W." ; gold brooch, set with pearls and rubies ; gold chased cross, has had a pearl in centre which is missing j one plain gold brooch; one brooch and ear- rings, enamelled black and gold; one large silver brooch ; plain piece in centre: lady's gold ring, set with three rubies and pearls ; one silver brooch, fan pattern ; one silver cross, chased, a small locket on top; a light brown pocket book in which were five receipts for £ 10 each, from Mr. Buckley; Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher's marriage certificate, a child's birth certificate, and £ i in gold and ten shillings in silver; life policy of Thomas Joseph Fletcher, in the Gresham Life Insurance Company, for £ 500, payable at death or at the ago of 50. By a man about 33 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches, well built, square shoulders, sallow com- plexion, dark hair, light brown moustache, dressed in dark brown overcoat, dark billycock hat, very low crown and broad brim, wears a pair of brown kid gloves, aud carries a small bright leather bag. Police officers are requested to make particular enquiries at pawnbrokers, jewellers, silversmiths, and others for tho above described property; and should any trace of it or tbe thieves be obtained to communicate without delay to CHAS. AWAITING trial at the next Sessions, on a charge of shopbreaking, and stealing a large quantity of clothiug ( all recovered), a man giving the name of u Armstrong, who states that he is an engine- er and native of Berwick- on- Tweed, but refuses ^ jBPW any further account of himself; He is 37 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, reddish brown moustacho, blue eyes, fair complexion, high cheek bones, part bracelet and thistle ( indistinct) tattooed on left wrist, mole below right breast: He is strongly suspected of being a native of Glasgow, and convicted in Ireland j and is an expert thief, and well acquainted wiih prison discipline. Information to the Chief Superintendent, Detec- tive Department, Liverpqol. January 4, 1886. ( 31836 M.— 59495.) BETWEEN 10 and 11 o'clock in the forenoon of the 21st inst., Robert Henry Selby absconded from the Manchester and Liverpool District Bank, where he was a clerk, in this borough. It has since been discovered that he has stolen several sums of money from the said Bank. He is of the following descrip- tion, viz.:— 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionately built, dark eyes, black hair, cut short, small black moustache, clean shaven, with the exception of about an inch on the upper side of face, which is round. Dressed in fine blue black over coat, dark cloth coat, brownish plaid trowsers, dark biUjcpok^ hafc.., Hy is of ^ ntl as acted as The Captain of the Oldham Football Team. It is supposed he will seek an opportunity to leave the country for Buenos Ayres. He has an uncle a clergyman in Ireland. If discovered, arrest and communicate with the Chief Constable, Oldham, who will send for him. Warrant issued. Town Hall, Oldham, December 22, 1885. G." painted black, containing:— A pale blue knitted shawl, and a blue and white shawl; a black cashmere dress ; a pair of patent leather slippers; three linen and four muslin aprons ( white); a pocket Bible; a servant's muslin ; ap; three linen collars ( lady's); one pair cuffs ^ lady's); two pocket handkerchiefs ( lady's); one pair id gloves ( lady's) ; a lady's black satin dress, trimmed ith black lace and jet, and a brown cashmere and clveteen dress; a child's brown velveteen dress ; a aby's straw coloured silk shawl; a pair of brown id ( lady's), and two pairs of brown kid children's) ; a silver card case, having Mrs. John boyd's cards inside; a small gold mosaic brooch. > A pair of trowsers and a pair of pledged in a pawn office in Young- street, < 4i Gallowgate, Glasgow, about 8.30 A. M , on 31st I ecember, 1885, by a woman who gave the name and address " Mary Smith, 30, Annfield- strcet, Glasgow," and is described by the pawnbroker, who will be able to identify her, as follows:— 30 to 35 yi ! ars of age, dark hair, pale face, medium height and b' lild, and wore a gray shawl over her head. OBTAINED by false pretences at a jeweller's shop in Windsor, on 23rd December, 1885 :— A gold cut hunter keyless Geneva watch, No. 67095 on dome; also two gold curb pattern Albert chains, cne 15 the other 9 carat, stamped on every link ; value £ 21, by a man about 5 feet 5 inches high, and 35 years of age, medium build, small brown eyes, rather weak sight, brown or fair beard and moustache, short and thin; coat and trowsers dark mixture, very thin shoes ( looked liked dirty patent leather), German accent, spoke very good English slowly. - Please cause enquiries at pawn and other shops. Warrant issued. The above reward will be paid by W. S. CANTRELL, Esq., J. p., Windsor, to any one giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender, and recovery of the property. STOLKN by means of housebreaking, during the night of 25th and morning of 26th December, 1885, from Ayr- road Railway station ( Caledonian Railway), in this county :— A Tam- o- Shanter bonnet, Astrachan cloth, size for boy of 4 years; a small hand- axe stamped " C. R." Also by means of housebreaking during the night of 30th and morning of 31st December, 1885, from Mount Vernon Station ( North British Railway), in this county :— A brown leather portmanteau, having two straps and " J. B. G." pointed in black, maker Hanley, Argyle- street, Glasgow, containing :— A gentleman's black cl > th dress suit, M Leod on hanger; A black worsted coat, M'Leod, Glasgow, on hanger; two shirts, six cellars, four cuffs, all marked Reilly, Webster and Borland, Argyle- street, Glas- gow; a night shirt m irked J. Boyd; a pair of WANTED at County Constabulary Office, Hamil- ton, N. B., on a charge of assault to the fracture of bones, committed in the workings of a coal- pit, near Motherwell, in this county, on the 22nd instant, Sheriff's Warrant granted:— James Smith, a miner, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, cut short, little whiskers, if any, heavy dark moustache, which may be shaved off, spoke with Irish accent; dressed in a brownish tweed jacket or coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, dark