No Description ca » b » inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is, not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General, Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward on. of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1886. ENGLISH POLICE. Information sought as to the whereabouts of license- holder, Daniel Kendall, a labourer, native of Bally- money, county Antrim; 88 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height, proportionate figure, dark brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, round features. Convicted at Durham Assizes, 8th December, 1874, of rape, at West Hartlepool, and sentenced to 15 years penal servitude, but released on the 16th ultimo, on license, and on the 21st ultimo, notified going to Belfast, but has not reported himself there. Information to the Chief Superintendent. Detective Department, Liverpool, Sept. 21, 1886. WANTED, charged on Warrant with stabbing two Police Officers with intent to murder, on the night • f the 28th ult. :— 1. Thomas Towey, a collier, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefer jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of age, looks older, 6 feet 1 inch high, very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringo, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the chief Constable, Hanley. Chief Constable's Office, Hanley, Staffordshire, 19th September, 1886. IN custody at Kendal, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, Henry Miller or Millen, alias Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, residod lait at 89, Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5£ inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff set figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad check suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. Photo sent on application. Information to THOMAS COTTON, Chief Constable, Kendal. Chief Constable's Offico, Kondal, September 8, 1886. ( 3S067 M.— 61893.) Police Supervisee, Henry Clarke, Reg. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision ( fail- ing to report change of residence), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th July, 1886. SCOTCH POLICE. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 500. • WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant charged with embezzlement of Trust funds to the above amount, Robert Henderson Ferguson, an Accountant, at 45, West Nile street, in this city, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 riches high, deep ruddy complexion, fair hair, reddish fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, dressetf in fashionable clothing ; when he absconded he haft on a navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, dark shooting- coat and vest, and striped trousers, respectable appearance. Is a prominent foot- ball player, fast in his habits, and somewhat addicted to drink. He is unmarried, and resided at 4, Kelvin- grove- terrace, West, Glasgow. Absconded on 15th inst., and it is believed that he will endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for accused, at Shipping- offices, and all other likely places, have outward bound vessels watched, and should he be found arrest and communicate with A. M'Call, Chief Constable. Detective Department, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 17th September, 1886. BANFFSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED, charged, on Sheriff's Warrant, of breach of trust and embezzlement, or of theft, of a sum of money, amounting to £ 95 sterling or thereby, William Park, a stallion Groom, native of Aber- deen :— Aged about 50 years, height 5 feet 9 inches or thereby, dark hair mixed with grey, swarthy com- plexion, long thin face, slight side whiskers, shaved on chin, and of proportionate make; dressed when he absconded in a dark suit of tweeds, half worn, and doubled peak cap, but which may now be changed. The money of which Park, is accused of embezzling, or having stolen, was the total of charges earned in Forfarshire during past season by an entire horse, belonging to Mr. James Sutor, Farmer, Collie, Elgin- shire, of which he was in charge, and which he left in a stable in Keith, on way to Collie, when he absconded on 21st ultimo. It is earnestly requested that careful inquiry and search be made for accused, at cattle sales, horse markets, stallion stables, foreign bound vessels, and other likely places, and, if found, to have him appre- hended, detained, and information wired to the subscriber, when he will be sent for. DESCRIPTION of Patrick MacCabe Fay, wanted on Warrant for forgery on the Bank of Ireland :— He is 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, lottg nose, dark brown eyes, dark brown whiskers and moustache, turning gray and worn rather long, chin shaved, bald head, and wears a dark brown wig, generally dresses in dark clothes, and tall silk hat, and dark overcoat Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Police Supervisee Sarah Kelly, alias Gordon, alias Connor ( failing to report), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th July, 1886: Rooert Farquharson, late Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurauce Company, Dublin, ( embezzle- ment), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 31st July, 1885. Convict John O'Brien, described in Hue- and- Cry of 28th May, 1886, has not been arrested. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 24th September, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Alexander Quinn, 16 years of age, light hair, hazel eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, about 5 feet high, scar on back of left hand, kick mark on left shin, several small scars on right side of body; is a shoemaker, born ' at Markethill, parents reside at 87, Silvio- street, Belfast; wore a Glengarry cap, moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capthre him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Charles Meehan, native of Milton- street, Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Belfast Upper, parish of Shankhill, been engaged in a riot, and attack on tramway stables, Anderson's- town:— Shaves all the face, small dark moustache, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore an old brown cloth cap, very greasy and close fitting, faded black cloth coat, dirty black trowsers, and dark vest; is a corner boy. Lisburn, Sept. 24, 1886. ( 76650 c.— 32438.) DESCRIPTION of James Simpson ( tramp), native place unknown, said he came from Antrim, who stands charged with having, on the 20th September, 1886, at Dunclug, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, seriously assaulted James Gordon, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life:— Pockpitted, tanned, weather- beaten face, blue eyes, hooked nose,. swarthy tanned complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair, large sandy moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore no hat, gray tweed coat, dark cord trowsers, gray tweed vest, workhouse clothes, " Ballymena Union" branded on them. His clothes consisting of light tweed hat, blue serge coat, dark tweed trowsers, and vest, he has left behind at the workhouse. Ballymena, Sept. 21, 1886. ( 76599 C.— 32351.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap ; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; parents reside at 30, Eureka- street, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest. Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward tho person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Trainor, native of Market- hill, county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on tho 5th of August, 1886, at Armagh, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, assaulted James Woods, and escaped from the custody of a constable;— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 27 years of age, black hair; wore a tweed cap, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; rides horses at fairs. Armagh, August 30, 1886. ( 76128 c.— 31453.) Charles O'Higgins ( firing at and wounding), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June, 1886'. Belfast. James Monaghan, alias Delaney ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd February, 1886. Thomas Cullen ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. Down. STOLEN from the dwelling house of Hugh Gordon, of Brickland, barony of Upper Iveagh, and county of Down, on 16th day of September, 1886 :— A lady's gold lever watch, white dial, hands rather loose, with initials " M. F." on back, a silver chain, a pair of gold sleeve studs one slightly broken, a pair of gold earings with black stone setting, and a pair of plain gold rings. Supposed to have been taken by three tramps, two juveniles and one about 26 years. Banbridge, Sept. 20, 1886. ( 76532 c.— 32342.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Edwards, native of Bridge- street, Newry, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the house of Colonel M'Cance, Knocknagoney, a silver box, value for £ I:— Wants left arm, wore all his beard cut short and turning gray, hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark turning gray hair; wore an old black coat, trowsers and vest. He has been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country. Newtownards, Sep. 11, 1886. ( 76364 c.— 31900.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Bynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. ( 32808 m.— 61383.) Convict James Ivers ( not reporting himself), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th May 1886. Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of John M'Partlan ( mother's sur- name Flynn), native of Tullyhorka, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Innish- aragratb, stolen a horse, the property of John J. Faherty, from off his lands of Sheenagh, in above barony and parish:— Slovenly gait, dark brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard hat, tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and tweed vest ; is 8i labourer. Drumahaire, Sept. 15, 1886. ( 76265 c.— 31710.) Limerick. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 29th September, 1886, in the barony of Clan- william, parish of Dromkeen, seriously assaulted George Pegum, thereby placing his life in danger :— 1. Five feet seven inches high, about 25 years of age, small side whiskers and moustache; wore faded brown tweed clothes. 2. Low sized, red face, light moustache. Warrant for their arrest in the hands of the District Inspector at New Pallas. New Pallas, Oct. 3, 1886. ( 76810 c.— 32759.) DESCRIPTION of John Donohoe alias Keefe, native of Tralee or Killarney, who stands charged with having on the 24th September, 1886, in the barony of Glenquin, parish of Monegay, entered the houses of Thomas M'Iniery and Catherine Hughin, and taken a gun from each, also with having stolen a pair of elastic- sided boots, with toecaps, the property of John Flynn:— Back of left hand tattooed about wrist, wild- looking ( appears to be the man, name unknown, charged with robbery of arms near Kilrush; county Clare), regular nose, hardy complexion, thin face, hardy active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown fairish bair, slight moustache cut short; wore a gray sack coat, gray or blue trowsers, was last seen going in the direction of Abbeyfeale, or county Kerry, visits the houses of weavers in search of employment; is a weaver and discharged soldier. DESCRIPTION of an ass, the property of Richard Sheehy, which was stolen from the lands of Ardgoul North, barony of Lower Connello, and parish of Nantinan, on the night of the 21st or morning of tho 22nd September, 1886 :— A black ( geldingass, two white spots on both sides near the straddl^, » shell of the right foreleg rising up, was never shod, and is a little lame, 5 or 6 years old ; value for £ 1 lOs. l The ass is supposed to have been stolen by tinkers or tramps who were seen loitering in the neighbourhood. Rathkeale, Sept. 23, 1886. ( 76641 o.