DUBLIN, FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 1885. ENGLISH POLICE. Bradley Haverstoe Association for the Prosecution of Felons. 20 GUINEAS REWARD. WHEREAS, between the 1st April and the 16th July last, some person or persons did feloniously steal and carry away four old and valuable oil paintings from \ Veelsby House, near Great Grimsby, vizs— A sea- side scene on the Dutch Coast, with a wreck, and women in short dresses ; in size, 8 feet wide by 18 inches deep, and in a carved oak gilded frame. . A landscape, showing a road, house, and trees; about 2 feet 10 inches square; in a gilt frame. Two others," Morning" and " Evening," each 2feet deep by 16 inches wide, with gilt moulded frames. Notice is hereby given, that the above reward will be paid to any person or persons who shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, that is to say :—£ 10 10 « . from Alexander W. WANTED in this borough, under Warrant for stealing the sum of £ 7, the monies of her master, on the 30th ultimo:— Minnie Magnum, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light frizzy hair, brown eyes ; is a servant; native of Cork, to which town she is believed to have gone. Dressed in a pink and white spotted print dress, trimmed with white lace, green and buff frieze tight- fitting jacket, hat trimmed with yellow feathers. WANTED in this borough, for forgery, Henry Chambers:— Age about 25 years, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, very slight moustache, pale complexion, sickly appear- ance ; a saddler by trade; belongs to Wolverton, Norfolk ; well known in King's Lynn. The above- described man absconded from this borough last light, or early this morning; it is thought he may endeavour to emigrate. Please cause every possible inquiry to be made at saddler's and harness- maker's, emigration agents, shipping offices, and other likely places, and, if found, apprehend, and wire, when an officer shall be sent for him. SCOTCH POLICE. DUMBARTONSHIRE CONSTABULARY. £ 5 REWARD. ESCAPED from custody on the 21st instant ( while being exhibited in Glasgow, for the purpose of identification, &<:.), charged with theft, and previous conviction ;— John Heron, alias James Hetherington, a native of Glasgow ; 21 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high ; a ship steward, formerly a boots and billiard marker in Hotels in Glasgow; swarthy complexion, dark hair, gray eyes, two moles on right side of neck, and a hole ( boil mark) on right cheek. Dressed in a blue serge jacket, vest, and trowsers ( brass button on vest), blue cap, with peak, and light elastic- sided boots; spoke with a Scotch accent, and has a smart appearance. He is well known to the Glasgow Police. "* Information to Chief Constable M'HARDY, Dum- barton, by whom the above Reward will be paid for his apprehension. County Police Office, Dumbarton, 24th August, 1885. ( 31101 M.— 58267.) COUNTY OF LANARK. STOLEN by means of housebreaking during the night of 14th and morning of 15th August, 1885, from Langmuir store, in this county. Entrance effected by wrenching the padlocks off the grocery and public- house doors:— Twenty- one shillings in copper, consisting of pence, halfpence, and one shilling in farthings. Fourteen pairs of boots, consisting of 12 pairs of men's and boys', having tackets; heel and toe- plates of various sizes; value from 3s. to 9s. per pair; and 2 pairs of ladies' elastic- sided, value 6s. per pair. Two pairs of men's Lorne shoes, plain soles; sizes 6 and 7; value 7S. 6d. per pair. A gray melton cloth overcoat, lined with gray lining, one inside pocket in left breast, three outside pockets with flaps, cloth- covered buttons to match, four or five rows of stitching on cuffs; well worn, and the collar greasy. * A dark tweed cloth vest, with red tick throughout, black plain composition buttons, red and white striped lining, three outside pockets ; in good condition. A roll of tobacco, weighing 5 lbs., of best black small twist Two clear quart bottles of whiskey, one having label " Mitchell's Old Irish Whiskey," with crown surrounded by Shamrock and Thistle, the other " Argyle Highland Whiskey," with view of Inverary and Pier; underneath, Whitelaw and Weir, Glasgow, proprietors. Information to Superintendent STEWART, Constabu- lary Office, Coatbridge. Hamilton, August 15,1885. ( 31059 M.— 58184.) RENFREWSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED at Paisley, charged with culpable homicide, Philip Lynch, a farm servant, native of Neilston, Renfrewshire, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height, brown hair, small whiskers on side of head, gray eyes, round full- faced, rather high cheek bones, fresh complexion, stout make, a little round shouldered. He was then dressed in dark gray tweed cap, with hooked- down peak, gray tweed jacket and trowsers, strong lacing boots; the dress of a farm servant. Accused, who left Rothesay, where he was working on a new road on 16th June curt., was last seen at Glasgow Agricultural Society Show, on 18th curt. He has been a farm servant in Eaglesham, East Kilbride, and Rutherglen. Special search is requested to be made for the accused, and if found, please to apprehend and detain him, and information by telegram or otherwise to be forwarded to the Chief Constable of Renfrewshire, Paisley. George Simpson, alias Kerr, miner or pit sinker, native of Lanarkshire, from 32 to 35 years' of age ( robbery of jewellery and clothing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 7th April, 1886. Licence- holder G 970, Alfred Evans, alias Tommy Good- for- Nothing ( failing to report), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1885. ( 29777 M.— 55205.