cloth cap, with peak of same cloth. He is married, with five of a family, all girls, his wife and family are residing at Rottentree, near Craigneuk, where the three eldest are attending the Roman Catholic Scbool. It is said that previous to this he was in America or thereby, and during that time his wife and family resided in Blantyre. Also for having, on the 23rd instant, stolen from Clydeford House, Cambuslang, in this county, where she was then serving, the following articles, not recovered:— A lady's brown ducked tweed dress, plaited body and kilted skirt; a lady's cardinal tweed dolman cloak, bow of ribbons on back, trimmed with feather trimming on neck, sleeves, and pockets, left pocket sewed up, buttons to match; a lady's green felt hat, postman shape, trimmed with green silk velvet and green wing; a lady's skirt, navy blue and yellow stripe, alternately, with gray head- band and button; a lady's petticoat, navy blue and cardinal stripe, alternately ; a black quilted stays; a white cotton chemise; a pair of lady's drawers, gray flannel, bound with red round legs; a lady's black morocco hand- bag, large size; a pair of Scotch blankets, having three blue stripes round border and edged with red worsted:— Agnes Tait or M'Naught, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches or 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, gray in front, round full face, gray eyes, stout build, cut mark on chin and upper lip, burn mark on back of right hand; supposed dressed in the stolen clothing as she left her own. Accused is married, but appears to be living apart from her husband, she is said to have wrought in a confectionery work in Cannongate, Edinburgh, and also in Glasgow ; her husband's name is James M'Naught, who is a tin- smith to trade. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division, PARTICULARS relative te " English convict Margaret Ryan, convicted at Bristol, 6th January, 1882, for felony, after previous conviction of felony, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 years' police supervision ; 45 years of age on conviction, married, a charwoman, prison trado— tailoress, born in Ireland, resided before conviction at Bristol:— Gray hair, blue eyes, fresli complexion, round visage, propor- tionate make, 5 feet high ; scar left side of neck, mole upper part of left arm. This woman reported to the Royal Irish Con- stabulary at Waterford, the 16th November, 1885, her intention of going to Carrick- on- Suir, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event t> f her { arrest she should J}^/ dcalt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 85 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 88, 1885. ( 31390 it 59422.) DESCRIPTION of William M'Mullan, native of Cul- nafay, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of December, 1885, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion, seriously assaulted John Mulholland and Roger M'Clenaghan, by stabbing them with a penknife, and thereby endangered the life of the former:— Leans forward when walking; gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, long thin face, slight make, 6 feet high,^ abou4J2,0 years of age, dark hair ; wore a round hard hat, black coat, gray trowsers; is a labourer. Antrim, Dec. 26, 1885. ( 72244 c.— 24413.) PARTICULARS relative to convict William M'Manus, convicted at Armagh, county Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on the 8th December, 1881, for Larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude ; 51 years of age on conviction, single, is a dealer, born at Londonderry, where ho resided before conviction :— Gray hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, medium mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 6 inches high, left leg has been ulcerated. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on Licence, 16th November, 1885, and went to Cork, which place he left on the 22nd ult., without reporting same to Police, and it is stated he went to Fermoy. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 84 and 35 Vie., cap. 112, General Prisons Board, December 10,1885. ( 31669.^.— 59307.) ( PARTICULARS relative to Convict James Hearty, A373, convicted at Armagh, at the " Winter Assizes, on 5th December, 1881, for cattle stealing, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 23 years ( of ago on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, resided before coi viction at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, where hjis friends reside ; black hair, blue eyes, black eyebrovj/ s, large nose, regular fnouth,( sallow complexion, o; visage, medium inako, 5 feet 6 inches high. Th; s man was released from Mountjoy Prison " licence, 19th November, 1885, and went to Dub] He reported himself on same date to the Metropolitan Police, and then said he had no fixed residence, » " t that he would call back tho next morning and . Ave his address. He has not done so up to the pre; " ti and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Ac*, 84 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391118. 10d. sterling, the money and property of tho said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, G Division, September 3, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years Old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark besird, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Superintendent's Office, G Division, July 30, 1886. ( 30961 M.— 58003.) In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. Lester, Brothers:— Bare spot on crown of head, walks stiffly, one shoulder higher than the other, coarse voice, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 36 years of a£ e, dark hair, no whiskers, dark moustache ; wore a dark cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; was formerly at sea, and served in a dragoon regiment; is a carter. Constabulary at Ballvmena hold warrant for his arrest. Ballymena, Dec., 18, 1885. ( 72068 c.