WA NTHII by Warrant in this borough, charged with embezzling £ 80 the moneys of his master:— James Crouch, a clerk, about 35 years of age, B feet 3 or 4 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, brown eyes and hair. moustache find slight side whiskers, stoops, and leans very much over left side when walking; very fond of smoking cigarettes : dressed in a light striped cl, oth p^ ir of browsers, fine black worsted cord coat and v « st, black billycock hat, and elastic sido boots. Ho is a native of Newcastle- under- Tyne, and was articled with Mr. Dutton, Solicitor,. His mother resides with her daughter, Mrs. Hager, West brompton, newCastle- under- Tyne, and she has otter daughter, Mrs. Pearson, at 99, Etruria- vale, near Hanley, Staffordshire. lb' was tonn - rly employed bv Messrs. Wakeman and Bleeck Solicitors and is well known to William Atkins King arms, Weymouth- street, Mr. Stewart Webb, cabinet maker, and Mrs. Pinnell, Portway, Warminster. Mr. Payne, clerk to the City Justices, Bath, and has an uncle " Harry" who resides at Dursley, Gloucestershire; He abseonded from this borough, on the 17' th inst. and may. endeavour to leave the country. Please cause enquiries to be made at Shipping Offices and other likely places, and should any information be obtained respecting him, communicate with the Chief Constable, Oldham. x Town Hall, Oldham, August 24, 1886. STOLEN from the person of a gentleman, at the Central Railway Station, Oldham, at about 10- 10 o'clock p. m., on the 21st inst., a gentleman's gold keyless geneva lever watch, No. 1851, crystallized works, full jewelled; the dome was glass and had been broken ; tho dial is supposed to be cracked, and there is a small jewel near the end of each finger, the ring was broken from tho watch and left on tho chain. The above reward will be paid by Mr. C. A. Billeter, Manchester, to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the thief or thieves and recovery of the watch. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham. DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, of Dodworth, near Barnsloy, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dodworth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p. m., on tho 31st ult.:— 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both hands, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and Windsor cord front, white bone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without . irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. A notorious poacher, and has served five years' penal servitude for housebreaking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent KANE, Barnsley; or to Captain T. S. RUSSELL, Chief Constable, West Riding Constabulary, Wake- field. August 1, 1886. ( 32861 M.— 61468). WANTED at Kendal, for failing to report change of residence, Police Supervisee, Henry Clarke, Reg. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st, July, 1885, and sentenced to 12 calendar month's imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— He is 53' years of age, 5 feet 6| inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, srev eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a baker by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left eye, seven boil scSrs on back, two boil scars left buttock, two burn ssars left arm, little finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right, cheek, and~ 6ut* back *> f right hand. Supervision expires on the 30th June, 1890. If found, should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Yic., ch. 112. sec. 8, or communicate with the under- signed, who will send for him. WANTED for fraudulently obtaining, on the 14th July, 1886, a rounded gold 18 carat buckle ring, set with three small diamonds, scratched " H. T." inside, 1 seal travelling rug, 1 rug strap, 1 black leather handbag, 1 white shirt. 2 linen collars, Connaught shape, name Welsh, Wayetron, and Co. thereon, 2 pairs of linen cuffs, size 9J, marked Ben inside, 1 black satin tie, Stanley shape, with white spots, and £ 7 9s. 6 d. in money:— 1. Harry Joseph, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout build, dark brown hair, slight dark moustache, may have a little side whiskers or clean shaved, broad full face, prominent eyes, rather a Jewish look; dressed in a black frock coat, fine cloth, light cloth trowsers, black round felt hat, size 7, maker Lincoln, Bennett, and Co., London, inside, and may be wearing some of the linen and the tie above described, gave his address as Fernhead Lodge, near Harrow- road, London, W., supposed false. 2. Charles Arthur Slader, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 to 10 inches high, slender build, dark brown hair, thin face, dark brown beard and moustache, cut short; dressed in a black cloth mourning coat, dark trowsers, and black felt hat, size 6f-, name Hood and Salmond, Imrie, and Co., Durham, inside, was some time in a solicitor's office in this city. Their modus operandi is to call upon tradesmen and order goods and pay for the same by cheque, which is occasionally in excess of the value of the goods, in which case they receive the balance in cash, upon the cheques been presented they are returned marked no account. Joseph will have a cheque book in his possession, North Western Bank ( Limited), Liverpool Branch, with several unused cheques in it, also a pass book of the same bank. It is particularly requested that every possible search and enquiry be made at hotels, billiard rooms, and other likely places, and if found arrest, and communicate with JOHN SMITH, Chief Constable, City Police Office, Claypath, Durham. WANTED, at Kendal, for failing to report, Police Supervisee, Charles Webster, alias Charles Thomp- son :— 42 years of age, 5 feet inches high without shoes, fair complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, proportionate build, oval face ; scar back of neck, vaccination mark on right arm, scar on right hip, and two on right knee, varicose veins on left leg, mole right side of body, " Nil desperandum," the