No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. ' Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. *„* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers; or give the number it bears, as without thi « information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. ENGLISH POLICE. SPECIAL NOTICE. WILFUL MURDER. DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, of Dodworth, near Barnsley, a collier, wanted for the wilful murder of Police Constable Alfred Austwick, of the West Riding of Yorkshire Constabulary, stationed at Dodworth, by shooting him with a gun, at 11 30 p m., on the 81st ult.:— 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, round face, proportionate build, several scars on top of head, mole on right cheek, several coal marks on right wrist and back of both han8s, small scar on top of left wrist; dressed in a dark mixture cloth coat, sleeved waistcoat with moleskin back, and Windsor cord front, white bone buttons, moleskin trowsers, clogs without irons, far worn, brown cap with peak. A notorious poacher, and has served five years' penal servitude for housebreaking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent KANE, Barnsley; or to Captain T. S. RUSSELL, Chief Constable, West Riding Constabulary, Wake- field; August 1, 1886. ( 32861 M.— 61468). WANTED at Kendal, for failing to report change of residence, Police Supervisee, Henry Clarke, Reg. No. 1939, who was convicted at Preston Sessions, on the 1st July, 1885, and sentenced to 13 calendar month's imprisonment, and 4 years' Police supervision:— He is 53 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, gray eyes, proportionate build, oval shaped face, a baker by trade, and a native of Stockport, Cheshire; has scar over left oye, seven boil scars on back, two boil gears left buttock, two burn scars left arm, little finger right hand crooked, ruptured both sides, three blue dots right cheek, and cut back of right hand. Supervision expires on the 30th June, 1890. If found, should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., ch. 112. sec. 8, or communicate with the under- signed, who will send for him. WANTED for fraudulently obtaining, on the 14th July, lK86, a rounded gold 18 carat buckl" ring, set with three small diamonds, scratched " II. T " inside, 1 seal travelling rug, ] rug strap, 1 black leather haudbag, 1 white shirt. 2 linen collars, Connaught shape, name Welsh, Wayetron, and Co. thereon, 2 pairs of linen cuffs, size 9i, marked Ben inside. 1 black satin tie, Stanley shape, with white spots, and £ 7 9s. 6d. in money :— 1. Harry Joseph, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout build, dark brown hair, slight dark moustache, may have a little side whiskers or clean shaved, broad full face, prominent eyes, rather a Jewish look; dressed in a black fro- k coat, fine cloth, light cloth trowsers, black round felt ha', size 7, maker Lincoln, Bonnett, and Co., London, inside, and may bo wearing some of the linen and the tie above described, gave his address as Fernhead Lodge, near Hurrow- roud, London, W., supposed false. 2. Charles Arthur Slader, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 to 10 inches high, slender build, dark brown hair, thin face, dark brown beard and moustache, cut short; dressed in a black cloth mourning coat, dark trowsers, and black felt hat, size 6|, name Hood and Salmond, Imrie, and Co., Durham, inside, was some time in asolicitor's office in this city. ' operandi is to call upon tradesmen and goods and pay for the same by cheque, which scasionally in excess of the value of the goods, in which case they receive the balance in cash, upon the cheques been presented they are returned marked no account. Joseph will have a cheque book in his possession, North Western Bank ( Limited), Liverpool Branch, with several unused cheques in it, also a pass book of the same bank. It is particularly requested that every possible search and enquiry be made at hotels, billiard rooms, and other likely places, and if found arrest, and communicate with JOHN SMITH, Chief Constable, City Police Office, Claypath, Durham. WANTED, at Kendal, for failing to report, Police Supervisee, Charles Webster, alias Charles Thomp- son ;— 42 years of age, 5 feet inches high without shoes, fair complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, proportionate buisd, oval face : scar back of neck, vaccination made on right arm, scar on right hip, and two on right knee, varicose veins on left leg, mole right side of body, " Nil desperandum," the star of independence on arm, is a gardener by trark;, and a native of Kendal. Sentenced at Carlisle, 17th October, 1876, to 8 years' penal servitude and 2 years' police supervision for housebreaking, liberated 16th December, 1882, W. C. 1122, left Kendal on the 8th inst. for Liverpool. He was convicted at Kendal on the 8th May, 1885, and 22nd January, 1886, for offences under the 31 and 35 Vict., ch. 112, sec. 8, and sentenced respectively to 4 and 6 months' imprisonment. WANTED on Warrant, charged with stealing at Whittington Barracks, near Lichfield, on the 11th July instant, £ 15 in cash, one suit of dark blue serge, coat cut- away pattern, and one suit of slate coloured tweed, both suits marked on each garment, " French and Mure, Tailors, No. 50, Jerningh- street, Piccadilly," Frederick Emberton and John carty, privates in the North Staffordshire Regiment:— 1. 