Prison nnd Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, ifco., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 1886. ENGLISH POLICE. STOLEN on 13th April, 188G, by means of bur- glary, at Kiluwick, Percy Mansion, the seat of Admiral the Hon. A. Duncombe :— A silver gilt ink- stand, a handle at each end, about 13 inches long, inches wide, a taper- stand in centre and 2 candlesticks, about 8 inches high, a pea- tray in the front, 2 glass globes for ink ( left in room), silver- gilt tops. 4 silver- gilt candlesticks, 15 inches high, circular bottoms, a steel plate underneath each, with inscription and " March 13, 1877," engraved thereon. Silver- gilt articles:— 20 dessert spoons, 20 dessert forks ( agate handles), 8 serving spoons, 4 small spoons, 1 cream ladle, I sugar ladle, 1 pair of grape scissors, 5 - wine labels, 20 dessert knives ( silver handles), y . ll the above have crest:— Crown, horse's hind log in t. io , n', re, shoe upwards. WANTED hi,/ e on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of £ 109 5 « , received by him yesterday, on behalf of his employer, James Sinclair, Stock Broker, 88, St. Vincent- street, here, and with which he the same evening absconded :— Charles M'Nab, a clerk, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, dark complexion, thin face, slightly squint of left eyo, scar on right side of neck; dressed in a black cord jacket, dark tweed trowsers with blue stripe through them, black folt hat, and lacing boots. Resided with his parents at 24, Albert Drive, Cross- hill, near Glasgow. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for accused at shipping, shipping offices, and all other likely places, and should he be found, arrest and communicate with A. Wanted here, on a Sheriff's warrant, for embezzle- ment of £ 140, being the proceeds of a Bankrupt's Estate, on which accused acted as Trustee :— Angus M. Campbell, an accountant, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark com- plexion, dark hair, slight dark side whiskers, no moustacho, shaved on chin, brown eyes; dressed ( supposed) in a light checked tweed suit, green or slate coloured overcoat, and square- crowned black felt hat. Is a native of Lochfyneside, Argyleshire-, and speaks with a Highland accent. Accused, who absconded on the 11th instant, had an office at 176£, Hope- street, here, and resided at 1? 3, West Graham- street. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, ship- ping offices, and all other likely places, and should he be found, arrest, and communicate with A. PARTICULARS relative to Convict James Henchy, who is missing from Lusk Prison, where he was last seen, about 8.30 A. M., on the 19th April, 1886, con- victed at Dublin City Commission, 6th June, 1882, for robbery with violence, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, reckoned from 2nd June, 1882 :— 20 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, a labourer, prison trade blacksmith, resided before conviction in Dublin, his friends reside at 2, Mullinahack, off New- row, Dublin; dark hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eye- brows, small broken nose, large mouth, fair com- plexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 4£ inches high, faded tattooing marks on right forearm. Notice.— A reward of from £ 3 to £ 5 may be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up a convict who shall have effected his escape from a Government Prison. By Act 19th and 20th Vic., cap. 68, sec. 32, it is provided that any person who shall by any means whatever aid and assist any prisoner to escape, or in attempting to escape, shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof, shall be kept in penal servi- tude for any term not less than 6 nor more than 8 years. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Frederick Benson, A333, convicted in Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 12th October, 1881, for assault and bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a painter; born in Dublin, resided before conviction in South King- street, Dublin ; brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, small nose, medium mouth, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 1- J inches high ; cut scar right side of head, anchor on left forearm. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 8th December, 1885, on licence, and went to reside at 111, Bride- street, Dnblin. He left his residence without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 84 A 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, April 19,1885. ( 83249 M.— 60360.) PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee Patrick O'Donald, aliaS Hugh Lapping, convicted at Salford, county Lancaster, at Sessions, on 7 July, 1884, for stealing a coat after a prior conviction, and sentenced to 15 calendar months and 5 years police supervision ; 24 years of age on conviction, single, is a plasterer, born in Glasgow, resided before con- viction at 27, Gun- street, Manchester :— Brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 6 feet 3 inches high ; burn marks on left fore- arm. This supervisee was discharged from Knutsford Prison on 6th October, 1885, and went to reside at 5, Millfield- place, Belfast, which plage he left on or about the 1st instant, and is supposed to have gone to Liverpool. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Herbert, A 64, convicted at Newry, county Down, at the Summer Assizes, on the 3rd July, 1879, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age, single, is a labourer, born at Monkstown, county Dublin, his friends reside at Rathmines; light brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, sandy complexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; dot between forefinger and thumb, both hands. