ENGLISH POLICE. w AKTKD for uttering a forged cheque, on ( he 24th ultimo, George M'Minn ;— About 42 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, very thin black whiskers all round face, dark thin moustache, prominent aquiline nose, thin face, prominent cheek bones, very\ hin neck, fingers slightly discoloured as though from French polish, very nervous, dressed in black frock coat, tall silk hat, shakespeare collar, and carried an umbrella. He is using a cheque book of the Birmingham and Midland Bauk, Limited, numbered from A 07050 ( inclusive), purchases goods, and tenders in payment a cheque for a larger amount than the purchase, and receives tho surplus change. Thomas Towey, a collier, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefer jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high, very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright' coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the Ohief Constable, Hanley. IN custody at Kendal, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, Henry Miller or Millen, alias Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89, Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5^ inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff set figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad check suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. WANTKD in this burgh, on a charge of embezzle- ment of £ 770, tho property of the Netherdale Deposit Society, Douglas Davidson:— A millworker, 42 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, swarthy complexion, stout build, dark hair, dark whiskers, all round, mixed with gray, rather thin on chin, dark moustache; gruff voice ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, black over- coat, » nd hard felt hat. A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of the above described person who absconded this morning. Police Officers are requested to search for him, and, if found, detain, and forward immediate infor- mation to the Subscriber when an Officer will be sent for him. ANDREW SUTHERLAND, Superintendent. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile- street, in this city, about 33 years_ of age, r>' feetH incKesm gh, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressed in fashionable clothing; when he absconded he had on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- grove- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th inst., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be found arrest and communicate with A. M'Call, Chief Constable. Detective Department, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 17th September, 1886. BANFFSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED, charged, on Sheriff's Warrant, of breach of trust and embezzlement, or of theft, of a sum of money, amo'inting to £ 95 sterling or thereby, William Park, a stallion Groom, native of Aber- deen :— Aged about 50 years, height 5 feet 9 inches or thereby, dark hair mixed with grey, swarthy com- plexion, long thin face, slight side whiskers, shaved on chin, and of proportionate make; dressed when he absconded in a dark suit of tweeds, half worn, and doubled peak cap, but which may now be changed. The money of which Park, is accused of embezzling, or having stolen, was the total of charges earned in Forfarshire during past season by an entire horse, belonging to Mr. James Sutor, Farmer, Collie, Elgin- shire, of which he was in charge, and which he left in a stable in Keith, on way to Collie, when he absconded on 21st ultimo. It is earnestly requested that careful inquiry and search be made for accused, at cattle sales, horse markets, stallion stables, foreign bound vessels, and other likely places, and, if f und, to have him appre- hended, detained, and information wired to the subscriber, when he will be sent for. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Timothy Dennehy, A453, convicted at Cork City, on 23rd March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born in Cork, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside at same place ; brown hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet 9£ inches high; dot on each hand between thumb and forefinger. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 21st April, 1886, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork in July last without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and is supposed to have- gone to Cardiff. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, October 11, 1886. . DESCRIPTION, of Patrick MacCabe Fay wanted on Warrant for forgery on the Bank of Ireland:— He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, long nose, dark brown eyes, dark brown whiskers and moustache, turning gray and worn rather long, chin shaved, bald head, and wears a dark brown wig, generally dresses in dark clothes, and tall silk hat, and dark overcoat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Convict Martin Costigan, described in Hue- and- Cry of 15th October, 1886, has been arrested. Convict William Donohoe ( failing to report), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th August, 1886. Police Supervisee Sarah Kelly, alias Gordon, alias Connor ( failing to report), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th July, 1886: Robert Farquharson, late Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, ( emoezzle- ment), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 31st July, 1885. Convict John O'Brien, described in Hue- and- Cry of 28th May, 1886, has not been arrested. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 24th September, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Alexander Quinn, 16 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, about 5 feet high, scar on back of left hand, kick mark on left shin, several small scars on right side of body; is a shoemaker, born at Markethill, parents reside at 87, Silvio street, Belfast; wore a Glengarry cap, moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Charles Meehan, native of Milton- street, Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of August, 1880, in the barony of Belfast Upper, parish of Shankhill, been engaged in a riot, and attack on tramway stables, Anderson's- town:— Shaves all the face, small dark moustache, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore an old brown cloth cap, very greasy and close fitting, faded black cloth coat, dirty black trowsors, and dark vest; is a corner boy. