P DUBLIN, TUESDAY, MAY 5, 1885. ENGLISH POLICE. DESCRIPTION of a man wanted here, charged with stealing a cash box containing. £ 4, Ac., from a grocer's shop at Longsight on the 31st ulto., in company with a man named William Henry Barrett under remand at Strangeways Court:— About 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale light complexion, light moustache, whiskers and beard shaved off, slightly pock- pitted, speaks with a London accent; dressed in a black worsted cloth coat and vest, dark tweed trowsers with white stripe down side, lying- down collar, broad tie with gold horseshoe pin set with several small imitation diamonds, black billycock hat, and yellow kid gloves, and of very respectable appearance ; goes under the name of Charles Clarke, alias " Con;" was liberated from Walton Gaol on the 26th or 27th ult., having been doing a month for attempting to rob a till in Liverpool; has also done several terms of imprison- ment in London for till robberies. He is now working in company with a young man named Fred Bridge, a native of Manchester, and who is of the following description :— About 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, broad full face, slight light ijaQustiiche, stout build, dressed in a new black worsted '~ ' coat and vest, very heavy gold Albert watch- guard with very large seal attached, he is a solicitor's clerk ; has two brothers residing in Manchester, who have been convicted in London for till robbery ; these two men are now going from town to town committing till robberies; they also attend race meetings, and some- times make a book at races; it is strongly believed they are either in London or Liverpool; they are well known to the Police at both places. Bridge has lived in the neighbourhood of Soho- street, Liverpool, with a prostitute from the latter end of January to the latter end of March, this year. It is earnestly requested that wvery possible inquiry be made, and, if met with, please apprehend and communicate with Mr. Superintendent Bent* County Police Office, Old TrafTord, near Manchester, April 29,1885. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Glynn, who is in custody at Manchester, and remanded till 7th instant, charged with being in possession of a silver lever watch, No. 1458, and gold Albert chain, graduated curb with appendage, blood stone cn one side, and a wine- coloured stone on the other, for which an owner is wanted :— 27 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, proportionate build, oval face, prominent nose, a groom by occupation ; scar on right of forehead, long scar on left thigh, a scar over each eyebrow ; is under Police supervision, and was in Ire- land during the Royal Visit. Glynn had also in his possession twelve fourpenny postage stamps, a five- shilling piece, dated 1821, and cash £ 4 18s., all supposed to have been stolen. _ Information to the Chief Constable at Manchester. WANTED by Warrant for embezzlement, Alexander Young Wilson :— 43 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sandy hair, bald on top of head, sandy beard and moustache turning gray, walks lame on right leg, smart appearance; dressed in light check tweed trowsers, black cloth coat and vest, black billycock hat, and black macintosh overcoat. He absconded on the 24th instant, after collecting an account of £ 76, and may endeavour to emigrate. Licence- holder Patrick Murphy, described in Hue- and- Cry of 10th of last June, has not been arrested. SCOTCH POLICE. WANTED at County Constabulary Office, Airdrie, on a charge of horse- stealing, committed on 1st April, 1885 ( horse recovered), Alexander Paton, alias M'Kenzie:— Is a carter or labourer, native of Perth, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, brown hair, whiskers shaved off, very slight moustache, if any, dark eyes, sallow complexion, long and thin face, slightly bald on crown of head, and a little knock- kneed. Dressed when last seen in an old dark tweed coat and vest, gray checked or tartan trowsers, seated with cloth of a darker colour, old lacing boots, dark tweed cap. He is also wanted by the Perth City Police on a charge of theft. He was convicted of horse- stealing before a Sheriff and Jury Court, at Stirling, on 10th October, 1881, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment, Prison No. 4J7; also for theft, before the Circuit Court, at Perth, on 18th January, 1883, and sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment, Prison No. 6j5; on this occasion he was apprehended in Fifeshire, where he was work- ing at a colliery. In February last he was employed on a farm in Perthshire, and since then, for a short time, as stable- man or strapper to a cab hirer on the south side, in Glasgow. He often speaks of his father, who he says is in London, and whom it is believed leads a somewhat similar life. Sherriff's Warrant granted. STOLEN between 1st November, 1884, and 10th April, 1885 ( the bulk supposed to be about latter date), from the hill pasture of Inverlochlaraig, in the parish of Balquhidder, and county of Perth, forty or thereby black- faced two- year old wethers, marked as follows :— Eel- stab on the near and crop off far lug, the letter J, together with a star ( thus *) on left horn; all were dipped in November, and marked with red keel on rump ; they were in lean condition. Also one hundred or thereby black- faced ewes, of different ages, marked as follows :— Eel- stab on the near and crop off far lug, the letter J on left horn, together with a figure ( 2 to 6), denoting age, the letter S in tar op left shoulder; all were dipped in November, and marked with red keel on back of head; the bulk of them