ENGLISH POLICE. BETWEEN 10 and 11 o'clock in the forenoon of the 21st inst, Robert Henry Selby absconded from the Manchester and Liverpool District Bank, where he was a clerk, in this borough. It has since been discovered that he has stolen several sums of money from the said Bank. He is of the following descrip- tion, viz.:— 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionately built, dark eyes, black hair, cut short, small black moustache, clean shaven, with the exception of about an inch on the upper side of face, which is round. Dressed in fine blue black over- coat, dark cloth coat, brownish plaid trowsers, and dark billycock hat. He is of gentlemanly appear- ance, and for several years has acted as the Captain of the Oldham Football Team. It is supposed he Will seek an opportunity to leave the country for Buenos Ay res. He has an uncle a clergyman in Ireland. If discovered, arrest and communicate with the Chief Constable, Oldham, who will send for ium. Warrant issued. Town Hall, Oldham, December 22, 168*. OBTAINED by false pretences at a jeweller's ffhop in Windsor, on 23rd December, 1885 :— A gold cut hunter keyless Geneva watch, No. 67095 911 dome; also two gold curb pattern Albert chains, cn- e 15 the other 9 carat, stamped on every link ; value .£ 21, by a man about 5 feet 5 inches high, and 35 years of age, medium build, small brown eyes, rather weak sight, brown or fair beard » nd moustache, short nnd thin; coat and trowsers dark mixture, very thin shoes ( looked liked dtirty patont loather), German accent, spoke very good English slowly. Please cause enquiries at pawn and other shops. Warrant issued. The above reward will be paid by W. S. CANTRELL, Esq., J. P., Windsor, to any one giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender, and recovery of the property. Carl Lemong alias Charles Hotzel ( housebreaking and robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd October, 1885. - DUBLIN meTROPOliTAn POLICE G Division, PARTICULARS relative to English convict Margaret Ryao, convicted at Bristol, 6th January, 1882, for felony, after previous conviction of felony, and sen- tenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and it years' police supervision ; 45 years of age on conviction, married, a charwoman, prison trade— tailoress, born in Ireland, resided before conviction at Bristol:— Gray hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, round visage, propor- tionate make, 5 ieet h gh ; scar left side of neck, mole Supper part of left arm. were pledged in a pawn office in Young- street, off Gallowgate. Glasgow, about 8.30 AM, on 31st December, 1885, by a woman who gave tho name and address " Mary smith, 80. Annfield- street, Glasgow," and is described by the pawnbroker, who will be able to identify her, as follows:— 30 to 35 years of age, dark hair, pa'e fac, medium height and build, and wore a gray shawl over her head. Information 10 Superintendent STEWART, Coat- bridge, or to Chief Inspector CARMIChAEL, Hamilton, N. B. , ( 31831 M.— 59486.) • WASTED at County Constabulary Office, Hamil- ton, N. B., on a charge of assault to the fracture of bones, committed in the workings of a coal- pit, near Motherwell, in this county, on the 22nd instant, Sheriff's Warrant granted:— James Smith, a miner, about 35 years of ago, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, cut short, little whiskers, if any, heavy dark moustache, which may be shaved offi spoke with Irish accent; dressed in a brownish tweed jacket or coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, dark cloth cap, with peak of same cloth. He is married, with five of a family, all girls, his wife and family are residing at Rottentree, near Craigneuk, where the three eldest are attending the Roman Catholic School. It is said that previous to this he was in America or thereby, and during that time his wife and family resided in Blantyre. Also for having, on the 23rd instant, stolen from Clydeford House, Cambuslang, in this county, where she was then serving, the following articles, not recovered:— A lady's brown ducked tweed dress, plaited body and kilted skirt; a lady's cardinal tweed dolman cloak, bow of ribbons on back, trimmed with feather trimming on neck, sleeves, and pockets, left pocket sewed up, buttons to match ; a lady's green felt hat, postman shape, trimmed with green silk velvet and green wing; a lady's skirt, navy blue and yellow stripe, alternately, with gray head- band and button; a lady's petticoat, navy blue and cardinal stripe, alternately; a black quilted stays; a white cotton chemise; a pair of lady's drawers, gray flannel, bound with red round legs; a lady's black morocco hand- bag, large size; a pair of Scotch blankets, having three blue stripes round border and edged with red worsted:— Agnes Tait or M'Naught, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inchcs or j 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, gray in front, round full i face, gray eyes, stout build, cut mark on chin and upper j lip, burn mark on back of right hand ; supposed dressed i in the stolen clothing as she left her own. Accused is , married, but appears to be living apart from her : husband, she- is said to have wrought in a confectionery j work in Cannongate, Edinburgh, and also in Glasgow ; her husband's name is James M'Naught, who is a tin- smith to trade. PARTICULARS relative to convict William M'Manus, convicted at Armagh, county Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on the 8th December, 1881, for Larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 51 years of age on conviction, single, is a dealer, born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction :— Gray hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, medium mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 6 inches high, left leg has been ulcerated. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on Licence, 16th November, 1885, and went to Cork, which place he left on the 2^ nd ult., without reporting same to Police, and it is stated he went to Fermoy. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 and 35 Vie , cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 10,1885. ( 31669 si— 59307.