JJT All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to he transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is / Hot necessary1 to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. * » * Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give tne number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, XlAtioiiK, , and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Ory" no longer necessary. Gave the name Frederick Stevenson; 27 years of ago, 5 feet 7 inches high, swarthy com- plexion, dark brown liair, dark blue eyes, pock- pitted, throws his feet out when walking; horse dealer; stated he is a native of Birmingham. WANTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of £ 109 5s., received bv him yesterday, on behalf of his employer, James Sinclair, Stock Broker, 88, St. Vincent- street, here, and with which he the same evening absconded:— Charles M'Nab, a clerk, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, dark complexion, thin face, slightly squint of left eye, scar on right side of neck; dressed in a black cord jacket, dark tweod trowscrs with blue stripe through them, black felt hat, and lacing boots. Resided with his parents at, 24, Albert Drive, Cross- hill, near Glasgow. Police Officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for accused at shipping, shipping offices, and all other likely places, and should he bo found, arrest and communicate with A. Wanted here, on a Sheriff's warrant, for embezzle- ment of £ 11(), being the proceeds of a Bankrupt's Estate, on which accused acted as Trustee :— Angus M. Campbell, an accountant, ab > ut 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout make, dark com- plexion, dark hair, slight dark side whiskers, no moustache, shaved on chin, brown eyes; dressed ( supposed) in a light checked tweed suit, green or slate coloured overcoat, and square- crowned black felt hat. Is a native of L ichfyneside, Argyleshire, and speaks with a Highland acceut. • bAccused, who absconded on the 11th instant, had ^ Wffice at 176^, Hope- street, here, and resided at 173, West Graham- street. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, ship- ping offices, and all other likely places, and should he be found, arrest, and communicate with A. PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee Patrick O'Donald, alias Hugh Lapping, convicted at Salford, county Lancaster, at Sessions, on 7 July, 1884, for stealing a coat after a prior conviction, and sentenced to 15 calendar months and 5 years police supervision : 24 years of age on conviction, single, is a plasterer, born in Glasgow, resided before con- viction at 27, Gun- street, Manchester :— Brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, { r feet 3 inches high ; bum mapks; qji i^ ft/ ojre- arm. , _'* This supervisee was discharged from' Knutsford Prison on 6th October, 1885, and went to reside at 5, Millfield- place, Belfast, which place ho left on or about the lst instant, and is supposed to have gone to Liverpool. ( 32217 m.— 60134.1 PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Herbert, A 64, convicted at Newry, county Down, at the Summer Assizes, on the 3rd July, 1879, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age, single, is a labourer, bom at Monkstown, county Dublin, his friends reside at Rathmines; light brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, sandy complexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; dot between forefinger and thumb, both hands. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 2nd January, 1886, and went to reside in Dublin. He reported himself to the Police on same date, and said he had no settled place of residence, but when he had procured one he would inform them. He has not done so up to the present, and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the Ac+, 34 & 35 Vic., section 5, cap. 112. January 18, 1886. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391 lis 10d. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 leet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, G Division, September 3, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above ease the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 6th March, 1886, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Win. Joseph Carlisle, 17 years of age, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, prominent mouth, fresh complexion, long visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; born at Belfast; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 15, Barrow- street, Belfast; sister also residing in Leper- street, Belfast; scar on left side of neck, blue dot between thumb and fore- finger of right hand. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded— Moleskin jacket, moleskin trowsers and blue dongares oversuit, moleskin vest, cloth Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Sexton, native of Mount- scott, who stands charged with having, on the 1st December, 1885, in the barony of Ibrickane, parish of Kilfarboy, seriously assaulted John O'Neill, by striking him on the head with a stone, from the cffects of which his life is now in danger:— A well- built hardy man, sullen down looking appearance, gray eyes, loDg nose, yellow swarthy complexion, long faco, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown hat, faded whitish tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a small farmer and cattle dealer. DESCRIPTION of a watch, stolen from the dwelling- house of James Clune, of Capparoe, parish of Tomgraney, and barony of Tulla Upper, between the 15th and 18tb March, 1886 Silver Geneva Watch, No. 43,496, initialled on back " M. J. C."; maker, Ryan, Limerick ; supposed stolen by a man who gave the name of Thomas Ryan ( described below), and who worked for James Clune from the 15th to the 18th March, 1886. Nose much turned up, sallow complexion, black hair, about 5 feet high, no whiskers, about 18 years of age, dressed in a black coat, and wore a cap. Killaloe, March 29, 1886. ( 73635 c.— 26847.) DESCRIPTION of a grayhound, the property of John Hayes, which was stolen from his father's bouse at Kilbane, parish of Killokennedy, barony of Tulla, Lower, on the night of the 6th March, 1886 :— A female grayhound, pale red colour, white circle round the neck, white spot on forehead, breast, legs, and top of tail white, about 5 months old; value for about £ 1, Killaloe, Mar. 18, 1886. ( 73473 o.