B^ T All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. *•* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dnblin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1886. ENGLISH POLICE. BOROUGH OF NEW WINDSOR. £ 3 8*. REWARD. WANTED. A " gentleman" calling himself H. Temple is " wanted" for obtaining £ 6 4s. by a ficti- tious cheque on " Union Bank of London, Limited," backed H. Temple, 1, Park Hill, Richmond, Surrey ( which is false), Chancery- lane Branch, from Mr. A. E. Watts, of Thames- street, last Monday. The age of the " gentleman" is from 24 to 27 years. He is from 5 feet 6 inches to 8 inches in height, of fair complexion. He was dressed in a green Melton covert coat, brown tweed trowsers,' black felt hat, and had a salmon- coloured handkerchief round his neck. He stated he was a nephew of Sir R. Temple, Bart. He is supposed to be known at Twickenham, Staines, and the Wanderers' Club, London. The " gentle man" came to Windsor on Friday, and w| iile here he adopted the following plan:— He put up at an hotel, ordered wine.' spirits, etc., at a wine store, and requested them to be sent to a private house where - the wine'rS, iving the balance, engaged a horse and trap from an hotel where he was not stopping, drove to a neighbouring town, and left them at an hotel, and telegraphed to the owner to fetch them. In Windsor from Friday, 12th, till Monday, 15th November, 1886. A warrant is issued, and anyone giving such in- formation as will cause his apprehension, to Super- intendent HAYES, will receive the above reward from W. S. Cantrell, Esq., J. P., Windsor. November 20, 1886. ( 30 H. C.) HANTS CONSTABULARY. STOLEN between 2 and 11 P. M , on the 15th No- vember, 1886, from tho " Birmingham Arms Beer House" at Forton, Gosport, England," about £ 11 in gold, silver, and copper money, also a Silver English double ease verge watch No. 61397, value 20s. by John Duffy, a deserter from the Royal Marine L'ght Infantry :— 29 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, very dark moustache, tattooed supposed ship on chest, tomb- stone right upper arm, in memory of my father, woman right forearm, woman left upper- arm, bracelet cach wrist, ling middle finger of each hand ; dressed in dark cord suit, hard felt hat, and side spring boots, a native of Abbnill, Tipperary. Information to Superintendent G. CATCHLOVE, Hants Constabulary, Gosport, England, who holds a warrant for hi » arrest, Gosport, England, November 17th 1886. ( 28 H. O.) MANCHESTER CITY POLICE. STOLEN, about 7 p. m., 1st November, 1886, from an hotel in this city :— A gold English lever watch, with black figures, rose, thistle, and shamrock engraved on back, had attached a gold Albert chain, made from a lady's long chain, with two slides on; a pair of gold eye- glasses, with chain attached ; a small cameo brooch, set with diamonds And pearls; a brooch, twisted gold setting, with tor- quoisc stone; a blue pearl enamelled brooch, set with 25 pearls, shape of Maltese cross; a gold ring, buckle pattern, set with 2 diamonds; a pair of old- fashioned bracelets, gold- plated, about 2 inches wide, shape of a chain ; a large gold locket, with monogram, " M. A. B.," containing gent.' s photograph; a silver curb neck chain, gold- plated ; a pair of blue enamel and pearl ear- drops ; a IonA gold chain, snake pattern, had attached blue peariff. ooch, and a small gold ring set with imitation diamond. By Ann Taylor, a domestic servant, aged 37 years, height 5 feet, complexion dark, hair turning gray, dressed in dark clothes and has a very dejected appearance. If any of the above property be found pledged the amount lent will be paid by the owner. Information to be given to C. MALCOLM WOOD, Esq., Chief Constable, or Superintendent HICKS, Detective Depart- ment, Town Hall, Manchester. The Town Hall, Manchester, 2nd November, 1886. WANTED for uttering a forged cheque, on the 24th ultimo, George M'Minn :— About 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, very thin black whiskers all round face, dark thin moustache, prominent aquiline nose, thin face, prominent cheek bones, very thin neck, fingers slightly discoloured as though from French polish, very nervous, dressed in black frock coat, tall silk hat, shakespeare collar, and carried an umbrella. He is using a cheque book of the Birmingham and Midland Bank, Limited, numbered from A07050 ( inclusive), purchases goods, and tenders in payment a cheque for a larger amount than the purchase, and receives the surplus change. Warrant issued. IDformation to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superin- tend ent~ Detective fiepartment. Liverpool. October 5, 1886. WANTED, charged on Warrant with stabbing two Police Officers with intent to murder, on the night of the 28th ult. :— 1. Thomas Towey, a collier, 26 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefer jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high, very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the Chief Constable, Hanley. Chief Constable's Office, Hanley, Staffordshire, 19 th September, 1886. SCOTCH POLICE. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. FORGERY OF BANK CHEQUES. