P-^ T All Noticos intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry aro to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Custlo, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to tho Inspector- General. Noticos rcspocting all Folonios and such Misdemeanours as aro of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whoso apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by tho name of the person in whoso hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this • uwturo unless thoy have tho Warrant in their possession. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the oovers, or give the number it boars, as without this information tho mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < kc., and of any circumstances rendoring the supply of tho " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of JAMES WALLS, native of Randalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 5th of August, 1887, in tlio barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Donogore, attempted to commit a rape on one Roseanna M'Millen, of Donegore: Round shoulders, dark eyes, aquiline nose, dark complexion, slight make, 5 foot 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; woro a low hard hat, gray coat, dark trowsers, patches on knees ; is a labourer. Description of JAMES MURRAY ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tho 5th July, 1887, in the barony of Clonkee, parish of Enniskeen, four head of young cattle in his possession, which he was trying to sell at KSrgscourt Fair, supposed to be stolen :— Birth mark behind left ear, cupped on back of neck : gray ea^ j, long nose, sallow complexion, long thin tacc, ^^^ der make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, short dark hair, large heavy dark mdtastache, face shaved; wore a gray serge coat, brown trowsers, and vest. Description of PATRICK ROONEY, native place not known, WILLIAM HENRY DEACON, native of Glasgow, JOHN M'DONNELL, WILLIAM LEE, EDWARD BARRY, native places not known, and JOHN JAMESON, native of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 30th July, 1887, in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffe, stolen the sum of twenty sovereigns, from the house of John M'Gann of Market- street, Ennis:— 1. Bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, smart appearance, wore all his beard clipped rather close, turning gray, gray moustache, dark blue eyes, cocked nose, pale complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 60 years of age, gray hair ; wore a round hard black hat, rather long black coat, trowsers, and vest. 2. Scar on bridge of nose, bald on top of head smart appearance, dark side whiskers turning gray, clipped close, shaves his chin, dark moustache, dark oyes, hooked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a brown soft hat ( American style), tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 3. Lost some teeth from front of mouth, dark brown moustache, sullen looking, dark piercing eyes, sallow complexion, thin face, active make, 5 feet inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a round black hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 4. Round shouldess, rather short neck, small fair moustache, gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 5. Small fair moustache, small gray eyes, slight nose, fair complexion, regular face, active make, 5 feet 6 incites high, about 30 years of age, fair hair ; wore a round black hard hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 6. Very small fair moustache, blue eyes, short cocked nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 or o inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair ; wore a round hard black hat, light coloured dust coat, striped tweed trowsers, and vest. These six men returned for trial on 5th August. Any information regarding them, including previous convictions, to be addressed to District Inspector at Ennis. Ennis, August 7, 1887. Description of MICHAEL BROWN, nativo of Knockduff Upper, who stands charged with having, on tho 9th April, 1887, at Curragh, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, with others committed or attempted to commit a rape upon Ellen Roche, and being required to give bail for his appearance at next Cork Assizes, failed to do so and lias absconded :— r Dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair; wore a soft black hat, frieze coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Description of WILLIAM BECK ( mother's surname Greenway,") native of Coolnacran, county Down, who stands charged with having, on the 21st June, 1887, at Coolnacran, in the barony of Upper Ivcagb, parish of Aghaderg. in the county of Down, indecently assaulted Mary Hall, a child under 15 years of age :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, giay tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a weaver. Description of TWO MEN names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 4th day of July, 1887, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Kilgobbin, stolen a cow ( since recovered) from off the lands of Judge Daily, Newtown Little, tho property of William Webster, Fernhill, Kilgobbin :— 1. Sore ir reddish eyes, sandy complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, wore a jerry hat, dark old gray tweed coat; corner boy appearance. 