ENGLISH POLICE. AIISOONDED on tho 18th instant, and now charged by Warrant with stealing a mare, since recovered, " Henry Mullin," alias " Johnston," or " Mullin- gar" :— About 26 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, stout build, full red face, black hair and moustache ; has prominent teeth, and the two front teeth appear to have been filed ; dressed in a brownish- gray tweed suit of horsey cut, white neckerchief, black billycock hat, and heavy laced boots ; was accompanied by his wife, who is the daughter of a car proprietor named Loughlin, of Carlisle. Ho has been employed as groom, attending fairs in England and Ireland for John liowthcr, Mr. Brandt, and a man known as 41 Buildon Charley," a'l horsedealers of Carlisle. Please cause every possible inquiry to be made at livery stables, horse repositories, and all likely places. If found, arrest and telegraph to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent Detective Department. IMMEDIATE AND IMPORTANT. ON the 3rd instant, about 7 A. M., the body of a man ( unknown), described below, was found lying dead on the Nottingham- road, near Chaddesden ( a few yards outside Derby b > rough boundary), with a bullet wound in his forehead, a small five- chambered pinfire 7 m. revolver, electro- plated, was found at his feet. Is 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair complexion, grayish blue eyes, brown hair, cut close, body strong and muscular, about 11 stone, large pockmark on tip of nose, another close to end of left nostril, close shaven, short scanty reddish moustache, had a red vulcanite false pallet in mouth fowing to detect in natural pallet), has small soft hands, and does not appear to have been used to maniwl wink, small feet ( a ring with three patent keys found on person), has the appearance of an Irishman, 8rd and 4th fingers on left hand, old injury. Dressed in reddish seed Scotch mixture overcoat, round short fancy cloth tattersall ( black ground with white and brown lines) bound with black braid, brown and green Scotch cheviot mixture vest and trowsers. latter with fly front, black and gray wool socks, inside vest and drawers of gray Scotch wool, latter with scarlet band, stand- up linen collar, patent neck- scarf, blue silk with yellow spots, brown hard round topped felt hat, light lace- up boots, repaired at each toe. The above deceased was in company with a man unknown ( described below), in Derby, on Friday, the 1st instant; slept together on that night, at a public- house ; were together following day ( Saturday); both c died at a gunsmith's about 7 P. M. ; and de- ceased purchased a box of 50 cartridges to fit a revolver ( since) identified as the one found beside deceased. 21 of the above cartridges were found in his pocket, 4 in revolver, and 1 discharged, leaving 21 unaccounted for. A small soft parcel, about 9 inches square, rolled in newspaper, and tied with string, was in deceased's hand when he left the public- house after breakfast, on Saturday, which is unaccounted for. About 5 feet 4 inches high, 26 years of age, light complexion, very slight whiskers, slight figure, dressed in dark blue cut- off jacket, check trowsers, hard block round- topped felt hat, with flat wide brim. Has the appearance of a groom. An inquest has been held, and an open verdict letiiwujd. rtm circumstances of this ca? e are s<* extremely suspicious that Police Officers are requested to cause immediate inquiry to be made, wi'h the object of identifying tho dead man, and tracing the man in whose company he was last seen, and communicate all information as early as possible. SCOTCH POLICE, PERTHSHIRE CONSTABULARY. STOLEN, betwc I 22nd December, 1885, and 1st January, 1886, fram a mansion house in Perth- shire :— Twelve silver table forks, '' King's" pattern, an<~ full size, the initials D. C. W." in monogram engraved on each. The Police are requested to make special search and inquiry at pawn offices, brokers, silversmiths, and watchmakers' shops, and other likely places for the stolen articles, and should any trace be found t( County Police Office, Peitb, January 21, 1886. PARTICULARS relative to convict James Schriber, A 362, convicted at Dublin City Commission, on the 2nd December, 1881, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 22 years of age on con viction ; single, is a watchmaker, born in Dublin, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside in France ; brown hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, s allow complexion, round visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high, is pockpitted This man was released on Licence from Mountjoy Prison, 23rd November, 1885, and went to reside at 3, Denzille- street, Dublin, which place he left without reporting same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the Act 34 and 35 Vic., Sac 5, cap. 112. General Prisons Board, January 18, 1886. ( 31913 M.— 59598. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Herbert, A 64, convicted at Newry, county Down, at the Summer Assizes, the 3rd July, 1879, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age, single, is » labourer, born at Monkstown, couuty Dublin, his friends reside at Rathmines; light brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, sandy complexion, broad visage, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; dot bstween forefinger and thumb, both hands. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 2nd January, 1886, and went to reside i » Dublin. He reported himself to the Police on same date, and said he had no settled place of residence, but when he had procured one he would inform them. He has not done so up to the present, and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the AcV 31 < fc 35 Yic., section 5, cap. 112. January 18, 1880. PARTICULARS relative to English convict Margaret Ryan, convicted at Bristol, 6th January, 1882, for felony, after previous conviction of felony, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 years' police supervision ; 45 years of age on conviction, married, a charwoman, prison trade— tailoress, born in Ireland, resided before conviction at Bristol:— Gray hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, round visage, propor- tionate make, 5 feet high ; scar left side of neck, mole upper part of left arm- This woman reported to the Royal Irish Con- stabulary at Waterford, the 16th November, 1885, her intention of grong to Carrick- on- Suir, but she has not reported herself at tlie latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 2rtth instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state :— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. DESCRIPTION of John Devlin, native of Chapel- hill. who stands charged with having, on the 80th December, 1885 and 3rd January, 1836, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Templepatrick, attempted to commit a rape on Mary Ann Stewart: — Tender eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fee^ I or 2 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair, light moustache and side whiskors, chiu shaved ; wore a soft black hat, black coat, patched corduroy trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Graham, native of Temple- patrick, who stands charged with having, on the 17th December, 1885, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Racavan, embezzled the sum of £ 86 8s. the property of his employers, Messrs. Lester, Brothers:— Bare spot on crown of head, walks stiffly, one shoulder higher than the other, coarse voice, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, e* out make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 36 years of age, dark hair, no whiskers, dark moustache ; wore a dark cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; was formerly at sea, and served in a dragoon rogiment ; is a carter. Richard Mayes, native of Lisburn ( charged with having, on the night of the 5th Septemiser, 1885, committed a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th September, 1885. Belfast. The woman, name unknown, supposed native of about Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, committed infanticide, has not been arrested; Hue- and Cry, 6th November, 1885. Licensed convict George M'Cullagh ( not reporting change of residence), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Thomas Cullen ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. Cavan. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of Patrick Darcy, of Kilduff, which was stolen out of his byre, at Kilduff, in the parish of Killinagh, and barony of Tullyhaw, on the night of 29th or morning ot 30th January, 1886:— A three- year old heifer, short cocked horns, red yellow colour, star on forehead, two white spots on tail, white spot on each shoulder; value for about £ 5. DKSORIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 8rd day of January, 1886, in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffe, broken into the dwelling house of Margaret Loftus, at Market- street, Ennis, at about the hour of 3 o'clock, A. M., and by threats compelled her to give them £ 35 10*,, and who also took from her shop lour bottles of brandy. Money consisted of two ten pound notes, two five pound notes, five singles, and a half- sovereign. Number of notes and Bank unknown :— 1. Hooked nose, thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a two- peaked gray tweed cap, long gray frieze coat, brown trowsers; spoke with a rough accent. 2. Long thin nose, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 jeara of » ge, dark h « ir; wore a blue cloth cap with peak, ear flaps tie<) on top, pea jacket, blue coat, gray trowsers; spoke with an English accent. Patrick Quinn ( charged with having been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of several persons and demanded arms and money), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 4th December, 1885. Donegal DESCRIPTION of Fanny O'Donnell, native of Dungloe, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of January, 1886, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Raphoe, drowned her illegitimate male child, aged six weeks:— Short prominent upper lip, hair scanty, cut in front to form fringe, ears pierced but no earrings, light blue eyes ( suffering from cold), rather short nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark fair hair ; wore a faded cotton dress with flounces, green plaid shawl, strong laced boots ( much worn) ; is a servant. Charles Manly ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry 3rd November, 1885. Fermanagh. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884. Galway. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th January, 1886, in the barony of Dunmore, parish of Tuam, threatened one Thomas Madden, at Drumackin, if he did not give up his herding:— Smooth face, medium make, 6 feet 2 inches high, about 27 years of age ; wore a long waterproof coat, reaching nearly tp the ground. John Wood ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 5th January, 1886. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of a gun and revolver, the property of Jeremiah Murphy, of Knockacurrane, which were stolen from his house at Knockacurrane, parish of Stradbally, and barony of Corkaguiny, on 19th De- cember, 1885, viz.:— A double- barrelled muzzle- loading fowling- piece, very much worn, brazed on top between stock and barrell, near the hammers; and value for £ 1 10s. A six- cliambered revolver with buck- horn handle, nicely browned, in good order, had some name cut on the part over the chamber, but name unknown; and was value for £ 1 5s. Dingle, December 24, 1885. ( 72128 c.