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with having on 12th inst., fraudulently obtained a diamond ring ( recovered) from a firm of Jewellers in this city on presentation of a forged cheque drawn upon the Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh :— William Ruther- ford, alias Stephen Ellerby, from 35 to 40 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout make, dark brown hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache, broad features, ruddy complexion, dressed in a black cloth surtout coat, stock scarf, stand up collar, and dress hat; spoke with Scotch accent, and had the appear- ance and style of a business man. It has since been ascertained that accused under the name of Stephen Ellerby, on 29th June last, opened an account with the Bank of Scotland, Edinburgh, by depositing £ 480, and thereby received a cheque- book No. B. 66529- 52, the money at Ellerby's credit was gradually withdrawn from the Bank, and with the remaining cheques he is now travelling the country obtaining goods from Jewellers and others, and in payment therefor tendering forged cheques under different names. Police Officers are requested to warn Jewellers and others to be on their guard, and should accused be arrested immediate information to be sent to A. M'CALL, Chief Constable. Detective Department, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, November 17, 1886. ( 29.— H. C.) Corrected Information. GALASHIELS BURGH POLICE. WANTED in this burgh, on a charge of embezzle- ment of £ 770, the property of the Netherdale Deposit Society, Douglas Davidson:— A millworker, 42 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, swarthy complexion, stout build, dark hair, dark whiskers, all round, mixed with gray, rather thin on chin, dark moustache; gruff voice ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, black over- coat, and hard felt hat. A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of the above described person who absconded this morning. Police Officers are requested to search for him, and, if found, detain, and forward immediate infor mation to the Subscriber when an Officer will be sent for him. ANDREW SUTHERLAND, Superintendent. Galashiels, October 12, 1886. ( 15 H. c.) CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 500. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile- street, in this city, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressed in fashionable clothing ; when he absconded he had on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- gorve- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th inst., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be found arrest and communicate with A. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE g Division. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Timothy Dennehy, A453, convicted at Cork City, on 23rd March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Cork, where he resided before , conviction, his friends reside at same place ; brown hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet 9£ inches high; dot on each hand between thumb and forefinger. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 2lst April, 1886, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork in July last without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and is supposed to have gone to Cardiff. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 113. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, October 11, 1886. Robert Farquharson, late Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, ( embezzle- ment), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 81st July, 1885. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of Charles Hamilton, native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 12th July, 1886, in the barony of Carey, parish of Ramoan, and town of Ballycastle, stolen a coat ( since recovered), the property of William Moor:— Lame of right leg, brown eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, hair turning gray; wore an old brown coat much faded, dark trowsers and vest, trowsers much patched; is a pedlar. The R. T. Constabulary at Ballycastle hold a • warrant for this man's arrest. Ballycastle, 18th Nov., 1886. ( 77822 o.— 34360.) DESCRIPTION of Richard M'Cracken, alias George Stewart ( mother's surname Dodds), native of Belfast Town, who stands charged with having, on the 80th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, stolen a registered letter, the property of the Postmaster General, con- taining a £ 50 note, No. 83,514, and a £ 30 note, No. 63,931:— Bad teeth, wants some of upper front row, largo ears and mouth, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 10 years of age, looks younger, sandy hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a telegraph messenger. Charles Mechan ( riot, Ac.), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 28th September, 1886. Armagh. Young offonder, Patrick Maginnis, No. 2129, described in previous issue, has been arrested. Patrick Trainor, ( assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31st August, 1886. Clare. DESCRIPTION of nine head of cattle, which were stolen from the townland of Clonroadbeg, parish of Drumcliffe, barony of Islands, and county of Clare, on the night of 12th or morning of 13th instant, tho property of Charles J. Mahon, Esquire, Sub Sheriff :— Four milch cows, two which are dark red, one strawberry, and one light brown colour; two dark red weanling calves; two dark red yearlings; and one two- year- old, in calf, strawberry heifer. The man and woman ( deserting child), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ciy, 24th August, 1886. Cork. DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of W. H. Massey, Esquire, J. P, D. L., which were stolen off the lands of Kilnagurteen, barony of West Muskerry, and parish of Macroom, on the night of the 17th November, 1886:— 1. Deep red colour, white spots on body, white stripe on right shoulder, hollow behind shoulders, three years old, with calf; and value for £ 17. 