THE Police Gazette, OR HUE- AND- CRY. Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. ( Sp- All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description oan be inserted unless an Information shall hare been Sworn; but it ifl not necessary forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. v Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give tne number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. Prison and Police Authorities are requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublim Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any eircumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, DECEMBEB 25, 1885. ENGLISH POLIce. INFORMATION wanted as to the present whereabouts of licence holder, James Millia, Reg. No. A 361, a native of Enniscortby :— 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, sallow Complexion, black spot on right arm. Convicted at Dublin Assizes, 1st December, 1881, of stealing post letters whilst in the service of H. M. Post Office, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; released from H. M. Convict Prison, Mountjoy, 23rd ult. on licence ; came to Liverpool on the Oth inst., and is supposed to have emigrated, but ca » not be traced as having Sailed. Information to the Chief Superintendent. Detective Department, Liverpool, 22nd December, 1885. ( 31328 it.— 59401.) REMANDED to Her Majesty's Prison, Kendal, charged with picking pockets at Kendal :— Jane Daley, supposed fictitious, an Irish - woman, address refused :— 39 years of age, 4 feet inches high, dark brown hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, thick- set build, large scar from burn on right cheek, scar from abscess under right jaw, scar on chin and left shoulder, mole on right side of neck. Has been twice sent from Strangeways Prison, Manchester, to penal servitude. Thomas Ainsworth, supposed fictitious, address refused ; says he is a wood carver :— 51 years of age, 6 feet 4 J inches high, gray hair, blue eyes, large Roman nose, fresh complexion, proportionate build, scar on left cheek bone, bridge of nose, right thumb, and left shin ; scar of burn inside right wrist, scar of bubo left groin ; wore a black cloth suit, dark brown overcoat, hard black felt hat, cloth leggings, bound with yellow leather; respectable appearance. ( 31329 M— 59102 ) SCOTCH POLICE. COUNTY OF LANARK. WANTED at County Constabulary Office, Hamilton, N. B., suspected of theft by house- breaking, at Larkhall, during the night of 16th and morning of 17th December, 1885, ( property recovered), Robert Neil alias William Lindsay:— a miner, 31 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, thin face, sandy whiskers and moustache, about 3 weeks growth, but may now be shaved off, Scotch accent, smart appearance and walks erect, is of very drunken habits. Dressed when last seen on the 17th December, 1885', in dark tweed cap with peak, dark tweed jacket or coat, dark trowsers and vest, dark checked scarf ( generally wears a white muffler), and Lome shoes, clothing well- worn and shabby. STOLEN by means of house- breaking ( false keys), during the night of 1st and morning of 2nd Decem- ber, 1885, from a baker's. shop, at Lenzie, in this county:— Two or three dozen desert spoons, electro- plated, Queen's pattern; 5 fruit forks, electro- plated, shell pattern ; 4 fruit knives, electro- plated, shell pattern. At same time from a joiner's shop, a joiner's 1^- inch chisel. At same time from a shoemaker's shop, four pairs of ^> Qts, a pair of men's elastic sided, hand sewed, kid uppers ; a pair of men's lacing, hand sewed, kid tops, and toe- caps ; a pair of lady's kid, and a pair of lady's lacing, with kid uppers. Also from a shoemaker's shop, during the night of 14th and morning of 15th December, 1885 :— Four pairs of lady's kid boots, a pair of buttoned, machine sewed, " S. N. B." in ink on soles, size four; a pair of elastic sided, machine sewed; a pair of buttoned, button- holes patent bound, size four or five ; and a pair of lacing, machine sewed; five pairs of men's boots, a pair of strong lacing, hand sewed, narks of stitching where toe- caps have been removed; a pair with ssal legs and narrow toe- caps ; three pairs with kid appers; these fire pairs have calf goloched fronts, and thinks rise seven. At same time from a chemist's shop, a gentleman's Highland cloak, brown tweed, worn, a pair of kid gloves in pocket of cloak. At same time from a villa. A solid silver cruet- stand, large size, old- fashioned ; four of the bottles have since been recovered in a moss near by, but the silver tops of two of them have been wrenched off; a mustard bottle with silver top is .' till missing. A matelpiece ornament, silver, carved Indian pattern, about 4 inches high. A mahogany writing- desk, containing a small sum of money, two certificates for Royal Bank of Scotland stocks, one in favor of " Jane T. Sinclair," the other " Eliza A. L. Sinclair," with number of stock which are not known; also letters and other documents with " Miss Sinclair" thereon. Four gentlemen's overcoats, three of bluish- gray tweed, having " M'Niven and Hogarth" on hangers; and a heavy black cloth, with velvet collar, almost new, having " Salky " on hanger. Strongly suspected to hav^ been stolen by a man who was seen carrying two largo bundles near Lenzie, about 7 a. m. on the morning of 15th December, 1885, who asked the road to Kirkintilloch, in which direction he was then going. He is described as follows:— About 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches or 5 feet 8 inches in height, ordinary build, dark whiskers and moustache all round ; dressed in a dark coat or jacket and trousers, nnd dark double- peaked cap. Frank Wood, lately Accountant ia the Galashiels Branch of the British Linen Company's Bank ( em- bezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th October, 1885. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. The articles of jewellery stolen on the afternoon or night of the 5th, or morning of the 6th September, from the sale- room occupied by Mr. Walter Semple, Jeweller, St. Enoch's- lane, 145, Argyle- street, in this city, have not been recovered, nee Hue- and- Cry of 11th September, 1885. WELSH POLICE. Carl Lemong alias Charles Hotzel ( housebreaking and robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd October, 1885. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Denis Dwyer, who is missing from Lusk Prison, and who was last seen at Lusk about half- past 6 o'clock, on the evening of the 17th December, 1885, convicted at Tralee, county Kerr)-, at Spring Assizes, on 15th March, 1882, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, 19 years of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, single, a labourer, his friends reside at Gurthbrack, county Kerry :— Fair hair, blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows, regular nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, light make, 5 feet inches high. Notice.— A reward of frpm £ 3 to £ 5 may be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up a convict who shall have effected his escape from a Government Prison. Application to ba made to the Governor of the Prison. By Act 19th and 20th Vic., cap. 68, sec. 33, it U provided that any person who shall by any n? jans whatever aid and assist any prisoner to escape, or in attempting to escape, shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof, shall be kept in penal servi- tude for any term not less than 6 nor more than 8 years. PARTICULARS relative to convict William M'Manus, convicted at Armagh, county Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on the 8th December, 1881, for Larceny, and sentenced t » 5 years penal servitude; 51 yearn of age on conviction, single, is a dealer, born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction i— Gray hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, medium mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 6 inches high, left leg has been ulcerated. This man was released from Maryboro* Prison oa Licence, 16th November, 1885, and went to Cork, which place he left on the 2 Jnd ult., without reporting same to Police, and it is stated he went to Fermoy. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Aot 34 and 35 Tic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 10, 1885. ( 31669 M— 59307.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict James Hearty, A373, convicted at Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on 6th December, 1881, for cattle stealing, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, resided before con- viction at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, where his friends reside ; black hair, blue eyes, black eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high. Th; s man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 19th November, 1885, and went to Dublin. He reported himself on same date to the Metropolitan Police, and then said he had no fixed residence, but that he would call back the next morning and give his address. He has not done so up to the present and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5 th section of the Ac,*. 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 3, 18^ 5. ( 3l6i4 M.— 59231.) PARTICULARS relative to convict James Slatteiy, convicted at Cork, in the county of the city of Cork, at the Munster Winter Assizes, 8th December, 1881, for wounding, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 34 years of aga on conviction ; single, is a farmer, born in Clare, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside in New York? brown hair, turning gray, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular no3e, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inche3 high, has lost three front upper teeth, slightly pockmarked. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, on Licence, 17th November, 1885, and went to Clare, which place he left on the 20th ult., without notifying same to Police, and went by rail to Limeiick. His present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th Sec. of the Aot 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 3, 1885. ( 31645 M.— 59235.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, DECEMBER 25, 1885. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Samuel Robinson, 10,888, convicted at Dundalk, county Louth, at the Spring Assizes, on the 5th March, 1878, for larceny of sheep, after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude ;— 45 years of age, is married, is a shoemaker, born at Larne, county Antrim, resided before conviction at Togher, county Louth ; his friends reside in France ; brown hair, turning gray, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high; cut mark on left hand, lost one lower and three upper front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, the 4th inst., and went to reside at 4, Ryder's- row, Dublin, which place he left on or about the 1 uth inst., without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 26, 1885. ( 31609 M.— 59118.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Reidy, A305, convicted in Limerick City, at Summer Assizes, on 8th July, 1881, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 6 years' penal servitude:— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; resided before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, black eye- brows, regular nose, small mouth, sallow com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; Indian head tattooed on right forearm, and J. R. on left; star, shamrock, woman's head, cross, and ring, on left hand. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 16th September, 1885, and went to reside at Limerick. He has failed to report himself since 18th Sept- ember, 1885, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he Should' be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 84 £ 35 Vic., cap. 113. „ General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, « November la, 1885. ( 81541 M.— 58961.) DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391 lis. lOtf. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, G Division, September 3, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28 th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. walks stiffly, one shoulder higher than the other, coarse voice, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 36 years of age, dark hair, no whiskers, dark moustache ; wore a dark cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; was formerly at sea, and served in a dragoon regiment; is a carter. DESCRIPTION of James Graham, native of Temple- patrick, who stands charged with having, on the 17th December, 1885, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Racavan, embezzled the sum of £ 36 St. the property of his employers, Messrs. Lester, Brothers:— Bare spot on crown of head, Belfast. DESCRIPTION of a woman, name unknown, sup- posed native of about Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th October, 1885,. in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, committed infanticide:— A wart on upper part of right eye- lid, gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a black straw hat, with bunch of imitation grapes or berries on it, dark dress, black and white striped petticoat, faded red and black shawl; is sup- posed to be a servant. Was accompanied by a little boy, one- and- a- half years old, who was dressed in blue serge trimmed with gold lace, and a row of buttons down front of it, boy dark and good- looking, and mother stated his name was James M'Cauley. DESCRIPTION of John Gettings, native of Dominga, near Goresbridge, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on or about the 18th December, 1885, in the barony of Idrone West, parish of Wells, stolen a sheep, the property of John White, of Fenniscourt, near Bagenalstown :— Dark brown eyes, cocked nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of ahorse's harness, the property of Colonel Macadam, which were stolen from his harness- room at Blackwater, parish of Partsen, barony of Bunratty, Lower, on the night of the 30th November, 1885:— One collar and hames, one straddle and one breeching.; there was a brass plate on each side of the collar, two in front and two behind the bridge of the straddle; the breeching was fastened to the straddle by a strap and buckle. The collar was marked on the left side " O'Donnell, Limerick," and the top- strap was torn off. Sixmilebridge, Dec. 14, 1885. ( 71991 c.— 24054). Cork. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Sheridan, alias Hogan, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 30th November, 1885, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, entered the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Clancy, and forcibly robbed a servant named Norah Lawlor of four shillings :— Pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore an old dark gray shawl on head, and au old- fashioned cloak with hood, was barefooted and accompanied by her children a boy and three girls ; is a tinker's wife. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Quinn, native of Farran, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th November, 1885, at Ballydrideen, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Aglishdrinagh and Ballycokery, been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of several persons and demanded arms and money:— Down looking appearance, gray or blue eyes, straight nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, black moustache, shaves all his face ; wore a low black felt hat, dark tweed coat, trowseip, and vest; is a labourer. Neil O'Donnell ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th June, 1885. Dublin. Charles Manly ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry 3rd November, 1885. Fermanagh. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd October, 1884. Gal way. DESCRIPTION of John Wood, native of Scarboro', and Robert Robinson, native of Leeds, who stand, charged with having, on the 16th Deoember, 1885, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, stolen about £ 8 in gold and silver, two suits of black cloth clothes, and a pair of elastic side boots, the property of Lieutenant H. O'Donnell, of the West York Regiment:— 1. Various tattoo devices on both forearms, and hands, has an anchor and the letters " J. E.," on out- side of left forearm, and a flag, anchor, key, and the letters " J. E." on the inside, gray eyes, fresh som- plexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; is a private soldier of the West York Regiment. 2. Cross flags tattooed on right forearm, blue eyes, dark complexion, 5 feet 5J inches high, about 19 years of age, brown hair; is a private soldier of the West York Regiment. Galway, December J 9, 188S. ( 72069 c.— 24168.) DESCRIPTION of John Mulkerrin, native of Letter- deskert, and Patt Madden, native of Mweenish Island, who stand charged with having, on the 26th November, 1885, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Moyrus, assaulted Michael M'Donough, causing his life to be in danger:— 1. Smart active appearance, moustache lately clipped short, full red beard, regular nose, fair com- plexion, thin freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 10£ inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round hat, brown coat ( much worn) j is a farmer's son. 2. Good looking, slight dovrney beard and mous- tache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; dressed in Connemara frieze, which is gray; is a farmer's son and fisherman. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, thin faqe, slight active make, 6 feet high, about 20 or 21 years of age, dark brown hair; worw a soft hat. It is believed he has received gun- shot wounds on the face and legs. Killarney, Nov. 16, 1885'. ( 71488 o.— 23399.) Kildare. DESCRIPTION of a person, name supposed to be Patrick Nieill, native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 16th December, 1885, at Naas, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, carried away from the house of Thomas Dunne, where he lodged, a dark plaid trowsers, leather casing for back of heels, black frieze patch on 6eat, well worn; a brown dress coat, nearly new, corded with a little red mixture, pocket behind, gray salvage behind at split, wanting a button at each side of breast; a new hard felt black hat, low crown, Dame- street, Dublin, marked on label, inside ; a strong oak stick, turned- top ( brass ferrule, with holes in it, made out of a cock s— Small brown eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, shaven face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore the above described clothes, and carries the stick; is a navvy. This man had two sheep in his possession supposed to have been stolen. Warrant for arrest, in the hands of the District Inspector at Naas. Naas, December 19, 1885. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having on the 16th day of October, 1885, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, broken and entered the dwelling house of John Howe, and carried away therefrom one pair of button and one pair of elastic gentletpan's boots ( nearly new), a cotton sheet, and a German Flute :— 1. Fair complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, and dark trowsers; barefooted ; is a tramp. 2. Fair hair; wore a short blue coat. They have been traced in the direction of Dublin. Naas, October 18, 1885. ( 70933 C.— 22634.) DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown ( but who calls himself John Kelly and says he is from Castlecomer), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 5th or morning of the 6th November, 1885, in the barony of Shillelagher, parish of Burnchurch, stolen a set of pony tackling, since recovered, out of Patrick Brophy's stable, of Ballymack Desert, and pawned them in Kilkenny. He is also supposed to have stolen tackling from Tullowbrien in same county:— Broad shoulders, has the appearance of a collier, dark complexion, stout make. 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair and whiskers; wore a soft hat and blue sack coat. DESCRIPTION of Mary FitzGibbon ( name supposed fictitious), native place unknown, supposed Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 17th De- cember, 1888, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of St. Patrick's, stolen a suit of clothes, the property of Thomas Gough, of Rhebogue, which was subsequently foond in a pawn office in city of Limerick. Dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 28 or 80 years of age, black hair; wore a gray shawl, - elastic boots, and black dress. Limerick, Dec. 19, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Margaret Sweeney, native of the county Donegal, wh « stands oharged with having, on the 18th day of November, 1886, in the barony of Tirkeiran, parish of Clondermott, abandoned her child, about seven days old, in Bond's Field, town- land of clooney, and thereby endangered its life :— Freckled face, 5 feet high, about 19 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black