2. Has fresh cut marks on head, which he received in the row with Bourke, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Description of TERENCE NEILL, native of Crutt, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd August, 1887, in tho barony of Fassadinnen, parish of Castle- comer, sorionsly assaulted Bartholomew Kiely, of Clough, by striking him on the forehead with a stone, fracturing his skull, and thereby placing his life in danger :— Good looking, brown or gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 23 years of age, slight fair whiskers and moustache; is a farmer's son. Description of ROBERT WALSHE ( mother's surname Meade), native of Waterford city, who stands charged with having, on the 18th March, 1886, in the barony of Brawney, parish of Saint Mary's, deserted his wifo and four children, which have since been chargeable to tho rates of the Tullamore Union : — Pockpitted, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 5^ inches high, about 40 years of ago, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; journeyman harness maker. Description of ATTY DONAGHY ( mother's surnamd Kidd), native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of March, 1887, in the barony of N. W. Liberties, parish of Templdmore, stolen a sweeping machine, the property of George Hasson:— Hole on right cheek, anchor, heart, chain and somo letters tattooed on both arms, dark eyes, short noso, dark complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of ago, brown hair, small brown moustache; wore a black silk cap, no coat, dark trowsers, moleskin vest; is a tramp sweep. Description of PATRICK CASSIDY, native of Moyheeland, who stands charged with having, on the 5th day of August, 1887, in the barony of Loughin- shollcn, parish of Ballinascreen, seriously stabbed one Peter M'Gurk with a knife, thereby endangering his life:— Large ears, red lips, large hooked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, gray coat, and white trowsers ; is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest h in tho hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Draperstown. Magherafelt, August 7, 1887. ( 82999 c.— 42219.) Description of HENRY FLEMING, native of Drumnacannon, who stands charged with having, on tho 30th day of Ma);, 1887, in the barony of Lough- inshollin, parish of Tamlaght O'Crilly, seriously assaulted one James Doherty, and having been bailed to appear, and take his trial at Londonderry Assizes on 20th instant, failed to do so:— Round shoulders, bald on top of head, wants some front teeth ; gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 50 or 554 years of age, dark hair turning gray, which he wears long; wore a hard round hat, much worn, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, and top coat; shaves all his face, except a small rim round throat; is a farmer. ' Description of JAMES SMYTH, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 23rd or morning of 24th July, 1887, in the barony of N. W. Liberties of Londonderry, parish of Templemorc, burglariously broke out of a lodging house, taking with him a suit of gray tweed and a shirt, all value £ 1 10s. the coat, frock make with flaps on sides but no pockets:— Tattoo marks of a ring, each on two fingers, and tattooing on arms, lame from a blister on the heel; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers; wore a peaked cap with tassel, gray tweed frock coat, trowsers, and vest, small laced shoes; believed to be wearing the stolen clothes which are too big for him, is a tramp ; believed to be a discharged soldier. Description of DANIEL CASEY, native of Augh- akerin, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 24th July, 1887, in the barony of Moydow, parish of Killashee, seriously assaulted Robert Neary, of Aughnaskea, by striking him on the head with a loaded whip;— Walks with a slight stoop, and generally carries his hands in his trowsers' pockets ; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 10^ inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age; wore a soft black hat and gray tweed suit; is a metal caster or tinker. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 28th June, 1887, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Duleek, stolen 6 store heifers, value £ 60, the property of P. Matthews, Esq., J. P., Mount Hanover:— Speaks with an American accent, and carried a large whip; sunburnt complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a brown tweed tag coat, dark trowsers and vest; is apparently a farmer or respectable dealer. Description of MARY M'GORMAN, alias BRIDGET M'CANN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1887, in the barony of Monaghan, parish of Monaghan, stolen the following articles, the property of Catherine Flynn :— One red petticoat, one black cashmere quilted petticoat, one black stuff caps, trimmed with lace, one green plaid shawl, one black stuff umbrella :— Impedi- ment in speech, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 2 Inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a white hat, trimmed with cream- coloured lace, with a red flower in front, elastic boots, supposed to be wearing the stolen articles above described; is supposed to be a tramp. Description of two itinerant tinkers named M'DONAGH, native places unknown, who stand charged with having on the 5th July, 1887, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Ballisodare, stolen a pair of car wheels the property of Daniel M'Gloin ;— 1. Flat, nose, swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair; wore knee trowsers, and long gray stockings. 