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion;, ligh't tir, small moustache, dark gray eye?, stbut build. Marks— Flag and sailor, ship, rose, thistle and shamrock, 3 lions in form of bracelet on right arm, " 61," woman standing on ball, cross on left arm, ring on third finger of left hand; dressed in one ot the above described suits, and military boots. 2. 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, well built, icoprse features, short neck, a native of Ballyragget, county Kilkenny; dressed in one of the above described suits, and military boots. These men ma\ be accompanied by a prostitute named Clara baker, a native of West Bromwich, of very dark complexion. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at shipping offices, and other likely places, as it is thought Emberton may re- engage in the Navy. RENFREWSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED here, charged with breach of trust and embezzlement or theft of £ 80, at Nitshill, in this county, on Thursday, the 29th July, 1886, Peter M'Rae :— A clerk, native of Archdalieu, Banavie, Fort William ; 25 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, slender make, square shoulders, stoops forward and bends his head when walking; dark brown hair, and brownish moustache, beard and whiskers clean shaved; longish face, large ears, common nose, brown eyes, heavy eyebrow^ has " . down- looking and melancholy appearance, and speaks with Highland accent.. Dressed when Ja$ t seen in round fejt h. dark corded cloth coat and vest, gray stfifSea twe trowsers, and elastic sided boots; carried over his arm a dark coloured melton cloth overcoat. Police officers are requested to make careful search for accused at Shipping Offices, on outward bound vessels, at hotels and other likely places in seaport towns, and, if found, to apprehend, and communicate with ROB. PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee, George Budd, convicted at Birmingham, county Warwick, on " the 29th May, 1885, for stealing a watch and chain, and sentenced to 12 calendar months, and 2 years police supervision :— 29 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor; born at Liverpool, resided before conviction at Birmingham ; dark- brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, fuR visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high; scar left cheek, 2 blue dots and cross right lower arm, 5 blue dots left lower arm, scar both knees, birth mark right seat. This supervisee was discharged from Birmingham Prison on 28th May, 1886, and notified his intention of residing at O'Connell- street, Dublin, but he has not since been heard of, and his whereabouts is un- known. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Anne Hall, other- wise Mary M'Cabe, convicted at Dundalk, at county Louth Sessions, on 1st February, 1883, for larceny after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 6 years'penal servitude:— 50 years of age on convic- tion, single, prison trade laundrywork and sewing, born in Drogheda, where she resided before conviction, ber friends reside in Wigan ; brown hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, broad visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high ; slightly pockpitted. This woman was released on licence from Grange- gorman Prison on 11th June, 1886, aud went to reside in Dublin. She left her residence, 6, St. Peter's- terrace, Cabra- road, about the middle of last month, without informing the Police, and her present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of Thomas O'Connor, alias Tom Sally ( mother's surname Creehan), native of Seafield, who stands charged with having, on the 25th July, 1886, in the barony of Ibrickane, parish of Kilmurray, fractured the skull of Thomas Dwyer, of Seafield, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 18 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Reilly and Thomas Reilly natives of Lisheen, who stand charged with having) on the night of 9th instant, in the barony of Islands* parish of Clondegad, stolen two two- year old heifers, since recovered, the property of Michael and James Gaven, off their farm at Lisheen, Sub- District of Newhall, county of Clare, and with having sold them at the lair of Kilkee on 10th instant One gave his name as Murphy to the dealer who purchased j the cattle:— 1. Smart active appearance, blue eyes, regular . nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 j feet 10 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown i hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a shop assistant. Lately returned from America. 2. Good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. King's DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullinan, native * f Clare- morris, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd July, 1886, in the jfcony of Garrycastle, parish of Rynagh, obtained nflkey by false pretences, viz.:— By representing that he still collected money for L. Faller and Co., Athlone, from whose employment he had been dismissed some time ago:— Slightly pockpitted, bald on the topof head, small side whiskers, and dark moustache, gray eyes, short nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 41 years of age, dark hair cut short; wore a soft brown hat and gray tweed suit; is a commercial traveller; is known to the Constabulary in adjoining counties. Ferbane, August 11, 1886. ( 75774 c.