Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday* t3T All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted •.* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give tne number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prinon and Police Authorities are requited to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fco., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. ENGLISH POLICE. i vJB is lb llRlgings CITY OF MANCHESTER POLIC PARTICULARS of Frederick Dashwood, vjB is in custody, charged with obtaining food andlOTgings by false pretences, viz., by representing himself as a Post Office official, remanded until Friday, the 22nd inst.:— Native of London, 28 years^ of age, 6 feet 7\ inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, scar on left elbow and scar on right knee ; dressed in light sacque jacket and vest, and brown trowsers. WASTED for uttering a forged cheque, on Ihe 24th ultimo, M'minn-^— About 42 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, very thin black whiskers all round face, dark thin moustache, prominent aquiline nose, thin face, prominent cheek bones, very thin neck, fingers slightly discoloured as though from French polish, very nervous, dressed in black frock coat, tall silk hat, shakespeare collar, and carried an umbrella. He is using a cheque book of the Birmingham and Midland Bank, Limited, numbered from A 07050 ( inclusive), purchases goods, and tenders in payment a cheque for a larger amount than the purchase, and receives the surplus change. Warrant issued. Information to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superin- tendent, Detective Department, Liverpool. October 5, 1886. WANTED, charged on Warrant with stabbing two Police Officers with intent to murder, on the night of the 28th ult. :— 1. Thomas Towey, a collier, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefer jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high, very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the Ohief Constable, Hanley. Henry Miller or Millen, alias Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89, Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff sot figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad check suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision ( fail- ing to report change of residence), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th July, 1886. SCOTCH POLICE. Corrected Information. GALASHIELS BURGH POLICE. WANTED in this burgh, on a charge of embezzle- ment of £ 770, the property of the Netherdale Deposit Society, Douglas Davidson :— A millworker, 42 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, swarthy complexion, stout build, dark hair, dark whiskers, all round, mixed with gray, rather thin on chin, dark moustache; gruff voice ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, black over- coat, and hard felt hat. A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of the above described person who absconded this morning. Police Officers are requested to search for him, and, if found, detain, and forward immediate infor- mation to the Subscriber when an Officer will be sent for him. ANDREW SUTHERLAND, Superintendent. Galashiels, October 12, 1886. ( 15 H. C.) CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 500. WANTED OQ a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile- street, in this city, about 33 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressed in fashionable clothing; when he absconded he had on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- grove- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th in6t., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be found arrest and communicate with A. M'Call, Chief Constable. Detective Department, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 17th September, 1886. BANFFSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED, charged, on Sheriff's Warrant, of breach of trust and embezzlement, or of theft, of a sum of money, amounting to £ 95 sterling or thereby, William Park, a stallion Groom, native of Aber- deen :— Age. l about 50 years, height 5 feet 9 inches or thereby, dark hair mixed with grey, swarthy com- plexion, long thin face, slight side whiskers, shaved on chin, and of proportionate make; dressed when he absconded in a dark suit of tweeds, half worn, and doubled peak cap, but which may now be changed. The money of which Park, is accused of embezzling, or having stolen, was the total of charges earned in Forfarshire during past season by an entire horse, belonging to Mr. James Sutor, Farmer, Collie, Elgin- shire, of which he was in charge, and which he left in a stable in Keith, on way to Collie, when he absconded on 21st ultimo. It is earnestly requested that careful inquiry and search be made for accused, at cattle sales, horse markets, stallion stables, foreign bound vessels, and other likely places, and, if found, to have him appre- hended, detained, and information wired to the subscriber, when he will bo sent for. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Timothy Dennehy, A453, convicted at Cork City, on 23rd March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Cork, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside at same place ; brown hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet 9£ inches high; dot on each hand between thumb and forefinger. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 21st April, 1886, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork in July last without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and is supposed to have gone to Cardiff. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fe 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, October 11, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Patrick MacCabe Fay, wanted on Warrant for forgery on the Bank of Ireland :— He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, long nose, dark brown eyes, dark brown whiskers and moustache, turning gray and worn rather long, chin shaved, bald head, and wears a dark brown wig, generally dresses in dark clothes, and tall silk hat, and dark overcoat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on tho 24th September, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformltory School at Belfast:— Alexander Quinn, 16 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, about 5 feet high, scar on back of left hand, kick mark on left shin, several small scars on right side of body; is a shoemaker, born at Markethill, parents reside at 87, Silvio- street, Belfast; wore a Glengarry cap, moleskiu jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stockings. Tho Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on romand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. DESCRIPTION of Charles Meehan, native of Milton- street, Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Belfast Uppor, parish of Shankhill, been engaged in a riot, and attack on tramway stables, Anderson's- town:— Shaves all the face, small dark moustache, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, slight make, S feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore an old brown cloth cap, very greasy and close fitting, faded black cloth coat, dirty black trowsers, and dark vest; is a corner boy. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Fostor, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; parents reside at 80, Eureka- strect, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast Dress we rn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, On remand, and will toward the person who may capture him with XI. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Trainor, native of Market- hill, county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the 5th of August, 1886, at Armagh, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, assaultol James Woods, and escaped from the custody of a constable :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin faco, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 27 years of age, black hair; wore a tweed cap, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; rides horses at fairs. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Clare. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage o Larry M'Donnell, of Moyne, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed ; wore a hard round felt bat, gray round cut < joat, dark trowsers torn at each sido of seat, he wore strong boots with a small hole cut in the upper ot one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading witti ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. Kilrush, Sept. 11, 1886. ( 76362 c.— 71898.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig- stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 31 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Timothy Donoghue, native of Bally clougb, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of October, 1886. in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Mallow, seriously assaulted Philip Quain :— Thin foxy side whiskers, shaves the chin and upper lip, is slightly deaf, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, sandy complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, darkish hair; wore a soft hat, dark frieze coat, corduroy trowsers with leggings, and also a flannel wrapper vest * is & labourer Mallow, October' 24, 1886. STOLEN from the dwelling house of Hugh Gordon, of Brickland, barony of Upper Iveagh. and countv of Down, on 16th day of September, 1888 :— A lady's gold lever watch, white dial, hands rather loose, with initials " M. F." on back, a silver chain, a pair of gold sleeve studs one slightly broken, a pair of gold earings with black stone setting, and a pair of plain gold rings. Supposed to have been taken by three tramps, two juveniles and one about 26 years. Banbridge, Sept. 20, 1886. ( 76532 c.— 32342.) Dublin. DESCRIPTION of woman, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th October, 1886, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Rathfarnham, stolen a carpet, value for Xfi, from the Roman Catholic Chapel, Rathfarnham; the carpet has been found in a Dublin pawn Office, woman can be identified :— Brown eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 85 or 40 years of age; wore dark bonnet and dark clothes. Dundrum, October 15, 1886. ( 77067 c.— 83187.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 12th October, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— Martin Doyle, No '. ill, aged about 17 years, 5 feet 4 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, long and thin nose, lips rather prominent long visage, mark of burn on under side of right arm near the wrist formerly belonged to city of DU' lii>, m ther did live at 56 Marlboro'- street. The school dress, all with re'ormatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord and sleeved vest, tweed cap, strong nailed and buckled boots. Office " f Reformatories, October, 1 , 188 « . ( 16 H. O.) Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of William King, native of Francis- street, Dublin, and James Scanlan, nativs of Rose- mount- street, Derry, who stand charged with having, on the 10th September, 1886, in the barony of Tir- kennedy, parish of Magheracross, forcibly entered a dwelling- house and committed larceny. These two men have been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country: 1. Old cut mark from right cheek to lip, letter K on right and left fore- arm, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, 5 feet 9| inches high, about 27 years of age, light brown hair. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, 5 leet 6J inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair. Kesh, Sept. 80, 1886. ( 76826 c.— 32758.) Galway. DESCRIPTION of a small fishing boat, the property of George Marsh, Esquire, of Inver Lodge, Rosmuck, which was stolen from Invermore Lake, on the night of 9th inst.:— Bow on each end, slate colour, 16 leet in length, two ribs injured in centre, one stick on each side for rowlocks, very light, and can be easily carried by four men ; valued at X3, this boat may be carried away to some small lake for fishing or illicit distillation purposes. £ 1 ( one pound)_ reward offered, m OughtArd, Oct 14, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Lane ( mother's surname Curtin), native of Meenbanivan, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleislnnd, stolen two bullocks, the property of the Land Cor- poration ( Ireland) Company :— Gray eyes, long slightly hooked nose, fresh complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 29 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farmer's son. A new suit of tweed has been made for him since he absconded, and he may wear them. Castleisland, Oct. 13, 1886. ( 77038 c.— 33149.) King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary In adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County :— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 18 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. ( 32808 M.— 61883.) Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of four heifers, the property of Michael Reynolds, of Cloonboney, which were stolen from off the lands of Corrascoffy, parish of Mohill, harony of Mohil, on night of 21st or morning of 22nd October, 1886 :— 1. Two- and- a half years old, spotted white and red, cocked horns, in good conditts^ j^ v& l" for £ 9. 2. Two and- a- half years old/ gfJIJ^" colour, wide born', in good condition ; value for X9. 3. Two- and- a- ha f years old, whitish colour, in ver> good condi'ion ; value for XfO. ' » . THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, OCTOBER 26, 1886. John m'Partlan, described in Hue- and- Cry, 17th September, 1886, has not been arrested. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of a dog, the property of John Ryan, residing in the townland of Castlecreagh, parish of Galbally, barony of Coshlea, and county of Limerick, which was stolen from his house, on the night of 27th August, 1886, viz.:— A gray terrier bitch, coarse ha< r, long snout, cars and tail cut short, about 7 months old, and answers to the name of " Nellie." Kilfinane, October 20, 1886. ( 77139 c.— 33330.) DESCRIPTION of Martin Hayes, native of Dromsally, who stands charged with having, on the 10th October, 1886, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon ( with others now in custody), seriously assaulted Patrick M'Namara, by striking him on the head with stones, thereby placing his life in danger:— Rather stooped, a id speaks with a drawl, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age ; wore a hard round hat, black, frock coat, gray tweed trowsers, black tweed vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of William Phillips, mother's surname Parks, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having during present year, in the barony of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled a sum of £ 91 6s.
