No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will he necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Owls, Stations, > kc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, 1886. ENGLISH POLICE. COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND. DESCRIPTION of Anthony Moor, committed to Carlisle Assizes for attempted rape :— About 42 years of age 5 feet 8J inches high, dark complexion, brown eyes, black hair, oval face, and proportionate figure, scar, from cut or wound, inside left elbow, vaccination marks on left arm between shoulder and elbow, and a recont wound, on left leg, between ankle and kn^ e; dressed in an old billycock hat, black corded cloth coat, dirty cord trowsers ( much worn), brown- tweed vest, and clogs ; states he is a clogger by trade, and served his apprenticeship in Whitehaven; went to castlewellan, county Down, Ireland, in 1863, and worked th. re for Abel Trohear, for 5 years; afterwards went to Liverpool, and worked 8 months for Jeremiah Morgan, since then worked in Denbighshire, York- shire, and other counties. WANTED by Warrant in this borough, charged with embezzling £ 80 the moneys of his master :— James Crouch, a clerk, about 85 years of age, 6 feet 3 or 4 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, brown eyes and hair, moustache and slight side whiskers, stoops, and leans very much over left side when walking; very fond of smoking cigarettes ; dressed in a light striped cloth pair of trowsers, fine black worsted cord coat and vest, black billycock hat, and elastic side boots. He is a native of Newcastle- under- Tyne, and was articled with Mr. Dutton, Solicitor,. His mother resides with her daughter, Mrs. Hager. West Brompton, Newcastle- under- Tyne, and she has another daughtor, Mrs. Pearson, at 89, Etruria- vale, near Hanley, Staffordshire. He was formerly employed by Messrs. Wakeman and Bleeck, Solicitors, and is well known to William Atkins, King's Arms, Weymouth- street, Mr. Stewart Webb, cabinet maker, and Mrs. Pinnell, Portway, Warminster, Mr. Payne, clerk to the City Justices, Bath, and has an uncle " Harry " who resides at Dursley, Gloucestershire. He absconded from this borough, on tho 17th inst and may endeavour to leave the country. Please cause enquiries to be made at Shipping Offices and other lik ly pi ices, and should any information be obtained respecting him, communicate with the Chief Constable, Oldham. STOLEN from the person of a gentleman, at the Central Railway Station, Oldham, at about 10- 10 o'clock p. m.. on the 2lst inst... a gentleman's gold keyless peLeva lover watch, Nr. 1851, crystallized works, full jVtwe led ; thadome was glass and had been broken ; the dial is supposed to be cracked, and there is a small jewel near the end of each finger, the ring was broken from the watch and left on the chain. The above reward will be paid by Mr. C. A. Billeter, Manchester, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension pf the thief or thieves and recovery of the watch. The above reward will be, paid by Mr. William Ward, Blatchington- road, Hove, for the apprehension and conviction of Benham, and recovery of the money. Warrant issued. DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, of Dodworth, near Barnsley, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dod worth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p. m., on the 31st ult. :— A^ years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both hands, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and Windsor cord front, white bone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. A notorious poacher, and has served five ycats' penal servitude for housebreaking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent KANE, Barnsley; or to Captain T. S. RUSSELL, Chief Constable, West Riding Constabulary, Wake- field. August 1, 1886. ( 32861 m.— 61468). WANTED at Kendal, for failing to report change of residence, Police Supervisee, Henry Clarke, Reg. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar months' imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— He is 53 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, g- pv eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a baker by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left eye, seven boil scars on back, two boil scars left buttock, two burn scars left arm, little finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right cheek, and cut back of right hand. Supervision expires on the 30th Juue, 1890. If found, should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic , ch. 112. sec. 8, or co amunicate with the under- signed, who will send for him. WANTED here, charged with breach of trust and embezzlement or theft of £ 80, at Nitshill, in this county, on Thursday, the 29th July, 1886, Peter M'Rae :— A clerk, native of Archdalieu, Banavie, Fort William1; 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 J inches high, slender make, square shoulders, stoops forward and bends his head when walking; dark brown hair, and brownish moustache, beard and whiskers clean shaved; longish face, large ears, common nose, brown eyes, heavy eyebrows; has a down- looking and melancholy appearance, and speaks with Highland accent. Dressed when last seen in round felt hat, dark corded cloth coat and vest, gray striped tweed trowsers, and elastic- sided boots; carried over his arm a dark coloured melton cloth overcoat. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sbaip nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; parents reside at 30, Eureka- street, oil Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast, Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Cassidy ( mother's surname Reilly), - and Patrick M'Donagh ( mother's surname Keys), natives of Irvinestown, who stand charged with having, on the 20th August, 1886, in the barony of Lurg, parish of Drumkeeran, committed an aggra- vated assault on Jas. Chittick, and others :— 1. May have old scars about head, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard round hat, light tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a dealer in fowl and calf skins. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn ; is a rag gatherer. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884, DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defrd^ he expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 32808 M.— 61383.) DESCRIPTION of two bullocks, the property of Mr. Wilton Vaugh, which were stolen from the lands of Ballinwing, parish of Kiltoghart, barony of Leitrim, on the 14th day of August, 1886:— 1. Three- and- a- balf years old, grey color, in good condition, branded on right horn with the letter " V." vslue for £ 11. 2. Three- and- a- half years old, spotted red and white, branded on right horn with the letter " V." value for £ 11. Carrick- on- Shannon, 20 August, 1886, 75943 c.— 31108. DESCRIPTION of Philip Kennedy ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Ganavane Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Doon, fired with a gun at one John Godfrey, with felonious intent, and being bailed to stand his trial at the Limerick Summer Assizes on the 6th July, i886, failed to do so:— Down- looking and smart appearance, slight turn in nose, gray or blue eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard low felt hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest. New Pallas, July 14. 1 ( 74887 c.