— 32418.) Cavan. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Clare. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Movarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage of Lirry M'Donnell, of Moyne, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight mako and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of seat, ho wore strong boots with a small hole cut in the upper of one of them. Description of tho gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. Kilrush, Sept. 11, 1886. ( 76362 c.— 71898.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig. stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over tbe bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots ; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full faco, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be tho wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DKSCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 18H6, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggeriug gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. Kilrush, August 5, 1886. ( 75683 c.— 30614.) John Reilly and Thomas Reilly ( cattle stea'ing), net arrested; Hue- and-(. ry, 20th July, 1886. Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of William King, native of Francis- street, Dublin, and James Scanlan, nativ9 of Rose- mount- street, Derry, who stand charged with having, on the 10th September, 1886, in the barony of Tir- kennedy, parish of Magheracross, forcibly entered a dwelling- house and committed larceny. These two men have been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country:— 1. Old cut mark from right cheek to lip, letter K on right and left fore- arm, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, 5 feet 9| inches high, about 27 years of age, light brown hair. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, 5 feet inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair. Kesh, Sept. 30, 1886. ( 76826 c.— 32758.) Galway. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. kildare. John Cassidy ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June, 1886. King's DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st September, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County :— John Cahy, No. 872 ; about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, strong make, dark com- plexion, dark hair almost black, dark eyes, cocked nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage, blue mark on left forearm. Formerly belonged to 1, Killen's- place, Belfast, parents reside at 1, Killen's- place, Belfast. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of black Scotch cap, dark blue tunic, dark trowsers, leather belt, and strong boots. This boy is a tailor, he belonged to the band and plays the cornet. Was making towards Mullingar, with absconder M'Cotter, will probably change his dress. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person whe may capture him with £ 1. Office of Beformatorie3, Dublin Castle. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 2lst September, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's county:— William M'Cotter, No. 906, 18 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, strong make, fresh almost ruddy complexion, light hair, light eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage, scar on nose and two on the forehead. Formerly belonged to Quinn's- court, Belfast. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Black Scotch cap, dark blue tunic, dark trowsers, leather belt, and strong boots; is a shoemaker by trade, was seen with Cahy, making towards Mullingar. Both boys will probably change their clothing. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Michael Burke, native of Feda- more, ^ ho stands charged with having, on the 9th September, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Abington, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a straw hat, dark striped tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, Sep. 12, 1886. ( 76360 c.— 31896.) The jennet, described in Hue- and- Cry, 21st Sep- tember, 1886, has not been recovered. Philip Kennedy ( failing to stand his trial when on bail, on a charge of firing at the person), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th July, 1886. Tho person who gave the name of Andrew Cotter ( obtaining goods by false pretences), described in the Hue- and- Cry of 13th instant, has not been arrested. Londonderry. Robert Kearney ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd August, 1886. Peter M'Guigan ( unlawful assembly), not arrested; Hue- and Cry, 2nd April, 1886. . Longford. Michael Donegan ( forgery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 29th Juno, 1886. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of Martin Glennon, native of Bally- cleary, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September. 1886, in the barony of Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stabbed one James O'Brien, with- a penKnife :— Fresh cut mark on forehead, between eyes, cut mark on right thumb, blue eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a round hard hat, long dark coat, light gray trowsers, and vest, much worn; is a small farmer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in tho barony of Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, wide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age, red hair; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material walks erect, and strikes his heels hard against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2.
