WANTED at Perth, under a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with fraud, committed at railway stations in thi- i county, during the past month ;— W. D. Gordon or Gorman ( supposed fictitious), about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches in height, brown hair and whiskers all round, and heavy moustache ; has a marked peculiarity about his left eye, which is appa- rently blind ; of gentlemanly appearance, and speaks with an English accent. Dress:— Brown checked tweed jacket, vest, and trowsers, light gray stalking cap, elastic- sided boots, or sometimes cricket shoes. Accused travels about the country representing himself to station agents and hotel- keepers that he is ou his way to inspect an estate which he intends to purchase, and has just discovered that he left his purse behind him, by which means be obtains a small sum of money to purchase his railway ticket. The Police are requested to make special search and inquiry for this man, and to warn station agents and hoiel- keepers as to same, and in the event of his being found, to apprehend, and detain, and wire to the subscriber, who will at once send an officcr for him. Carl Lemong alias Charles Hotzel ( housebreaking and robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd October, 1885. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. PARTICULARS relative to convict William M'Manus, convicted at Armagh, county Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on the 8th December, 1881, for Larceny, and sentenced tn 5 years penal servitude ; 51 years of age on conviction, single, is a dealer, born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction :— Gray hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, medium mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 6 inches high, left leg has been ulcerated. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on Licence, 16th November, 1885; and went to Cork, which place he left on the 22nd nit., without reporting same to Police, and it is stated he went to Fermoy. In the event of his arrest he shoald fce dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 and 35 Yic, cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 10, 1885. ( 31669 M— 59307.) PARTICULARS relative to convict Catherine M'Donagh, B. 87, convicted at Castlebar, county Mayo, at Quarter Sessions, on 28th June, 1882, for Larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude ; 61 years of age on conviction, married, born at Ballinasloe, resided before conviction at Castlebar, his friends reside at Swinford:— Sandy hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, thick long nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet i inch high. + on both hands, cut on left temple and cut mark under both eyes. This woman was released on licence from Grange- gorman Prison, 31st October, 1885, and went to Foxford, which place she left on the 6th ultimo, and stated she was going to Headford, but she has not reported herself at the latter place and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest sbe should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 36 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 10, 1885. 31670 M.— 59308.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict james Hearty, A378, convicted at Armagh, at the Winter Assizes, on 5th December, 1P8I. for cattle- stealing, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude : — 23 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at (' rossmaglen, county Armagh, resided before con- viction at Crossmaglen, county Armagh, where his friends reside ; black hair, blue eyes, black eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high. This roan was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 19th November, 1885, and went to Dublin. He reported himself on same date to the Metropolitan Police, and then said he had no fixed residence, but that he would call back the next morning and give his address. He has not done so up to the present and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. PARTICULARS relative to convict James Slattery, convicted at Cork, in the county of the city of Cork, at the Munster Winter Assizes, 8th December, 1881, for wounding, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 34 years of age on conviction ; single, is a farmer, born in Clare, where he resided before conviction, his friends reside in New York; brown hair, turning gray, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, has lost three front upper teetb, slightly pockmarked. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, on Licence, 17th November, 1885, and went to' Clare, which place he left on the 20th ult., without notifying same to Police, and went by rail to Limerick. His present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th Sec. of the Act 34 and 30 Yic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 3, 1885. ( 31645 m.— 59235.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict Samuel Robinson, 10,888, convicted at Dundalk, county Loutb, at the Spring Astizes, on the 5th March, 1878, for larceny of sheep, alter previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude;— 45 years of age, is married, is a shoemaker, born at Larne, county Antrim, resided before conviction at Togher, county Louth; his friends reside in France; brown hair, turning gray, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 6 j inches high; cut mark on left hand, lost one lower and three upper front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, the 4th inst., and went to reside at 4, Ryder's row, Dublin, which place he left on or about tbe 10th inst., without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts i3 unknown. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Reidy, A305, convicted in Limerick City, at Summer Assizes, on 8th July, 1881, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; resided before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, black eye- brows, regular nose, small mouth, sallow com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 6i inches high; Indian head tattooed on right torearm, and J. R. on left; star, shamrock, woman's head, cross, and ring, on left hand. This man was released from Mounijoy Prison, 16th September, 1885, and went to reside at Limerick. He has failed to report himself since 18th Sept- ember, 1885, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 A 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, November 12,1885: ( 31541 m.— 58961.) DESCRIPTION Of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sunl of £ 2,391 lis. 10d. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, • o THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, DECEMBER 11, 1885. fair hair, 110 beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for tho Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. Richard Mayes, native of Lisburn ( charged with having, on the night of the 5th September, 1885, committed a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th September, 1885. Young offender, Andrew G. Armstrong, not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 29th September, 1886. Joseph Clarke ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th July, 1886. Belfast. DESCRIPTION of a woman, name unknown, sup- posed native of about Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankbill, committed infanticide:— A wart on upper part of right eye- lid, gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a black straw hat, with bunch of imitation grapes or berries on it, dark dress, black and white striped petticoat, faded red and black shawl; is sup- posed to be a servant. Was accompanied by a little boy, one- and- a- half years old, who was dresssed in bide serge trimmed with gold lace, and a row of buttons down front of it, boy dark and good- looking, and mother stated his name was James M'Cauley. Philip Brady, alias the Gunner ( serious assault), has surrendered, and been bailed; Hue- and- Cry, 24th November, 1885. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 19th May, 1885. James Murtagh ( robbery of money), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ory, 13th March, 1886. Cork. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Sheridan, alias Hogan, native place unknown, who stands charged with haviug, on the 80th November, 1885, in the barony of Fertnoy, parish of Bridgetown, entered the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Clancy, and forcibly robbed a servant named Norah Lawlor of four shillings:— Pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 45 years of age ; wore an old dark gray sh* wl on head, and an old- fashioned cloak with hood, was barefooted and accompanied by Tier children a boy and three girls ; is a tinker's wife. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Quinn, native of Farran, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th November, 1885, at Ballydrideen, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Aglishdrinagh and Ballycokery, been one of a party of men, who called at the houses of several persons and demanded arms and money:— Down looking appearance, gray or blue eyes, straight nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, daik brown hair, black moustache, shaves all his face ; wore a low black felt hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. John Casey ( burglary), described in Hue- and- Cry of 23rd June last, not arrested. Daniel connor ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 26th May, 1885. John Sullivan ( alias Hunt) ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st May, 1885. Donegal John Campbell, alias Ward, alias Gallagher ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd Sep- tember, 1885. Neil O'Donnell ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th June, 1885. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of Charles Manly, native of Ballina- barney, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, between the months of March and July, 1884, in the barony of Nettercross, parish of Swords, stolen from the residence of John Hely Hutchenson, Esquire, J p., by whom he was employed as a herd, two Indian carved ivory hair brushes, value £ 20; a French cashmere shawl, value £ 7 ; and some books. Some of the property has been recovered:— Lump on back of right shoulder, which is higher than the left, down- looking appearance, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, thin dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and light tweed vest; belongs to Wicklow Militia ; is a herd and groom. Balbriggan, November 1, 1885. ( 71185 o.— 22307.) Fermanagh. James Cassidy ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 8rd October, 1884. Five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 29th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiney, parish of Killiney, been fWe t> f a party of armed and disguised moonlightSTs who entered, the house of Jeremiah ScanlaD, of Maghera- beg, and did forcibly take therefrom a single barrel gun with some powder and shot, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th October, 1885. A fowling piece, a briar- root pipe, and a powder flask, the property of Daniel Griffin, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 6th October, 1885, have not been recovered. The two persons, names and native places un- known, charged with having assaulted Michael Corcoran, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 19th of June last, have not been arrested. Five persons, names and native places un- known, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, & c., have not been arrested, nor the arms recovered; Hue and- Cry, 24th April, 1885. Denis Lyons ( posting threatening notices), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1884. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 16th day of October, 1885, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, broken and entered the dwelling house of John Howe, and carried away therefrom one pair of button and one pair of elastic gentleman's boots ( nearly new), a cotton sheet, and a German Flute :— 1. Fair complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, and dark trowsers; barefooted ; is a tramp. 2. Fair hair ; wore a short blue coat. They have been traced in the direction of Dublin. Naas, October 18, 1885. ( 70933 c.— 22634.) Anthony Byrne, believed fictitious ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, 1885. Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 81st October, 1884. Kilkenny. Galway. DESCRIPTION of John Mulkerrin, native of Letter- deskert, and Patt Madden, native of Mweenish . Island, who stand charged with having, on the 26th November, 1885, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Moyrus, assaulted Michael M'Donough, causing his life to be in danger :— 1. Smart active appearance, moustache lately clipped short, full red beard, regular nose, fair com- plexion, thin freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 10£ inches high, about 80 years of age, brown hair ; wore a hard round hat, brown coat ( much worn); is a farmer's son. 2. Good looking, slight downey beard and mous- tache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, medium make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; dressed in Connemara frieze, which is gray; is a farmer's son and fisherman. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, thin face, slight active make, 6 feet high, about 20 or 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft hat. It is believed he lias received gun- shot wounds on the face and legs, Killarney, Nov. 16, 1885. ( 71488 o.— 23399.) The four persons, names unknown, supposed natives of Keel or Lack, near Castlemaine, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 26th and morning of the 97th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parishes of Kilgobbin and Killiney. in company with other armed and disguised moonlighters, numbering about fourteen or fifteen, feloniously attacked the houses of seventeen farmers, and forcibly carried away therefrom various sums of money, a single barrelled muzzle- loading Enfield Rifle < fcc., and attempted to swear some of the farmers against paying rent, not arrested,; Hue- and Cry, 6th October, 1885. DESCRIPTION of a man, name, and native place unknown ( but who calls himself John Kelly and says he is from Castlecomer), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 5th or morning of the 6th November, 1885, in. the barony of Shillelagher, parish of Burnchurch, stolen a set of pony tackling, since recovered, out of Patrick Brophy's stable, of Ballymack Desert, and pawned them in Kilkenny. He is also supposed to have stolen tackling from Tullowbrien in same county :— Broad shoulders, has the appearance of a collier, dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair and whiskers; wore a soft hat and blue 8ack coat Callan, Nov. 13, 1885. ( 71508 c.— 23332.) Martin Kelly ( robbery of clothing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th July, 1885. James Farrell ( absconded from Urlingford Union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th May, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. Leitrim. Four men, names and native places unknown, ( who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, of Fahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun), described in the Hue- and- Cry, of the 12th of May, not arrested. John M'Morrow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, ( failed to appear at Dowra Petty Sessions, to give evidence in a case of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms, as bound by his recognizance), not arrested ; Hue- aod- Cry, 19th May, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Margaret Sweeney, native of the county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of November, 1885, in the barony of Tirkeiran, parish of Clondermott, abandoned her child, about seven days old, in Bond's Field, town- land of Olooney, and thereby endangered its life :— Freckled face, 5 feet high, about 19 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black dress with white frills around the wrists, and a dark shawl, she wears nothing on her head; is a labouring woman. DESCRIPTION of Louis Keenan ( mother's surname Quigley), and Francis Branuigan ( mother's surname M'Ardle), natives of Castleblayney, who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of November, 1885, in the barony of Cremorne, parish of Muckno, escaped from the Police when allowed to go to their home for a change of clothing, from the Petty Sessions Court, where they had been convicted of assault on a man named M'Bride, and sentenced to a month each in Dundalk Gaol with hard labour:— 1. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 18th November, 1885, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow:— John Newsome, No. 1,961 ; about 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feet high, tall make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; cut merk on forehead and the letters " J. N." tattooed on left arm. Formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin. His parents are dead. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth ( Scotch make) cap, strong and nailed boots, No. 1,961. As the above jacket has been found near the pre- mises it is presumed the boy has got some other sort of jacket or coat.
