ENGLISH POLICE. ABSCONDED on the 13th instant, and now charged by Warrant with embezzlement, John Moran, alias C. F. Drancourt:— A journalist or surveyor, 29 years of age, 5 feet 2^ inches high, proportionate build, brown hair, bald fore part of head, reddish brown moustache, gray eyes, fair complexion, slightly freckled, oval features, respectable appearance, of good address, can speak French; dressed when last seen in adark suit, snuff coloured overcoat, and black hard felt hat; had a new Macintosh coat, generally wears a massive gold ring with imitation diamond on third finger, right hand ; he was convicted at Wakefield Sessions, 12th August, 1878, of fraud, after previous conviction of forgery, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude and 3 years' supervision; h* lias several crossed cheques payable to John J. or J. J. Law kins, " Catholic Times " Office, Liverpool, in his possession, and may endeavour to negotiato them. As he may endeavour to obtain employment by writing for newspapers or magazines, or with a surveyor, please cause inquiry to be made at all likely places, and, if found, arrest, and telegraph infor- mation to the Chief Superintendent. Licence- holder Patrick Murphy, described in Hue- and- Cry of 10th of last June, has not been arrested. SCOTCH POLICE. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. EMBEZZLEMENT of £ 500. WANTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with having, during the last six months, embezzled £ 500 belonging to his etnployors, a firm * of ware- housemen in this city, Alexander Ross:— A cashier, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, 19 stones in weight, black hair, slight black whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, sallow complexion, heavy features, consumptive appearance, stoops slightly forward when walking; a native of Arbroath ; dressed generally in a dark Chesterfield overcoat, dark sur- tout coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dress hat. Is married, and resided at 41, Annette- street, Govanhill, Glasgow. Absconded on 2nd March current. Police officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and, if found, arrest and communicate with A. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with embezzlement of £ 30 sterling, the property of a firm of manufacturers in the city, John Cochrane;— A A cashier, 34 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch in height, 9 ordinary make, brown hair, slight brown moustache, otherwise no hair on face; thick lips ; dressed in a dark tweed jacket, dark or light tweed trowsers, heather mixture tweed Ulster, and felt hat; re- spectable appearance; resided at 118, Greenhead- **>- eet, " Glasgow. WANTED at city of Edinburgh, charged with failing to report his change of residence, in terms of the conditions of his licence :— Licence- holder G 970, Alfred Evans, alias Tommy Good- for- Nothing, 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 J inches in height, well made, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, oval face, slight moustache, otherwise shaved, scar right side of head, scar right knee, scar above right wrist, blue mark left forearm, and vaccination mark left arm. The above Alfred Evans was concerned in a large housebreaking and robbery at Blantyre, Lanarkshire, in 1880, and he may be again working in this county. ( 29777 M.— 55205.) DESCRIPTION of two men, names and nativo places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 5th March, 1885, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, entered the house of Robert M'Clernahan, of Ballymurphy, and, after threatening the inmates, broke open a strong box and forcibly abstracted about £ 8 therefrom:— 1. Sunken eyes, small dark moustache, dark sorish eyes, red nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, about 6 feet high, about 30 years of age ; wore a black jerry hat, long black coat, dark trowsers, and new boots; is a supposed tramp. 2. Blue eyes, fresh complexion, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age ; wore a brown coat torn on right breast, dark trowsers, and old shoes much worn in the heels; is a supposed tramp. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Murphy, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, failed to report himself:— Large sore scar below left knee, cut scar right side of chin, scar on right breast, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of ago, dark brown hair; is a labourer. Patrick Reilly ( fictitious) ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th December, 1884. Edward Flynn ( robbery of a watch and chain), not anested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd September, 1884. Clare. Michael Healy ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and Cry, 1st April, 1884. Cork. DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned articles which were stolen from the residence of Rev. C. F. Tomes, at Gleriville, parish of Ardnageehy, and barony of Barrymore, between the hours of 11 A. M., and 12 45 P. M., on 15th February, 1885:— A lady's gold Geneva watch,' gold dial, No. 6,2260, maker unknown, value £ 6 ; a long Albert gold chain, each link made of four horse- shoes, value £ 6 15s.; a gold locket, and the following trinkets— a coral hand, a silver trumpet, a silver Turkish coin, an Italian coin, an aluminum pencil, a silver button- hook, and a peach- stone basket; also a black leather pursejeontaining five small diamonds, a six penny piece, and a penny, value £ 1 10s. DESCRIPTION of James Dwyer, alias Baldwin, alias Talbot, native of Mitchelstown, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th day of February, 1885, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Nicholas, escaped from Cork Male Prison, while undergoing a term of 2 years' imprisonment from 3rd January, 1884, for stealing a donkey;— Lost all his