DESCRIPTION of Anthony Moor, committed to Carlisle Assizes for attempted rape :— About 42 years of ago 5 feet inchcs high, dark complexion, brown eyes, black hair, oval face, and proportionate figure, scar, from cut or wound, inside left elbow, vaccination marks on left arm between shoulder and elbow, and a recent wound, on left leg, between ankle and knee; dressed in an old billycock hat, black corded cloth coat, dirty cord trowsers ( much worn), brown tweed vest, and clogs ; states he is a clogger by trade, and served his apprenticeship in Whitehaven; went to castlewellan, county Down, Ireland, in 1863, and worked there for Abel Trohear, for 5 years; afterwards went to Liverpool, and worked 8 months for Jeremiah Morgan, since then worked in Denbighshire, York- shire, and other counties. He is a native of Newcastle- under- Tyne, and was articled with Mr. Dutton, Solicitor,. His r& other resides with her daughter, Mrs. Hager. West Brompton, Newcastle- under- Tyne, and she has another daughter, Mrs. Pearson, at 89, Etruria- vale, near Hanley, Staffordshire. Ho was formerly employed by Messrs. Wakeman and Bloeck, Solicitors, and is well known to William Atkins, King's Arms, Weymouth- street, Mr. Stewart Webb, cabinet maker, and Mrs. Pinnell, Portway, Warminster, Mr. Payne, clerk to the City Justices, Bath, and has an uncle " Harry " who resides at Dursley, Gloucestershire. He absconded from this borough, on the 17th inst. and may endeavour to leave the country. STOLEN from the person of a gentleman, at the Central Railway Station, Oldham, at about 10- 10 o'clock p. m., on the 21st inst., a gentleman's gold ieyless geneva lever watch, No. 1851, crystallized works, full jewelled; the dome was glass and had been broken ; tho dial is supposed to be cracked, and there is a small jowol near the end of each finger, the ring was brokon from the watch and left on the chain. Tho above reward will be paid by Mr. C. A. Billeter, Manchester, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the thief or thieves and recovery of the watch. DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, of Dodworth, near Barnsley, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dod worth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p. m., on the 31st ult.:— 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both hands, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and dsoi cprd froiiiK hone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. DESCRIPTION of John Reilly and Thomas Reilly, natives of Lisheen, who stand charged with having, on the night of 9th instant, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad, stolen two two- year old heifers, since recovered, the property of Michael and James Gaven, off their farm at Lisheen, Sub- District of Newhall, county of Clare, and with having sold them at the lair of Kilkee on 10th instant. One gave his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased the cattle:— 1. DESCRIPTION of Philip Kennedy ( mother's surname- Ryan), native of Ganavane Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Doon, fired with a gun at one John Godfrey, with felonious intent, and being bailed to stand his trial at the Limerick Summer Assizes on the 6th July, 1886, failed to do so:— Down- looking and smart appearance, slight turn in nose, gray or blue eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet & inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard low felt hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Robert Kearney, native of Ardtrea, Cookstowc, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1886, at Bogtown, in the barony of Coleraine, and parish of Dunboe, stolen a silver watch and gold chain, £ 2 10s. in money, and a bundle of clothes, from the person of Robert John Ferguson:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 8| inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair, small moustache ; wore an old velvet cap, long black cord overcoat, gray trowsers ; is a labourer; deserter from 6th Brigade, North Irish Division, Royal Artillery. Graham, of Castlecrine, which was stolen from his yard at Castlecrine, in the parish of Kilfinaghta, barony of Bunratty Lower, on the 20th day of August, 1886:— A gray rough- haired Scotch deerhound bitch, about ten months old, answers to the name of " Tara," Sixmilebridge, Aug. 28, 1886. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old. by leaving it on the roof of a pig. stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; woro a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over tbe bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots ; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like tho latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full face, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin- fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886 :— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chambered breech loading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 460 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin ; value for £ 4- 3.