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malono Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap ; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; paronts reside at 30, Eureka- streot, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. Tho Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justico, on romand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. James Colwell ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th May, 1886. the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23, 1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. John Reilly and Thomas Reilly ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th July, 1886. for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country : '" l. Old cut mark from right cheek to lutf- letter K on right and left fore- arm, gray eyes, r^ ular nose, fresh complexion, long face, 5 feet 9£ inches high, about 27 years of age, light brown hair. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, 5 feet 61 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair. Kesh, Sept. 30, 1886. ( 76826 c.— 32758.) Galway. DESCRIPTION of a small fishing boat, the property of George Marsh, Esquire, of Inver Lodge, Rosmuck, which was stolen from Invermore Lake, on the night of 9th inst.:— Bow on each end, slate colour, 16 feet in length, two ribs injured in centre, one stick on each side for rowlocks, very light, and can be easily carried by four men ; valued at £ 3, this boat may be carried away to some small lake for fishing or illicit distillation purposes. £ 1 ( one pound) reward offered. Oughterard, Oct. 14, 1886. ( 77052 33158.) The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. Down. STOLEN from the dwelling house of Hugh Gordon, of Brickland, barony of Upper Iveagh. and county of Down, on 16th day of September, 1886 :— A lady's gold lever watch, white dial, hands rather loose, with initials " M. F." on back, a silver chain, a pair of gold sleeve studs one slightly broken, a pair of gold earings with black stone setting, and a pair of plain gold rings. Supposed to have been taken by three tramps, two juveniles and one about 26 yews. Banbridge, Sept. 20, 1886. ( 76582 c.— 32342.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Edwards, native of Bridge- street, Newry, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the house of Colonel M'Cance, Knocknagoney, a silver box, value for £ 1:— Wants left arm, wore all his beard cut short and turning gray, hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark turning gray hair; wore an old black coat, trowsers and vest He has been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Lane ( mother's surname Curtin), native of Meenbanivan, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of October, 1886, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of castleisland, stolen two bullocks, the property of the Land Cor- poration ( Ireland) Company :— Gray eyes, long slightly hooked nose, fresh complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 29 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farmer's son. A new suit of tweed has been made for him since he absconded, and he may wear them. Castleisland, Oct. 13, 1886. ( 77038 c — 33149.) Armagh. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Trainor, native of Market- hill, county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the 5th of August, 1886, at Armagh, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, assaulted James Woods, and escaped from the custody of a constable :— Gray eyes, regular no3e, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches jjfgh, about 27 years of age, black hair ; wore a tweed cap, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; rides horses at fairs. DESCRIPTION of an ass, the property of Michael Delaney, which was stolen from his land at Cratt, parish of Castlecomer, barony of FassadineeD, and county of Kilkenny, on the m > rning of 20th Septem- ber, 1886 :— A gray she- as°, 4 years old, small pearl on right eye, tips of ears dark colour, unshod ; value for £ 2 10s.; supposed to have been stolen by tramping tinkers. Castlecome-, October 5, 1886. ( 76875 c.— 32855.) Cavan. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 19th May, 1885. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of woman, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th October, 1886, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Rathfarnham, stolen a carpet, value for £ 5, from the Roman Catholic Chapel, Rathfarnham ; the carpet has been found in a Dublin pawn office, woman can be identified :— Brown eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age; wore dark bonnet and dark clothes. Dundrum, October 15, 1886. ( 77067 c.— 33187.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 12th October, 1886, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— Martin Doyle, No. 214, aged about 17 years, 5 feet 4 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, long and thin nose, lips rather prominent, long visage, mark of burn on under side of right arm near the wrist, formerly belonged to city of Dublin, mother did live at 56 Marlboro'- street. Tho school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord and sleeved vest, tweed cap, strong nailed and buckled boots. The boy is well known at and has friends about Mecklenburgh- street. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. C.) 1 King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who . stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony- of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's county:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 32808 M.