All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will oe inserted. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1885. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 100 REWARD. WANTED, at Dewsbury, Yorkshire, for forgery, John Peter Boothman :— Wool merchant, Dewsbury, aged about 60, height 5 feet 7 or 8 inches, slightly made, gray hair, whiskers, and beard, no moustache, peculiar dropping movement of one eyelid, rather small and narrow face. Well known in Bradford and in the Craven District by w0ol dealers. Was in Bradford, Yorkshire, on Saturday, 26th April, instant, and cashed a cheque for £ 500 the Halifax Commercial Ban He obtained for the cheque £ 4 Halifax Commercial Banking Company, and also a £ 100 Bank of England note, dated London, 26th April, 1884, number 42,692. £ 100 reward will be paid to any person giving information leading to the apprehension of the above • person. it the bank there of g Company, Ltd. in £ 5 notes of the Information to J. M., t6th inst., a gentleman's house at Garston was entered by forcing back the fastening of a bedroom window with a palette knife ( left on the premises), and the following jewellery stolen:— a diamond and turquoise pendant, centre turquoise set round with small diamonds, small turquoise pendant hanging from large one; a diamond and turquoise bracelet, formed of 8 or 10 large turquoises, and studded with small diamonds ; a pair of diamond and turquoise earrings; a pearl necklace and pearl earrings, star of pearls with small pearl drop hanging; a pair large single diamond ear- rings claw set; a pair hanging large single diamond earrings, pear- shaped drops ; a diamond pendant and earrings, consisting of large diamond in centre, set round with small diamonds in shape of Maltese cross ; two diamond and gold bracelets, one is a band of gold with letters " A. E. I." in small diamonds, and the other a band of gold with large diamond stars ; a diamond and ruby bracelet, the gold is small ivy- leaved pattern studded with small rubies; a turquoise and pearl bracelet formed of gold band, shape of cup in centre formed of pearls, and dotted with small turquoise and pearls at each side; a cameo bracelet formed of band of gold, with stone cameo set in white and gold enamel; a cameo pendant to match bracelet; two pairs cameo earrings, one stone cameo and the other shell; a moon stone necklace, graduated stones set in gold ; a white coral and diamond round- shaped brooch; two coral necklaces, one a string of coral beads with round- shaped coral pendant, the other a large centre of coral with strings of small coral beads; two pairs of gold and pink coral earrings ; a pink coral and gold brooch; .• a gold necklace ; a gold brooch and a gold earring; a • brooch consisting of large stone cameo ( lady's head) set in large pearls; a small gold cameo brooch ( lady's head); a gold Geneva hunting watch, number and maker's name not known; a lady's gold watch, maker " Roskell, Liverpool;" a lady's gold watch chain, to which a gold pencil case, a spade- ace guinea, gold locket, and onyx whistle is attached; two opal rings, one of large opal and two diamonds; the other of three opals; a ruby ring, large . centre ruby surrounded by diamonds; a turquoise ring, a round of turquoises set in gold; a single . diamond ring, large single diamond, claw set; a . diamond and ruby ring, supposed two rubies and one diamond ; a pearl ring, single pearl set in gold ; a pink coral and gold ring; a sapphire and diamond ring, large centre sapphire and two diamonds; a gold wedding ring, far worn j a topaz brooch and earrings, each formed of large topaz, set in gold and silver of frosted appearance ; a pearl slide, single pearl in oval shaped setting; a pink coral snake pattern brooch, large diamonds in snake's head; a gold diamond and emerald locket, a gold and diamond locket, diamond star pattern; a filigree gold necklace, two thin gold necklaces, three gold bracelets, one filigree, one band of gold, coiled pattern, and one gold, centre of which opens, and contains photos of a lady and gentleman; a spray pearl brooch, an unset diamond, an amethyst pen- dant, set in gold ; two pairs of long gold earrings, two Venetian mosaic brooches, long shape; a lava bracelet, small cherub's head of various colours; a set, consist- ing of silver brooch and ear- rings, inlaid with black enamel; a bracelet of moss agate, a gold pencil case, a a lava brooch and earrings, head of " Galileo" in brooch; two pebble brooches, set in gold; four £ 5 Rank of England Notes, number of one supposed to be 41054 K, and about £ 5 in gold and 5s. in silver. The above reward will be paid to any person giving such information as willl lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Pawnbrokers, watchmakers, jewellers, and others are requested to examine their stocks, and if the above has been pledged or sold before the receipt of this bill, or should hereafter be offered for pledge or sale, to give immediate information thereof to the Superintendent of Police, Old Swan; Police Office, Aigburth; or at the Central Police Office, Dale- street, Liverpool. WANTED by Warrant for embezzlement, Alexander Young Wilson :— 43 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sandy hair, bald on top of head, sandy beard and moustache turning gray, walks lame on right leg, smart appearance; dressed in light check tweed trowsers, black cloth coat and vest, black billycock hat, and black macintosh overcoat. He absconded on the 24 th instant, after collecting an account of £ 76, and may endeavour to emigrate. It is requested that careful search and inquiry be made at hotels, shipping offices, & c., and any infor- mation obtained forwarded to the Chief Constable of Manchester, who holds the Warrant for his appre- hension. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Catherine Kennedy, convicted at Clonmel, county Tipperary, on 28th October, 1879, for larceny from the person, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude ;— 30 years of age on conviction, single, servant, prison trade sempstress, born in Cahir, resided before conviction in Clonmel, has friends in cahir; brown hair, blue eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, slight make, 5 feet high; scurvy on face. This licence- holder was released from Golden Bridge Convict Refuge 21 st January, 1885, and went to ClonmeL She left Clonmel the 5th instant, stating she was going to Liverpool, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with ha » ing, on the 16th April, 1885, at Loughbrown, in the barony of Connell, parish of Pollardstown, stolen a suit of horse- clothing, the property of the Marquis of Drogheda; horse- clothing has been recovered:— Wide mouth, high cheek bones, large gray side whiskers, blue eyes, long nose, pale complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, gray hair; wore a low hard hat, long black cloth coat, and light trowsers ; is a gambler at race meetings. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Flanagan, native of Royal Oak, who, on the 24th February, 1885, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Ballinadrimna, strayed away from his employer at Moyvally while in a state of insanity, and may do injury to himself:— Pearl on right eye, good- looking, erect carriage ; brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a felt hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Farrell. no fixed residence, states he is a native of county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May, 1885, in the barony of Galmoy, parish of Urlingford, absconded from Urlingford union Workhouse, taking with him clothing, the property of the Guardians of said union:— Fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 4 feet 5 inches high, about 12 Or 13 years of age, fair hair; wore' a light gray tweed cap, lined with brown canvas, dark brown frieze coat, unlined except sleeves, which are lined with white calico, corduroy trowsers, gray tweed vest, lined with calico, a pair of boots, and cotton stockings, having the union brand on them, and a calico shirt— all workhouse clothing. DESCRIPTION of John M'Morrow, mother's surname Kelly, native of Fahy, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumrielly, failed to appear at Dowra Petty Sessions, county Cavan, to give evidence in a case of house attack by an armed party and robbery of arms, as bound by his recognizance j Warrant for his arrest in hands of Police at Dowra :— Large feet, slovenly gait, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 19 or 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of four men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 4th of May, 1885, in the barony of Drumahaire, parish of Drumreilly, been of a party of five armed men, who forcibly entered the dwelling- house of Patrick M'Morrow, of Fahy, threatened the inmates, and seized and carried away a gun:— 1. Shaved face, slight moustache, large eyes, regular nose, round red fade, slight make, 5 feet 9 Cavan. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Young, native of Drum- goon, who stands charged with others in custody with having, on the 9th day of May, 1885, in the barony of Tullyhunco, parish of Kildallon, violently assaulted one Patrick Baxter with blows of a stick on the head, thereby causing his death on the 14th instant:— Dark eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair, very small side whiskers ; wore a round hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Connor, native of Inno- shannon, who stands charged with having, on the 17th May, 1885, in the barony of Kinalea, parish of Innoshannon, embezzled the sum of £ 12, the pro- perty of his employer, Edward Oliff, of Innoshannon, for whom he drove a bread van :— Wants an upper front tooth, slight squint, small gray eyes, cocked nose, dark complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair, and small dark side whiskers; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a driver of a bread van. DESCRIPTION of John Sullivan ( alias Hunt), native of Barry's Cove, Clonakilty, who stands charged with having, on the 20th April, 1885, at Baltimore, in the barony of West Carberry, E. D., parish of Tullagh, committed a serious assault on Hannah Connolly, by striking her on the eye with a bottle;— Dark sunken eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old dark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a fisherman and labourer. He escaped from the bridewell at Bantry on the night of the 27th instant Skibbereen, April 29, 1885. ( 68147 c.— 18846.) Mary Bligh, alias Lynch, native of Ballymoe, who disappeared from her home, in the barony of Bally- moe, parish of Drumatemple, on or about the 9th January, 1884, has not been since heard of; Hue- and- Ciy, 28th March, 1884. DESCRIPTION of William Daly, native of Kilfallinga, who stands charged with having, on the 19th April, 1885, at Gurranedarrig, in the barony of Trughen- ackmy, parish of Currans, assaulted Timothy Sullivan, by kicking him in the abdomen, thereby endangering his life :— Slightly bow- legged, head stooped forward, has a habit of keeping his hands in his trowsers' pockets, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of five guns, the property of John Cruickshank, and one, the property of Daniel Daly, which were forcibly taken from their dwelling- houses at Inch and Caherpierce respectively, in the parish of Ballinvoher, and barony of Corkaguiny, on the night of Saturday, the 18th April, 1885, by an armed party of moonlighters, viz:— 1. A double- barrelled muzzle loader, No. 108, maker's name, Moore, London. 2. A double- barrelled muzzle loader, a small hole on one of the barrels ( supposed right one), maker's name, Snowy, Inverness. 3. Two pair double- barrelled muzzle loaders, one of the barrels sighted as a rifle, a small hole on one barrel ( right one). 4. A large strand fowling- piece, single- barrelled, one of the keepers for ramrod lost, two keepers on stock 5. One single- barrelled gun, nearly new; the whole value for about £ 57. Dingle, April 20, 1885. ( 68028 c.— 18659.) DESCRIPTION of five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, & c.:— 1. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, long red beard, which may be false; wore a soft hat and long oiled coat. 2. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, side whiskers, shaves the chin ; wore a soft hat and oiled coat; he carried a double- barrel gun. 3. 5 feet 5 inches high, no beard or whiskers; wore a soft hat, gray coat; carried a single- barrel gun, and wore a leather belt. 4. 6 feet 4 inches high, age not known; wore a fur cap, had a bag apparently round his bodj^ had a white mask over his face, and carried a watch. 5. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of age ; wore a brown coat, and had a robe round his waist Dingle, April 20, 1885. ( 68028 c.— 18659.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR H^ k" 4ND- CRY, MAY 26, 1885. < inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair ; wore a round hard hat, dark frock coat, and dark tweed trowsers. 2. Very thin fair whiskers, regular nose, fair complexion, broad freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a black soft hat, old dark coat, and dark tweed trowsers. 8. Face shaved, small fair moustache, fair com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a broad soft hat, dirk coat, trowsers, and vest. 4. Regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark coat and trowsers. The other man, who was disguised, has been arrested and identified. Description of the gun:— A double- barrelled muzzle loader, with Griffith • written on lock, small piece broken off toe- plate, cut- mark on small of butt, and small piece broken ofi one of the hammers ; value for about £ 2. Mulligan, alias M'Mahon ( mother's surname Mulligan), native qf Swineford, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 25th April, 1885, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, and county of the city of Limerick, stolen the sum of £ 12, the property of his employers, W. H.
