WANTED in this borough, under Warrant for stealing the sum of £ 7, the monies of her master, on the 30th ultimo:— Minnie Magnum, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light frizzy hair, brown eyes; is a servant; native of Cork, to which town she is believed to have gone. Dressed in a pink and white spotted print dress, trimmed with white lace, green and buff frieze tight- fitting jacket, hat trimmed with yellow feathers. WANTED in this borough, for forgery, Henry Chambers:— Age about 25 years, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, very slight moustache, pale complexion, sickly appear- ance ; a saddler by trade; belongs to Wolverton, Norfolk ; well known in King's Lynn. The above- described man absconded from this borough last light, or early this morning'; it is thought he may endeavour to emigrate. Please cause every possible inquiry to be made at saddler's and harness- maker's, emigration agents, shipping offices, and other likely places, and, if found, apprehend, and wire, when an officer shall be sent for him. SCOTCH POLICE. RENFREWSHIRE CONSTABULARY. WANTED at Paisley, charged with culpable homicide, Philip Lynch, a farm servant, native of Neilston, Renfrewshire, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches in height, brown hair, small whiskers on side of head, gray eyes, round full- faced, rather high cheek bones, fresh complexion, stout make, a little round shouldered. Ho was then dressed in dark gray tweed cap, with hooked- down peak, gray tweed jacket and trowsers, strong lacing boots; tho dress of a farm servant Accused, who left Rothesay, where he was working on a new road on 10th June curt., was last seen at Glasgow Agricultural Society Show, on 18th curt. He has been a farm servant in Eaglesham, East Kilbride, and Rutherglen. Special search is requested to be made for the accused, and if found, please to apprehend and detain him, and information by telegram or otherwise to be forwarded to the Chief Constable of Renfrewshire, Paisley. George Simpson, alias Kerr, miner or pit sinker, native of Lanarkshire, from 32 to 35 years of age ( robbery of jewellery and clothing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 7th April, 1885. DESCRIPTION of Robert Farquharson, Joint Manager of the Munster Bank Dublin, and Agent for the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, Dublin, who disappeared from his residence about mid- day, on the 28th instant, and absconded from his office, leaving his accounts in an unsatisfactory state:— He is about 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, slightly tinged with gray, dark fresh complexion, good dark sparkling eyes, prominent teeth, average build, walks with a stoop, dressed in gentlemanly style, generally wears a silk hat; is a native pf Scotland. He is suspected of having embezzled over £ 10,000, property of the said Bank. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. In the above case the Liquidators of the Munster Bank ( Limited) will pay a reward of £ 500 for the arrest of the said Robert Farquharson, of his being delivered up to the Gaol Authorities in Dublin. DESCRIPTION of Henry English, a native of Tina- hely, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 25th July ult., at Donnybrook, seriously assaulted Andrew M'Auly, aged 70 years, from the effects of which he has since died. He is 28 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and complexion, moustache and face generally shaved; wears dark clothes; is a labourer and an Army Reserve man. Information to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. ( 69688 c.— 20928.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict Thomas Boyle, A 145, convicted at Londonderry, county Londonderry, at tho Hilary Sessions, on the 2nd January, 1880, for robbery ( has been previously convicted), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude ;— 53 years of age, can read and write a little, is a Roman Catholic, married, is a labourer, born in Londonderry, where he resided before conviction ; his friends reside at Strabane; brown hair turning gray, bald, blue eyes, brown heavy eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high; £ tattooed on left side, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 1st June, 1885, and went to Strabane. He left Limavady on 23rd June for Ballymena, as he stated, but he has not sinco reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. When leaving Limavady he had an ass and cart with him. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, July 30, 1885. ( 30960 M.— 58002.) PARTICULARS relative to English Police Supervisee, David Cleary, otherwise Thomas Massicks, convicted at Preston, county Lancaster Sessions, on 20th February, 1884, for stealing saw, level, and cloth case, and sentenced to 12 calendar months, and 5 years' Police supervision:— 25 years of age on conviction, is married, is a labourer or baker, born in Ireland, resided at Preston before conviction; brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 7^ inches high; two moles on left wrist and one right of belly. This is an English Police Supervisee. He left Cahir, county Tipperary, on 1st May, 1885, and stated that he was going to Tipperary, and thence to Cork, but he has not reported himself at either place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Clarke, native of Hannahs- town, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of July, 1885, in the barony of Shankhill, parish of Upper Belfast, forced open a box and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 9 5s., the property of his master, Edward M'Quillan :— Gray eyes, long sharp nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, very slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 or 21 years of age ; brown hair ; wore a brown peaked cap tied with ribbon in front, brown cut- a- way coat, dark trowsers, brown vest, and white muffler; is a farm servant. Cunningham, which were described in the Hue- and- Ory of the 29th of last May, have not been recovered. Carlow. Michael Doyle ( charged with having feloniously obtained a letter from the Post Office, Carlow, the property of James Carey), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1884. Cavan. Thomas Young ( homicide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. James Murtagh ( robbery of money), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, 1885. Clare. DESCRIPTION of Michael Crotty and Ellen Crotty ( mother's surname Behan), natives of Ross, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd of August, 1885, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilballyowen, seriously assaulted Mary Hickey, by striking her on the head with a piece of timber, thereby endangering her life:— 1, One arm short and slightly crooked, result of sprain at elbow, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair, turning gray; THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 18, 1885. wore an old black tweed patched coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. 