SPECIAL NOTICE, FUGITIVE OFFENDERS. A recent case has come under the notice of the Editor, in which a person whose apprehension was sought in England, and who was described in the POLICE GAZETTE, gave himself up to the Colonial Police. The prosecutor declined to take any further action in the matter, but the case necessitated the dispatch of two telegrams, the cost of which had to be refunded by him. To avoid such expense, the Editor requests, that if there is reason to believe that a fugitive offender is likely to go to the Colonies, and the prosecutor is un- willing to incur any expense, with a view to obtain his surrender, a notification be made in the communi- • ation sent to this Office to the effect that the offender is not to be arrested beyond the United Kingdom. The necessity for the adoption of such a course will be apparent from the fact that the POLICE GAZETTE is ciroulated in the Colonies. SPECIAL NOTICE. PERSONS IN CUSTODY. EXPLOSIONS. " Faith is a certain steadfast beholding, which looketh upon nothing else but Christ, the Conqueror of Sin and Death, and the Giver of righteousness, salvation, and eternal life. If I would find comfort when my conscience is afflicted, or when I am at the point of death, I must do nothing but apprehend Christ by faith, and say, I believe in Christ Jesus the Son of God, who suffered, was crucified, and died for me, in whose death I see my sin; and in His resurrection victory over sin, death, and the devil; besides Him I see nothing, I hear nothing. This is true faith, con- cerning Christ, and in Christ; Christ and our faith must be thoroughly joined together. I cannot com- prehend, nor be fully assured by reason, that I am received into God's favour for Christ's sake: but I hear this to be pronounced by the Gospel, and lay hold upon it by faith. With faith must always be joined a certain assurance of God's mercy. Now, this assurance comprehendeth a faithful remission of sin for Christ's sake, for it is impossible thy conscience should look for anything at God s hand, except first, it be assured that God is merciful to thee for Christ's sake."
