WANTED at Inverness, on a charge of embezzle- ment, Alexander Simpson, native of Inverness, lately Grocer and Accountant there :— About 65 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair ( white), gray whiskers ( white) all round, blue eyes ; generally dressed in a dark coat and vest, dark gray trowsers, dark overcoat, and satin hat, well and of respectable appearance ; walks erect, - WM^^^^ a slow step. accused was Clerk and Treasurer to the Trustees of the Mackintosh Farr Fund, and is charged with embezzling large sums of money belonging to that fund. He left Inverness ab - t 5 weeks ago, and went to London, but may endeavour to leave the country. A Sheriff's Warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Police officers are requested to make every search and inquiry for the accused at shipping offices and at outward- bound vessels. If found,' apprehend and detain, and wire to the Procurator- Fiscal or Chief Constable, the Castle, Inverness, when he will be sent for. If any trace is obtained of him, com- municate with A. WANTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of £ 109 5s., received by him yesterday, on behalf of his employer, James Sinclair, Stock Broker, 88, St. Vincent- street, here, and with which he the same evening absconded:—' Charles M'Nab, a clerk, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, dark complexion, thin face, slightly squint of left eye, scar on right side of neck; dressed in a black cord jacket, dark tweed trowsers with blue stripe through them, black felt hat, and lacing boots. Wanted here, on a Sheriff's warrant, for embezzle- ment of £ 140, being the proceeds of a Bankrupt's Estate, on which accused acted as Trustee :— Angus M. Campbell, an accountant, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark com- plexion, dark hair, slight dark side whiskers, no moustache, shaved on chin, brown eyes; dressed ( supposed) in a light checked tweed suit, green or slate coloured overcoat, and square- crowned black felt hat. Is a native of Lochfyneside, Argyleshire, and speaks with a Highland accent. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Frederick Benson, A333, convicted in Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 12th October, 1881, for assault and bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a painter; born in DubliD, resided before conviction in South King- street, Dttblin ; brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high; cut scar right side of head, anchor on left forearm. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 8th December, 1885, on licence, and went to reside at 111, Bride- street, Dnblin. He left his residence without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. ( 32217 M 60134.1 PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Herbert, A 64, convicted at Newry, county Down, at the Summer Assizes, on the 3rd July, 1879, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age, single, is a labourer, born at Monkstown, county Dublin, his friends reside at Rathmines; light brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, sandy complexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; dot between forefinger and thumb, both hands. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 2nd January, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. He reported himself to the Police on same date, and said he had no settled place of residence, but when he had procured one he would inform them. He has not done so up to the present, and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the Act 34 & 35 Vic., section 5, cap. 112. January 18, 1886. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391 lis. 10d. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 6th March, 1886, Absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Wm. Joseph Carlisle, 17 years of age, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, prominent mouth, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 15, Barrow- street, Belfast; sister also residing in Leper- street, Belfast; scar on left side of neck, blue dot between thumb and fore- finger of right hand. Description of the ass :—• A mare ass, 5 years old, light brown colour, very fat and swift, very short tail, fresh scrape or cut over right eye, had on three worn shoes, no shoe on off hind foot; value for £ 4. DESCRIPTION of Arthur Tilbey. says he is from London, who has been returned for trial to Newry Quarter Sessions of 29th June next, charged with having, on the 22nd April, 1886, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Clonallon, obtained money under false pretences, by representing himself as an agent of the Loyal and Patriotic Union :— Smart active appearance, well set- up, swaggering gait, looks as if he had served in the army; has a sore mark on left cheek, near corner of eye ; speaks quickly, - with strong Engli- h accent; wears small side whiskers, moustache, and imperial which are fair; lrrge gray eyes, hooked nose, fresh complexion, bloated face, very stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 36 or 37 years of age, rather fair hair ; wore a round black hat, worsted coat, tweed trowsers, worsted vest ( all much worn). DESCRIPTION of the property of Mrs. Hannah Mathews, which was stolen from her house, Rich- mond- road, in the parish of Clonturk, barony of Coolock, by some person or persons unknown, on the night of the 26th or morning of the 27th March, 1886 :— A large silver bread- basket, with crest ( lamb and banner) on handle ; a silver horse- shoe brooch, with cap and hunting- whip cut thereon ; a small gold brooch, shaped like a vine leaf; a silver brooch, shaped like a violin ; a silver plated pen and pencil- case ; a pair of double white blankets; three gentle- man's neckties, a white calico and a dark blue silk, in which was inserted a gold breast- pin, with yellow hair in it; two pairs of ladies' boots, laced; a lady's mackintosh, black, value about 16s.; a small penknife; a white linen shirt; and a quantity of fair hair, rolled in tissue paper. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Greene, native of Mace ( Carna), who stands charged with having, on the 9th Jar. uary, 1886, in the barony of Ballynahincb, parish of Moyrus, seriously assaulted John Corbett, by striking him with a stone on the head, and being bailrtd to stand his trial at the present Galway Spring Assizes, tailed to do so :— Down looking appearance, dark whiskers, recently clipped very sliotJt, gray eyes, ordinary r. ose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a black soft hat, dark gray frieze coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son.