are in lamb. The Police are requested to make particular search and inquiry at auction sales, railway stations, graziers, shepherds, and others, for the above- described sheep, and forward any information obtained to the subscriber. STOLEN from a dwelling- house in Clarkston, county Lanarkshire, on the 30th March last:— A lady's gold Geneva watch, maker's name nor number not known ; a small black beaded guard attached to watch; a gold guard of small link pattern; a gold locket, small and plain; a suit, consisting of a gray checked tweed jacket, lined with brown lining, and gray bone buttons, vest and trowsers of same material; a suit, consisting of a black, red, and gray mixture tweed jacket, with vest and trowsers of same material; a suit, consisting of a black corded cloth coat, single breasted, with pockets in skirts behind, lined ^ ith black lining^ vest of qam^ mate-_ " rial, and- a pair of black and white striped tweed trow- sers ; two overcoats, one a black corded cloth, single breasted, lined in body with bla. k and in sleeves with red lining, the other a dark- gray English tweed, single breasted, lined in body with black and in sleeves with blue and white striped lining; a pair of black cloth trowsers ; a man's white cotton shirt; two pairs white linei? cuffs; two pair3 of bone sleeve- links, one pair black, the other white ; one pair of Shetland gray socks ( newly fitted) ; one white silk handkerchief, with blue border, and several white linen ones; a pair of men's lacing boots with sparables in soles ( newly soled). WANTED on the above charge of theft George Simpson, alias Kerr:— Miner or pit sinker, native of Lanarkshire, from S2 to 35 years of age, 6 feet I ^ inches high, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise clean shaved, long face, dark eyes, small cut mark under right jaw; dressed when he absconded in a dark blue jacket, gray tweed vest, dark trowsers, dark cloth cap with peak of same material, and elastic- sided boots, but may now be wearing part of the stolen property. He served for some time in the Horse Guards, also in the Renfrewshire Constabulary, and a short time about two years ago in the City of Glasgow Police. His parents reside at Townhead- street, Hamilton, N. B. He was heard to say some short time previous to the theft that ho in- tended to go to England as soon as he got some money. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Jackson, name supposed to be false, states he is a native of Dublin, who is in custody, charged with breaking into vessels in Car- narvon Docks, and stealing jewellery, clothing, & c., and remanded to Monday, April 27th :— 39 years of age, 5 feet 4 J inches high, swarthy sandy complexion, very slender built, sandy hair, bald on top of head, blue eyes, scar on forehead, white speck on left eye, Indian Chief and bracelets tattooed on right arm, wreath and star on back of right hand; wife of Indian Chief and bracelets tattooed on left arm, star on back of left hand. M'Mullan, by kicking him in the stomach, and thereby endangered bis life :— Wants front tooth, cast in eye, not known which, dark eyes, thin nose, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 21 years of age; wore a small black hard hat, gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Smith, native of Belfast, • who. stands charged with having, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, failed to report his arrival here in compliance with his licence, he being released from Armagh Gaol on the 22nd February last, and his train fare paid to Belfast:— Pockpitted, soldier tattooed on right forearm, and skull, crossbones, & c., on left, naked woman holding flag on left hand, large burn- mark on right arm near shoulder, gray eyes, cocked nose, sallow complexion, ; oval face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 33 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, dark | tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark vest, all old and much worn; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cullen, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, within the last six months, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, embezzled the sum of £ 133, the property of his employer, Michael Car:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7$ inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a felt hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, also wore a blue nap overcoat; is a pawnbroker's assistant. DESCRIPTION of three cows and a mare, the pro- perty of Thomas Gleeson, which were stolen from the lands of Glennnglough, parish of Ahabullogue, barony of West Muskery, on 20th April, 1885 :— 1. Ten years old, dark red colour, turned in horns, fair condition ; value for £ 8. 2. Four years old, red and white colour, horns turned in, fair condition; value for £ 8. 3. Three years old, red and yellow colour, a few white spots on back, horns turned in,* fair condition ; value for £ 9. 4. A bay mare, 4 years old, hands high, splint iDside off fore leg, small star on forehead; value for £ 20. Supposed to be concealed in West Cork or Kerry. Ballincollig, April 30,1885. DESCRIPTION of John Sullivan ( alias Hunt), native of Barry's Cove, Clonakilty, who stands charged with having, on the 20th April, 1885, at Baltimore, in the barony of West Carberry, E. D., parish of Tullagh, committed a serious assault on Hannah Connolly, by striking her on the eye with a bottle ;— Dark sunken eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 { aches high, about 24 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old dark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a fisherman and labourer. Ho escaped from the bridewell at Bantry on the night of the 27th instant. Skibbereen, April 29, 1885. ( 68147 c.