star of independence on arm, is a gardener by trade, and a native of Kendal. Sentenced at Carlisle, 17th October, 1876, to 8 years' penal servitude and 2 years' police supervision for housebreaking, liberated 16th December, 1882, W. C. 1122, left Kendal on the 8th inst. for Liverpool. He was convicted at Kendal on the 8th May, 1885, and 22nd January, 1886, for offences under the 34 and 35 Vict., ch. 112, sec. 8, and sentenced respectively to 4 and 6 months' imprisonment, If found, should be dealt with under the above Act, or communicate with THOMAS COTTON, Chief Constable, Kendal, Westmor- land. WANTED on Warrant, charged with stealing at Whittington Barracks, near Lichfield, on the 11th July instant, £ 15 in cash, one suit of dark blue serge, coat cut- away pattern, and one suit of slate- coloured tweed, both suits marked on ea'ch garment, " French and Mure, Tailors, No. 50, Jerningh- street, Piccadilly," Frederick Emberton and John Carty, privates in the North Staffordshire Regiment:— 1. 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, small moustache, dark gray eyes, stout build. Marks— Flag and sailor, ship, rose, thistle and shamrock, 3 lions in form of bracelet on right arm, " Gl," woman standing on ball, cross on left arm, ring on third finger of left hand; dressed in one ot the above described suits, and military boots. 2. 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, well built, coprse features, short neck, a native of Ballyragget, county Kilkenny; dressed in one of the above described suits, and military boots. These men may be accompanied by a prostitute named Clara Biker, a native of West Bromwich, of very dark complexion. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at shipping offices, and other likely places, as it is thought Emberton may re- engage in the Navy. WANTED here, charged with breach of trust and embezzlement or theft of £ 80, at Nitshill, in this county, on Thursday, the 29th July, 1886, Peter M'Rae :— A. clerk, native of Archdalieu, Banavie, Fort William ; 25 years of age, 5 feet 9-| inches high, slender make, square shoulders, stoops forward and bends his head when walking ; dark brown hair, and brownish moustache, beard and whiskers clean shaved ; longish face, larga ears, common nose, brown eyes, heavy eyebrows; has a down- looking and melancholy appearance, and speaks with Highland accent. English convict, Margaret Ryan, described in Hue- and- Cry of 1st of January last, has not been arrested. Convict James Hearty, described in Hue- and- Cry of 8th of last month, has not been arrested. Convict James Slattery ( failing to report himself), not arrested; Hue- and Cry, 5th January, 1886. his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased the cattle:— 1. Smart active appearance, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular / ace, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a shop assistant. Lately returned from America. 2. Good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. A - Fermanagh. » DESCRIPTION of Daniel Cassidy ( mother's surname Reilly), and Patrick M'Donagh ( mother's surname Keys), natives of Irvinestown, who stand charged with having, on the 20th August, 1886, in the barony of Lurg, parish of Drumkeeran, committed an aggra- vated assault on Jas. Chittick, and others :— 1. May have old scars about head, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard round hat, light tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a dealer in fowl and calf skins. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn ; is a rag gatherer. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. Kerry. - * DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin- fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886 :— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chamberedbreechloading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and * 450 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather ease with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin ; value for £ i- 3. A straight stemmed meerschaum pipe, amber mouthpiece, silver- mounted, well coloured ; value for 17s. 6( 7. Listowel, July 18, 1886. ( 75287 c— 29979.) Kildare. John Cassidy ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June, 1886. The man, name and native place unknown, described ia the Hue- and- Cry of 9th February, 1886 ( charged with having set fire to a rick of ha£, has not been arrested. Kilkenny. ^ DESCRIPTION of a dog, the property of the Reverend Hill Wilson, which was stolen from his residence the Rectory, Kilmacow, townland and parish of Kil macow, barony of Iverk, on the 14th August, 1886:— A female fox terrier, age 4 years, white colour, with broad black patches on sides and back, black and tail head, drops ears, slight cut on edge of one ear, short docked tail, answers to the name of " Fuss." King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employmont he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and- dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a G Division. PARTICULARS relative to Convict William Donohoe, convicted at Kilkenny, on 13th October, 1881, for larceny from person and previous conviction, and sentencod to 5 years' penal servitude:— 40 years of age on conviction, married, is a gambler, born at Roscrea, resided beforo conviction at Kilkenny; black hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, broad nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5| inches high ; M. M. W. D. on right forearm, kick mark on right shin, cut mark on left eyebrow. This man was released from Lusk Prison, on licence 30th September, 1885, and went to reside in Dublin, He subsequently went to Oranmore, which placo he left on the 9th June last, stating he was going to Parsonstown, but he has not reported himself at tho latter place, and his present where- abouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act, 84 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 32937 m.