— 26526.) Cork. DESCRIPTION of a person, reputed to be Jobn Neill, or O'Neill, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd. April, 1886, in the barony of West Division East Carbery, parish of Kilkerranmore, murdered Daniel Neill, of Knocks District, Dunmanway, Sub- District Ballygurteen, by shooting him with a revolver:— Wants forefinger of right hand, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; wore a sack- shaped dark coat, light trowsers like doeskin, check flannel shirt; is a navvy, lately on Clonakilty and Ballydehob New Rail- way ; returned American. DESCRIPTION of Timothy Buckley, native of Caher- barule, who stands charged with having, on the 1st February, 1886, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Aghabollogue, committed a rape:— Bow- legged, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of ago, brown hair; wore a two- peaked cap, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant boy. Patrick Quinn ( charged with having been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of several persons and demanded arms and money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 4th December, 1885. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of the property of Mrs. Hannah Mathews, which was stolen from her house, Rich- mond- road, in the parish of Clonturk, barony of Coolock, by some person or persons unknown, on the night of the 26th or morning of the 27th March, 1886 :•— A large silver bread- basket, with crest ( lamb and banner) on handle ; a silver horse- shoe brooch, with cap and hunting- whip cut thereon; a small gold brooch, shaped like a vine leaf; a silver brooch, shaped like a violin ; a silver plated pen and pencil- case ; a pair of double white blankets; three gentle- man's neckties, a white calico and a dark blue silk, in which was inserted a gold breast- pin, with yellow hair in it; two pairs of ladies' boots, laced; a lady's mackintosh, black, value about 16s.; a small penknife; a white linen shirt; and a quantity of fair hair, rolled in tissue paper. DESCRIPTION of articles, the property of William George Edmonds, which were stolen from his dwell- ing- house, 2, Charlemont- terrace, Marino, in the parish of Clontarf, barony of Coolock, on the night of 8tli or morning of 9th March, 1886, by some persons unknown:— A marble clock, non- striking, from which a brass presentation plate, three inches by three- fourths of an inch, has been wrenched ; a brass card- tray, figured with two cards; two small pictures of water scenery, in frames ; a prayer- book, with brown cover, and two brass clasps, and inscrip- tion on inner cover, " B. M'Kittrick"; a black cloth topcoat, braided, and velvet collar; a pair of dog- skin gloves, with brass buttons, and red stitching inside, a small brass magnifying- glass with three legs and screw top; a small Chinese bowl; a green table- cloth, with black flowering; a photographic album, with puce cover, containing several photo] graphs ; several books not describable. DESCRIPTION of James Smith, native of London, who stands charged with having, on the 11th February, 1886, in the barony of Uppercross, parish of Tallaght, robbed Edward Rafter, of Castlekelly, farmer, of a purse containing one five pound note, two pounds in gold, and about seventeen shillings and sixpence in silver:— Very large eyes, foolish looking, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight or medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, growing very thin on face ; wore an old soft bat, three small buttons on side, old black cloth coat, moleskin trowsers patched on knees with corduroy, and tweed vest; is a labourer, and sup- posed deserter from Army. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Greene, native of Mace ( Carna), who stands charged with having, on the 9th January, 1886, in the barony of Ballynahincb, parish of Moyrus, seriously assaulted John Corbett, by striking him with a stone on the head, and being bailed to stand his trial at the present Galway Spring Assizes, failed to do so :— Down looking appearance, dark whiskers, recently clipped very short, gray eyes, ordinary rose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft hat, dark gray frieze coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. He will endeavour to emigrate to America, and it is believed he may have already done so. Warrant ordered for his arrest. Roundstone, March 19,1886. ( 72603 c.— 26584.) Fogarty's shop, situate in Shop- street, Galway, which was forcibly entered on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd instant:— Four silver Geneva watches, lady's size, numbered 24,513, 24,514, 245,400, 245,586, value £ 2 each ; a gentle- man's silver lever watch, centre second, No. 47,076, value about £ 8 : a silver gilt bracelet, value £ 1 17s.; a silver and pebble bracelet, value £ 2; a silver and inlaid Connamara marble bracelet, value £ 1 12s.; four silver bracelets, value 9s. 6d. each; five pocket penkives, James Barber, maker, value Is. 6d. each. DESCRIPTION of John Morrissey ( mother's surname Daly), native of Brosna, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th instant, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Brosna, fired two shots into the dwelling- house of Hanoria Casey, with intent to kill or maim the inmates thereof:— Probably has fresli cuts or bruises on head or face, dark eyes, long sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair, heavy eyebrows, small black moustache, a returned American, speaks through his nose with a Yankee twang, may have a revolver in pocket over seat of trowsers ; wore a black sealskin cap, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a cooper. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Connor, native of Curra- vaha, Glencar, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of March, 1886, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Kenmare, pointed a gun ai one Denis Sullivan, gamekeeper:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full clean face, stout active make, 5 feet inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown plaid tweed trowsers ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Allman, native of Keel< Mk>- hane, who stands charged with having, on the Wh March, 1886, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Kilcoleman, fired a shot at the dwelling- house of one Darby Clifford, to the terror of the inmates thereof:— Down- looking appearance, round shoulders, holds his head down when walking, generally keeps his hands in his pockets when walking, blue or gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, long thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair, wore a soft dark hat, reddish- gray sack coat, tweed trousers, and vest; is a labourer- Killorglin, March 15,1886. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Healy, native of Fehanagh, who stands charged with having, on the 14th February, 1886, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Tuosist, struck one Jeremiah Shea, with a stone on the bead, thereby placing his life in danger :— Awkward gait, gray or blue eyes, thick nose, florid complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft wide awake hat, brown tweed coat, gray flannel trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Daniel Sullivan ( charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th November, 1885. Kildare DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th February, 1886, in the barony of North Salt,, parish of Taghadoe, set fire to a rick of hay the property of Miss Rickards, of Corbally:— Dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair, chin shaved, wore side whiskers; wore a soft jerry hat, dark worn coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. Naas, February 6, 1886. ( 72887 c.— 25451.) King's DESCRIPTION of Edward Whelah, alias Tho Connell, of no fixed place, who stands charged having, on the 24th March, 1886, in the barony of Bally- britt, parish of Birr, been concerned as an accessory in the murder of Catherine Dunne:— Under lashes of eyes tender and red, bald on the front of head, and looks like an army pensioner, long nose, pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair, turning gray, dark whiskers and moustache, turning gray; wore a faded soft black hat, bright tweed coat, and dark tweed trowsers. This man's arrest is very important; he usually works for farmers in counties of Galway, Tipperary, and Waterford. Warrant issued for his arrest Parsonstown, April 8, 1886. ( 73591 c.— 27127.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Morrow, native of Cooladrummon, Drumcliffe, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 13th April, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumlease, seriously assaulted John M'Cann by fracturing bis skull with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger:— Dark eyes, large nose, yellow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. DESCRIPTION of Peter Joseph Rooney, native of Glenade, who stands charged with having, on the 12th December, 1885, and on subsequent dates, in the barony of Dromahaire, parish of Cloonclare, obtained several sums of money from one Thomas Loughlin, and others, by means of false pretences:—. Large dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark curly hair ; wore a two- peaked cap, and dark clothes; drives a post car through the country, and represents himself as a tea traveller, offers tea and sugar at very low prices, and obtains some money, promising to send the goods. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native ybgt unknown, but who gave the name of Andrew C who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of April, 1886, in the borough of Limerick, parish of Saint John's, by fraud and false pretences, obtained THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, APRIL 16, 1886. from one John Crowe, one sack of flour, one sack of Indian meal, and one cwt. of bran, the property of Thomas Gaffney, Esquire, J. P. ; supposed to reside in the neighbourhood of Killkishen, district of Tulla, and county Clare :— Round stooped shoulders, short cocked nose, fair reddish complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, between 40 and 50 years of age, sandy hair and whiskers all round face; wore a gray frieze coat; appeared to be a countryman. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Costelloe, native of Cortoon, Kirwin, near Kilmaine, who stands charged with having, on the 15th July, 1886, in the barony of Kilmaine, parish of Ballinrobe, stolen a pig, the property of Michael Reilly, of Ballinrobe ; the pig has been recovered:— Slight cast in left eye, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a fair moustache and small side whiskers, soft black hat, gray tweed suit, black leather leggings, may have gone to England to rejoin the army; army reserve man from cavalry; he trains horses. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Healy, native of Carnaclory, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 21st day of January, 1886, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Killedan, assaulted Edward Hussey, assistant messenger of the Court of Bankruptcy, Ireland, after being arrested on a Warrant issued by said Court, thereby effecting his escape from legal custody:— Holds down his head, and appears shy when spoken to, high cheek bones, strong features, small fair moustache, no beard or whiskers, full gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, light brown hair; wore a low black hat, wide leaf, dark tweed or serge coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest, may be wearing a dark tweed ulster coat; is a shopkeeper. DESCRIPTION of Anne Dempsey, supposed native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of February, 1886, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of Ardea, deserted her infant child, Thomas Dempsey, 3 months old, who had on him clothes branded Carlow Union:— Left eye sore, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, stout make 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat trimmed with fur, blue dress with flounces; is a vagrant. The watch, and first halves of six £ 1 notes, stolen on night of 21st December, 1885, out of the waiting, room at Wicklow Railway Station, by cutting a hole in the Dublin Mail Bag, and removing from it the " Registered Letter Bag," which contained the articles referred to, have not been recovered. DESCRIPTION of John Walsh ( mother's surname Cody), native of Cappamore, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of March, 1886, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Abington, seriously assaulted John O'Donnell, and whose life is now in danger:— Turns out his toes when walking, small dark moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cap, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; generally employed breaking stones.