— 18846.) The two persons, supposed to be Michael Kelly and his wife, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the night of 30th November, or morning of 1st December, 1884, in the : barony of Banagh, parish of Killaghtee, murdered one Bridget Cunningham, have not been arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 26th December, 1884. Mary Bligh, alias Lynch, native of Ballymoe, who disappeared from her home, in the barony of Bally- moe, parish of Drumatemple, on or about the 9th January, I884, has not been since heard of; Hue- and- Cry, 28th March, 1884. DESCRIPTION of William Daly, native of Kilfallinga, who stands charged with having, on the 19th April, 1885, at Gurranedarrig, in the barony of Trughen- ackmy, parish of Currans, assaulted Timothy Sullivan, by kicking him in the abdomen, thereby endangering his life :— Slightly bow- legged, head stooped forward, has a habit of keeping his hands in his trowsers' pockets, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of five guns, the proporty of John Cruickshank, and one, the property of Daniel Daly, which were forcibly taken from their dwelling- houses at Inch and Caherpierce respectively, in the parish of Ballinvoher, and barony of Corkaguiny, on the night of Saturday, the 18tli April, 1885, by an armed party of moonlighters, viz:— 1. A double- barrelled muzzle loader, No. 108, maker's name, Moore, London. 2. A double- barrelled muzzle loader, a small hole on one of the barrels ( supposed right one), maker's name, Snowy, Inverness. 3. Two pair double- barrelled muzzle loaders, one of the barrels sighted as a rifle, a stnall holo on ono barrel ( right one). 4. A large strand fowling- piece, single- barrelled, one of the keepers for ramrod lost, two keepers on stock. 5. One single- barrelled gun, nearly new; the whole value for about £ 57. Dingle, April 20, 1885. ( 68028 c.— 18659.) DESCRIPTION of five persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 18th April, 1885, in the barony of Corkaguiny, - parish of Ballinorker, attacked tho dwelling- houses of John Cruickshank, Inch, and Daniel Daly, Caherpierce, and taken therefrom six guns, and also with seriously assaulting John Cruick- shank on the same occasion by inflicting four cuts on his head with the stock of a gun, & c.:— 1. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, long red beard, which may be false; wore a soft hat and long oiled coat. 2. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, side whiskers, shaves the chin ; wore a soft hat and oiled coat; he carried a double- barrel gun. 3. 5 feet 5 inches high, no beard or whiskers; wore a soft hat, gray coat; carried a single- barrel gun, and wore a leather belt. 4. 6 feet 4 inches high, age not known ; wore a fur cap, had a bag apparently round his body, had a white mask over his face, and carried a watch. 5. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 yoars of age; wore a brown coat, and had a robe round his waist. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Flanagan, native of Royal Oak, who, on the 24th February, 1885, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Ballinadrimna, strayed away from his employer at Moyvally while in a state of insanity, and may do injury to himself:— Pearl on right eye, good- looking, erect carriage; brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a felt hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Garret Stynes ( house attack and using threatening language), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31st October, 1884. Mary Ryan ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 7th October, 1884. Kilkenny. Michael O'Brien ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th March, 1885. James Comerford ( assault by stabbing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th January, 1885. Patrick Canty ( embezzlement), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th November, 1884. — THE POLICE GA King's. DESCRIPTION of Peter O'Neill, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the _ night of 15th or morning of 16th instant, in the barony of Geashill, parish of Geashill, stolen a suit of brown tweed clothes, a pair of women's boots, and a pair of children's shoes; he wore the clothes, as he left his own behind :— Right eye weak, and large flat feet, and has appearance of a discharged soldier, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown tweed coat; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offended who on the 23rd February, 1885, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County :— Thomas Bryan, 788, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage, scar under right eye, formerly belonged to Water- ford, his parents reside at Little Patrick- street, Waterford. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch), and strong blucher boots. This boy absconded with Richard Halpin, a Dublin boy. The Manager of the Reformatory - will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will'reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. H. DESCRIPTION of ten three- year- old heifers, the pro- perty of Andrew Corcoran, which were stolen from off the lands of Lisclougher Great, barony of Delvin, and parish of Delvin, on tho morning of the 28th April, 1885, viz.;— All yellow and white colour, and branded with the letters J. C. on right horn. All the horns are tipped ; some of them have ft cut on the right plate, about 3 inches long, in fair condition ; value for about £ 13 I0, s. each. Delvin, May 3, 1885.