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 2nd January, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. He reported himself to the Police on same date, and said he had no settled place of residence, but when he had procured one he would inform them. He has not done so up to the present, and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the Act 34 & 35 Vic., section 5, cap. 112. i January 18, 1886. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391 lis. lOrf. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, G Division, September 3, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. Convict, James Schriber, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 19th January last, has not been arrested. English convict, Margaret Ryan, described in Hue- and- Cry of 1st of January last, has not been arrested. Convict William M'Manus ( failing to report him- self), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th December, 1885. Convict James Hearty, described in Hue- and- Cry of 8th of last month, has not been arrested. Antrim- DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on tho 6th March, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Wm. Joseph Carlisle, 17 years of age, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, prominent mouth, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 15, Barrow- street, Belfast; sister also residing in Leper- street, Belfast; scar on left side of neck, blue dot between thumb and fore- finger of right hand. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded— Moleskin jacket, moleskin trowsers and blue dongares oversuit, moleskin vest, cloth Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of John Christy, native of Cartall, who stands charged with having, on the 5th ol February, 1886, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Ballylinny, threatened to shoot John Chisolm, of same place:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair curly hair ; wore a hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a licensed publican. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Sexton, native of Mount- scott, who stands charged with having, on the 1st December, 1886, in the barony of Ibrickane, parish of Kilfarboy, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by striking him on the head with a stone, from the cffects of which his life is now in danger :— A well- built hardy man, sullen down looking appearance, gray eyes, long nose, yellow swarthy complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown hat, faded whitish tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a small farmer and cattle dealer. DESCRIPTION of a watch, stolen from the dwelling, house of James Clune, of Capparoe, parish of Tomgraney, and barony of Tulla Upper, between tho 15th and 18th March, 1886 :— Silver Geneva Watch, No. 43,496, initialled on back " M. J. C."; makor, Ryan, Limerick ; supposed stolen by a man who gave the name of Thomas Ryan ( described below), and who worked for James Clune from the 15th to the 18th March, 1886. Noso much turned up, sallow complexion, black hair, about 5 feet high, no whiskers, about 18 years of age, dressed in a black coat, and wore a cap. Killaloe, March 29, 1886. ( 73035 c.— 26847.) Cork. DESCRIPTION of a donkey and car, the property of William Murphy, which were stolen from his house at Cowhill, parish of Knockavilly, barony of East Muskerry, on the night of the 15th or morning of the lGth instant:— A brown he ass, shod on off fore foot, mark of draught on left thigh:— A small light car with side boards, faded red paint, portion of the tail board broken off, draughts fastened to staple in shaft by a bit of stick, supposed stolen by tramps, Hallesy and Sullivan, known to the police here. DESCRIPTION of a person, reputed to be John Neill, or O'Neill, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1886, in the barony of West Division East Carbery, parish of Kilkerranmore, murdered Daniel Neill, of Knocks District, Dunmanway, Sub- District Ballygurteen, by shooting him with a revolver:— Wants forefinger of right hand, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet C inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; wore a sack- shaped dark coat, light trowsers like doeskin, check flannel shirt; is a navvy, lately on Clonakilty and Ballydehob New Rail- way; returned American. DESCRIPTION of Timothy Buckley, native of Caher- barule, who stands charged with having, on the 1st February, 1886, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Aghabollogue, committed a rape:— Bow- legged, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, brown hair; wore a two- peaked cap, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant boy. ( 72858 c.— 25403.) • Patrick Quinn ( charged with having been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of several persons and demanded arms and money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 4th December, 1885. DESCRIPTION of the property of Mrs. Hannah Mathews, which was stolen from her house, Rich- mond- road, in the parish of Clonturk, barony of Coolock, by some person or persons unknown, on the night of the 26th or morning of the 27th March, 1886 :— A large silver bread- basket, with crest ( lamb and banner) on handle ; a silver horse- shoe brooch, with cap and hunting- whip cut thereon; a small gold brooch, shaped like a vine leaf; a silver brooch, shaped like a violin ; a silver plated pen and pencil- case ; a pair of double white blankets ; three gentle- man's neckties, a white calico and a dark blue silk, in which was inserted a gold breast- pin, with yellow hair in it; two pairs of ladies' boots, laced: a lady's mackintosh, black, value about 16s.; a small penknife; a white linen shirt; and a quantity of fair hair, rolled in tissue paper. Fogarty's shop, situate in Shop- street, Galway, which was forcibly entered on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd instant:— Four silver Geneva watches, lady's size, numbered 24,513, 24,514, 245,400, 245,586, value £ 2 each ; a gentle- man's silver lever