2. Yellow red, white marks on body, short tail, light thighs, four years old, with calf; and value for £ 17. Both in good condition and have straight horns, far apart. Macroom, Nov. 19, 1886. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, at Dublin:— James Rafferty, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, left one sore on left side, round visage, left side of face very much marked by old sores, loft eye red from effects of old sores ; formerly belonged to city of Cork; father dead, mother's residence not known. The boy does not know the city of Dublin, and has no friends in it, but will try to change his clothes as soon as possible to prevent recognition. The school dress:— Dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled and nailed boots, blue cloth cap with peak, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of William M'Geehan and John M'Monagle, natives of Doharry bridge, who stand charged with having, on the 26th October, 1886, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Gartan, pre- sented firearms at a Gamekeeper and threatened to shoot him:— 1. gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, very slight make, weighs only stone, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, is a labourer. 2. gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, wears all his beard which is sandy colour; is a labourer. Dunfanaghy, Nov. 11,1886. ( 77519 c.—- 33895.) Dublin. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place, Reformatory School, at Dublin:— Thomas Clifford, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, black hair, brown eyes, slightly turned up nose, small mouth, round visage, old cut under corner of left eye, letters " T. C." tattoed on left arm, several other marks tattoed on arms. Formerly belonged to city of Dublin, his father resides somewhere about Meath- street, Dublin. This boy knows the city well, and is known to some of the police, he has friends in Glasgow, and will likely try to get there; he is a shoemaker by trade. He absconded before on 11th of last month and was brought back to the school. The school dress :— Dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled boots, not nailed, blue cloth cap with peak, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth place Reformatory School at Dublin:— Ross Mullen, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pretty stout make, sallow complexion, fair hair, hazel eyes, small nose, pretty large mouth, long visage. Formerly belonged to the city of Dublin ; his parents reside somewhere about Meath- street, Dublin. This boy is fond of the soldiers and may try to enlist. He absconded before on the 11 lii October present year, and was brought back to the school. The school dress:— Dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled and nailed boots, blue cloth peaked cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of John Connor, Ratoo, which was stolen off the lands of Cappa, parish of Kilflynn, and barony of Olan- maurice, on 16th November, 1886 :— Two- years- old gray heifer, short horns, one of which is branded with the letters T. G. G., in good condition; value for £ 7. Tralee, Nov. 22, 1886. ( 77777 c.— 34272.) Daniel Lane ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 16th October, 1886. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of a gold watch found in the posses- sion of Ellen Dempsy, at Kilkenny, on 20th November, 1886, and supposed to have been stolen : Lady's gold Geneva watch, No. 55219, silk guard attached; value for about £ 7. Kilkenny, Nov. 22, 1886. ( 77784 c.— 34291.) which he received in the army. There is good reason to believe that he is going through thW£ ountry obtaining money by false pretences. Ferbane, Nov. 11, 1886. ( 77546 c.-^ 3927.) Young offender, Michael M'Crudders, not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 9th November, 1886. Leitrim. The bullock calf, the property of Robert Wilson, of Corraduff, which was stolen from the lands of Corraduff, not recovered ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd Novem- ber, 1886. Three heifers, the property of Michael Reynolds, of Cloonboney, have not been recovered; Hue- and- Cry, 26th October, 1886. King's DESCRIPTION of William Reed, alias Patrick Delaney, native of Clononey, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 27th October, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Tessauran, obtained money by false pretences:— Walks with a stoop, dark hair, mixed with gray, face all shaved, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin withered face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 60 years of age; wore a gray tweed coat and trowsers, blue cloth vest with gilt buttons, with ribbons sewn on it, one of which he says belongs to the Victoria Cross, and the others for different medals Limerick. DESCRIPTION of Martin Bradshaw, native of Glen- gar, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day November, 1886, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted one Denis M'Carthy, of Coolbawn, so as to endanger his life :— Lame of one leg which bends inwards about the knee when walking, supposed to be suffering from an injury to the head inflicted on him same date as on which he assaulted M'Carthy, gray or blue eyes, long nose, pale complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, very fair hair; wore a black soft hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant issued for his arrest. New Pallas, Nov. 7, 1886. ( 77404 c.