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, JoiDt Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native of Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, on his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Thomas Boyle, A 145, convicted at Londonderry, county Londonderry, at the Hilary Sessions, on the 2nd January, 1880, for robbery ( has been previously convicted), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude ;— 53 years of age, can read and write a little, is' a Roman Catholic, married, is a labourer, born in Londonderry, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Strabane; brown hair turning gray, bald, blue eyes, brown heavy eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high; J tattooed on left side, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 1st June, 1885, and went to Strabane. He left Limavady on 23rd June for Ballymena, as he stated, but he has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. When leaving Limavady he had an ass and cart with him. In tho event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, July 30, 1885. ( 30960 M.— 58002.) English Policc Supervisee, David Cleary, otherwise Thomas Massicks, described in Hue- and- Cry of 2nd June last, has* been arrested and sentenced to 7 days imprisonment. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Clarke, native of Hannahs- town, who stands charged withhaving, on the 9th day of July, 1885, in the barony of Shankhill, parish of Upper Belfast, forced open a box and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 9 5s., the property of his master, Edward M'Quillan:— Gray eyes, long sharp nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, very slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 or 21 years of age; brown hair; wore a brown peaked cap tied with ribbon in front, brown cut- a- way coat, dark trowsers, brown vest, and white muffler; is a farm servant. Cunningham, which were described in the Hue- and- Ory of the 29tli of last May, have not been recovered. ( 69681 c.— 20871.) John Casey ( burglary), described in Hue- and- Cry of 23rd June last, not arrested. Daniel connor ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 26th May, 1885. John Sullivan ( alias Hunt) ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st May, 1885. Donegal. DESCRIPTION of John Campbell, alias Ward, alias Gallagher, native of Loughveen, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1885, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Inniskeel, stolen a heifer, since recovered. See Hue- and- Cry, dated 31st July, 1885 :— Nose drooped and slightly turned to one side, stutters, high cheek bones, whiskers recently shaved off, dark complexion, round face, 5 feet 5 inches high; about 40 years of age. DESCRIPTION of John Reilly ( mother's surname Cullinane), native of . Enoughter- Golun, who stands charged with having, on the 14th August, 1885, in the barony of West Division West Carbery, parish of Kilmore, committed an indecent assault on a girl, aged eighteen years :— No particular marks, but has a wild appearance, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, active make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 27 years of age, dork hair ; wore a soft black hat, black coat, gray trowsers, and dark vest; is a small farmer. DESCRIPTION of Neil O'Donnell, native of Anagry, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 17th June, 1885, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Templecrone, seriously assaulted one Hannagh O'Donnell, by striking her with his fist on the side, knocking her down and breaking her leg, and thereby endangering her life:— Gray eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black cap, gray faded tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Dublin. Patrick and Kate M'carthy ( charged with having stolen several articles of clothing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1885. DESCRIPTION of David Lenihan, native of Lisard, who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1885, in the barony of Barretts, parish of Grenagh, seriously assaulted Jeremiah Cashman, by fracturing his skull, from the effects of which he died on 7th instant:— Fresh cut mark on upper lip, smart active appearance, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 37 or 40 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face ; wore a low round hard hat, dark tweed coat, gray trowsers and vest; is ' a small farmer. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 25th July, 1885, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, Upton, county Cork :— Patrick Butler, No. 1,166, 17 years of age, about 4 feet 11 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, regular nose, medium mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Clonmel; his parents are beggars, The school dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, leather belt, Glenagarry cap, leather strapped boots, nailed. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of John Neill, native of Filane East, who stands charged with having, on tho 24th July, 1885, in the barony of Bere, parish of Kilaconnenagh, seriously assaulted Eliza Sullivan, by hitting her with a stone on the head, thereby endangering her life : Gray or blue eyes, short thick nose, fresh complexion, Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of Frank Prunty ( mother's sur- name Reilly), and John M'Manus ( mother's surname M'Cabe), natives of Derrykerrib Island, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd of August, 1885, at Edergole, in the barony of Coole, parish of Drum- mully, grievously assaulted one James Prunty. They were summoned to appear at Newtownbutler Petty Sessions, on 18th instant, and failing to appear were returned for trial:— 1. Very large drooped nose, active appearance, fresh complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of jewellery, the property of the late Captain Edward Barton, which was stolen between the 28rd December, 1884, and 15th April, 1885:— A diamond ring, value about £ 130— stone a large diamond, set round with row of small diamonds; antique gold ring— signet portion a hexagonal- shaped stone, with letters g I (?), sur- rounded by wreath, engraved on surface; antique ring of thin gold— signet portion ( modern) a large oval blue- tinted stone; a piece of Danish Ring- money. Martin Folan ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th September, 1884. Mary Bligh, alias Lynch, native of Ballymoe, who disappeared frpm her home, in the barony of Bally- moe, parish of Drumatemple, on or about the 9th January, 1884, has not been since heard of; Hue- and- Cry, 28th March, 1884. Patrick Killeen ( assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 29th April, 1884. Martin Coleman ( sending threatening letters), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st April, 1884. Kerry. The two persons, names and native places un- known, charged with having assaulted Michael Corcoran, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 19th of June last, have not been arrested. Five persons, names and native places un- known, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, Ac., have not been arrested, nor the arms recovered; Hue and- Cry, 24th April, 1885. Denis Lyons ( posting threatening notices), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1884. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Flanagan, native of Royal Oak, who, on the 24th February, 1885, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Ballinadrimna, strayed away from his employer at Moyvally while in a state of., insanity, and may do injury to himself:— Pearl on right eye, good- looking, erect carriage ; brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a felt hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. John Smith, name believed to be fictitious, charged with having stolen a silver watch, has been arrested and remanded ; Hue- and- Cry, 19th July, 1885. Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31st October, 1884. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of Henry Costello, of no fixed resi- dence, who stands charged with having, on the night of 15th or morning of 16th August, 1885, in the barony of Cranagh, parish of Freshford, stolen a silver lever watch ( No. not known), and leather guard mounted with steel, from the person of Thomas Griffith, of Freshford, county of Kilkenny, also about £ 2 in silver out of a drawers in Griffith's dwelling house:— Gray eyes, long thin nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 21 years of age ; dark hair; has » small brown moustache ; wore a tweed cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; tattooed on right wrist with the letters " C. James Farrell ( absconded from Urlingford Union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th May, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Kane, native of Prough- lish, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1885, in the barony of Leitrim, parish of Kiltubrid, assaulted and beaten one James M'Manus, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life :— Dark full eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, sharp thin face, smart active make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age, black hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Four men, names and native places unknown, ( who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, ofFahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun), described in the Hue- and- Cry, of the 12th of May, not arrested. John M'Morrow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, ( failed to appear at Dowra^ Petty Sessions, to give evidence in a case of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms^ s bound by his recognizance), not arrested; IIut- iMd- Cry, 19th May, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Michael Higgins, native of Tip- perary town, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of July, 1885, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Grean, stolen four blinds and two leather window straps from a first class railway carriage, the property of the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company :— Gray eye?, long nose, fair freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair ; wore a round hard bat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; caretaker recently in the employment of the Land Corporation Company. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police at Newpallas. Newpallas, August 13, 1885. ( 69938 c.— 21223.) P. J. Mulligan, alias M'Mahon ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 5th May, 1885. Alfred Nelson Brayne ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 10th March, 1885. Patrick Slattery ( robbery of a watch and money), the watch has been recovered and restored to the owner, but Slattery is still at large; Hue- and- Cry, 21st November, 1884. DESCRIPTION of an ass and cart, the property of Denis Devane, of Clogher, which were stolen from the lands of Clogher, parish of Clogher, and barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, on the night of 30th or morning of 31st July, 1885:— A mare ass, white colour, letter C. branded on left hind leg, shod on two forefeet. Cart nearly new, recently painted red, owner's name on shaft in white letters.