teeth, rather stooped with short neck, dark foxy whiskers all round face, wore a moustache, brown or blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, thin face, proportionate make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, brown hair, turning gray, cut short; wore the prison clothes, all dark gray with black stripes, short jacket, blue and white kerchief, low shoes, and dark brown stockings with white stripes; is a labourer or stone- cutter. DESCRIPTION of a young man and a young woman, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 1 " th of February, 1885, iii the barony of West Carbery, W. D., parish of Caharagh, stolen a two- year- old heifer ( since recovered), the property of Denis Collins :— 1. Blue eyes, ordinary nose, sandy complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, sandy hair; wore a gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest. 2. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 22 years of age ; wore a gray tweed cloak. I .. ooks like a sister of No. 1. Skibbereen, Feb. 23, 1885. ( 67273 c.— 17482.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 3rd February, 1885, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School at Upton, co. Cork :— Patrick Buttler, 17 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, medium mouth; formerly belonged to Cappawhite, county Tipperary ; his parents reside at Beggins. The school dress consists of corduroy trowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, dark tweed coat, leather belt, blue striped shirt, all with Reformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, and nailed boots fastened with leather straps. The mother of this boy is a blind woman, begging about the country, having three or four children along with her. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 30089 M.— 56344.) The three persons, names and native places unknown ( charged with having robbed Thomas M'Grath), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 23rd Septem- ber, 1884. Young offender, Michael Mahony, belonging to the city of Cork, not arreted ; Hui- and- Cry, 26th August, 1884. John Hogan ( manslaughter), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 12th August, .1884. Donegal. DESCRIPTION of Mary Feeny or Logue, native of Magilligan or Eglinton, county Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the 20th February, 1885, in the barony of" Innishowen, parish of Muff, unlawfully abandoned a male infaut, thereby en- dangering its life < see Hue- and- Cry, dated 24t. h Feb- ruary, 1885) :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 25 or 30 years of age, shining black hair; wore a cashmere dress trimmed with black satin, black jacket trimmed with fur, and yellow necktie; is a shirtmaker; stated she was married to a man named Logue. Buncrana, Feb. 25, 1885, ( 67244 c.— 17436.) DESCRIPTION of two persons, supposed to be Michael Kelly and his wife, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the night of 30th November, or morning qf 1st December, 1884, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Killaghtee, murdered one Bridget Cunningham:— 1. Swaggering gait, brown moustache, small side whiskers, brown eyes, regular nose, rather pale com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, black hair, turning gray ; wore a round black felt hat, gray coat rather long, dark coloured trowsers; is an itinerant fiddler. 2. Blue eyes, long pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 30 years of ago, sandy hair; wore an old dark gray shawl; is a tramp, and accompanies No. 1 from town to town. DESCRIPTION of James Waters, alias M'Manus, who, at Coolock Petty Sessions, on 16th instant, was committed for trial, at the next Commission, on the charge of having, on Hith Angust, 1882, at the races of Bildoyle, in the barony of Coolock, stolen from the person of Garard Irvine a silver watch,- for whi( j » 3K1 was on- enter} iu. the early part of this month in the city dt' Manchester :— Scar on lower lash of right eye; slightly hump backed, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, prominent forehead, high cheek bones, slight make. 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, light brown hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache. When arrested he had the following articles in his possession :— A ring with ruby set between two diamonds ; a large gold stud ; and a gold chain, Albert curb pattern, 18 carat. Anything known of this man or of the articles found in his possession to be intimated to the District Inspector of Constabulary, Clontarf. Clontarf, February 23, 1885. ( 66831 c. — 17470.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Carthy and Kate M'Carthy, who stand charged with having, on ihe 7th February, 1885, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Tully, stolen from the house'of Mrs. Anne Doyle, Kerrymount, with whom they were lodging, the several articles of clothing described at loot; — 1. Woman tattooed on chest, and a sailor on one of his wrists, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair and moustache; wore a black felt hat, black cloth coat, and light tweed trowsers; is a labourer. 2. Brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a black hat trimmed with red velvet, red dress, black jacket, and stolen boots ; is the wife of No. 1. Description of the property :— An oil coat, new, the property of the D. W. and W. Railway Company, No. 52 on one of the skirts inside at corner, buttonholes and pockets cased with leather; a pair of woman's boots, laced, nearly new; a black shawl with silk fringe, new; a new plaid skirt, brown and black, with small crossbar; a black velvet lady's jacket, small, fits the waist tight, a maroon- coloured skirt, trimmed with black velvet; a small round coat ( man's), black serge ; and a red carpet bag ; all value for about £ 2 10s. Warrants for arrest of Patrick and Kate M'Carthy are in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Cabinteely. Dundrum, Feb. 10, 1885. ( 67107 0— 17232.) Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of Walter Stead, native of Leeds, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd March, 1885, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, - Stolen £ 5 sterling in single notes, the property of Serjeant Pye, and a green melton hunting coat, property of Lieutenant Murray, West York Regi- ment:— Walks with hollow bend in back, no beard or whiskers, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of 8ge, dark brown hair; wore a dark green melton coat; is a tailor and soldier. DESCRIPTION of Thomas M'Loughlin, native of Curraghmore, who stands charged with having, on the 1st March, 1885, in the barony of Tyaquin, par'sh of Kilkerrin, violently assaulted Mary Mulry by striking her on the head with a grape, from the effects of which her life is in danger :— Curl in upper lip, spirting] method of speaking, wrinkled sunken jaws, chin and cheek bones slightly prominent, fair complexion, 5 feet fil inches high, about 55 years of age, bald on top of head, small fair whiskers ; wore a frieze coat, cord trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer. Mary Bligh, alias Lynch, native of Ballymoe, who disappeared from her home, in the barony of Bally- moe, parish of Drumatemple, on or about the 9th January, 1884, has not been since heard of; Hue- and- Cry, 28th March, 1884. Patrick Killeen ( assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 29th April, 1884. Martin Coleman ( sending threatening letters), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st April, 1884. DESCRIPTION of Corneliuz Hunt, na. iye of Car- hoocragh, who stands charged with having, on the 11 til day of January, ' 885, in tin barony of Irraghticonnor, parish of Kiio^ ktf'Mir<\-,- b* Hn^ fmiiid out of his abode, under sec. I I of Prevention of C/ ime Act, and sentenced to 3 months' imprison- ment, which sentence was affirmed on appeal on 30th ultimo, but absconded before new Warrant was issued. Warrant now issued :— One tooth out of front of mouth in upper jaw, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 0 feet 2 inches high, about 26 years of age, very fair hair : wore a black cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Doherty, native of Kingshog Commons, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd February, 1885, in the barony of West Offaly, parish of Kildangan, seriously assaulted Denis Dempsey, gamekeeper to the Marquis of Drogheda, at Eskerhill, when warned off the land :— Ill- looking, brown eyes, hooked nose, pale yellow complexion, full round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 indies high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a fur cap, black tweed coat and trowsevs, strong boots ; may now be wearing jerry hat, tweed suit with \ yliito or gray spots; is a notorious poacher. DESCRIPTION of Anthony Byrne, believed fictitious, alleged native of Ballylea, Dunlavin, who stands charged with having, on or about the 27th January, 1885, in the barony of South Naas, parish of Bran- noxtown, county of Kildare, stolen two heifers, the property of W. H. Gaussen, Esq., of Newtown Villa, Kilcullen:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is dark; dark complexion, round face, 5 feet1 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 years of age. dark brown hair; wore a soft jerry hat, can be identified, dark cloth monkey jacket and dark trowsers, both greasy; has the appearance of a butcher's porter. DESCRIPTION of Cornelius Buckley, native of Rusheens, who stands charged with having, on the 18th February, 1885, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Kilgarvan, assaulted Jeremiah Harrington ; Shaves all his face, light moustache, small brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair ; wore a round jerry bat. dark twaed c'ont, light tweed browsers and ' vest; is a labourer. Kilkenny, DESCRIPTION of Michael O'Brien, natjve of Dun- more, county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the nightof 1st or morning of 2nd March, 1885, in the barony of Knocktopher, parish of Derry- nahinch, stolen a bullock, the property of Catherine Walsh, of Castlegannon, and sold the animal at Waterford Fair on 2nd instant:— Evil and two black marks on neck, high cheek bones, gray or blue eyes, long straight nose, fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 25 or 30 years of age, brown hair, fair moustache and whiskers, shaves bis chili ; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of the bullock :— Three years old, whitish colour with blue shade, long horns, legs red from the knees down, in g" od condition; value for £ 12. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who on the 6th March, 1885, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County:— Henry Dalton, No. 759, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose and mouth, oval visage, burn marks on chest, dots on left arm ; for- merly belonged to South Dublin Union; parents both dead ; has a cousin in Lucan; may go there. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trowsers, vest, and tunic, elastii belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch), and stroug blucher boots. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who on the 23rd February, 1885, absconded from the Philip own Reformatory School, King's County :— Thomas Bryan, 788, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage, scar under right eye, formerly belonged to Water- ford, his parents reside, at Little Patrick- street; Waterford. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of corduroy trow* ers, vest, and tunic, elastic belt, blue cloth cap ( Scotch), and strong blucher boots. This boy absconded with Richard Halpin, a Dublin boy.
