All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. Should irregularities ariso in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. ^ Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols;, Stations, < Scc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1886. ENGLISH pOLIce. MANCHESTER CITY POLICE. STOLEN, about 7 p. m., lst November, 1886, from an hotel in this city :— A gold English lever watch, with black figures, rose, thistlo, and shamrock engraved on back, had attached a gold Albert chain, made front a lady's long chain, with two slides on; a pair of gold eye- glasses, with chain attached ; a small cameo brAoch, set with diamonds and pearls; a brooch, twisted gold setting, with tor- quoise stone ; a blue pearl enamelled brooch, set with 25 pearls, shape of Maltese cross; a gold ring, buckle pattern, set with 2 diamonds; a pair of old- fashioned bracelets, gold- plated, about 2 inches wide, shape of a chain ; a large gold locket, with monogram, " M. A. B.," containing gent's photograph; a silver curb neck chain, gold- plated ; a pair of blue enamel and pearl ear- drops ; a long gold chain, snake pattern, had attached blue pearl brooch, and a small gold ringretwitli imitation Bv Ann Taylor, a domestic serVant, aged " 37 y* , height 5' teet, complexion dark, hair turning gray, dressed in dark clothes and has a very dejected appearance. If any of the above property be found pledged the amount lent will be paid by the owner. Information to be given to C. PARTICULARS of Frederick Dashwood, who is in custody, charged with obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, viz, by representing himself as a Post Office official, remanded until Friday, the 22nd inst.:— Native of London, 23 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, scar on left elbow and scar on right knee ; dressed in light sacque jacket and vest, and brown trowsers. WANTED for uttering a forged cheque, on the 24th ultimo, George M'Minn :— About 42 years of age, B feet 7 inches high, very thin black whiskers all round face, dark thin moustache, prominent aquiline nose, thin face, prominent cheek bones, very thin neck, fingers slightly discoloured as though from French polish, very nervous, dressed in black frock coat, tall silk hat, shakespeare collar, and carried an umbrella. Ho is using a cheque book of the Birmingham and Midland Bank, Limited, numbered from A07050 ( inclusive), purchases goods, and tenders in payment a cheque for a larger amount than the purchase, and ives the surplus change. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high, veify fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the Chief Constable, Hanley. Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89,' Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5^ inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff set figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad check suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. GALASHIELS BURGH POLICE. WANTED in this burgh, on a charge of embezzle- ment of £ 770, the property of the Netherdale Deposit Society, Douglas Davidson:— A millworker, 42 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, swarthy complexion, stout build, dark hair, dark whiskers, all round, mixed with gray, rather thin on chin, dark moustache; gruff voice; dressed in a dark tweed suit, black over- coat, and hard felt hat. r ' A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of the above described person who absconded this morning. Police Officers are requested to search for him, and, if found, detain, and forward immediate infor- mation to the Subscriber when an Officer will be sent for him. ANDREW SUTHERLAND, Superintendent. Galashiels, October 12, 1886. ( 15 H. C.) CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 500. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile- street, in this city, about 33 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressed in fashionable clothing; when he absconded he had on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- grove- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th inst., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be . found arrest and communicate with A. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE G Division, . . PARTICULARS relativeto Convict Timothy Dennehy, A453, convicted* at Cork City, on 23rd March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Cork, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside at same place ; brown hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet 9 § inches high; dot on each hand between thumb and forefinger. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 21st April, 1886, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork in July last without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and is supposed to have gone to Cardiff. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, October 11, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Patrick MacCabe Fay, wanted on Warrant for forgery on the Bank of Ireland :— He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, long nose, dark brown eyes, dark brown whiskers and moustache, turning gray and worn rather long, chin shaved, bald head, and wears a dark brown wig, generally dresses in dark clothes, and tall silk hat, and dark overcoat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Robert Farquharson, late Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, ( embezzle- ment), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31st July, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Richard M'Cracken, alias George Stewart ( mother's surname Dodds), native of Belfast Town, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, stolen a registered letter, the property of the Postmaster General, con- taining a £ 50 note, No. 83,514, and a £ 20 note, No. 63,931 :— Bad teeth, wants some of mpper front row, large ears and mouth, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 19 years of age, looks younger, sandy hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a telegraph messenger. Charles Meehan ( riot, & c.), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ory, « 8th September, 1886. Armagh. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 1st November, 1886, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow:— Patrick Maginnis, No. 2129, about 16 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout make, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage ; cut- mark on left wrist, small mark over right eye, and tattoo mark on back of right hand. Formerly belonged to 18 Poole- lane, Newry, where his parents reside. His uncle, Pat Tuite ( dealer in old clothes), resides at Castleblayney; his uncle, James Maginnis, at Market- street, Newry ; and hiB uncle, J. M'Guinness, at Arthur O'Hanlon's Gardens, Newry ; had one or two red pookethand- kerchiefs in his pockets. This boy was accompanied by James Dooley, No. 1901, and Thomas Coventry, No. 1971. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, elastic belt, cloth cap Scotch make, strong nailed boots, No. 2129. He may have other clothes with the above. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. Patrick Trainor, ( assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ory, 81st August, 1886. Clare. DESCRIPTION of nine head of cattle, which were stolen from the townland of Clonroadbeg, parish of Drumcliffe, barony of Islands, and county of Clare, on the night of 12th or morning of 13th instant, the property of Charles J. Mahon, Esquire, Sub- Sheriff :— Four milch cows, two which are dark red, one strawberry, and one light brown colour; two dark red weanling calves ; two dark red yearlings ; and one two- year- old, in calf, strawberry heifer. DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. Kilrush, August 5, 1886. ( 75683 c.— 30614.) eye, letters " T. C." tattoed on left arm, several other marks tattoed on arms. Formerly belonged to city of Dublin, his father resides somewhere about Meath- street, Dublin. This boy knows the city well, and is known to some of the police, he has friends in Glasgow, and will likely try to get there; he is a shoemaker by trade. He absconded before on 11th of last month and was brought back to the school. The school dress :— Dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled boots, not nailed, blue cloth cap with peak, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. Office of Inspector of Reformatory and Industrial Schools, 15th November, 1886. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School at Dublin:— Ross Mullen, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pretty stout make, sallow complexion, fair hair, hazel eyes, small nose, pretty large mouth, long visage. Formerly belonged to the city of Dublin ; his parents reside somewhere about Meath- street, Dublin. This boy is fond of the soldiers and may try to enlist. He absconded before on the 11th October present year, and was brought back to the school. The school dress:— Daik tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled and nailed boots, blue cloth peaked cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. Office of Inspeqtor of Reformatory and Industrial Schools, 16th November, 1886. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 12th October, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— Martin Doyle, No. 214, aged about 17 years, 5 feet 4 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, long and thin nose, lips rather prominent, long visage, mark of burn on under side of right arm near the wrist, formerly belonged to city of Dublin, mother did live at 56 Marlboro'- stroet. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord and sleeved vest, tweed cap, strong nailed and buckled boots. The boy is well known at and has friends about Mecklenburgh- street. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of a bullock calf, the property of Robert Wilson, of Corraduff, which was stolen fro/ n the lands of Corraduff, barony of Carrigallen, parish of Cloone:— A half- year old bullock calf,^_ white, yellow spots on neck and tops of ears, legs yellow, ringworm on right eye ; value for about £ 4. DESCRIPTION of Beesy or Bridget Brett ( mother's surname Walsh), native of Tullycusheen, who stands charged with having, between 21st and 22nd October, 1886, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, caused the death of her illegitimate child :— Rather high cheek bones, bold looking, gray or blue eyj^ a^ slightly cocked nose and thick at point, fr^ r complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark fair hair; is a Servant. Was in Blackburn^ England, and may have returned there. ^^^^ Tubbercurry, Nov. 5, The man and woman ( deserting child), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 24th August, 1886. Cork. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, at Dublin:— James Rafferty, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, left one sore on left side, round visage, left side of face very much marked by old sores, left eye red from effects of old sores ; formerly belonged to city of Cork; father dead, mother's residence not known. The boy does not know the city of Dublin, and has no friends in it, but will try to change his clothes as soon as possible to prevent recognition. The school dress :— Dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest," buckled and nailed boots, blue cloth cap with peak, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the exponses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 14th November, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place, Reformatory School, at Dublin:— Thomas Clifford, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, black hair, brown eyes, slightly turned up nose, small moutb, round visage, old cut under corner of left Kerry. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Lane ( mother's surname Curtin), native of Meenbanivan, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleisland, stolen two bullocks, the property of the Land Cor- poration ( Ireland) Company :— Gray eyes, long slightly hooked nose, fresh complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 29 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farmer's son. A new suit of tweed has been made for him Bince he absconded, and he may wear them. Castleisland, Oct. 13, 1886. ( 77038 c.— 33149.) King's DESCRIPTION of William Reed, alias Patrick Delaney,, Jiativ9 of Clononey, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 27th October, 1886, . in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Tessauran, obtained money by false pretences?