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict James Hearty, A373, convicted at Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on 5th December, 1881. for cattle stealing, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, resided before con- viction at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, where hi9 friends reside ; black hair, blue eyes, black eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 6 feet 0 inches high. Th: s man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 19th November, 1885, and went to Dublin. He reported himself on same date to the Metropolitan Police, and then said he had no fixed residence, but that he would call hack the next morning and give his address. He has not done so up to the present and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his a> rest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Ac*. 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Samuel Robinson, 10,888, convicted at Dundalk, county Louth, at the Spring Assizes, on the 5th March, 1878, for larceny of sheep, after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude:— 45 years of age, is married, is a shoemaker, born at Larne, county Antrim, resided before conviction at Togher, county Louth; his friends reside in France; brown hair, turning gray, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, largo hooked nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high; cut mark on left hand, l^ t one lower and three upper I front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison pn , licence, the 4th inst., and went to reside at 4, , Ryder s- row, Dublin, which place he left on or about the 10th inst., without notifying'same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on tho 29 th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously • steal the sum of £ 2,891 11*. I Od. sterling, the money j and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressod in ( supposed) yellowish j tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Join Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Ager for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin* who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28 th instant, ana " absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state :—- He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, Walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward pf £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. DESCRIPTION of a horse's harness, the property of Colonel Macadam, which were stolen from his harness- room at Blackwater, parish of Parteen, barony of Bunratty, Lower, on the night of the 30th November, 1885:— One collar and liair. es, one straddle and one breeching ; there was a brass plate on each side of the collar, two in front and two behind the bridge of the straddle : the breeching was fastened to the straddle by a strap and buckle; The collar was marked on the left side " O'Donnell, Limerick," and the top- strap was torn off. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Sheridan, alias Hogan, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 80th November, 1885, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, entered the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Clancy, and forcibly robbed a servant named Norah Lawlor of four sbillirigs :— Pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 0 inches high, about 45 years of age ; wore an old dark gray shtwl on head, and an old- fashioned cloak with hood, was barefooted and accompanied by her children a boy and three girls ; is a tinker's wife. DESCRIPTION of John Wood, native of Scarboro', and Robert Robinson, native of Leeds, who stand charged with having, on the 16th December, 1885, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, stolen about £ 8 in gold and silver, two suits of black cloth clothes, and a pair of elastic side b. iots, the property of Lieutenant H. O'Donnell, of the West York Regiment ;— 1. Various tattoo devices on both forearms, and hands, has an anchor and the letters '' J. E.," on. out- side of left forearm, and a flag, anchor, key, and the letters J. E." on the inside, gray eyes, fresh com' plexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; is a private soldier of the West York Regiment. 2. Cross flags tattooed on right forearm, blue eyes, dark complexion, 5 feet ' 5£ inches high, about 19 years of age, brown hair; is a private soldier of the West York Regiment. DESCRIPTION of John Mulkerrin, native of Letter- deskert, and Patt Madden, native of Mweenish Island, who stand charged with having, on the 26th November, 1865, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Moyrus, assaulted Michael M'Donough, causing his life to be in danger :— 1. Smart active appearance, moustache lately clipped short, full red beard, regular nose, / air com- plexion, thin freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 10£ inches high, about 80 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round hat, brown coat ( much worn); is a farmer's son. 2. Good looking, slight downey beard and mous- tache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, medium make,, ff feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; dressed in Connemara frieze, which is gray; is a farmer's son and fisherman. DESCRIPTION O£ a gun and revolver, the property of Jeremiah Murphy, of Knockacurrane, which were stolen from his house at Knockacurrane, parish of Stradbally, and barony of Corkaguiny, on 19th De- cember, 1885, viz. A double- barrelled muzzle- loading fowling- piece, very much worn, brazed on top between stock and barrell, near the hammersand value for £ 1 10 . A six- chambered revolver with buck- horn handle, nicely browned,, in good order,, had some . name cut on the part over the chamber, but name' unknown; and was value for £ 1 5s. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 18th November, 1885, in the'barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiff ', murdered John O'C. Curtin:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, thin faoe, slight active make, 6 feet high, about 20 or 21 years of age, dark brown bajr; wore a soft hat.