— 30778.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st July, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Michael M'Crudders, 1061, 13 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, cocked nose, regular mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to Derryhullock, Randalstown, county Antrim, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch make), and blucher boots, No. 1061. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 32808 M.— 61383.) PARTICULARS relative to Police Supervisee Sarah Kelly, alias Gordon, alias Connor, convicted at county Monaghan Sessions, on the 26th June, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 12 calendar months from 23rd June, 1885, and 2 years police supervision:— 36 years of age on con- viction, single, is a servant, born at Rathangan, county Kildaro, no fixed place of residence before conviction, her friends reside at Rathangan, county Kildare; dark hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, ordinary nose, regular mouth, sallow com- ploxion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet 8i inches high. This Supervisee was discharged from Tullamore Prison on 22nd June, 1886, and stated she was going to rosido at Dirty- lane, Dublin, but she has not since been heard of, and her whereabouts is unknown. Convict, James Schriber, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 19th January last, has not been arrested. English convict, Margaret ryan, described in Hue- and- Cry of 1st of January last, has not been arrested. Convict James Hearty, described in Hue- and- Cry of 8th of last month, has not been arrested. Charlotte Duggan ( cattle stealing), described in the Huo- and- Cry of tlje 20th of last month ; has been arrested. James Colwell ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th » May, 1886. Young offender Wm. Joseph Carlisle, not arrested ; Hae- and- Cry, 12th March, 1886. Cork. DESCRIPTION of James Burns, native of Cork City, who stands charged with having, on the 31st July, 1886, at Cork City, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Paul's, so grievously assaulted one Hannah M'Carthy, as to endanger life :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark swarthv complexion, full face, medium make 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, dark beard and whiskers ; wore a black round hard hat, black cloth coat, trowsers, and vGBt * is tailor Cork, South, Aug. 6, 1886. ( 75676 c.— 30591.) Dublin. The property of Thomas Turbett, Esquire, which was stolen from his dwelling house, described in Hue- a » d- Cry of 13th July, has not been recovered. DESCRIPTION of six head of cattle, the property of William Moore, which were stolen from off his form at Conabeigh, parish of Fenagh, barony of Leitrim, on the night of tho 31st July, or morning of the 1st August, 1886. 1. Two- year- old bullock, white colour, branded on the right hoof and horn with the letters " E. M.; " value for £ 12. 2. Two- year- old bullock, yellow colour, branded on the right hoof and horn with the letters " E. M.;" value for £ 12. 3. Two- year- old heifer, strawberry colour, branded on the right hoof and horn with the letters " E. M.;" cocked horns ; value for £ 12. 4. Two- year- old heifer, white colour, branded on the right hoof and horn with the letters " E. M.;" value for £ 12. 5. One- year- old heifer, spotted white and yellow ; value for £ 9. 6. DESCRIPTION of Philip Kennedy ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Ganavane Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Doon, fired with a gun at one John Godfrey, with felonious intent, and being bailed to stand his trial at the Limerick Summer Assizes on the 6th July, 1886, failed to do so:— Down- looking and smart appearance, slight turn in nose, gray or blue eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inohes high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard low felt hat, dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. The person who gave the name of Andrew Cotter ( obtaining goods by false pretences), described in the Hue- and- Cry of 13th instant, has not been arrested. Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of Robert Kearney, native of Ardtrea, Cookstown, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1886, at Bogtown, in the barony of Coleraine, and parish of DunboBfc ® en a silver watch and gold chain, £ 2 10s. in mo^ Bj and a bundle of clothes, from the person of Robert John Ferguson:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, Armagh. DESCRIPTION of James Loughran, native of Clady- more, who stands charged with having, on the 31st day of July, 1886, in the barony of" Upper Fews, parish of Newtownhamilton, assaulted Owen Ferr, from the effects of which his life is in danger :— Closes his eyes when speaking to any person, dimpled cheeks, brown eyes, short nose, fair com- plexion, very stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard brown hat, gray tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest, strong laced boots; is a horse dealer, and is known in the counties of Armagh and Tyrone, attending fairs buying old horses. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 19th May, 1885. Clare. DESCRIPTION of Francis Greene, native of Carrow- more North, who stands charged with having, on the 26th July, 1886, in the barony of ibricken, and parish of Killard, threatened to shoot William Browne, and presented a loaded gun at him :— Has a black eye, swaggering gait, and generally keeps' his hands in trowsers pocket, small gray tender eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 34 years of age, saody hair; wore an old brcrtvn hard hat, gray tweed coat and trowsers, flannel vest; is a labourer. Kilrush, August 5, 18S6, ( 75683 c.— 30614). Fermanagh. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884, Galway. The two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with intimidation, have not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 13th July, 1886. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of a double- barrelled breechloading pin- fire gun, a six- chambered breechloading revolver, and a meerschaum pipe, the property of John Rattray, steward to Mr. P. Mahony, Esq., M. P., Kilmorna, which were stolen from the house of the above- named Rattray, in the townland of Kilmeany, parish of Knockanure, and barony of Irraghticonnor, on the 11th July, 1886:— 1. A double- barrelled pin- fire breechloading gun, had a hole large enough to admit a darning needle being passed through in left barrel, seven inches from muzzle ; value for £ 1 10s. 2. A six- chambered breechloading revolver, fnaker's name Welby, London, - 450 bore loaded with - 442 cartridge in five chambers, and - 450 bore cartridge in one chamber, enclosed in a brown leather case with belt attached, " Pierce Mahony " faintly marked on inside of . case with a pin ; value for £ 4- 3. A straight stemmed meerschaum pipe, amber mouthpiece, silver- mounted, well coloured ; value for 17s. 6c?. Listowel, July 18, 1886. ( 75287 c— 29979.) Kildare Thomas Brady, ( charged with murder), is in prison awaiting trial; Hue- and- Cry, 15th June, 1886. John Cassidy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry. 18th June, 1886. DESCRIPTION of John Curreen ( mother's surname Farragher), native of Cloongowla, who stands charged with having, on the 27th July, 1886, in the tarony of Kilmain, parish of Ballinrobe, seriously assaulted his father Michael Curreen, and en- dangering his life by kicking him and with having robbed him of £ 1:— Very broad squaro shoulders, hollow chest, shaved face, square jaws, long dark straight hair brushed back, determined looking, has a head like an actor or an American, short straight forehead, blue or steel gray eyes, short sharp nose, sallow complexion, athletic make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age ; probably wore a dark gray frieze coat, black trowsers, black double- breasted vest of twilled cloth ; is a farmer. \ Ballinrobe, July 31, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Edward Nevins, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 19th July, 1886, in the barony of Maryboro' East, parish of Borris, broken out of a lodging- house at Maryboro, and carried away articles ol wearing apparel, the property of John Murphy, of Abbeyleix:— Birds tattooed or arms, dark eyes, straight nose, very dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, dark worn coat, cord velvet trowscrs, light tweod vost, and toe- capped boots ; is a tramp shoemaker. The clothing consists of a velvet cord trowsers, light tweed vest, low hard hat, and a pair of toe- capped boots, all value for about 17s.; he is supposed to be wearing stolen articles. ( 75498 c.— 30288.) • DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hynes ( mother's surname Dunne), native of Morett, who stands charged with having, about Christmas, 1885, and on 4th July, 1886, in the barony ol Portnahinch, parish of Coolbanagher, indecently assaulted two children aged 8 and 10 years respectively:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, ivide nostrils, fresh freckled complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 or 30 years of age, red hair ; wore a round hard black hat, brown tweed sack make coat, trowsers and vest of same material, walks erect, and strikes his heels hard against the ground when walking ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Kennedy ( mother's surname Hayes), and Philip Tucker ( mother's surname Ryan), natives of Coumnaguillagh, who stand charged with having, on the 28th July, 1886, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Dolla, seriously assaulted Edward Cleary, of Foilnamuck :— 1. Walks erect, heavy eyebrows, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Large mouth, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark hair; wore a gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, strong laced boots ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius English and Richard English, natives of Carrowkeale , who stand charged with having, on the 24th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilnamagh Lower, parish of Donohill, struck James Gleeson with a stone, fracturing his skull. Gleeson since died from the effects of the fracture. 1. Very dark face, gray eyes, thin [ nose, very dark complexion, dark face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore an old soft hat, old dark tweed coat, old tweed trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. 2. Rather long neck,' blue eye?, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair, no hair on face except a black moustache on upper lip; wore an old dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son.
