Drancourt ( embezzle- ment), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1885. SCOTCH POLICE PERTHSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED at Perth, under a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with fraud, committed at railway stations in this county, during the past month :— W. D. Gordon or Gorman ( supposed fictitious), about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches in height, brown hair and whiskers all round, and heavy moustache; has a marked peculiarity about his left eye, which is appa- rently blind; of gentlemanly appearance, and speaks with an English accent. Dress:— Brown checked tweed jacket, vest, and trowsers, light gray stalking cap, elastic- sided boots, or sometimes cricket shoes. Accused travels about the country representing himself to station agents and hotel- keepers that he is on his way to inspect an estate which ue intends to purchase, and has just discovered that he left his purse behind him, by which means he obtains a small sum of money to purchase his railway ticket. The Police are requested to make special search and inquiry for this man, and to warn station agents and hotel- keepers as to same, and in the event of his being found, to apprehend, and detain, and wire to the subscriber, who will at once send an officer for him. About 9 silver brooch chains ( ladies') different patterns, with silver tassels. About 18 gent's silver Alberts, various patterns, including curb, fetter, dog, and Prince of Wales patterns. 6 dozen solid silver keeper rings, " hall " marked, some plain, some buckle, and others engraved patterns. 6 dozen gent's 9 carat gold signet rings, different kinds of stones, some of them Masonic^ 3 dozen ladies' gold stone rings of different kinds. About a dozen of small silver appendages, including drums, crosses, button- hooks, and boats. About 2 dozen gold plated appendages, same pattern as silver appendages. 2 dozen 9 carat gold keeper rings, engraved patterns. About 4 « . in silver and copper money, and a small willow basket, square shape, black and white mixed, two leather straps for fastening, and leather handle on top; and 2 small nickel silver alarm clocks, round shape, nickel silver bell, and brass ring on top, white dial about 4 inches diameter, seconds hand on dial, two small brass feet, two brass keys, one for winding movement the other for winding alarm, and two small knob screws at back. Entrance was obtained to a sunk area behind the shop by means of overcoming a lock- fast gate and a lock- fast door, then to a cellar underneath the shop by racking the iron stanchions of the window thereof by means of a rope and a piece of iron, by pushing up the lower sash of the window, which had been left unsnibbed, and entering thereat, and by proceeding up a trap stair from the cellar into the shop. The jewellery is of an inexpensive kind, but may be pledged with pawnbrokers or sold to brokers or dealers in cheap jewellery, or may be disposed of by licensed pedlars or licensed auctioneers. The value of the best of the stolen watches will not exceed £ 2. It is requested that the Police use every effort with a view to the recovery of the stolen property and the capture of the thieves, and that any information bearing on the subject be immediately communicated to the subscriber. The articles of jewellery stolen on the afternoon or night of the 5th, or morning of the 6th September, from the sale- room occupied by Mr. Walter Semple, Jeweller, St. Enoch's- lane, 145, Argyle- street, in this city, have not been recovered, see Hue- and- Cry of 11th September, 1885. RENFREWSHIRE CONSTABULARY. Philip Lynch ( homicide), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th June, 1^ 85. George Simpson, alias Kerr, miner or pit sinker, native of Lanarkshire, from 32 to 35 years of age ( robbery of jewellery and clothing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 7th April, 1885. Carl Lemong alias Charles Hotzel ( housebreaking and robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd October, 1885. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. Qt Division. PARTICULARS relative to convict John Reidy, A305, convicted in Limerick City, at Summer Assizes, on 8th July, 1881, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; resided before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, black eye- brows, regular nose, small mouth, sallow com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; Indian head tattooed on right forearm, and J. R. on left; star, shamrock, woman's head, cross, and ring, on left hand. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 16th September, 1885, and went to reside at Limerick. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 24, 1885. He has failed to report himself since 18th Sept- ember, 1885, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 84 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, November 12,1685. ( 81541 M.— 58961.) DESCRIPTION of John James Moriarty, late a con- fidential runner in the Hibernian Bank, Dublin, who is wanted on Warrant here, for that he did, on the 29th August, 1885, unlawfully abscond and feloniously steal the sum of £ 2,391 lis. 10d. sterling, the money and property of the said Bank:— 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, florid complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, walks erect; dressed in ( supposed) yellowish tweed suit, and low brown jerry hat. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent Superintendent's Office, G Division, September 3, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his aceounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Earquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. James Watson ( rape), has been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th September, 1885. Hamilton Black ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th October, 1885. Richard Mayes, native of Lisburn ( charged with having, on the night of the 5th September, 1885, committed a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th September, 1885. Young offender, Andrew G. Armstrong, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 29th September, 1885. Joseph Clarke ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th July, 1885. Belfast. DESCRIPTION of a woman, name unknown, sup- posed native of about Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, committed infanticide:— A wart on upper part of right eye- lid, gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a black straw hat, with bunch of imitation grapes or berries on it, dark dress, black and white striped petticoat, faded red and black shawl; is sup- posed to be a servant. Was accompanied by a little boy, one- and- a- half years old, who was dresssed in blue serge trimmed with gold lace, and a row of buttons down front of it, boy dark and good- looking, and mother stated his name was James M'Cauley. DESCRIPTION of Phillip Brady, alias the Gunner, native of Drumbarry, who stands charged with having, o6 the night of 12th November, 1885, in the barony of Upper Loughter, parish of Urney, that he with others ( in custody), seriously assaulted Michael and Pat Fay, and James Boyle:— Very stout for height, walks shubby working the shoulders, very sallow dirty looking face, wore a dark brown beard, apparently never shaved, gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet or 9 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed home made frock coat, tweed or corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest ; is a farmer. This man has recently got a farm in Orumcor, adjacent to Drumhowna Railway Station, Sub- District of Scrabby. cavan, November 19, 1885. ( 71519 o.— 2 3349.) DESCRIPTION of an ass, the property of Thomas Nagle, which has been stolen from the lands of Blackwater, parish of St. Patrick's, and barony of Bunratty Lower, on the night of 26th or morning of 27th October, 1885:— A dark brown mare ass, black rings round her legs, mark on point of right shoulder, left leg inclined to turn out when walking, crack in hoof of left fore leg, about 6 years of age ; value for £ 1 10s. John Sullivan ( alias Hunt) ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st May, 1885. Donegal Henry Kerrigan ( dangerous assault), has surren- dered ; Hue- and- Cry, 25th September, 1885. John Campbell, alias Ward, alias Gallagher ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd Sep- tember, 1885. Neil O'Donnell ( assault endangering life), no* arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th June, 1885. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of Charles Manly, native of Ballina- barney, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, between the months of March and July, 1884, in the barony of Nettercross, parish of Swords, stolen from the residence of John Hely Hutchenson, Esquire, J. P., by whom he was employed as a herd, two Indian carved ivory hair brushes, value £ 20 ; a French cashmere shawl, value £ 7; and some books. Some of the property has been recovered:— Lump on back of right shoulder, which is higher than the left, down- looking appearance, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, thin dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and light tweed vest; belongs to Wicklow Militia; is a herd and groom. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Sullivan, native of Firies, who stands charged with others of having, on the night of the 13th November, 1885, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Molahiffe, murdered John O'C. Curtin:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nos^ Tresh com- plexion, thin face, slight active make, 6 feet high, about 20 or 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft hat It is believed he has received gun- shot wounds on the face and legs. Killarney, Nov. 16, 1885. ( 71488 o.