FOR stealing carpets, < fcc., on the 3rd inst., also for failing to report, Andrew Wilson Law, alias Henry Fisher Salmond :— A ship's engineer, native of Stirlingshire, 86 years of. age, 5 feet 8J inches high, slender figure, dark brown hair and moustache, brown eyes, dark complexion, scar on bridge of nose. He was convicted at Newry, 22nd October, 1877, of larceny after previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' Police supervision, and released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Lusk, 21st February, 1884 ; since then he has been employed in various capacities; whilst here he was employed as a van- driver, and Since absconding has applied for a situation as hotel porter. Platt, for £ 235, for which two £ 100 Bank of England notes, dated Liverpool, 2nd March, 1883, No. J? 91281 and 91282, one £ 20 Bank of England note, dated Liverpool, 6th March, 1883, No. £ 68701, and £ 15 in gold were paid, a man who gave the name of " S. Saunders ":— About 88 years of age, fresh complexion, fair hair, clean shaved, may have a small moustache, respectably dressed. He served for some time in the Horse Guards, also in the Renfrewshire Constabulary, and a short time about two years ago in the City of Glasgow Police. His parents reside at Townhead- street, Hamilton, N. B. He was heard to say some short time previous to the theft that he in- tended to go to England as soon as he got some money. DESCRIPTION of two men, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 5th March, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, entered the house of Robert M'Clernahan, of Ballymurphy, and, after threatening the inmates, broke open a strong box and forcibly abstracted about £ 8 therefrom:— 1. Sunken eyes, small dark moustache, dark sorish eyes, red nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, about 6 feet high, about 30 years of age; wore a black jerry hat, long black coat, dark trowsers, and new boots; is a supposed tramp. 2. DESCRIPTION of undermentioned articles which were stolim from the business house of Thomas Peacocke, at Kilrush, parish of Kilrush, and- barony of Moyarta, between the hours of 8 o'clock P. M. and 11 o'clock A. M., on the 18th March, 1885;— Two silver lever watches, value for about £ 3 each; a plain silver Geneva watch, no descrip- tion ; a lady's gold watch with chased back and white dial, without glass, and dial slightly cracked ; a large gold watch without hands or glass, back plain and slightly dinged, gold dial figured on the centre; a gold watch, having gold dial with second hand de- ficient, wfth a gold Albert chain attached, with rather square links, about nine carat fine; a silver necklet with silver locket attached, chain very massive, anchor chain pattern, locket open in the centre, having a compartment for holding perfume at bottom, upper portion of opening like an ordinary locket; said articles were taken off a brass bar on which they were exposed for sale at the window. Nobody slept in the concern from which they said articles were stolen on that night, and the value of all the jewellery property so stolen is about £ 17. Kilrush, March 20, 1885. Blue eyes, long pointed nose, pale complexion ^ thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old dark gray shawl; is a tramp, and accompanies No. 1 from town to town. DESCRIPTION of James Dwyer, alias Baldwin, alias Talbot, native of Mitchelstown, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th day of February, 1885, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Nicholas, escaped from Cork Male Prison, while undergoing a term of 2 years' imprisonment from 3rd January, 1884, for stealing a donkey;— Lost all his teeth, rather stooped with short neck, dark foxy whiskers all round face, wore a moustache, brown or blue eyes, ordinary cose, fresh complexion, thin face, proportionate make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown hair, turning gray, cut short; wore the prison clothes, all dark gray with black stripes, short jacket, blue and white kerchief, low shoes, and dark brown stockings with white stripes; is a labourer or stone- cutter. Cork :— Patrick Buttler, 17 years of age, 4 font 11 jj^ hes high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, medium mouth ; formerly belonged to Cappawhite, county Tipperary ; his parents reside at Beggins. The school dress consists of corduroy trowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, dark tweed coat, leather belt, blue striped shirt, all with Reformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, and nailed boots fastened with leather straps. The mother of this boy is a blind woman, begging about the country, having three or four children along with her. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may . capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of James Waters, alias M'ManuS, who, at Coolock Petty Sessions, on 16th instant, was committed for trial, at the next Commission, on the charge of having, on 16th August, 1882, at the races of Baldoyle, in the barony of Coolock, stolen from the person of Garard Irvine a silver watch, for which he was arrested in the early part of this month in the city of Manchester :— Scar on lower lash of right eye; slightly hump- backed, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, prominent forehead, high cheek bones, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, light brown hair, whiskers,' beard, and moustache. When arrested he l> ad the following articles in his possession :— A ring with ruby set between two diamonds ; a large gold stud ; and a gold chain, Albert curb pattern, 18 carat. DESCRIPTION of James Doherty, native of Kingsbog Commons, who stands charged with having, on tho 22nd February, 1885, in the barony of West Offaly, parish of Kiidangan, seriously assaulted Denis Dempsey, gamekeeper to the Marquis of Drogheda, at Eskerhill, when warned off the land :— Ill- looking, brown eyes, hooked nose, pale yellow complexion, full round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches • high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a fur cap, black tweed coat and trowsers, strong boots; may now be wearing jerry hat, tweed suit with white or gray spots; is a notorious poacher. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who on the 6th March, 1885, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:-— Henry Dalton, No. 759, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose and mouth, oval visage, burn marks on chest, dots on left arm; for- merly belonged to South Dublin Union ; parents both dead ; has a cousin in Lucan; may go there.