— Walks with a stoop, dark hair, mixed with gray, face all shaved, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin withered face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 60 years of age; wore a gray tweed coat and • trowsers, blue cloth vest with gilt buttons, with ribbons sewn on it, one of which he says belongs to tbe Victoria Cross, and the others for different medals which he received in the army. There is good reason to believe that he is going through the country obtaining money by false pretences. Ferbane, Nov. 11, 1886. ( 77546 c.— 33927.) Licensed convict, James Ivers, A 421, described in Hue- and- Cry of 18th May, has been arrested. Young offender, Michael M'Crudders, not arrested ; Hue- and Cry, 9th November, 1886. Three heifers, the property of Michael Reynolds, of Cloonboney, have not been recovered; Hue- and- Cry, 26th October, 1886. John M'Partlan, described in Hue- and- Cry, 17th September, 1886, has not been arrested. • V Limeriek. DESCRIPTION of Martin Bradshaw, native of Glen- gar, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day November, 1886, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted one Denis M'Carthy, of Coolbawn, so as to endanger his life :— Lame of one leg which bends inwards about the knee when walking, supposed to be suffering from an injury to the head inflicted on him same date as on which he assaulted M'Carthy, gray or blue eyes, long nose, pale complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, very fair hair; wore a black soft hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant issued for his arrest. New Pallas, Nov. 7, 1886. ( 77404 c.— 33762.) William Phillips ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th October, 1886. Two persons, charged with having seriously assaulted George Pegum, not arrested; Hue- auc- Cry, 5th October, 1886. Londonderry. Francis Martin and Thomas Martin ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue and- Cry, 8th October, 1886. Longford. DESCRIPTION of John Cunningham, native of Carroolbrennan, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Ratbcline, parish of Cashel, dangerously assaulted Michael Healy, from the effects of which he has since died :— Smart active appearance, good looking, slight stoppage in speech, talks quick, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 21 years of age; wore a brown soft hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. AMENDED description of Edward M'Manus ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Derrylahan, county Ros- common, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of September, 1886, in the barony of Moy- carnon, parish of Moore, feloniously assaulted, with some sharp instrument, one William Glynn, from the effects of which he died on the 5th September, 1886 :— No beard, whiskers, or moustache, shy and haggard- looking, gray eyes, straight nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a light coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; believed to have changed his clothes. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of John Moloney, of Tipperary, which strayed off his lands Carraclough, parish of Cordangan, and barony of clanwilliam, on the 5th November, 1886, and which he now believes to have been stolen, viz.:— A year- and- a- half old heifer, white, with some red spots on neck and sides, appears to be in calf; value for £ 6 or £ 7. DESCRIPTION of Robert Jones ( mother's surname Morrison), native of Stewartstown, who stands charged with having, on the lst November, 1886, in the barony of Middle Dungannon, parish of Donaghen- dry, obtained money under false pretences from Robert Morrow, through his daughter, Margaret, with the view of getting married to her, when he absconded with the amount (£ 6):— Lisps when speaking, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age; wore a " round hard hat, dark gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Information sworn and Warrant issued. Dungannon, ftov. 3, 1886. ( 77408 o.— 33766.) Waterford. DESCRIPTION of two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 17th October, 1886, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Killaloan, entered the house of Patrick Gavin, of Glendaw, and taken therefrom an old gun:— 1. Division in front teeth, hard face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a dark brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest. 2. Hard face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 93 years of age; wore an old tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. Description of the gun:— An old single barrel gun, brown, smoky, stock cracked at small of butt, and a piece of wire tied round pipe of ramrod near muzzle ; value for about- £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Brocky Byrne and a man unknown, both of no fixed residence, who stand charged with having, on the evening of the 10th November, 1886, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Delgany, No. 1 with having attempted to prevent the lawful apprehension of Patrick O'Hara, charged with larceny, and No. 2 with having at same time and place attempted to stab Constable Thomas Flaherty, R. I. C., while endeavouring to effect the arrest of the said Patrick O'Hara, all three being in oompany at the time:— 1. Pockpitted, walks with a stoop, hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a soft black hat, black coat, trowsers, and vest; is a professional tramp. 2. Gray eyes, cocked nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a peaked cap, short pilot coat, moleskin trowsers, and vest; is a profes- sional tramp. "" DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 4th November, 1886, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow:— Edward Bolger, No. 1898, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, stout make, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, thick nose, prominent and large mouth, oval visage, small cut mark on nose, formerly belonged to 43, Beresford- street, Dublin, his parents are dead. He was accompanied by the other boys. Will probably endeavour to enlist. Some time ago he had two uncles named Byrne, employed at the sugar- house, Ringsend, and two named Kelly ( carpenters), residing in Kilkenny, and a friend named Burke, at Pollardon- road, Carlow. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, elastic belt, cloth cap, Scotch make, strong nailed boots, No. 1898. He may have other clothes also. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1.