2. Dark complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, black hair. Collooney, July 13, 1887. ( 82600 c— 41582.) Tipperary. Description of WILLIAM RYAN ( mother's surname Nugent), native of Ballyverane, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd of August, 1887, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Templeneirv, caused the death of Thomas Sweeney, by stabbing him with a hay fork :— Walks with a rather stiff gait, brown eyes, rather large nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 17 years of age; wore an old black jerry hat, old dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. ' Description of JERRY GRIFFIN, native of Golden, who stands charged with having, on the 12th July, 1887, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Relickmurry and Athassal, stolen a silver lever watch No. 2,125, maker Gaskin, Dublin. The wateh is deficient a glass, second hands and ring, for the iatter a piece of wire has been substituted, value £ 2, th^ Liroperty of John M'Glynn :— Has a cast in one eye, sW^ nlv appearance, blue eyes, regular nose, sandy comr ® fy> n, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, al MT20 yeais of age ; wore a black jerry hat, dark ctnoured tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. JOHN BURKE and EDWARD BURKE, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 24th May, 1887. ( 81562 c.— 40099.) Tyrone. Description of SAMUEL M'CUTCHEON, native of Beiagh, who stands charged with having, on the 14th of April, 1886, in the barony of East Omagh, committed wilful and corrupt perjury :— Gray eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, brown hair turning gray; wore a black cloth coat, trowsers, and vest of American fashion. Omagh, 31st July, 1887. ( 82910 c 42070.) Westmeath. LAWRENCE CARLEY, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd June, 1887. ( 81753 40335.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict JOHN BURNS, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down Assizes, 17th March, 1883, for uttering base coin, and previous conviction for like offence, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 63 years of age on conviction; read; Roman Catholic ; widower; is a labourer; born in Ballybay, county Monaghan; resided before convic- tion in Newry, his friends reside in Newry; gray hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, worn visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high; ruptured on right side. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 20th February, 1887, and went to reside at lodgings in Maryboro', which place he left without notifying same to the R. I. Constabulary, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 83 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict JAMES MILLIGAN, A 689, convicted at Belfast, county Antrim, at Belfast Assizes for county Antrim, on 20th March, 1883, for larceny after previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 44 years of age on conviction, he can read and write; is a protestant, single, tailor, born at Armagh, resided before conviction at Belfast, where his friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, sandy eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high ; left eye blind. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, on 23rd February, 1887, and went to reside at 8, Cumberland - street, Blackrock, county Cork, which place he has left without notifying to the Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 80 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cumberland. £ 1 REWARD. Wanted here, charged with deserting his wife and family, on the 11th July 1887, and leaving them chargeable to the Cockermouth Union, WILLIAM HODGSON, alias " FORTY POCKETS," labourer, 32 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light brown hair, slight light moustache, gray eyes, long thin face, a native of Cockermouth; dressed in fustian trowsers and jacket, cord vest, black felt hat, and clogs. May be found at common lodging- houses, and likely to bo employed at stables, or carrying parcels for travellers. This man may be accompanied by a woman, . named Elizabeth Welsh, about 35 years of age, short and stout, pock- pitted, and has 4 children with her. THOMAS PEARCE, alias TOMMY THE GUESSER, licence holder No. ^ 35 years of age; 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light hazel eyes, fair hair ; is a racing sharp, hotel thief, and member of tho ramping mob. Native of Shrews- bury. Parlicular Marks Scar front of head, blue scar right side of forehead and bridgo of nose. Right Side.— Lost top part of fourth finger, scar dais of third finger. Left Side.— Catarrah of left eye. 2. Description of a man wanted at Rochdale, on a charge of stealing a large sum of money, the property of his employers " The Corporation of Rochdale":— JOSEPH SCOTT HARESCEUGH, clerk and traveller, 29 years of age, 5ft, 6 or 7in. high, gray eyes, fair complexion, light brown hair ; he is very dull of hearing and near sighted, he often wears spectacles, especially so when reading ; clean and smart in appear- ance. He was dressed when last seen, in a black coat and vest, dark mixture trowsers and billy- cock hat, and a light drab overcoat. He was last heard of in Leeds on the 14th June. He is a native of Rochdale his father was at one time manager of the manure department there. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
