PARTICULARS of Frederick Dashwood, who is in custody, charged with obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, viz, by representing himself as a Post Office official, remanded until Friday, the 22nd inst.:— Native of London, a8 years of age, 6 feet 7} inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, scar on left elbow and scar on right knee ; dressed in light sacque jacket and vest, and brown trowsers. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision ( fail- ing to report change of residence), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 80th July, 1886. SCOTCH POLICE. WAKTKD for uttering a forged cheque, on the 24th ultimo, George M'Minn ;— About 42 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, very thin black whiskers all round face, dark thin moustache, prominent aquiline nose, thin face, prominent cheek bones, very thin neck, fingers slightly discoloured as though from French polish, very nervous, dressed in black frock coat, tall silk hat, shakespeare collar, and carried an umbrella. He is using a cheque book of the Birmingham and Midland Bank, Limited, numbered from A07050 ( inclusive), purchases goods, and tenders in payment a cheque for a larger amount than the purchase, and receives the surplus change. Warrant issued. Information to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superin- tendent, Detective Department Liverpool. October 5, 1886. WANTED, charged on Warrant with stabbing two Police Officers with intent to murder, on the night of the 28th ult. :— 1. Thomas Towey, a collier, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefer jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 6 feet 1 inch high, very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the chief Constable, Hanley. Chief Constable's Office, Hanley, Staffordshire. 19th September, 1886. ^^ IN custody at Kendal, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, Henry Miller or Millen, alias Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89, Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 leet inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff set figure, is married; dressed in brown Corrected Information. GALASHIELS BURGH POLICE. WANTED in this burgh, on a charge of embezzle- ment of £ 770, the property of the Netherdale Deposit Society, Douglas Davidson:— A millworker, 42 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, swarthy complexion, stout build, dark hair, dark whiskers, all round, mixed with gray, rather thin on chin, dark moustache; gruff voice; dressed in a dark tweed suit, black over- coat, and hard felt hat. A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of the above described person who absconded this morning. Police Officers are requested to search for him, and, if found, detain, and forward immediate infor- mation to the Subscriber when an Officer will be sent for him. ANDREW SUTHERLAND, Superintendent. Galashiels, October 12, 1886. ( 15 H. C.) CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OP £ 500. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile- street, in this city, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressed in fashionable clothing; when he absconded he had on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- grove- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th inst., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be found arrest and communicate with A. M'Call, Chief Constable. Detective Department, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 17th September, 1886. BANFFSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED, charged, on Sheriff's Warrant, of breach of trust and embezzlement or of theft, of a sum of money, amounting to £ 95 sterling or thereby, William Park, a stallion Groom, native of Aber- deen :— Aged about 50 years, height 5 feet 9 inches or thereby, dark hair mixed with grey, swarthy com- plexion, long thin face, slight side whiskers, shaved on chin, and of proportionate make; dressed when he absconded in a dark suit of tweeds, half worn, and doubled peak cap, but which may now be changed. The money of which Park, is accused of embezzling, or having stolen, was the total of charges earned in Forfarshire during past season by an entire horse, belonging to Mr. James Sutor, Farmer, Collie, Elgin- shire, of which he was in charge, and which he left in a stable in Keith, on way to Collie, when he absconded on 21st ultimo. It is earnestly requested that careful inquiry and search be made for accused, at cattle sales, horse markets, stallion stables, foreign bound vessels, and other likely places, and, if found, to have him appre- hended, detained, and information wired to the subscriber, when he will be sent for. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Timothy Dennehy, A45 3, convicted at Cork City, on 23rd March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Cork, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside at same place ; brown hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet 9£ inches high; dot on each hand between thumb and forefinger. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 21st April, 1886, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork in July last without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and is supposed to have gone to Cardiff. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, October 11, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Patrick MacCabe Fay, wanted on Warrant for forgery on the Bank of Ireland :— He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, long nose, dark brown eyes, dark brown whiskers and moustache, turning gray and worn rather long, chin shaved, bald head, and wears a dark brown wig, generally dresses in dark clothes, and tall silk hat, and dark overcoat Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 24th September, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast s— Alexander Quinn, 16 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, about 5 feet high, scar on back of left hand, kick mark on left shin, several small scars on right side of body ; is a shoemaker, born at Markethill, parents reside at 87, Silvio- street, Belfast; wore a Glengarry cap, moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. DESCRIPTION of Charles Meehan, native of Milton- street, Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the I Oth day of August, 1886, in the barony of Belfast Upper, parish of Shankhill, been engaged in a riot, and attack on tramway stables, Anderson's- town;— Shaves all the face, small dark moustache, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, slight make, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore an old brown cloth cap, very greasy and close fitting, faded black cloth coat, dirty black trowsers, and dark vest; is a corner boy. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose* fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; parents reside at 30, Eureka- street, ' off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue ahd white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. The Managor of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with X1. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of James Lynch, which was stolen from the lands of Lisheen, parish of Clondegad, barony of Islands, and county of Clare, on the night of 25th October, 1886 ^ One- and- a- half years old, colour white and red, horns remarkably fine and short, tops turned backwards, rise over the shoulders, the letters M. L. on the right hip with tar; value for X10. Informations sworn. ' Ennis, October, 29, 1886. ( 77306 c.