THE Police Gazette, OR HUE- AND- CRY, Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. All Notices intended for insertion in tho Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to tho Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward tho Informations to tho Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated naturo will bo inserted. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it wil' > c necessary to forward ono of tho covers, or givo tho number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. WANTED at Perth, under a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with fraud, committed at railway stations in this county, during the past month ;— W. D. Gordon or Gorman ( supposed fictitious), about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches in height, brown hair and whiskers all round, and heavy moustache ; has a marked peculiarity about his left eye, which is appa- rently blind; of gentlemanly appearance, and speaks with an English accent Dress:— Brown checked tweed jacket, vest, and trowsors, light gray stalking cap, elastic- sided boots, or sometimes cricket shoes. Accused travels about the country representing himself to station 8gents and hotel- keepers that he is on his way to inspect an estate which he intends to purchase, and has just discovered that he left his purse behind him, by which - means he obtains a small sum of money to purchase his railway ticket. The Police are requested to make Special search and inquiry " for this man, and to warn station agents and hotel- keepers as to same, and in the event of his being found, to apprehend, and detain, and wire to the subscriber, who will at onco send an officcr for him. OITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. _ The if^ oles of jewellery stolen on the afternoon or night of the 5th, or morning of the 6th September, from the sale- room occupied by Mr. Walter Semple, Jeweller, St. Enoch's- lane, 145, Argyle- street, in this city, have not been recovered, see Hue- and- Cry of 11th September} 1885. WELSH POLICE. Carl Lemong alias Charles Hotzel ( housebreaking and robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd October, 1885. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Samuel Robinson, 10,888, convicted at Dundalk, county Louth, at the Spring Assizes, on the 5th March, 1878, for larceny of sheep, after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude:— 45 years of age, is married, is a shoemaker, born at Larne, county Antrim, resided before conviction at Togher, county Louth; his friends reside in France; brown hair, turning gray, hazel eyes, - raga'TO _____ oval visage, Stout rfTaTte, 5 feet 6| inches high; cut mark on left hand, lost one lower and three upper front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, the 4th inst., and went to reside at 4, Ryder's- row, Dublin, which place he left on or about the 10th inst., without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with tinder the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 26, 1885. ( 31609 M.— 59118.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Reidy, A805, convicted in Limerick City, at Summer Assizes, on 8th July, 1881, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; resided before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, black eye- brows, regular nose, small mouth, sallow com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; Indian head tattooed on right forearm, and J. R. on left; star, shamrock, woman's head, cross, and ring, on left hand. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 16th September, 1885, and went to reside at Limerick. He has failed to report himself since 18th Sept- ember, 1885, and his present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29tli August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,891 lis. lOrf. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from Ms office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. DESCRIPTION of a woman, name unknown, sup- posed native of about Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, committed infanticide:— A wart on upper part of right eye- lid, gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a black straw hat, with bunch of imitation grapes or berries on it, dark dress, black and white striped petticoat, faded red and black shawl; is sup- posed to be a servant. Was accompanied by a little boy, one- and- a- half years old, who was dresssed in blue serge trimmed with gold lace, and a row of buttons down front of it, boy dark and good- looking, and mother stated his name was James M'Cauley. DESCRIPTION of Phillip Brady, alias the Gunner, native of Drumbarry, who stands charged with having, on the night of 12th November, J8S5, in the barony of Upper Loughter, parish of Urney, that he with others ( in custody), seriously assaulted Michael and Pat Fay, and James Boyle :— Very stout for height, walks shubby working the shoulders, very sallow dirty looking face, wore a dark brown beard, apparently never shaved, gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8J or 9 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed home made frock coat, tweed or corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest: is a farmer. Dublin. v DESCRIPTION of a cow, the propei„ y of Thomas Plunkett, j. p., of Portmarnock, which was stolen off his land at Grange, parish of Portmai nock, barony of Coolock, on the 20th or 21st November, 1885 :— A pale red cow, with white spots on body, light looped horns, 5 years old, springing to calf in January next; value £ 16. DESCRIPTION of Charles Manly, native of Ballina- barney, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, between the months of March and July, 1884, in the barony of Nettercross, parish of Swords, stolen from tho residence of John Hely Hutchenson, Esquire, J p., by whom he was employed as a herd, two Indian carved ivory hair brushes, value £ 20; a French cashmere shawl, value £ 7 ; and some books. Some of the property has been recovered :— Lump on back of right shoulder, which is higher than the left, down- looking appearance, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, thin dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and light tweed vest; belongs to Wicklow Militia ; is a herd and groom. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th Novetnbor, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, thin face, slight active make, 6 feet high, about 20 or 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft hat. It is believed he has received gun- shot wounds on the face and legs. Killarnoy, Nov. 16, 1885. ( 71488 o.— 23399.) The four persons, names unknown, supposed natives of Keel or Lack, near Castlemaine, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 26th and morning of the 27th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parishes of Kilgobbin and Killiney, in company with other armed and disguised moonlighters, numbering about fourteen or fifteen, feloniously attacked the houses of seventeen farmers, and forcibly carried away therefrom various sums of money, a single barrelled muzzle- loading Enfield Rifle & c., and attempted to swear some of the farmers against paying rent, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th October, 1885. Five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of. the 29th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiney, parish of Killiney, been five of a party of armed and disguised moonlighters who entered the house of Jeremiah Scanlan, of Maghera- beg, and did forcibly take therefrom a single barrel gun with some powder and shot, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th October, 1835. A fowling piece, a briar- root pipe, and a powder flask, the property of Daniel Griffin, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 6th October, 1885, have not been recovered. ' The two persons, names and native places un- known, charged with having assaulted Michael Corcoran, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 19th of June last, have not been arrested. Five persons, names and native places un- known, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, Ac., have not been arrested, nor the arms recovered; Hue and- Cry, 24th April, 1885. Kildare DESCRIPTION of John M'Dermott, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 9th November, 1885, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Carbury, stolen three bullocks, the property if Dr. G. Sale, Newpark, from off the lands of Coolcor ( one bullock has been recovered):— Walks with a halt, fair complexion, red face, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore a hard jerry hat, light tweed coat, dark trowsers ( bits on knees); is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 16th day of October, 1885, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, broken and entered the dwelling house of John Howe, and carried away therefrom one pair of button and one pair of elastic gentleman's boots ( nearly new), a cotton sheet, and a German Flute :— 1. Fair complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, and dark trowsers; barefooted ; is a tramp. 2. Fair hair ; wore a short blue coat. They have been traced in the direction of Dublin. Naas, October 18, 1885. ( 70933 c.— 22634.) Anthony Byrne, believed fictitious ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, 1885. Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- aud- Cry, 31st October, 1884. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of a man, name, and native place unknown ( but who calls himself John Kelly and says he is from Castlecomer), who stands charged with having, on the night of ihe 5th or morning of the 6th November, 1885, in the barony of Shillelagh or, parish of Burnchurch, stolen a set of pony tackling, since recovered, out of Patrick Brophy's stable, of' Ballymack Desert, and pawned them in Kilkenny. He is also supposed to have stolen tackling from Tullowbrien in same county:— Broad shoulders, has the appearance of a collier, dark complexion, stout mako, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair and whiskers; wore a soft hat and blue SQiClt coat. James Farrell ( absconded from Urlingford Union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th May, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. Leitrim. Four men, names and native places unknown, ( who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, of Fahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun), described in the Hue- and- Cry, of the 12th of May, not arrested. John M'Morrow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, ( failed to appear at Dowra Petty Sessions, to give evidence in a care of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms, as bound by his recognizance), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of James O'Brien ( mother's surnamo Finucane), and Patrick Redden ( mother's surnamo Guerin), natives of Limerick City, who stand chargod with having, on the night of 24th November, 1885, in the barony of Limerick, parish of St. John's, assaulted and robbed John Mackey of nine shillings and threepence:— 1. Pockpitted, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, light brown hair ; wore a hard felt hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest : is a corner boy. 2. Wants an upper front tooth, brown eyes, long nose, pale complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a corner boy. Limerick, Nov. 26, 1885. ( 71725 c.— 23647.) DESCRIPTION of George Fairbairn, alias George Brown, alias George King, native ol London, who stands charged with having, on the 25th November, 1885, in the barony of Shanid, parish of Kilfergus, been suspected of committing crime, and tailed to give a satisfactory account of himself. He states that the Nottingham Board of Guardians, got, a Warrant issued against him, for deserting his wife and children, about two years ago. He has been remanded to Limerick Gaol for 8 days pending inquiry :— Five teeth out of upper jaw in front of mouth, five dots of Indian Ink on left wrbt, round shoulders, good looking, gray eyes, regular no? e, fresh slight make, 6 feet high, about 35 ig^^ Is a plasterer. DESCRIPTION of four head of cattle, the property of Michael Kelly, which were stolen from off his farm, at Friarstown, parish of Caherilly, barony of Clan- william, on the night of 24th instant:— 1. Eight yeais' old red stripper, drooped boms; value for £ 11. 2. Six years' old red stripper, white stripe on one shoulder, " J. R. K." branded on right horn; value for £ 11. 3. Two and a half years' old heifer, yellow colour, a shell off one horn ; value for £ 10. 4. Two and a half years' old heifer, spotted red and white ; value for £ 10. Bruff, Nov. 26, lb85. Mulligan, alias M'Mahon ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 5th May, 1885. Alfred Nelson Brayne ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 10th March, 1885. Londonderry. DESCRIPTION of Margaret Sweeney, native of the county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of November, 1885, in the barony of Tirkeiran, parish of Clondermott, abandoned her child, about seven days old, in Bond's Field, town- land of Clooney, and thereby endangered its life :— Freckled face, 5 feet high, about 19 years of age. fair hair ; wore a black dress with white frills around the wrists, and a dark shawl, she wears nothing on her head ; is a labouring woman. DESCRIPTION of James Neenan, native of Cortoon, Tuam, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Costello, parish of Aghamore, with stealing 8 sheep and 3 lambs off the lands of Cooge Middle^ ounty Mayo, the property of Michael and Thomas Caulfield. DESCRIPTION of James Gavan, native of Phillips- town, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd day of November, J 885, in the barony of Upper Navan, parish of Trim, committed bigamy :— Rather good- looking, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a long black coat, old tweed trowsers, and vest; is an itinerant tinker, chiefly travels about the counties of Meath, Westmeath, and King's, works at his trade in towns he goes to. DESCRIPTION of Louis Keenan ( mother's surname Quigley), and Francis Brannigan ( mother's surname M'Ardle), nativos of Castleblayney, who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of November, 1885, in tho baronv of Cremorne, parish of Muckno, escaped from the Police when allowed to go to their home for a change of clothing, from the Petty Sessions Court, where they had been convicted of assault on a man named M'Bride, and sentenced to a month each in Dundalk Gaol with hard labour:— 1. Slight stoppage in speech, speaks quick, and wants somo of the front teeth, no hair on face, very slight fair moustache, wild gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inchoi high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard round felt hat, light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, elastic boots; a private gentleman. 2. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 18th November, 1885, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow:— John Newsome, No. 1,961 ; about 15 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feet high, tall make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; cut mark on forehead and the letters " J. N." tattooed on left arm. Formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin. His parents are dead. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth ( Scotch make) cap, strong and nailed boots, No. l, 96l. As the above jackct has been found near the pre- mises it is presumed the boy has got some other sort of jacket or coat.