— 23399.) The four persons, names unknown, supposed natives of Keel or Lack, near Castlemaine, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 26th and morning of the 27th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parishes of Kilgobbin and Killiney, in company with other armed and disguised moonlighters, numbering about fourteen or fifteen, feloniously attacked the houses of seventeen farmers, and forcibly carried away therefrom various sums of money, a single barrelled muzzle- loading Enfield Rifle lie., and attempted to swear some of the farmers against paying rent, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th October, 1885. Five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 29th September, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiney, parish of Killiney, been five of a party of armed and disguised moonlighters who entered the house of Jeremiah Scanlan, of Maghera- beg, and did forcibly take therefrom a single barrel gun with some powder and shot, not arrested; Hue- and- Ciy, 6th October, 1885. A fowling piece, a briar- root pipe, and a powder flask, the property of Daniel Griffin, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 6th October, 1885, have not been recovered. The two persons, names and native places un- known, charged with having assaulted Michael Corcoran, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 19th of June last, have not been arrested. Five persons, names and native places un- known, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, Ac., have not been arrested, nor the arms recovered; Hue and- Cry, 24th April, 1885. Denis Lyons ( posting threatening notices), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1884. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of John M'Dermott, native plaoe unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 9th November, 1885, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Carbury, stolen three bullocks, the property of Dr. G. Sale, Newpark, from off the lands of Coolcor ( one bullock has been recovered):— Walks with a halt, fair complexion, red face, 5 feet < j or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore a hard jerry hat, light tweed coat, dark trowsers ( bits on knees); is a labourer. Description of the two bullocks. 1. Red with white spots, straight horns, branded on © ne of the hips with letter " S," in fair condition ; value for £ 10. 2. same description but smaller than No. 1. Robertstown, Nov. 15, 1885. ( 71497 c.— 23321.) DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 16th day of October, 1885, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, broken and entered the dwelling house of John Howe, and carried away therefrom one pair of button and one pair of elastic gentleman's boots ( nearly new), a cotton sheet, and a German Flute :— 1. Fair complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 16 years , of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, and dark trowsers; barefooted ; is a tramp. 2. Fair hair; wore a short blue coat. They have been traced in the direction of Dublin. Naas, October 18, 1885. ( 70983 c.—- 22634.) Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 81st October, 1884. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of a man, name, and native place unknown ( but who calls himself John Kelly and says he is from Castlecomer), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 5th or morning of the 6th November, 1885, in the barony of Shillelagher, parish of Burnchurch, stolen a set of pony tackling, THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 24, 1885. sTnfce recovered, out of Patrick Brophy's stable, of Ballymack Desert, and pawned them in Kilkenny. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of a heifer calf, the property of Thomas Early, which was stolen from the lands of Keshcarrigan, parish of Kiltoghart, barony of Leitrim, on the night of the llth November, 1885 :— Eight months old, red colour with white spots on sides, star on forehead, in fair condition ; value for about £ 4. Carrick- on- Shannon, November, 16, 1885. ( 71553 c.— 23394.) Four men, names and native places unknown, ( who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, ofFahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun), described in the Hue- and- Cry, of the 12th of May, not arrested. John M'Morrow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, ( failed to appear at Dowra Petty Sessions, to give evidence in a case of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms, as bound by his recognizance), not arrested ; Hue- and- cry, 19th May, 1885. DESCRIPTION of James Neenan, native of Cortoon, Tuam, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 30th October, 1885, in the barony of Costello, parish of Aghamore, with stealing 3 sheep and 3 lambs off the lands of Cooge Middle, county Mayo, the property of Michael and Thomas Caulfield. Warrant in the hands of District- Inspector, Tuam:— Dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a hard felt hat, frieze brown coat, cord trowsers. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 18th November, 1885, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, county Wicklow :— John Newsome, No. 1,961 ; about 15 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feet high, tall make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; cut mark on forehead and the letters " J. N." tattooed on left arm. Formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin. His parents are dead. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth ( Scotchmake) cap, strong and nailed boots, No. 1,961. As the above jacket has been found near the pre- mises it is presumed the boy has got some other sort of jacket or coat. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 31581 M— 59020.)