watch, centre second, No. 47,076, value about £ 8 : a silver gilt bracelet, value £ 1 17s.; a silver and pebble bracelet, value £ 2; a silver and inlaid Connamara marble bracelet, value £ 1 12s.; four silver bracelets, value 9s. 6d. each; five pocket, penkives, James Barber, maker, value Is. 6d. each. DESCRIPTION of articles, the property of William George Edmonds, which were stolen from his dwell- ing- house, 2, Charlemont- terrace, Marino, in the parish of Clontarf, barony of Coolock, on the night of 8th or morning of 9th March, 1886, by some persons unknown :— A marble clock, non- striking, from which a brass presentation plate, [ yic'HCl ifoflge^ by three fourths of an inch, has been wrenched ; a brass card- tray, figured with two cards; two small pictures of water scenery, in frames ; a prayer- book, with brown cover, and two brass clasps, and inscrip- tion on inner cover, " B. M'Kittrick black cloth topcoat, braided, and velvet collar; a pair of dog- skin gloves, with brass buttons, and red stitching inside, a small brass magnifying- glass with three legs and screw top ; a small Chinese bowl; a green table- cloth, with black flowering; a photographic album, with puce cover, containing several photo- graphs ; several books not describable. DESCRIPTION of John Morrissey ( mother's surname Daly), native of Brosna, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th instant, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Brosna, fired two shots into the dwelling- house of Hanoria Casey, with intent to kill or maim the inmates thereof:— Probably has fresli cuts or bruises on head or face, dark eyes, long sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair, heavy eyebrows, small black moustache, a returned American, speaks through his nose with a Yankee twang, may have a revolver in pocket over seat of trowsers ; wore a black sealskin cap, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a cooper. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Connor, native of Curra- vaha, Glencar, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of March, 1886, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Kenmare, pointed a gun at one Denis Sullivan, gamekeeper:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full, clean face, stout active make, 5 feet 7£ inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair ; wore a brown plaid tweed trowsers ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Smith, native of London, who stands charged with having, on the llth February, 1886, in the barony of Uppercross, parish of Tallaght, robbed Edward Rafter, of Castlekelly, farmer, of a purse containing one five pound note, two pounds in gold, and about seventeen shillings and sixpence in silver:— Very large eyes, foolish looking, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight or medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, growing very thin on face ; wore an old soft hat, three small buttons on side, old black cloth coat, moleskin trowsers patched on knees with corduroy, and tweed vest; is a labourer, and sup- posed deserter from Army. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Greene, native of Mace ( Carna), who stands charged with having, on the 9th January, 1886, in the barony of Ballynahinch, parish of Moyrus, seriously assaulted John Corbett, by striking him with a stone on the head, and being bailed to stand his trial at the present Galway Spring Assizes, failed to do so:— Down- looking appearance, dark whijkers, recently clipped very short, gray eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft hat, dark gray frieze coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. He will endeavour to emigrate to America, and it is believed he may have already done so. Warrant ordered for his arrest. Roundstone, March 19,1886. ( 72603 c.— 26584.) DESCRIPTION of John Allman, Native of Keeloclo- ' pvin^. on the 6tb March, 1886, in the b,> 5> ny of trughenackmy, parish of Kilcoleman, fired a shot at tfie dwelling- house of one Darby Clifford, to the terror of the inmates thereof:— Down- looking appearance, round shoulders, holds his head down when walking, generally keeps his hands in his pockets when walking, blue or gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion/ Jong thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abqut 22 years of age, dark brown hair, wore a soft dark. hat, reddish- gray sack coat, tweed trousers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Healy, native of Fehanagh, who stands charged with having, on the 14th February, 1886, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Tuosist, struck one Jeremiah Shea, with a stone on the head, thereby placing his life in danger:— Awkward gait, gray or blue eyes, thick nose, florid complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft wide awake hat, brown tweed coat, gray flannel trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Daniel Sullivan ( charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th November, 1885. Kildare, DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th February, 1886, in the barony of North Salt, parish of Taghadoe, set fire to a rick of hay the property of Miss Rickards, of Corbally:— Dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair, chin shaved, wore side whiskers; wore a soft jerry hat, dark worn coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. This man's arrest is very important; he usually works for farmers in counties of Galway, Tipperary, and Waterford. Warrant issued for his arrest. Parsonstown, April 8, 1886. ( 73591 c.— 27127.) P. ; siw> posed to reside in the neighbourhood of Killkishen nf district of Tulla, and county Clare :— Round stooped shoulders, short cocked nose, fair reddish complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high', between 40 and 50 years of age, sandy hair and whiskers all round face; wore a gray frieze coat; appeared to be a countryman.
