No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is . not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery- of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward on « of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thii Information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, ifec., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1886. ENGLISH POLICE. WANTED, charged on Warrant with stabbing two Police Officers with intent to murder, on the night of the 28th ult. :— 1. Thomas Towey, a collier, 20 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, very slight whiskers and moustache, or may be clean shaved, cross- eyed, one eye squints worse than the other; dressed in collier's cap with peak, old blue reefeu. jacket, and clogs. 2. Mary Ellen Bates, aliases Parkinson, M'Guinness, and " Polly Pikelets," a prostitute, 18 years of ago, looks older, 5 feet 1 inch high,| very fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, rather stout build, round full face, front hair been cut for fringe, but was growing long again ; dressed in dark broad brimmed hat, light print dress, white apron, small bright coloured shawl, and elastic side boots. They frequent low public houses and lodging houses, and the woman plies her trade in a great measure among boatmen. Information to the Chief Constable, Hanley. IN custody at Kendal, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, Henry Miller or Millen, alias Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89, Great George- street, Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff set figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad chock suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. WANTED at Kendal, for failing to report change of residence, Police Supervisee, Henry Clarke, Reg. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— He is 53 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, gray eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a baker by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left eye, seven boil scars on back, two boil scars left buttock, two burn scars left arm, little finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right cheek, and cut back of right hand. Supervision expires on the 30th June, 1890. If found, should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., ch. 112. sec. 8, or communicate with the under- signed, who will send for him. BANFFSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED, charged, on Sheriff's Warrant, of breach of trust and embezzlement, or of theft, of a sum of money, amounting to £ 95 sterling or thereby, William Park, a stallion Groom, native of Aber- deen :— Aged about 50 years, height 5 feet 9 inches or thereby, dark hair mixed with grey, swarthy com- plexion, long thin face, slight side whiskers, shaVed on chin, and of proportionate make; dressed when he absconded in a dark suit of tweeds, half worn, and doubled peak cap, but which may now be changed. The money of which Park, is accused of embezzling, or having stolen, was tbe total of charges earned in Forfarshire during past season by an entire horse, belonging to Mr. James Sutor, Farmer, Collie, Elgin- shire, of which he was in charge, and which he left in a stable in Keith, on way to Collie, when he absconded on 21st ultimo. It is earnestly requested that careful inquiry and search be made for accused, at cattle sales, horse markets, stallion stables, foreign bound vessels, and other likely- places, and, if found, to have him appre- hended, detained, and information wired to the subscriber, when he will bo sent for. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place; parents reside at 30, Eureka- street, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast Dressworn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark • tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of two head of cattle, the property of Charles Magovern, which were stolen from the lands of Derrynanta Upper, parish of Templeport, barony of Tullyhaw, on the night of 14th September, 188G :— 1. Yellow colour, short thick horns, two years old, with calf, in good condition; value about £ 7. 2. Yellow colour, short fine horns, white star on forehead of triangular shape, white spot on left hind flank, with calf, in fair condition; value about £ 7. Swanlinbar, Sept. 17, 1886. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage ot Larry M'Donnell, of Moyne, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1886. look round jaw when offence was committed; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of seat, he wore strong boots with a small hole cut in the upper of one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged • with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. DESCRIPTION of a deerhound bitch, the property of Colonel J. H. Graham, of Castlecrine, which was stolen from his yard at Castlecrine, in the parish of Kilfinaghta, barony of Bunratty Lower, on the 20th day of August, 1886:— A gray rough- haired Scotch deerhound bitch, about ten months old, answers to the name of " Tara," Sixmilebridge, Aug. 28, 1886. ( 76100 c.— 31403.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig. stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated tha^ t he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad ftill lace, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to bo the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him ;— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Edwards, native of Bridge- street, Newry, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of September, 1886, in the barony of) Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the house of Colonel M'Cance, Knocknagoney, a silver box, value for j£ 1:— Wants left arm, wore all his beard cut short and turning gray, hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark turning gray hair; wore an old black coat, trowsers and vest. He has been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in othor parts of the country. Newtownards, Sep. 11, 1886. ( 76364 31900.) Dublin. Porter- Porter, Esquire, on 20th or 21st August, 1886:— Black greyhound bitch, fifteen months old, with white chest Twenty pounds reward offered for its recovery. Kesh, September 8, 1886. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading 1 pin fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886 :— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chamberedbreechloading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 450 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin; value for £ 4- 3. A straight stemmed meerschaum pipe, amber mouthpiece, silver- mounted, well coloured; value for 17s. 6 d. Listowel, July 18, 1886. ( 75287 &— 29979.) Kildare. The man, name and native place unknown, described in the Hue- and- Ory of 9th February, 1886 ( charged with having set fire to a rick of hay), has not been arrested. King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz. •— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 2lst July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 32808 M.— 61383.) DESCRIPTION cf John M'Partlan ( mother's sur- name Flynn), native of Tullyhorka, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Innish- aragrath, stolen a horse, the property of John J. Faherty, from off his lands of Sheenagh, in above barony and parish:— Slovenly gait, dark brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard hat, tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Michael Burke, native of Feda- more, who stands charged with having, on the 9th September, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Abington, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a straw hat, dark striped tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, Sep.' 12, 1886. ( 76360 c.— 31896). Philip Kennedy ( failing to stand his trial when on bail, on a charge of firing at the person), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th July, 1886. The person who gave the name of Andrew Cotter ( obtaining goods by false pretences), described in the Hue- and- Cry of 13th instant, has not been arrested. Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of Robert Kearney, native of Ardtrea, cookstown, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 2lst July, 1886, at Bogtown, in the barony of Coleraine, and parish of Dunboe, stolen a silver watch and gold chain, £ 2 10s. in money, and a bundle of clothes, from the person of Robert John Ferguson:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 8| inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair, small moustache ; wore an old velvet cap, long black cord overcoat, gray trowsers; is a labourer; deserter from 6th Brigade, North Irish Division, Royal Artillery. At time of robbery he wore uniform of Royal Artillery, which he threw away, dressing himself in the stolen clothes. Coleraine, July 30, 1886. ( 75503 a— 30283.) DESCRIPTION of three head of cattle, the property of Thomas M'Fadden, of Ashlittle, in this sub- district, which were stolen from the lands of Ballin- loughan, parish of Louth, and barony of Louth, on the night of the 7th or moming of 8th September, 1886:— 1. One- and a- half year old bullock, red and white, speckled or roan colour, short thick horns, fore knees swelled, in good condition, and value for about £ 6. 2. One- and- a- half year old bullock, yellow colour with white spots on sides, short horns, in good con- dition, and value for about £ 4 10 » . 3. A four months' old heifer calf, red colour, with white spots on tail, in good condition, and value for abont £ 2. Ardee, September 13, 1886. ( 76455 c.— 32052.) Mayo. DESCRIPTION of John Curreen ( mother's surname Farragher), native of Cloongowla, who stands charged with having, on the 27th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilmain, parish of Ballinrobe, seriously assaulted his father Michael Curreen, and en- dangering his life by kicking him and with having robbed him of £ 4 ;— Very broad square shoulders, hollow ehest, shaved face, square jaws, long dark straight hair brushed back, determined looking, has a head like an actor or an American, short straight forehead, blue or steel gray eyes, short sharp nose, sallow complexion, athletic make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age; probably wore a dark gray frieze coat, black trowsers, black double- breasted vest of twilled cloth; is a farmer. fl Ballinrobe, July 31, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Edward NevinS, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1880, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish of Borris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro', and carried away articles of wearing apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed on arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowsers, light tweed vest, and toe- capped boots ; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat, and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, wide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age, red hair ; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material, walks erect, and strikes his heels hard against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Edward M'Manus ( mother's sur- name Ryan), native of Derrylahan, county Ros- common, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of September, 1886, in the barony of Moy- carnon, parish of Moore, feloniously assaulted, with some sharp instrument, one William Glynn, thereby endangering his life:— No beard or whiskers, shy- looking, gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7£ inches high, about 20 years of age, sandy hair; wore a light coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a mason. A brindled dog, gray and black stripes. 2. A female dog, all white. 3. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Large mouth, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair ; wore a gray tweed coat; corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, strong laced boots ; is a farmer's son.