dress with white frills around the wrists, and a dark shawl, she wears nothing on her head ; is a labouring woman. DESCRIPTION of James Neenan, native of Cortoon, Tuam, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Costello, parish of Aghamore, with stealing 3 sheep and 8 lambs off the lands of Cooge Middle, county Mayo, the property of Michael and Thomas Caulfield. Warrant in the hands of District- Inspector, Tuam:— Dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a hard felt hat, frieze brown coat, cord trowsers. This man is rather good- looking. He deals in sheep, attends fairs in Mayo, Roscommon, and Galway, accompanied by his wife. Swinford, Nov. 13, 1885. ( 71369 23292.) Meath. DESCRIPTION of James Gavan, native of Phillips- town, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 8rd day of November, 1885, in the barony of Upper Navan, parish of Trim, committed bigamy :— Rather good- looking, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a long black coat, old tweed trowsers, and vest; is an itinerant tinker, chiefly travels about the counties of Meath, Westmeath, and King's, works at his trade in towns he goes to. DESCRIPTION of James M'Dermott ( mother's sur- name Molloy), native of Mountpleasant, Strokestown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of November, 1885, at Strokestown, in the barony of Roscommon, parish of Bumlin, seriously assaulted Bartholomew Daly, thereby endangering his life:— Dark eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, black hair turning gray; wore a hard felt hat, dark frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place un- known, but calls himself Campbell, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 17th December, 1885, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Dorrha, stolen a sheep, the property of Mr. Thomas Slattery, and sold it to a butcher in Nenagh, and immediately left in the direction of Limerick:— Dark e^ es, flat nose dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 to 48 years of age, black hair; wore a dark green coat, trowsors, and vest ( tweed), carried on his arm a twilled waterproof overcoat, wore an imitation gold watch chain; speaks with a Scotch accent, and looks like a steward. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having on the night of the llth December, 1885, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Kilmore, been two Moonlighters, armed with revolvers, who entered the house of Denis Manning, of Ballincur, and forcibly took therefrom a double- barrelled gun; one of the Moonlighters presented a revolver at Manning, and the other man fired a shot from revolver out of the 1. Tuft of bpar, 4 on chin, black moustache, cut short, coarse face as if in the habit o shaving, dark complexion, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, wore a soft hat, faded, especially the band, dark frieze coat, dark trowsers, hat drawn over the face. 2. No beard on face, fair complexion, soft face, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 21 years of age. Description of the gun :— Double- barrelled muzzle- loading gun, loaded in both barrels, and capped; Trulock, Parliament- street, Dublin, on lock- plate; a bit of cork on end of ramrod. DESCRIPTION of a pony, the property of Thomas Marsh, which was stolen off the public road between Scoby and Enniscorthy, parish of Templescoby, barony of Bantry, on or about the 1st December, 1885 :— A. brown gelding pony, about 12 hands high, ten or 12 years old, in good condition, small gray spot on point of right shoulder; a straddle mark, shell of hooves of fore feet raised off, the result of blisters, lame on fore feet, and value for about £ 3. This pony wants a front tooth in upper jaw, the owner considers it was stolen by " blackguards" or bad characters, who may have sold it in some distant county. The pony is full of antics. It likes to hear music and would run to the beating of a drum, and can unlatch a door with tis mouth. Enniscorthy, December 20, 1885. DESCRIPTION of a pony, the property of Thomas Marsh, which was stolen off the public road between Enniscorthy and Scoby, parish of Templescoby, barony of Bantry, on the 1st day of December, 1885 ;— A brown gelding pony, about ten or twelve hands high, eleven years old, wants a front tooth in upper jaw, has a small gray spot on point of right shoulder, a straddle mark, lame in fore feet, shell of hooves raised from being blistered; value for £ 3. This pony is fond of hearing music, and would run to where a drum was beating. It can open a door by taking the latch in its mouth. DESCRIPTION of James Gammell, native of Kil- coole, who stands charged with having, on the 27th of September, 1885, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcoile, committed a rape on one Esther Byrne, of same townland, and who failed to appear and take his trial at the Leinster Assizes, at Wicklow, on 10th day of December, 1885, in answer to his bail, and who has since absconded :— Cast in one eye, supposed left, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long thin face, slender make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, brown hair ; wore a small black hard hat, black cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers, old browu seal vest; is a shoemaker.