— 29946.) The person who gave the name of Andrew Cotter ( obtaining goods by false pretences), described in the Hue- and- Cry of 13th instant, has not been arrested. Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of Robert Kearney, native of Ardtrea, Cookstown, county Tyrone, who stand charged with having, on the 21st July, 1886, at Bogtown, in the barony of Coleraine, and parish of Dunboe, stolen a silver watch and gold chain, £ 2 10s. in money, and a bundle of clothes, from the person of Robert John Ferguson:— Gray eyes, regular liose, fresh com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 8| inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair, small moustache ; wore an old velvet cap, long black cord overcoat, gray trowsers ; is a labourer; deserter from 6th Brigade, North Irish Division, Royal Artillery. At time of robbery he wore uniform of Royal Artillery, which he threw away, dressing bimself in the stolen clothes. Coleraine, July 30, 1886. ( 75503 c.— 30283.) DESCRIPTION of John Curreen ( mother's surname Farragher), native of Cloongowla, who stands charged with having, on the 27th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilmain, parish of Ballinrobe, seriously assaulted his father Michael Curreen, and en- dangering his life by kicking him and with having robbed him of £ 4 ;— Very broad square shoulders, hollow chest, shaved face, square jaws, long dark straight hair brushed back, determined looking, has a head like an actor or an American, short straight forehead, blue or steel gray eyes, short sharp nose, sallow complexion, athletic make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 ' years of age ; probably wore a dank gray frieze coat, black trowsers, black double- breasted vest of twilled cloth ; is a farmer. Graham, of Castlecrine, which was Stolen from his yard at Castlecrine, in the parish of Kilfinaghta, barony of Bunratty Lower, on the 20th day of August, 1886:— A gray rough- haired Scotch deerhound bitch, about ten months old, answers to the name of Tara," Sixmilebridge, Aug. 28, 1886. ( 76100 c.— 31403.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4Xmonths old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers ; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots ; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that ho had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full lace, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23,1886. ( 76977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight mako, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy 1 lir; wore an old brown hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. Kilrush, August 5, 1886. ( 75683 c.— 30614). DESCRIPTION of John Reilly and Thomas Reilly, natives of Lisheen, who stand charged with having, on the night of 9th instant, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad, stolen two two- year old heifers, since recovered, the property of Michael and James Gaven, off their farm at Lisheen, Sub- District of Newh ill, county of Claro, and with having sold them at the lair of Kilkee on 10th instant. One gave his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased the cattle:— 1. Smart active appearance, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest ; is a shop assistunt. Lately returned from America. 2. Good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round faco, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Ennis, July 17, 1886. ( 75354 c 30064.) Galway. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- cry, 13th July, 1886. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886:— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chambered breechloading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, ' 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 450 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin ; value for £ 4- 3. A straight stemmed meerschaum pipe, amber mouthpiece, silver- mount ? d, well coloured ; value for 17s. C( 7. Listowel, July 18, 1886. ( 75287 c— 29979.) Kildare. John Cassidy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June', 1886. The man, name and native place unknown, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 9th February, 1886 ( charged with having set fire to a rick of hay), has not been arrested. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of a dog, the property of the Reverend Hill Wilson, which was stolen from his residence the Rectory, Kilmacow, townland and parish of Kil- macow, barony of Iverk, on the 14th August, 1886 :— A female fox terrier, age 4 years, white colour, with broad black patches on sides and back, black and tan head, drops ears, slight cut on edge of one ear, short docked tail, answers to the name of " Fuss." King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. DESCRIPTION of Edward Nevins, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1886, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish > rris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro', ^ ttd carried away articles of wearing apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed on arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowsers, light tweed vest, and toe- capped boots ; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat, and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, wide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age, red hair ; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material, walks erect, and strikes his heels hafd against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Mary Mulvey or Mulvihill, sup- posed native of Ballyslush, Elphin, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 9th instant, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, deserted her infant child, Julia M'Roberts, aged 1 month, and which has since died:— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 19 or 20 years of age, dark hair; wore'a black hat with red flower, green dress, and black jacket; is a farm servant. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed trOwsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Large mouth, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair ; wore a gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, strong laced boots ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius English and Richard English, natives of Carrowkeale , who stand charged with having, on the 24th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilnamagh Lower, parish of Donohill, struck James Gleeson with a stone, fracturing his skull. Gleeson since died from the effects of the fracture. 1. Very dark face, gray eyes, thin [ nose, very dark complexion, dark face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore an old soft hat, old dark tweed coat, old tweed trowsers, and vest; is d farmer. 2. Rather long neck, blue eye?, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair, no hair on face except a black moustache on upper lip; wore an old dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of James O'Brien, native of Douglas, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 24th day of July 1886, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Cappagh, assaulted Patrick Maguire, whose life is now in danger, erysipelas having set in, Warrant in hands of Police at Omagh :— Cut over right eye, got in the scuffle, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 31 years of age, light brown hair ; wore a dark coat, moleskin trowsers, dark vest, served in the army ; is a Blacksmith.
