DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, of Dodworth, near Barnsley, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dodworth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p. m., on the 81st ult.:— 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both hands, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and Windsor cord front, white bone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. A notorious poacher, and has served five years' penal servitude for housebreaking. Information to be given, to Mr. Superintendent KANE, Barnsley; or to Captain T. S. No. 1989, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 13 calendar month's imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— He is 53 years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a baker by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left eye, seven boil scars on back, two boil scars loft buttock, two burn scars left arm, little finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right cheek, and cut back of right hand. T." inside, 1 seal travelling rug, 1 rug strap, 1 black leather handbag, 1 white shirt. 2 linen collars, Connaught shape, name Welsh, Wayetron, and Co. thereon, 2 pairs of linen cuffs, size 9J, marked Ben inside, 1 black satin tie, Stanley shape, with white spots, and £ 7 9*. 6d. in money:— 1. Harry Joseph, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high, stout build, dark brown hair, slight dark moustache, may have a little side whiskers or clean shaved, broad full face, prominent eyes, rather a Jewish look; dressed in a black frock coat, fine cloth, light cloth trowsers, black round felt hat, size 7, maker Lincoln, Bennett, and Co., London, inside, and may be wearing some of the linen and the tie above described, gave his address as Fernhead Lodge, near Harrow- road, London, W., supposed false. Q. Charles Arthur Slader, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 to 10 inches high, slender build, dark brown hair, thin face, dark brown beard and moustache, cut short; dressed in a black cloth mourning coat, dark trowsers, and black felt hat, size 6f, name Hood and Salmond, Imrie, and Co., Durham, inside, was some time in a solicitor's office in this city. Their modus operandi is to call upon tradesmen and order goods and pay for the same by cheque, which is occasionally in excess of the value of the goods, in which case they receive the balance in cash, upon the cheques been presented they* are returned marked no ' account. Joseph will have a cheque book in his possession, North Western Bank ( Limited), Liverpool Branch, with several unused cheques in it, also a pass book of the same bank. It is particularly requested that every possible search and enquiry be made at hotels, billiard rooms, and other likely places, and if found arrest, and communicate with JOHN SMITH, Chief Constable, City Police Office, Claypath, Durham. WANTED, at Kendal, for failing to report, Police Supervisee, Charles Webster, alias Charles Thomp- son :— 43 years of age, 5 feet inches high without shoes, fair complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, proportionate build, oval face ; scar back of neck, vaccination mark on right arm, scar on right hip, and two on right knee, varicose veins on left leg, mole right side of body, " Nil desperandum," the star of independence on arm, is a gardener by trade, and a native of Kendal. Sentenced at Carlisle, 17th October, 1876, to 8 years' penal servitude and 3 years' police supervision for housebreaking, liberated 16th December, 1883, W. C. 1122, left Kendal on the 8th inst. for Liverpool. He was convicted at Kendal on the 8th May, 1885, and 22nd January, 1886, for offences under the 34 and 35 Vict., ch. 112, sec. 8, and sentenced respectively to 4 and 6 months' imprisonment. PARTICULARS relative to Convict William Donohoe, convicted at Kilkenny, on 13th October, 18& 1, for larceny from person and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 40 years of age on conviction, married, is a gambler, born at Roscrea, resided before conviction at Kilkenny; black hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, broad nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 J inches high ; M. M. W. D. on right forearm, kick mark on right shin, cut mark on left eyebrow. This man was released from Lusk Prison, on licence 30th September, 1885, and went to reside in Dublin. He subsequently went to Oranmore, which place he left on the 9th June last, stating he was going to Parsonstown, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present where- abouts is unknown. PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee, George Budd, convicted at Birmingham, county Warwick, on the 29th May, 1885, for stealing a watch and chain, and sentenced to 12 calendar months, and 2 years police supervision :— 29 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor; born at Liverpool, resided before conviction at Birmingham ; dark- brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, full visage, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high; scar left cheek, 2 blue dots and cross right lower arm, 5 blue dots left lower arm, scar both knees, birth mark right seat. This supervisee was discharged from Birmingham Prison on 28th May, 1886, and notified his intention of residing at O'Connell- street, Dublin, but he has not since been heard of, and his whereabouts is un- known. This woman was released on licence from Grange- gorman Prison on 11th June, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. She loft her residence, 6, St. Peter's- terrace, Cabra- road, about tho middle of last month, without informing the Police, and her present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of John Reilly and Thomas Reilly, natives of Lisheen, who stand charged with having, on the night of 9th instant, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad, stolen two two- year old heifers, since recovered, the property of Michael and James Gaven, off their farm at Lisheen, Sub- District of Newhall, county of Clare, and with having sold them at the fair of Kilkee on 10th instant. One gave his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased the cattle:— 1. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin- fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticannor, on the 11th July, 1886 :— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chambered breechloading revolver, maker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 450 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of case with a pin ; value for £ 4- 3. DESCRIPTION of a dog, the property of the Reverend Hill Wilson, which was stolen from his residence the Rectory, Kilmacow, townland and parish of Kil- macow, barony of Iverk, on the 14th August, 1886 :— A female fox terrier, age 4 years, white colour, with broad black patches on sides and back, black and tan head, drops ears, slight cut on edge of one ear, short docked tail, answers to the name of " Fuss." King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native of Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained money by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the top of head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. DESCRIPTION of Philip Kennedy ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Ganavane Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Doon, fired with a gun at one John Godfrey, with felonious intent, and being bailed to stand his trial at the Limerick Summer Assiies on the 6th July, 1886, failed to do so:— Down- looking and smart appearance, slight turn in nose, gray or blue eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard low felt hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Edward Nevins, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1886, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish of Borris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro, and carried away articles of wearing apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed on arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowsers, light tweed vest, and toe- capped boots; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat, and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles. DeSCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, wide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age, red hair; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material, walks erect, and strikes his heels hard against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Large mouth, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair; wore a gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, strong laced boots ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius English and Richard English, natives of Carrowkeale , who stand charged with having, on the 24th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilnamagh Lower, parish of Donohill, struck James Gleeson with a stone, fracturing his skull. Gleeson since died from the effects of the fracture. 1. Very dark face, gray eyes, thin [ nose, very dark complexion, dark face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore an old soft hat, old dark tweed coat, old tweed trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. 2. Rather long neck^ blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair, no hair on face except a black moustache on upper lip; wore an old dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son.
