DUBLIN, FRIDAY, JUNE 25, 1* 86. ENGLISH POLICE. ABSCONDED on the 18th ultimo, and now charged on a Warrant with embezzling £ 97, the moneys of his employers:— John Hindley, a commercial traveller, about 82 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, very full chest, round face fair com- plexion, brown hair, slight light moustache and whiskers on chin, slightly pockpitted on each side of nose, walks very erect, and wears hat on back of head ; dressed in dark tweed suit and billycock hat. May endeavour to go abroad or seek employment as a traveller at drapery establishments. He is married, and his family reside in Seacombe, Cheshire. Kindly cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places for this man, who has n jt yet left the country, and if found arrest and telegraph to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. E.," and on obverse side " H. R. H. the Prince of Wales. India. 1875 and 1876 " :— Arthur Stanlay Beech, alias Wilson, a gunner of the Lancashire Division Royal Artillery, No. 53332, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes, small finger right hand crooked, representation of " man with basket" tattooed on left forearm. STOLEN, between 12th March and 22nd April, 1886, from the Hill Pasture on the farm of tiarperstone, in the mfish of Ardoch, and county of Perth, 43 or tliei^ y blaokfaced ewes", of different ages, from two to six years, marked as follows : Hornburn, " tn " on either horn.( according to age); lugmark, nip above left lug ; buist, " as " on either side. Also stolen, between 1st March and 10th April, 1886, from the Hill Pasture on the farm of Fendoch in the parish of Crieff, and county of Perth, 27 or thereby blackfaced ewes, of different ages, marked as follows:— Lugmark, nip above right lug, nip below left lug ; horiiburn, " M " on right horn, and age figure on left horn. The whole of the ewes at both places were dipped, and all are supposed to have been in lamb, and are now likely grazing with their Iambs. Admittance had been obtained by skeleton keys, or picking one of the outside door locks, and when the thief or thieves were leaving they locked the outside doors, taking the key of the door ( they had gone out by, which they had found inside) away with them. A chisel about 8 inches long, one end of which resembles the head of a claw- hammer, which had been left behind, was found inside the premises. Police officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry at pawn shops, jewellers, and all other likely places, for the above described property. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Walsh, A 96, convicted at Kilkenny, at Michaelmas Sessions, on 9th October, 1879, for cattle stealing, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 40 years of age on convictioo, single, is a labourer, born at Mooncoin, county Kilkenny, no fixed place of residence ; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh com- plexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 7$ inches high; B. C. on left side, burn mark on inside left ankle and above left knee. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, the 8th February, 1886, and went to Waterford. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John O'Brien, A. 323, convicted in Dublin at Commission, on 6th August, 1881, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, 40 years of age on conviction, single, a labourer, born in Dublin, resided before conviction in Dublin ; gray hair, blue eyes, light- brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fair complexion, thin oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, right arm has been brokeo, and cross and " John Brien " on same, ship, " D " enclosed in lighthouse on breast, lump behind left ear, burn mark on left leg. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on Licence, 11th January, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. He has left his residence, 33, Coombe, without notifying same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Thomas Cullen ( embezzlement), uot arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. bailed to stand his trial at the present Galway Spring Assizes, tailed to do so :— Down- looking appearance, dark whiskers, recently clipped very short, gray eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft hat, dark gray frieze coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of John Morrissey ( mother's surname Daly), native of Brosna, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th instant, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Brosna, fired two shots into the dwelling- house of Hanoria Casey, with intent to kill or maim the inmates thereof:— Probably has fresh cuts or bruises on head or face, dark eyes, long sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, B feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair, heavy eyebrows, small black moustache, a returned American, speaks through his nose with a Yankee twang, may have a revolver in pocket over seat of trowsers ; wore a black sealskin cap, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a cooper. DESCRIPTION of John Cassidy, native of Sallins, who stands charged with having, on the 15th June, 1886, at Sallins, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Bodenstown, forcibly entered the stables and stores of the Grand Canal Company at Sallins, and carried away about 12 stone of potatoes, four small chickens, and ahorse clipping machine, the property of the agent of the Company, Thomas Daly :— Gray wild eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a dark tweed trowsers and cordur > y vest with sleeves; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Brady, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Clane, parish of Mainham, murdered Anne Ennis s— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark bro* n hair, and black moustache ; wore a round hard hat, tweed coat, old Royal Irish Constabulary trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp, and apparently discharged soldier or militia man. This man is remanded for examination on 17th instant; anything known of him should be communicated to the District Inspector at Robertstown. Robertstown, June 13, 1886. The man, name and native place unknown, described in the Hue- and- Ory of 9th February, 1886 ( charged with having set fire to a rick of hay), has not been arrested. Kilkenny The three persons, names and native places un- known, charged with having committed a highway robbery, and described in Hue- and- Cry of 30th of last April, have not been arrested. King's DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 21st June, 1886, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's county:— Timothy Costigan, No. 989, 17 years of age, 5 feet 7 DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, ( lark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is « uspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of a horse, the property of James Dunne, which was stolen from the lands of Wood- burn, parish of Shankill, barony of Belfast Upper, on the 3rd June, 1886:— Dark bay yearling colt, recently castrated, white spot on each hind loot, gray hairs in the tail, and walks wide with the hind legs. ( 74694 c.— 28713 ) DESCRIPTION of James Colwell ( mother's surname M'Whirter), native of Mullinsallagh, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of May, 1886, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, seriously assaulted Hugh Burnett, by striking him on the head with a spade, and thereby endangering his life :— Very sleepy looking, very heavy eyelids, holds, his head erect when speaking to any one, as if unable to raise his eyelids ; gray eyes, long sharp nose, pale complexion, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, small moustache ; wore a sealskin cap, black coat, moleskin trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a person, reputed to be John Neill, or O'Neill, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1886, in the barony of West Division East Carbery, parish ot Kilkerranmore, murdered Daniel Neill, of Knocks District, Dunmanway, Sub- District Ballygurteen, by shooting him with a revolver:— Wants forefinger of right hand, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; wore a sack- shaped dark coat, light trowsers like doeskin, check flannel shirt; is a navvy, lately on Clonakilty and Ballydehofe New Rail- way; returned American. DESCRIPTION of Robinson Gibson, native of Yorkshire, who stands charged with having, on the 19th May, 1886, in the barony of Galway, parish of St Nicholas, stolen £ 23 8s. in gold, silver, and copper, the property of Captain C. H. Cox, of the West York Regiment:— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 5i inches high, about 21 years of age, brown hair; wore a black jacket, brown trowsers, and black vest; is a private soldier of the West York Regiment, and was acting as servant to Captain Cox. DESCRIPTION of Maurice Lee, native of Dumore, county Waterford, and Patrick Johnston, native of Strokestown, county Roscommon, who stand charged with having, on the 10th day of June, 1886, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, failed to give a satisfactory account of themselves in Birr Workhouse, and it is believed they may have committed offences elsewhere « — 1. Cicatrice on right jaw, dark brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 7^ inches high, about 39 years of age, dark brown hair, dark brown moustache; wore a black soft hat, old dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is an army reserve man. 2. Gray eyos, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, gray hair, gray whiskers cut short; wore a gray tweed cap, dark brown tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest Parsonstown, June 11, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Convict James Ivers, A 421, native of Dublin, convicted 11th February, 1882, at Dublin, of larceny, from the person, with violence, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— Bum mark on right elbow, left eye dim, no hair on eyebrows or eyelids, gray eyes, flat uose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7| inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; is a labourer. This man was released on Licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 10th April, 1886, and stated his intention of residing at Tullamore, to which place he has not came, and bis present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, but who gave the name of Andrew Cotter, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of April, 1886, in the borough of Limerick, parish of Saint John's, by fraud and false pretences, obtained from one John Crowe, one sack of flour, one sack of Indian meal, and one cwt. of bran, the property of Thomas Gaffney, Esquire, J. P. ; supposed to reside in the neighbourhood of Killkishen, district of Tulla, and county clare :— Round stooped shoulders, short cocked nose, fair reddish complexion, medium make, Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 4th June, 1886, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow:— John Newsome, No. 1,961; about 16| years of age, 5 feet 2 or 5 feet 3 inches high, rather slender make, fresh, but tanned complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, long and regular nose, ordinary mouth, long visage, cut mark on forehead, and " J. N." on left arm. Formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin. His parents are dead. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, check shirt, cloth ( Scotch make) cap, strong and nailed boots, No. 1,961. The trowsers, jacket, waistcoat, and cap described above have been found, and he is supposed to have instead a double- peaked dark gray cap, a snuff- coloured corduroy trowsers, a tweed vest, and a faded cloth jacket, neither of which is branded. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1.