— 61383.) Youi g offender william m'Cotter, (> es in ; [ ue- and- Cry of 24th September, 1886, has been arrested. Convict James Ivers ( not reportinr; himself), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 18th May 1P86. Clare. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage o' Larry M'Donnell, of Moyne, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about. 24 year3 of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of seat, he wore strong boots with a small hole cut in the upper of one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. Kilrush, Sept. 11, 1886. ( 76362 o.— 71898.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig- stye, in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sartdy hair, no beard or whi- kers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; woro a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of William King, native of Francis- street, Dublin, and James Scanlan, nativa of Rose- mount- street, Derry, who stand charged with having, on the 10th September, 1886, in the barony of Tir- kennedy, parish of Magheracross, forcibly entered a dwelling- house and committed larceny. These two men have been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions 1 THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 30, 1886. Leitrim. The heifers, the property of Charles Pope, of Cloone, described in Hue- aud- Cry of 8th October, 1886, have not been recovered. The bullocks, the property of John B. West, of Drumdarkin, described in Hue- and- Cry of 8th Octo- ber, 1886, have not been recovered. John M'Partlan, described in Hue- and- Ory, 17th September, 1880, has not been arrosted. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of Martin Hayes, native of Dromsally, who stands charged with having, on the 10th October, 1886, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon ( with others now in custody), seriously assaulted Patrick M'Namara, by striking him on the head with stones, thereby placing his life in danger:— Rather stooped, aad speaks with a drawl, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age ; wore a hard round hat, black, frock coat, gray tweod trowsers, black tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued for his arrest. New Pallas, Oct 18, 1886. ( 77031 c.— 33118.) DESCRIPTION of William Phillips, mother's surname Parks, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having during present year, in the barony of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled a sum of £ 91 6s. ( and other sums) the property of his employers, the Limcrick Harbour Commissioners, he bein « then the clerk of tho said Commissioners:— walks with a quick sharp step, blue eyes, long nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 years ol age, fair hair; wore a round hard hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers ard vest, respectable gentlemanly appearance and address; is a Clerk. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Daly ( mother's surname Brien), native of Castlelloyd, who stands charged with having, on tho 3rd September, 1886, in the baronv of Coonagh, parish of Oola, dangerously assaulted Michael O'Neill, thereby placing his life in imminent danger:— Has a deep scar over bridge of nose, generally keeps his hands in trowsers' pockets when walking, gray eyes, long thick nose, dark Hallow complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark : air; wore a hard round hat, dark serge coat, gray twee 1 trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native placos unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 29th September, 1886, in the barony of Clan- william, parish of Dromkeen, seriously assaulted George Pegum, thoreby placing his life in danger :— 1. Five feet seven inches high, about 26 years of ago, small side whiskers and moustache; wore faded brown t veed clothes. 2. Low sized, red face, light moustache. DESCRIPTION of Michael Burke, native of Feda- more, who stands charged with having, on the 9th September, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Abington, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a straw hat, dark striped tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Francis Martin and Thomas martin, brothers ( mother's surname M'Govern), natives of Tirgan, who stand charged with having, on the 27th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Loughinsi ollen, parish of Desertmarthi, com- mitted a st rious assault on one, John Groogan, a Sheriff's bailiff:— 1. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches higb, about 23 years of age, dark hair, has a small dark moustache ; wore a red tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a blacksmith. 2. Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, brown hair; wore an old hard hat, tweed coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. AMENDED description of Edward M'Manus ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Derrylahan, county Ros- common, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of September, 1886, in the barony of Moy- carnon, parish of Moore, feloniously assaulted, with some sharp instrument, One William Glynn, from the effects of which he died on the 5th September, 1886 :— No beard, whiskers, or moustache, shy and haggard- looking, gray eyes, straight nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a light coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; believed to have changed his clothes. Wicklow, DESCRIPTION of four pound notes, a clock, a watch, and watch stand, the property of Edward Chamney, of Ballyclare, which were stolen from his dwelling house in the parish of Dunganstown, barony of Arklow, on the 9th October, 1886 ; a tramp, medium size, reddish whiskers and moustache, who wore a light coat and bad boots, is suspected. 1. Four single pound notes, the words " Mr. Chamney " on back of two of them, and " Patrick Dalton " on the back of another. 2. An American alarm clock, the words " Redstar clock Company " printed on inside of it 3. A silver Geneva watch ; glass and hands broken. 4.
