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh,- presented said deposit receipt and ob- tained a deposit receipt on the Bank of Scotland, dated 10th instant, in favour of George Hay, 17 Keir- street, Edinburgh, for the sum of £ 160, £ 500 in £ 5 Bank of Scotland notes, £ 70 in £ 5 Bank of England notes, £ 7 10s. in gold, and 9s. in silver money, at the same time accused transferred a sum of £ 12 12s. to another branch of the Bank of Scotland:— GEORGE CORNELIUS SMITH HAY, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches in height, stout make, inclined to corpulency, dark hair, bald on top, high formation of head, full pale face, brownish moustache only, otherwise shaved, large eyes, wears glasses; dressed in black suit of clothes, blue tie with white spots, round black felt hat, lacing boots, is of respectable appearance, stoops forward, and head is believed to incline slightly to right side, speaks with distinctly Scotch accent; has been three times confined as a lunatic, twice in an Asylum at Edinburgh, and once in an American Asylum ; has been addicted to fast living, which may again have affected his brain. Accused absconded immediately after obtaining the money before mentioned, and will probably be found spending the money freely in hotels and other likely place, or may endeavour to emigrate. The above reward will be paid by the Bank of Scotland to any person ( other than a Police Officer) giving such information as will lead to the arrest of the accused, and the recovery of the money obtained or in proportion to the amount recovered. Police Officers are requested to keep a very sharp look out at hotels and other likely places, and to examine all outward going vessels, with the view of securing the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the money. The cow had been the property of Daniel Reilly, of Aughavas, and was seized by Terence Gavaghan, Reliagh, county Cavan, by virtue of Decree for £ 3 17s. 6d. money lent. Ballinamore, June 12, 1887. Daly, Esq., Solicitor, Ballinrobe, stolen off his land at Cavanquarter, Ballinrobe, on the night of 6th June, 1887:— 1. One milch cow ( dry), red and white, in poor condition, large horns, value £ 5. 2. Two two- year old heifers, strawberry colour, value £ 8 each. 3. A red and white bull calf and heifer calf, value £ 2 l" s. each. All the animals marked on the right hip with two cuts of a pair of scissors. These were seized for rent on the lands of Michael Flattery, of Miltown, county Galway, and bought in by Mr. Daly, the landlord.
