ENGLISH POLICE. DESCRIPTION of a man wanted here, charged with stealing a cash box containing £ 4, & c., from a grocer's shop at Longsight on the 31st ulto., in company with a man named William Henry Barrett under remand at Strangeways Court:— About 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale light complexion, light moustache, whiskers and beard shaved off, slightly pock- pitted, speaks with a London accent; dressed in a black worsted cloth coat and vest, dark tweed trowsers with white stripe down side, lying- down collar, broad tie with gold horseshoe pin set with several small imitation diamonds, black billycock hat, and yellow kid gloves, and of very respectable appearance ; goes under the name of Charles Clarke, alias " Con;" was liberated from Walton Gaol on the 26th or 27th ult., having been doing a month for attempting to rob a till in Liverpool; has also done several terms of imprison- ment in London for till robberies. He is now working in company with a young man named Fred Bridge, a native of Manchester, and who is of tho following < i(^(. rii) tiou :—- About a^ cy 5- feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, broad full face, slight light moustache, stout build, dressed in a new black worsted coat and vest, very heavy gold Albert watch- guard with very large seal attached, he is a solicitor's clerk ; has two brothers residing in Manchester, who have been convicted in London for till robbery; these two men are now going from town to town committing till robberies; they also attend race meetings, and some- times make a book at races; it is strongly believed they are either in London or Liverpool; they are well known to the Police at both places. Bridge has lived in the neighbourhood of Soho street, Liverpool, with a prostitute from the latter end of January to the latter end of March, this year. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Glynn, who is in custody at Manchester, and remanded till 7th instant, charged with being in possession of a silver lever watch, No. 1458, and gold Albert chain, graduated curb with appendage, blood stone on one side, and a wine- coloured stone on the other, for which an owner is wanted : 27 years of age, 5 feet 9| inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, oval face, prominent nose, a groom by occupation ; scar on right of forehead, long scar on left thigh, a scar over each eyebrow ; is under Police supervision, and was in Ire- land during the lloyal Visit. Glynn had also in his possession twelve fourpenny postage stamps, a five- shilling piece, dated 1821, and cash £ 4 18s., all supposed to have been stolen. WANTED at County Constabulary Office, Airdrie, on a charge of horse- stealing, committed on 1st April, 1885 ( horse recovered), Alexander Paton, alias M'Kenzie:— Is a carter or labourer, native of Perth, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, brown hair, whiskers shaved off, very slight moustache, if any, dark eyes, sallow complexion, long and thin face, slightly bald on crown of head, and a little knock- kneed. Dressed when last seen in an old dark tweed coat and vest, gray checked or tartan trowsers, seated with cloth of a darker colour, old lacing boots, dark tweed cap. He is also wanted by the Perth City Police on a charge of theft. He was convicted of horse- stealing before a Sheriff and Jury Court, at Stirling, on 10th October, 1881, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment, Prison No. « 7; also for theft, before the Circuit Court, at Perth, on 18th January, 1883, and sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment, Prison No. „£,; on this occasion he was apprehended in Fifeshire, where he was work- ing at a colliery. . In February last he was employed on a farm in Perthshire, and since then, for a short time, as stable- man or strapper to a cab hirer on the south side, in Glasgow. He often speaks of his father, who he says is in London, and whom it is believed leads a somewhat similar life. Sherriff's Warrant granted. STOLEN between 1st November, 1884, and 10th April, 1885 ( the bulk supposed to be about- latter date), from the hill pasture of Inverlochlaraig, in the parish of Balquhidder, and county of Perth, forty or thereby black- faced two- year old wethers, marked as follows : Eel- stab on the near and crop off far lug, the letter J, together with a star ( thus *) on left horn; all were dipped in November, and marked with red keel on rump ; they were in lean condition. Also one hundred or thereby black- faced ewes, of different ages, marked as follows :— Eel- stab on the near and crop off far lug, the letter J on left horn, together with a figure ( 2 to 6), denoting age, the letter S in tar on left shoulder; all were dipped in November, and marked with red keel on back of head; the bulk of them are in lamb. The Police are requested to make particular search and inquiry at auction sales, railway stations, graziers, shepherds, and others, for the above- described sheep, and forward any information obtained to the subscriber. WANTED on the above charge of theft George Simpson, alias Kerr:— Miner or pit sinker, native of Lanarkshire, from 32 to 35 years of age, 6 feet 1 ^ inches high, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise clean shaved, long face, dark eyes, small cut mark under right jaw ; dressed when he absconded in a dark blue jacket, gray tweed vest, dark trowsers, dark cloth cap with peak of same material, and elastic- sided boots, but may now be wearing part of the stolen property. He served for some time in the Horse Guards, also in the Renfrewshire Constabulary, and a short time about two years ago in the City of Glasgow Police. His parents reside at Townhead- street, Hamilton, N. B. He was heard to say some short time previous to the theft that he in- tended to go to England as soon as he got some money. A double- barrelled muzzle loader, a small hole on one of the barrels ( supposed right one), maker's name, Snowy, Inverness, 8. Two pair double- barrelled muzzle loaders, one of the barrels sighted as a rifle, a small hole on one barrel ( right one). 4. A large strand fowling- piece, single- barrelled, one of the keepers for ramrod lost, two keepers on stock. 5. One single- barrelled gun, nearly new; tho whole value for about £ 57. DESCRIPTION of five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Ballinorker, attacked the dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, & c.:— 1. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, long red beard, which may be false; wore a soft hat and long oiled coat. 2. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, side whiskers, shaves the chin ; wore a soft hat and oiled coat; he carried a double- barrel gun. 3. 5 feet 5 inches high, no beard or whiskers ; wore a soft hat, gray coat; carried a single- barrel gun, and wore a leather belt. 4. 5 feet 4 inches high, age not known ; wore a fur cap, had a bag apparently round his body, had a white mask over his face, and carried a watch. 5. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of age; wor^ a brown coat, and had a robe round his waist. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch), and strong blucher boots. This boy absconded with Richard Halpin, a Dublin boy. DESCRIPTION of John FitzPatrick, native of Clonard, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd April, 1885, in the barony of Maryboro' West, parish of Clonenagh, failed to appear at Mountrath Petty Sessions, to give evidenoe in a case of assault and robbery as bound by his recognizance :— Lightly pockpitted, gray or blue eyes, long hooked nose, pale freckled complexion, long face, slight make, about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 55 or 60 years of age, gray hair; wore a Jem Crow hat, long dark coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark tweed vest, all much worn ; is a pump borer and labourer; known by the sobriquet of " Jack the Rattle" in several parts of Queen's County.