— 33630.) DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage oi Larry M'Donnell, of Moync, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue* on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of seat, he wore strong bobts with a small hole cut in the upper ot one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. Kilrush, Sept. 11, 1886. ( 76362 c.— 71898.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig- stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; . wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a greyhound bitch, the property of William Hope Johnston, Esq., which was stolen out of his stable at Clifford, in the sub- district of Killa- vullin, barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, and county of Cork, E. R., during the night of the 26th of October, 1889:— Black with white neck, numerous white or gray spots on the back, 4 years old, in good condition, and about 24 inches in height, answers to the name of " Lily." DESCRIPTION of a mare, the property of William Rodgers, which was stolen from his stable on the lands of Moneydarraghmore, parish of Kilkeel, barony of Mowme, on the 26th day of October, 1886 t— A. dun coloured mare, black stripe up back, heavy tail, six years old, milk in udder, twelve hands high ; value for about X12. Rathfriland, Oct. 29, 1886. ( 77307 c.— 33631.) The gold lever watch, stolen from the dwelling bouse of Hugh Gordon, has not been recovered; Hue- and- Cry, 21st September, 1886. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 12th October, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— Martin Doyle, No. 214, aged about 17 years, 5 feet 4 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, long and thin nose, lips rather prominent, long visage, mark of burn on under side of right arm near the wrist, formerly belonged to city of Dublin, mother did live at 56 Marlboro'- street. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord and sleeved vestr tweed cap, strong nailed and buckled boots. The boy is well known at and has friends about Mecklenburgh- street. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. DESCRIPTION of a small fishing boat, the property of George Marsh, Esquire, of Inver Lodge, Rosmuck, which was stolen from Invermore Lake, on the night of 9th inst.:— Bow on each end, slate colour, 16 feet in length, two ribs injured in centre, one stick on each side for rowlocks, very light, and can be easily carried by four men ; valued at X3, this boat may be carried away to some small lake for fishing or illicit distillation purposes. £ 1 ( one pound) reward offered. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Lane ( mother's surname Curtin), native of Meenbanivan, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleisland, stolen two bullocks, the property of the Land Cor- poration ( Ireland) Company :— Gray eyes, long slightly hooked nose, fresh complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 29 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farmer's son. A new suit of tweed has been made for him since he absconded, and he may wear them. Castleisland, Oct 13, 1886. ( 77038 c.— 83149.) King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightlypockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:—• Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Dtvryhullock, Randalsto wn, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. ( 32808 M.— 61383.) Leitrim, DESCRIPTION of two asses, the property of Patrick Feeney and James Beirne, which were stolen from the lands of Townparks, parish of Kiltoghart, barony of Leitrim, on the 20th day of October, 1886 :— 1. Brown colour, not emasculated, shod on fore- feet, cut under left eye from winkers, light cut on t » il, both cuts healing; value for X2 10 « . 2. Brown gelding, heavily shod, walks heavy, 9 j ears old, in fair condition; value for £ 2. T DESCRIPTION of four heifers, the property of Michael Reynolds, of cloonboney, which were stolen from off the lands of Corrascoffy, parish of Mohill, barony of Mohill, on night of 21st or morning of 22nd October, 1886 :— 1. Two- and- a- half years old, spotted white and red, cocked horns, in good condition ; value for £ 9. 2. Two and- a- half years old, gray colour, wide horns, in good condition ; value for £ 9. 8. Two- and- a- half years old, whitish colour, in very good condition; value for £ 10. 4. Has been recovered. Mobill, October 34, 1886. ( 77204 c— 33444.) John M'Partlan, described in Hue- and- Ory, 17th September, 1886, has not been arrested. V.' ' f Limerick. DESCRIPTION of William Phillips, mother's surname Parks, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having during present year, in the barony of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled a sum of £ 91 Bs. ( and other sums) the property of his employers, the Limerick Harbour Commissioners, he being then the Clerk of the said Commissioners:— walks with a quick sharp atep, blue eyes, long nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore around hard hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest, respectable gentlemanly appearance and address; is a Clerk. Limerick, October 13, 1886. ( 76994 c— 33063.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick Daly ( mother's surname Brien), native of Castlelloyd; who stands charged with having, on the 8rd September, 1886, in the barony " of Coonagh, parish of Oola, dangerously assaulted Michael O'Neill, thereby placing his life in imminent danger:— Has a deep scar over bridge of nose, generally keeps his hands in trowsers' pockets when walking, gray eyes, long thick nose, dark sallow completion, roOtfd full face, very stout mako, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark serge coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at New Pallas. New Pallas, Oct. 5, 1886. ( 76874 32854). DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 29th September, 1886, in the barony of Clan- william, parish of Dromkeen, seriously assaulted George Pcgum, thoreby placing his life in danger :— 1. Five feet seven inches high, about 25 years of. age, small side whiskers and moustache; wore faded brown t* eed clothes. 2. Low sized, red face, light moustache. Warrant for thrir arrest in the hands of the District Inspector at New Pallas. New Pallas, Oct. 3, 1886. ( 76810 c.— 32759.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Burke, native of Feda- more, who stands charged with having, on the 9th St ptefober, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Abington, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by f acturing his skull, thereby placing his life in dansrer :'— Gray ayes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of ago, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a straw hat, dark striped tweed coat, trowsers aud vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged wijh having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage oi Larry M'Donnell, of Moync, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed ; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of seat, he wore strong bobts with a small hole cut in the upper of one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig- stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular faoe, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and • light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. DESCRIPTION of a small fishing boat, the property of George Marsh, Esquire, of Inver Lodge, Rosmuck, which was stolen from Invermore Lake, on the night of 9th inst.:— Bow on each end, slate colour, 16 feet in length, two ribs injured in centre, one stick on each side for rowlocks, very light, and can be easily carried by four men ; valued at £ 3, this boat may be carried away to some small lake for fishing or illicit distillation purposes. £ 1 ( one pound) reward offered. Brown colour, not emasculated, shod on fore- feet, cut under left eye from winkers, light cut on tail, both cuts healing; value for £ 2 10 « . 2.