2. Hugh Mulholland, who left his home on the 14th July, 1884, has not since been heard of; Hue- and- Cry, 21st October, 1884. John Carroll ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th October, 1884! make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a felt hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. ^^ Robertstown, March 29,1885. Anthony Byrne, believed fictitious ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, 1885. Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31 st October, 1884. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of Martin Kelly, native place un- known, but lived with farmers in Ballymack, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on tho night of 2nd or morning of 3rd July, 1885, in the barony of Shillelogher, parish of Earlstown, stolen a black serge frock coat and al brown tweed trowsors and vest, the property of John Dooley, of Castleave :— Brown eyes, regular nose, llorid complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abotrt 45 years of ago, brown hair; wore a round hard hat, dark coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. A Warrant for Kelly's arrest is in the hands of tho District Inspector at Callan. Description of articles stolen :— A black serge frock coat, with pockets on hips, and inside breast pocket, a tweed trowsers and vest, lined with white calico ; all nearly new, and value for about £ 2 Is. 6d. James Farrell ( absconded from Urlingford Union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 15th May, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, llth November, 1884. Leitrim. Four men, names and native places unknown, ( who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, ofFahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun), described in the Hue- and- Cry, of the 12th of May, not arrested. John M'Morrow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, ( failed to appear at Dowra Petty Sessions, to give evidence in a case of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms, as bound by his recognizance), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th May, 1885. Limerick. Daniel Leahy, who stands charged with having been one of a party of disguised and armed men, who took and carried away a gun, the property of Edward Fitzgerald, out of the dwelling- houso of Ellen Fitzgerald, has been arrested and remanded. Hue- and- Cry, 13th June, 1885. P. J. Mulligan, alias M'Mahon ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 5th May, 1885. Alfred Nelson Brayne ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 10th March, 1885. Patrick Slattery ( robbery of a watch and money), the watch has been recovered and restored to the owner, but Slattery is still at large; Hue- and- Cry, 21st November, 1884. Arthur M'Donagh and David Joyce, who stand charged with having, on the llth August, 1884, stolen a sum of money from the shop of Hugh Hogg not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 29th August. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the morning of the 2nd instant, in the barony of Costello, parish of Aughamore, stolen two ewe sheep and two lambs, the property of James Keane, of Barnahesker;— 1. Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair hair, small fair side whiskers ; wore a dark frieze coat, cord trovers, dark frieze vest. Came from the direction of Kilmoree on 1st instant. Cork. DESCRIPTION of David Lenihan, native of Lisard, who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1885, in the barony of Barretts, parish of Grenagh, seriously assaulted Jeremiah Cashman, by fracturing his skull, from the effects of which he died on 7th instant:— Fresh cut mark on upper lip, smart active appearance, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 37 or 40 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face ; wore a low round hard hat, dark tweed coat, gray trowsers and vest; is a small farmer. Mallow, August 6, 1885. ( 69717 c.— 20915.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 25th July, 1885, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, Upton, county Cork:— Patrick Butler, No. 1,166, 17 years of age, about 4 feet 11 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, regular nose, medium mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Clonmel; his parents are beggars. The school dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, leather belt, Glenagarry cap, leather strapped boots, nailed. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of John Neill, native of Filane East, who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1885, in the barony of Bere, parish of Kilaconnenagh, seriously assaulted Eliza Sullivan, by hitting her with a stone on the head, thereby endangering her life :— Gray or blue eyes, short thick nose, fresh complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair, wore a low soft hat, dark coat, bright trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of John Casey, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of June, 1885, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Buttevant, and townland of Ballybeg, feloniously broken into the dwelling- house of James Grady, and stole several articles of wearing apparel therefrom :— Fresh cut- mark on back of head, short cock nose, pale sallow complexion, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 22 years of age ; wore a soldier's uniform ; is a private, Yorkshire Regiment, Buttevant. John Sullivan ( alias Hunt) ( serious assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 1st May, 1885. Donegal. DESCRIPTION of John Campbell, alias Ward, alias Gallagher, native of Loughveen, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1885, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Inniskeel, stolen a heifer, since recovered. See Hue- and- Cry, dated 31st July, 1885 :— Nose drooped and slightly turned to one side, • stutters, high cheek bones, whiskers recently shaved off, dark complexion, round face, 5 feet 5 inches high; about 40 years of age. DESCRIPTION of Neil O'Donnoll, native of Anagry, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 17th June, 1885, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Templecrone, seriously assaulted one Hannagh O'Donnell, by striking hor with his fist on the side, knocking her down and breaking her leg, and thereby endangering her life:— Gray eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, dark, brown hair; wore a black cap, gray faded tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dungloe, June 27, 1885. ( 68998 c.