— 33752.) William Phillips ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th October, 1886. Two persons, charged with having seriously assaulted George Pegum, not arrested; l4ue- and- Cry, 5th October, 1886. Londonderry. Francis Martin and Thomas Martin ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue and- Cry, 8th October, 1886. Longford. DESCRIPTION of John Cunningham, native of Carroolbrennan, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Rathcline, parish of Cashel, dangerously assaulted Michael Healy, from the effects of which he has since died :— Smart active appearance, good looking, slight stoppage in speech, talks quick, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches higb, about 21 years of age; wore a brown soft hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers and vest. Ballymahon, Oct. 20, 1886. ( 77128 c.— 33309.) Three bullocks, the property of Austin Greene, Esq., Dublin, not recovered; Hue- and- Cry, 19th November, 1886. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of William Simpson, native of Ashton- under- Lyne, England, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of November, 1886, in the barony of Carra, parish of Aglish, stolen a suit of tweed clothes, an Ulster overcoat, and 15s., the property of his master, Captain Ovens, of H. M. Border Regiment; Simpson is also a deserter from said Regiment:— Small tattoo marks on left hand and arm, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, and is likely wearing the stolen Ulster, which is brown, and of a rough texture; is a private soldier in Border Regiment This man took a ticket for Dublin on night of 18th instant. Description of the Clothing. Brown tweed coat, with name " Ovens " inside loop of collar, brown tweed trowsers, and rough brown Ulster overcoat. Oastlebar, Nov. 26, 1886. ( 77842 c.— S4390.) Thomas Costelloe, described in issue of 26th Feb- ruary, 1886, has been arrested. ( 73077 c.— 25788.) Roscommon. AMENDED description of Edward M'Manus ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Derrylahan, county Ros- common, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of September, 1886, in the barony of Moy- carnon, parish of Moore, feloniously assaulted, with some sharp instrument, one William Glynn, from the effects of which ha died on the 5th September, 1886 :— No beard, whiskers, or moustache^ shy and haggard- looking, gray eyes, straight nose,'^ jr com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown ' hair; wore a light coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; believed to have changed his clothes. IXCBIPTION of Beesy or Bridget Brett ( mother's surname Walsh), native of Tullycusheen, who stands charged with having, between 21st and 22nd October, 1866, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry. caused the death of her illegitimate child :— Rather high cheek bones, bold looking, gray or blue eyes, slightly cocked nose and thick at point, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark fair hair; is a Servant. Was in Blackburn, England, and may have returned there. Tubbercurry, Nov. 5, 1886. ( 77298 c.) Tipperary. John Kennedy ( serious assault), arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th August, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Richard John Rainey, alias James M'Keown ( Mother's surname M'Keown), native of Lisburn, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on the 18th November, 1886, in the barony of Middle Dungannon, parish of Drumglass, stolen an ounce of tobacco, whilst being weighed, and on 19th instant, escaped from the Police Barrack, by jumping out of a window 20 feet high, in said barony and parish :— Smart and active, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, 17 or 18 years of age, reddish hair; woro a dirty dark greasy silk cap with peak like a jockey's cap, light tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a weaver. Very cocked nose, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown hair, long foxy whiskers; wore an old dark coat, trowsers, and vest; all much worn. 2. Slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair and beard, no whiskers ; wore an old dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest j much worn and torn. He was barefooted. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 4th November, 1886, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wich'low:— Edward Bolger, No. 1898, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, thick nose, prominent and large mouth, oval visage, small cut mark on nose, formerly belonged to 43, Beresford- street, Dublin, his parents are dead. He was accompanied by the other boys. Will prdbably endeavour to enlist.