— 24332.) Daniel Sullivan ( charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magu ' ihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th November, 1885. Kildare On the 22rid of January inst., James Slattery, a convict on ticket- of- licence, who had failed to report himself, was returned for trial at Monasterevan Petty Sessions, for a robbery of plate from the R. C. Chapel 1 there. In a bundle which he had there was some Altar linen, partly cut up, and H piece of embroidery , on white satin, 3^ yards long. inches deep, with a yellow fringe on one side 2 inches deep. The embroidery consisted of flowers and leaves in green and red, two rings at each end, and a large one in the centre containing the letters " I. H. S., " inter- laced in green, yellow, white and crimson. These do not belong to Monasterevan Chapel, and it is believed that Slattery committed a similar robbery elsewhere. James Farrell ( absconded from Urlingford Union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th May, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. King's. Young offender, Patrick Roache, described in issue of 29th January, 1886, has been arrested. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of three head of cattle, the property of R. Bourke, Esq., which were maliciously driven off the lands of Lacknascarry, parish of Ballinaclough, barony of Coonagh, on the night of the 11th January, 1 886, and are now supposed to be stolen, viz. :— 1. A heifer, years old, red colour with white spots over body, and one white spot on left flank, in good condition ; value for £ 10. 2. and 3. Supposed to be red colour, 1J years old ; value for £ 10 each. Sex of Nos. 2 and 8 not known. New Pallas, Jen. 27, 1886. ( 7274^ 1 c.— 25209.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Power, and John Power, natives of Kilmeedy, and William Kiely ( mother's surname Irwin), native of Dromminacreena, who stand charged with having, on the 8th January, 1886, in the barony of Upper Connello, parish of Ballingarry, seriously assaulted Catherine Fitzgibbon, and thereby placed her life in danger: 1. Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a low soft hat, gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a cooper. 2. Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inchei high, about 19 years of age, fair hair; wore a low soft, harH dark tweed coat, tweed'trowsers and vest; is a cooper. 3. Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, light brown hair; wore a low soft hat, dark tweed coat, cord trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son Adare, January 16, 1886. ( 72560 c.—- 24897.) Mary FitzGibbon, ( name supposed fictitious) ( robbery of clothing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd December, 1885. Timothy Lenehan ( assault by stabbing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th October, 1885. Frederick F. Featherstone ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 18th September, 1885, Londonderry. Margaret Sweeney, ( child desertion), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 17th November, 1885. Henry E. Macann ( indecent assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 7th April, 1885. Longford. DESCRIPTION of John Kenny, native of Aughna- sillagh, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd of January, 1886, in the barony of Moydow, parish of Kilglass, dangerously assaulted Michael Carrigy :— Good- looking, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a low hard hat, black cloth coat, tweed trowsers, and vest, and is supposed to wear a black or brown top coat; is a farmer and labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Brown, native of Kilcurry, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th December, 1885, in the barony of Shrule, parish of Taghshinny, seriouslv assaulted Mathew Ryan, of Kilcurry, in conjunction with James Dougherty, who has surrendered:— Good- looking, gilf eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, gray trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Healy, native of Carnaclory, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 21st day of January, 1880, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Killedan, assaulted Edward Hussey, assistant messenger of the Court of Bankruptcy, Ireland, after being arrested on a Warrant issued by said Court, thereby effecting his escape from legal custody :— Holds down his head, and appears shy when spoken to, high cheek bones, strong features, small fair moustache, no beard or whiskers, lull gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of ago, light brown hair; wore a low black hat, wide leaf, dark tweed or serge coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest, may bo wearing a dark tweed ulster coat; is a shopkeeper. DESCRIPTION of Robert Peyton ( mother's surname Boughton>, native of Westlands, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1881, ; n the barony of Carra, parish of Ballyhean, committed rapo :— Gentlemanly appearance, sometimes wears glasses ; blue eyes, aquiline nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 0 feet high, about 40 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and v. st, dark gray overcoat; is a gentleman. DESCRIPTION of Bryan Doonan ( mother's surname Caulfield), native of Ardcul, who stands charged with having, on the 31st December, 1H85, in the barony of costello, parish of Castlemore, committed a serious assault on his brother, Michael Doonan:— Dark eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, and small black moustache ; wore a round hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. James Gavan ( bigamy), described in last, Hue- and- Ory, not arrested. Queen's. John bergin ( obtaining moneyon false pretences), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 10th November, 1885. Roscommon. James Flynn ( fraud), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 20th October, 1885. Sligo. Margaret Burns ( failing to appear to prosecute in a case of assault upon herself, when bound to do so by sworn information), has been arrested ; Hue- acd- Ory, 14th of last month. Tipperary. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of December, 1885, in the barony ol Upper Ormond, parish of Lisbunny, stolen six head of cattle, the property of Michael Brien, of Curraheen :— Tall, middled- aged, looked like a drover; wore a long dark coat, whiiish trowsers, and a red hand- kerchief round neck.
