No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is . not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. *„* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or giro the number it bears, as without this Information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. IN custody at Kendal, charged with obtaining goods bv false pretences, Henry Miller or Millen, alius Mullen, Johnson, Milligan, and Henry Wilson:— Is a hawker, resided last at 89, Great George- street. Wigan, born at Sheriff- hill, near Gateshead, 23 years of age, 5 feet inches high, black hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, dark com- plexion, stiff f et figure, is married; dressed in brown hat, dark broad check suit, and dark overcoat; is of horsey appearance. DESCRIPTION of Anthony Moor, committed to Carlisle Assizes for attempted rape :—£. bout 42 years complexion, brown figure, scar, from cut cr wound, insldo left elbow, vaccination marks on left arm between shoulder and elbow, and a recent wonnd, on left leg, between ankle and knee; dressed in an old billycock hat, black corded cloth coat, dirty cord trowsers ( much worn), brown tweed vest, and clogs ; states he is a clogger by trade, and served his apprenticeship in Whitehaven; went to castlowellan, county Down, Ireland, in 1863, and worked th. re for Abel Trohear, for 5 years; afterwards went to Liverpool, and worked 8 months for Jeremiah Morgan, since then worked in Denbighshire, York- shire, and other counties. WANTED by Warrant in this borough, charged with embezzling £ 80 the moneys of his master:— James Crouch', a clerk, about 35 years of age, S feet 3 or 4 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, brown eyes and hair, moustache and slight side whiskers, stoops, and leans yery much over left side when walking; very fond of smoking cigarettes; dressed in a light striped cloth pair of trowsers, fine black wasted cord coat and vest, black billycock hat, and elastic side boots. He is a native of Newcastle- under- Tyne, and was articled with Mr. Dutton, Solicitor,. His mother resides with her daughter, Mrs. Hager, West Brompton, Newcastle- under- Tyne, and she has another daughter, Mrs. Pearson, at 89, Etruria- vale, near Hanley, Staffordshire. He was formerly employed by Messrs. Wakeman and Bleeck, Solicitors, and is well known to William Atkins, King's Artns, Weymouth- street, Mr. Stewart Webb, cabinet maker, and Mrs. Pinnell, Portway, Warminster, Mr. Payne, clerk to the City Justices, Bath, and has. an uncle " Harry " who resides at Dursley, Gloucestershire. He absconded fr im this borough, on the 17th inst. and may endeavour to leave the country. Please causo enquiries to be made at Shipping Offices and other likely places, and should any information be obtained respecting him, communicato with the Chief Constable, Oldham. Nf from the person t> f a gentleman, at the Cental Railway Staiim, Oldham, at about 10- 10 o'clock p. m., on the 21st inst., a gentleman's gold keyless geneva lever watch, No. 1851, crystallized works, full jewelled ; the dome was glass and had been broken ; the dial is supposed to be cracked, and there is a small jewel near the end of each finger, the ring was broken from the watch and left on the chain. The above reward will be paid by Mr. C. A. Billeter, Manchester, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the thief or thieves and recovery of the watch. DESCRIPTION of James Murphv, of Dodworth, near Barnsley, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dodworth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p m., on the 31st ult.:— 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both hands, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and Windsor cord front, white bone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. A notorious poacher, and has served five years' penal servitude for housebreaking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent KANE, Barnsley; or to Captain T. S. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— « - He is 53 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, gray eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a bake: by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left eye, seven boil scars on back, two boil scars left buttock, two burn scars left arm, littlo finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right cheek, and cut back of right hand. DESCRIPTION of tho undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visago, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place; parents reside at 30, Eureka- street, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark twoed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. Tho Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expensos of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward tho person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th September, 1886, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilmackduane, entered the cottage of Larry M'Donnell, of Moyne, and taken therefrom a gun:— This man is much tattooed in blue on back of hand, the left, and about wrist, active appearance, hardy complexion, slight make and erect figure, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, lightish brown hair almost fair, slight moustache, unshaven look round jaw when offence was committed; wore a hard round felt hat, gray round cut coat, dark trowsers torn at each side of Boat, he wore strong boots with a small hole cut in tho upper ot one of them. Description of the gun :— Single barrel muzzle- loading with ramrod attached, stock cracked near small of butt, and small piece of tin placed across cracked part, and wire bound round, two brass bands, old gun. Graham, of Castlecrine, which wa3 stolen from his yard at Castlecrine, in the parish of Kilfinaghta, barony of Bunratty Lower, on the 20th day of August, 1886:— A gray rough- haired Scotch deerhound bitch, about ten months old, answers to the name of " Tara," Sixmilebridge, Aug. 28, 1886. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, p irisl* of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appaarance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to bo the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 75977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. ( 75683 c.— 30614) DESCRIPTION of John Reilly and Thomas Reilly, natives of Lisheen, who stand charged with having, on the night of 9th instant, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad, stolen two two- year old heifers, since recovered, the property of Michael and James Gaven, off their farm at Lisheen, Sub- District of Newhall, county of Clare, and with having sold them at the fair of Kilkee on 10th instant. One gave his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased tho cattle:— 1. Smart active appearance, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a shop assistant. Lately returned from America. 