— 61640). PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee, George Budd, convicted at Birmingham, county Warwick, on the 29th May, 1885, for stealing a watch and chain, and sentenced to 12 calendar months, and 2 years police supervision :— 29 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor; born at Liverpool, resided before conviction at Birmingham ; dark- brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, full visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high; scar left cheek, 2 blue dots and cross right lower arm, 5 blue dots left lower arm, scar both knees, birth mark right scat. This supervisee was discharged from Birmingham Prison on 28th May, 1886, and notified his intention of residing at O'Connell- street, Dublin, but he has not since been heard of, and his whereabouts is un- known. General Prisons Board, July 13,1886. ( 32744 M.— 61259.) PARTICULARS relative to convict Anne Hall, other- wise Mary M'Cabe, convicted at Dundalk, at county Louth Sessions, on 1st February, 1883, for larceny after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 6 years' penal servitude f— 50 years of age on convic- tion, single, prison trade laundry work and sewing, bornin Drogheda, where she resided before conviction, her friends reside in Wigan ; brown hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, broad visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high; slightly pockpitted. This woman was released on licence from Grange- gorman Prison on 11th June, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. She left her residence, 6, St. Peter's- terrace, Cabra- road, about the middle of last month, without informing the Police, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, July 14,1886. ( 32750 M.— 61270.) PARTICULARS relative to Police Supervisee Sarah Kelly, alias Gordon, alias Connor, convicted at county Monaghan Sessions, on the 26th June, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 12 calondar months from 23rd June, 1885, and 2 years polico supervision:— 36 years of age on con- viction, single, is a servant, born at Rathangan, county Kildaro, no fixed place of residence before conviction, her friends reside at Rathangan, county Kildare; dark hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, ordinary nose, regular mouth, sallow com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet inches high. This Supervisee was discharged from Tullamore Prison on 22nd June, 1886, and stated sho was going to resido at Dirty- lane, Dublin, but she has not since been heard of, and her whereabouts is unknown. Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, ( embezzle- ment), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 31st July, 1885. Convict John O'Brien, described in Hue- and- Cry of 2Sth May, 1386, has not been arrested. Convict Frederick Benson, described in Hue- and- Cry, of 20th April, 1886, for not reporting himself, has not been arrested. English Police Supervisee, Patrick O'Donald, alias Hugh Lapping ( not reporting himself to the Police), not arrested ; Hue- iind- Cry, 19th March, 1886. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th August, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Francis Foster, 17 years of age, black hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, sharp nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, about 5 feet high; round scar mark on outside of right thigh, cut scar on outside of left knee- cap; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to same place ; parents reside at 30, Eureka street, off Blackstaff- road, Belfast; his aunt named Lavery resides at Roland- street, Belfast. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Dark tweed tunic, dark tweed trowsers, moleskin vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black tie, nailed Blucher boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. Joseph Carlisle, not arrested ; Hne- and- Cry, 12th March, 1886. Armagh. James Loughran ( assault endangering life), has surrendered; Hue- and- Cry, 10th instant. Charles O'Higgins ( firing at and wounding), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th June, 1886. Belfast. James Monaghan, alias Delaney ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd February, 1886. Thomas Cullen ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. Cavan. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Clare. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names and native places unknown, believed from accent to be Clare or Limerick, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the 19th day of August, 1886, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, deserted a male infant about 4 months old, by leaving it on the roof of a pig stye in the townland of Lattoon South. 1. Smart hardy appearance, rather square shoulders, active make, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, five feet nine inches high, about thirty years of age, sandy hair, no beard or whiskers, moustache sandy or reddish- brown colour; wore a hard felt hat, dark sack coat, and light coloured trowsers; had his socks pulled over the bottom of trowsers, laced or highlow boots ; has the appearance of a carpenter or mason, more like the latter. This man stated that he had left Limerick and was going to Ennis to look for work. 2. Strong hardy appearance, regular nose, fresh complexion, rather broad full lace, medium make, five feet three inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark shawl and dress; appeared to be the wife of No. 1. Sixmilebridge, Aug. 23, 1886. ( 7 5 977 c.— 31211.) DESCRIPTION of Edward Nevins, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1886, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish of Borris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro', and carried away articles of wearing apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed on arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowsers, light tweed vest, and toe- capped boots; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat, and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles.