— 20278.) Mary Feeny or Logue ( child desertion), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th February, 1885. The two persons, supposed to be Michael Kelly and his wife, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the night of 30th November, or morning of 1st December, 1884, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Killaghtee, murdered one Bridget Cunningham, have not been arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 26th December, 1884. Dublin. Patrick and Kate M'carthy ( charged with having stolen several articles of clothing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1885. Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of ' jewellery, ithe property of the late Captain Edward Barton, which was stolen between the 23rd December, 1884, and 15th April, 1885:— A diamond ring, value about £ 130— stone a large diamond, Eet round with row of small diamonds; antique gold ring— signet portion a hexagonal- shaped stone, with letters I (?), sur- rounded by wreath, engraved on surface; antique ring of thin gold— signet portion ( modern) a large oval blue- tinted stone; a piece of Danish Ring- money. Martin Folan ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th September, 1884. Mary Bligh, alias Lynch, native of Ballymoe, who disappeared from her home, in the barony of Bally- moe, parish of Drumatemple, on or about the 9th January, 1884, has not been since heard of; Hue- and- Cry, 28th March, 1884. Patrick Killeen ( assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 29th April, 1884. Martin Coleman ( sending threatening letters), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st April, 1884. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 14th June, 1885, in the barony of Iveragh, parish of Glenbehy, assaulted Michael Corcoran, of Cahersiveen, on the public highway at Kilkeagh, and robbed him of the sum of £ 2 4s.:— 1. Has the appearance of a tramp, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age; wore a hard black hat, dark jacket, and tweed trowsers. 2. Has the appearance of a tramp, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a black jerry hat, black frock coat, and gray tweed trowsers. A Warrant for their arrest is in the hands of the police at Killorglin. Killorglin, June 16, 1885. ( 68912 c.— 19962.) Five persons, . names and native places un- known, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, & e., have not been arrested, nor the arms recovered; Hue and- Cry, 24th April, 1885. William Daly ( assault endangering life), has been arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 1st May, 1885. Denis Lyons ( posting threatening notices), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1884. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of John Smith, name believed to be fictitious, who stands charged with having, on the night of 24th or morning of 25th June, 1885, in the parish of Ballysax, stolen a silver watch ( since recovered) from the person of James Masterson, of Ardscul, county Kildare :— Suspicious appearance, down- looking, seldom looks up when spoken to, has a habit of saying " dis " and " das " for this and thus, " d'ass " for the ass, coarse common features, sandy moustache, may have small sandy whiskers, stout make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, sandy hair; wore a brown tweed coat, new corduroy trowsers; is a tramp; workman for farmers, and navvy. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Flanagan, native of Royal Oak, who, on the 24th February, 1885, in tho barony of Carbury, parish of Ballinadrimna, strayed away from his employer at Moyvally while in a state of insanity, and may do injury to himself:— Pearl on right eye, good- looking, erect carriage; brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 11, 1885. 2. A small pale wrinkled face old man, tender eyes, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 65 years of age; wore a ragged coat, cord trowsers. Came from the direction of Kilmoree on 1st instant, in company with No. 1. Warrant in the hands of District Inspector at Swinford for arrest. Description of sheep and lambs:— Two ewe sheep, four years old; one of them had a small black spot on right side of jaw near mouth ; in poor condition; value for about 25s. each. Two lambs, 3 months old, tails recently cut; value for about 16s. each. Swinford, July 7, 1885. ( 69210 c.— 20421.) Monaghan. DESCRIPTION of an ass and cart, the property of Denis Devane, of Clogher, which were stolen from the lands of Clogher, parish of Clogher, and barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, on the night of 30th or morning of 31st July, 1885:— A mare ass, white colour, letter C. branded on left hind leg, shod on two forefeet. Cart nearly new, recently painted red, owner's name on shaft in white letters. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Ryan, native of Toomevara ( Tipperary), but states he belongs to Ennis, who stands charged with having, on the night of 8th or morning of 9th July, 1885, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Lorrha, broken into the dwelling- house of Richard Willwood, and stolen therefrom 151bs. bacon, 2 pairs of men's boots ( laced), and 1 tweed coat: all value for about £ 2 10s.:— Broad shoulders, walks erect, gray eyes, short thick nose, sandy complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, sandy hair, turning gray ; wore a soft jerry hat, black sack coat, corduroy trowsers, patched and stitched with white thread, tweed vest; has generally a piece of cord tied round trowsers, below knees; he may be wearing a pair of the stolen boots ; is a labourer on tramp.