2. Good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsars and vest; is a labourer. v Ennis, July 17, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Edwards, native of Bridge- street, Newry, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of September, 1886, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the house of Colonel M'Cance, Knocknagoney, a silver box, value for £ 1:— Wants left arm, wore all his beard cut short and turning gray, hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark turning gray hair; wore an old black coat, trowsers and vest. He has been returned for trial at Quarter Sessions for this offence, but may have committed other offences in other parts of the country. Newtownards, Sep. 11, 1886. ( 76364 c.— 31900). Dublin. The property of Thomas Turbett, Esquire, which was stolen from his dwelling house, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th July, has not been recovered. James Smith ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1886. Fermanagh. STOLEN from Jamestown House, Magheracross, county Fermanagh, a greyhound bitch, the property of J. Porter- Porter, Esquire, on 20th or 21st August, 1886:— Black greyhound bitch, fifteen months old, with white chest. Twenty pounds reward offered for its recovery. Kesh, September 8, 1886. ( 76317 c.— 31995.) James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884, Galway. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin- fire gun, a six- chambered breech loading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886:— y 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloadir^ gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chamberedbreechloading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with ' 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 460 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin ; value for £ 4- 3. A straight stemmed meerschaum pipe, amber mouthpiece, silver- mounted, well coloured ; Value for 17s. Listowel, July 18, 1886. ( 75287 c— 29979.) Kildare. DESCRIPTION of two dogs, the property of J. W. Raleigh, Esq., D. I., R. I. C., Robertstown, which were stolen from the lands of Robertstown, parish of Kilmeage, and barony of Connell, on the 15th day of August, 1886:— 1. A yellow terrier dog, ears and tail cut, wire haired, castrated, answers to the name of " spite." 2. A blue terrier bitch, long ears and tail, long haired, answers to the name of " lu lu." Both animals fond of water, likely taken by boat men belonging to the Grand Canal. ( 76363 o.— 31899.) John Cassidy ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June, 1886. The man, name and native place unknown, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 9th February, 1886 ( charged with having set fire to a rick of hay), has not heen arrested. King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender,, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oVal visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots. No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1, ( 32808 M.— 61383.) DESCRIPTION of two bullocks, the property of Mr. Wilton Vaugh, which were stolen from the lands of Ballinwing, parish of Kiltoghart, barony of Leitrim, on the 14th day of August, 1886 :— 1. Three- and- a- half years old, grey color, in good condition, branded on right horn with the letter " V." value for £ 11. 2. Three- and- a- half years old, spotted red and white, branded on right horn with the letter " V." value for £ 11. Carrick- on- Shannon, 20 August, 1886. 75943 c.— 31108. Peter Joseph Rooney ( obtaining money by false pretences), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 19th February, 1886. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 14, 1886. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of Michael Burke, native of Feda- more, who stands charged with having, on the 9th September, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Ahington, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a straw hat, dark striped tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, Sep. 12, 1886. ( 76360 c.— 31896). DESCRIPTION of Philip Kennedy ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Ganavane Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of June, 1886, in tho barony of Owneybeg, parish of Doon, fired with a gun at one John Godfrey, with felonious intent, and being bailed to stand his trial at the Limerick Summer Assizes on the 6th July, 1886, failed to do so:— Down- looking and smart appearance, slight turn in nose, gray or blue eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inchos high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard low felt hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest. New Pallas, July 14, 1 886. ( 74887 c.— 29946.) The person who gave the name of Andrew Cotter ( obtaining goods by false pretences), described in tho Ilue- and- Cry of 13th instant, has not been arrested. Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of John Curreen ( mother's surname Farragher), native of Cloongowla, who stands charged with having, on tho 27th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilmain, parish of Ballinrobe, seriously assaulted his father Michael Curreen, and en- dangering his life by kicking him and with having robbed him of £ 1}— Very broad squaro shoulders, hollow chest, shaved face, square jaws, long dark straight hair brushed back, determined looking, has a head like an actor or an American, short straight forehead, bluo or steel gray eyes, short sharp nose, sallow complexion, athletic make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age; probably wore a dark gray friezo coat, black trowsers, black double- breasted vest of twillod cloth ; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of Edward Nevins, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1886, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish of Borris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro', and carried away articles of wearing " apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed OD arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowsers, light tweed vest, and toe- capped boots ; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat. and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, wide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age, red hair ; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material, walks erect, and strikes his heels hard against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed t owsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2.