— 24165.) Hamilton Black ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th October, 1885. Richard Mayes, native of Lisburn ( charged with having, on the night of the 5th September, 1888, committed a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th September, 1886. Belfast The woman, name unknown, supposed native of about Lisburn, wjio stands charged with having, on the night of peth^ r morning of 3j) th October, 1885, in the Barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, committed infanticide, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th November, 1885. Licensed convict George M'Cullagh ( not reporting change of residence), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Thomas Cullen ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. ) • Carlow. DESCRIPTION of John Gettings, native of Dominga, near Goresbridge, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on or about the 18th December, 1885, in the baroDy of Idrone West, parish of Wells, stolen a sheep, the property of John White, of Fenniscourt, near Bagenalstown :— Dark brown eyes, cocked nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a horse's harness, the property ot Colonel Macadam, which were stolen from his harness- room at Blackwater, parish of Parteen, barony of Bunratty, Lower, on the night of the 30th November, 1885:— One collar and harr. es, one straddle and one breeching; there was a brass plate on each side of the collar, two in front and two behind the bridge of the straddle : the breeching was fastened to the straddle by a strap and buckle. The collar was marked on the left side " O'Donnell, Limerick," and the top- strap was torn off. Sixmilebridge, Dec. 14, 1885. ( 71991 c.— 24054). Cork. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Sheridan, alias Hogan, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 30th November, 1885, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, entered the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Clancy, and forcibly robbed a servant named Norah Lawlor of four shillings:— Pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 45 years of age ; wore an old dark gray shiwl on head, and an old- fashioned cloak with hood, was barefooted and accompanied by her children a boy and three girls ; is a tinker's wife. Mitchelstown, Dec. 5, 1885. ( 71855 c.— 23853.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick Quinn, native of Farran, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th November. 1885, at Ballydrideen, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Aglishdrinagh and Ballycokery, been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of'several persons and demanded arms and money:— Down looking appearance, gray or blue eyes, straight nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, black moustache, shaves all his face; wore a low black felt hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Charleville, December 1,1885. ( 71810 c.— 23782.) Donegal Neil O'Donnell ( assault endangering life), has been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd July, 1885. Down. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th January, 1886, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of Magheradrole, stolen two sheep:— Brown eyes, thin lump on top of nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 or 45 years of age, brown hair, sandy beard, about a weeks growth; wore a gray cap with peak behind and before, brown waterproof coat, brown tweed trowsers, and vest, also wore yellow kid gloves. Downpatrick, Jan. 6, 1886. ( 72416 c.— 24668.) DESCRIPTION of sheep, the property of William M'Kelvey, which were stolen from the lands of Glassdrummond, parish of Magheradrole, barony of Kinalarty, on night of 4th January, 1886:— Two white ewe sheep, one 2 years old, and the other 1 year old, marked on right sides respectively with numbers 48 and 49 in red paint, they are fat and ready for the butcher ; value for £ 5. These sheep were sold in Belfast Market on 5th instant, any information regarding them to be sent to the District Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, Downpatrick. Downpatrick, Jan. 6, 1886. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884. Galway. DESCRIPTION of John Mulkerrin, native of Letter- deskert, and Patt Madden, native of Mweenish Island, who stand charged with haviDg, on the 26th November, 1885, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Moyrus, assaulted Michael M'Donough, causing his life to be in danger :— 1. Smart active appearance, moustache lately clipped short, full red beard, regular nose, fair com- plexion, thin freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 10£ inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair ; wore a hard round hat, brown coat ( much worn); is a farmer's son. 2. Good looking, slight downey beard and mous- tache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, / air hair; dressed in CoDnemara frieze, which is gray; is a farmer's son and fisherman. DESCRIPTION of a gun and revolver, the property of Jeremiah Murphy, of Knockacurrane, which were stolen from his house at Knockacurrane, parish of Stradbally, and barony of Corkaguiny, on 19th De- cember, 1885, viz.:— A double- barrelled muzzle- loading fowling- piece, very much worn, brazed on top between stock and barrell, near the hammers; and value for £ 1 10.?. A six- chambered revolver with buck- horn handle, nicely browned, in good order, had some name cut on the part over the chamber, but name unknown; and was value for £ 1 5s. Dingle, December 24, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, plexion, thin face, slight active make, 6 fe^ MHth, about 2( 1 or 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wfre a soft hat. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having on the night of the llth December, 1885, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Kilmore, been two Moonlighters, armed with revolvers, who entered the house of Denis Manning, of Ballincur, and forcibly took therefrom a double- barrelled gun; one of the Moonlighters presented a revolver at Manning, and the other man fired a shot from revolver out of the door :— 1. Tuft of beard on chin, black moustache, cut short, coarse face as if in the habit o shaving, dark complexion, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, wore a soft hat, faded, especially the band, dark frieze coat, dark trowsers, hat drawn ovei the face. 2.
