ABSCONDED on tho 18th inst,, charged with stealing a gentleman s three- quarter- plate gold lever watch, No. 105683, and gold Albert chain, massive curb link pattern, stamped 18 carat, with an oval shaped gold medallion pendant attached, one side a repre- sentation of the Prince of Wales' arms, and initials " A. E.," and on obverse side " H. R. H. the Prince of Wales, India, 1875 and 1876 " :— Arthur Stanlay Beech, alias Wilson, a gunner of the Lancashire Division Royal Artillery, No. 53332, 20 years of age, 6 feet inches, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes, small finger right hand crooked, representation of " man with basket" tattooed on left forearm. COMMITTED for trial at the next Assizes, for setting fire to a corn stack, at Ruckcroft, near Penrith, James Douglas:— 42 years of age » tramp, well educated, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, scar on forehead, blue eyes, light brown moustache, light brown hair turning gray, proportionate figure; dressed in an old gray tweed jacket, black cloth waistcoat and trowsers, blue siriped cotton shirt, scotch cap, and old lace boots; supposod native of North of Ireland; states that he served 3 years in the Federal cavalry, and that his father was a Doctor of Medicine in Glasgow. On the 15th June, 1885, he was committed a* Thurles, Ireland, for 1 month for deserting from the Carnarvon Militia. On the 30th July, 1885, he was committed to prison for 48 hours at Limerick, for throwing a stone through a window because he was refused a ticket to the Workhouse. In August, 1885, he was committed to Dundalk Prison for 14 days, for assaulting the Workhouse Master at Castleblayney ; and on the 13th November, 1885, he was committed to Preston Prison for 14 days, for non- payment of steamboat faro at Fleetwood. Dressed respectably, may be wear- ing a brown hat, round scarf pin with circle of pearls, a gold chain with Chinese coin pierced in centre attached. Is well known to captains of American ships, and may be found in their company. WANTED at Inverness, on a charge of embezzle- ment, Alexander Simpson, native of Inverness, lately Grocer and Accountant there :— About 65 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair ( white), gray whiskers ( white) all round, blue eyes ; generally dressed in a dark coat and vest, dark gray trowsers, dark overcoat, and satin hat, well dressed, and of respectable appearance ; walks erect, and has a plow step. The accused was Clerk and Treasurer to the Trustees of the Mackintosh Farr Fund, and is charged with embezzling largo sums of money belonging to that fund. He left Inverness about 5 weeks ago, and went to London, but may endeavour to leave the country. A Sheriff's Warrant has been granted lor his apprehension. Police officers are requested to make every search and inquiry for the accused at shipping offices and at outward- bound vessels. If found, apprehend and detain, and wire to the Procurator- Fiscal or Chief Constable, the Castle, Inverness, when he will be sent for. If any trace is obtained of him, com- municate with A. Wanted here, on a Sheriff's warrant, for embezzle- ment of £ 140, being the proceeds of a Bankrupt's Estate, on which accused acted as Trustee :— Angus M. Campbell, an accountant, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark com- plexion, dark hair, slight dark side whiskers, no moustache, shaved on chin, brown eyes; dressed ( supposed) in a light checked tweed suit, green or slate coloured overcoat, and square- crowned black felt hat. Is a native of Lochfyneside, Argyleshire, and speaks with a Highland accent. Accused, who absconded on the 11th instant, had an office at 176£, Hope- street, here, and resided at 173, West Graham- street. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, ship- ping offices, and all other likely places, and should he be found, arrest, and communicate with A. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Walsh, A 96, convicted at Kilkenny City, at Michaelmass Sessions, on 9th October, 1879, for cattle stealing, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 40 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Mount Coia, county Kilkefibf,* fio fixed placo Of residence ; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh com- plexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 7£ inches high; B. C. on left side, burn mark on inside left ankle, small burn mark on inside left leg above knee. This man was released from Maryborough Prison, 8th February, 1886, on Licence, and went to ( Waterford on the 15th ult., he reported to the R. I. C. at Clonmel that he was leaving for Cashel, where, up to the present, he has not reported him- self, and his whereabouts is unknown. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Frederick Benson, A333, convicted in Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 12th October, 1881, for assault and bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a painter; born in Dublin, resided before conviction in South King- street, Dublin ; brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high; cut scar right side of head, anchor on left forearm. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 8th December, 1885, on licence, and went to reside at 111, Bride- street, Dublin. He left his residence without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee Patrick O'Donald, alias Hugh Lapping, convicted at Sal ford, county Lancaster, at Sessions, on 7 July, 1884, for stealing a coat after a prior conviction, and sentenced to 15 calendar months and 5 years police supervision : 24 years of age on conviction, single, is a plasterer, born in Glasgow, resided before con- viction at 27, Gun- street, Manchester :— Brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 3 inches high ; burn marks on left fore- arm. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for tho Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tingod with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Sexton, native of Mount- scott, who stands charged with having, on the lst December, 1885, in the barony of Ibrickane, parish of Kilfarboy, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by striking him on the head with a stone, from the effects of which his life is now in danger :— A. well- built hardy man, sullen down looking appearance, gray eyes, long nose, yellow swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown hat, faded whitish tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a small farmer and cattle dealer. J. C." ; maker, Ryan, Limerick ; supposed stolen by a man who gave the name of Thomas Ryan ( described below), and who worked for James Clune from the 15th to the 18th March, 1886. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Greene, native of Mace ( Carna), who stands charged with having, on the 9th January, 1886, in the barony of Ballynahincb, parish of Moyrus, seriously assaulted John Corbett, by striking him with a stone on the head, and being bailed to stand his trial at the present Galway Spring Assizes, failed to do so :— Down- looking appearance, dark whiskers, recently clipped very short, gray eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft hat, dark gray frieze coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of John Morrissey ( mother's surname Daly), native of Brosna, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th instant, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Brosna, fired two shots into the dwelling- house of Hanoria Casey, with intent to kill or maim the inmates thereof:— Probably has fresh cuts or bruises on head or face, dark eyes, long sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high,- about 80 years of age, black hair, heavy eyebrows, small black moustache, a returned American, speaks through his nose with a Yankee twang, may have a revolver in pocket over seat of trowsers ; wore a black sealskin cap, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a cooper. DESCRIPTION of James Colwell ( mother's surname M'Whirter), native of Mullinsallagh, who stands charged with having, on the 15 th day of May, 1886, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, seriously assaulted Hugh Burnett, by striking him on the head with a spade, and thereby endangering his life :— Very sleepy looking, very heavy eyelids, holds his head erect when speaking to any one, as if unable to raise his eyelids ; gray eyes, long sharp nose, pale complexion, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, small moustache ; wore a sealskin cap, black coat, moleskin trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. Joseph Carlisle, 17 years of age, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, prominent mouth, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; bora at Belfast; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 15, Barrow- streat, Belfast; sister also residing in Leper- street, Belfast; scar on left side of neck, blue dot between thumb and fore- finger of right hand. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded— Moleskin jacket, moleskin trowsers and blue dongares ovcrsuit, moleskin vest cloth Glengarry cip, blue striped shirt, red and black tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will dofray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Arthur Tilbey, says he is from London, who has been returned for trial to Newry Quarter Sessions of 29th June next, charged with having, on the 22nd April, 1886, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Clonallon, obtained money under false pretences, by representing himself as an agent of the Loyal and Patriotic Union :— Smart active appearance, well set- up, swaggering gait, looks as if he had served in the army ; has a sere mark on left cheek, near corner of eye ; speaks quickly, with strong English accent; wears small side whiskers, moustache, and imperial which are fair; large gray eyes, hooked nose, fresh complexion, bloated face, very stout make, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 36 or 37 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a round black hat, worsted coat, tweed trowsers, worsted vest ( all much worn). DESCRIPTION of three persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 21th April, 1886, in the barony of Shillelogher, parish of St. Patrick's, robbed Catherine Braithwaite, on public road, of two £ 1 bank of Ireland notes, 2d. in coppers, and three dozen clay pipes:— 1. Dark complexion, dirty looking face, medium make, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age; wore an old soft black hat, old and worn gray coat, dark trousers and vest; supposed tramp. 2. This man was released on Licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 10th April, 1886, and stated his intention of residing at Tullamore, to which place he has not catne, and his present whereabouts is unknown. P. ; supposed to reside in the neighbourhood of Killkishen, district of Tulla, and county Clare :— Round stooped shoulders, short cocked nose, fair reddish complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, between 40 and 50 years of age, sandy hair and whiskers all round face ; wore a gray frieze coat; appeared to be a countryman.
