WANTED at Hexham, for obtaining money on the 21th ult. by false pretences, John Campbell:— States he is a farmer, about 60 years of age, about 6 feet 10 inches high, brown hair and whiskers mixed with gray, dark eyes, fresh complexion, ordinary figure, Scotch dialect; wants fore and little fingers of right hand; dressed in home- spun tweed cloth, colour nearly black ; wore a plaid round his shoulders fastened with a pin in front, black felt hat, and lace- up boots. He was convicted in Ayrshire in 1874, in the name of M'Culloch, for fraud, and is supposed to have been since convicted of fraud in Wigton- shire and Dublin ; was discharged from custody in Ireland in July, 1876, in the name of Robert Craig, alias Gray, alias M'Culloch; was wanted for fraud in Kirkcudbrightshire in 1880, and in Cumberland in 1883. Licence- holder Patrick Murphy, described in Hue- and- Cry of 10th of last June, has not been arrested. SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED for theft of three watches entrusted to him to repair, between the 1st November and 20th January last, Stephen Johns:— A collier or jobbing watchmaker, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair and moustache, whiskers shaved off, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, slender build, speaks with an English accent; wore a black hard felt hat, gray tweed jacket, dark cord vest and trowsers. Has a smart military appearance ; served 12 years in the 21st Regiment, and was discharged in August, 1883. In his Army attestation papers his next- of- kin is his father, Samuel Johns, Bickington, Newton Abbot, Devonshire. He absconded from Ayr on 20th January. May be found at collieries or travelling as a jobbing watchmaker, or in a militia barracks undergoing preliminary training. Wan- ant issued. Description of the Watches :— Two of the watches have been recovered, the other is an English patent lever silver watch, No. 41602, flowered dial, gold chapters, steel hands, figures on dial defaced. STOLEN from a dwelling- house in Tarbrax county on 2nd January, 1885, a black corded cloth overcoat, single- breasted, two outside pockets in skirts with flaps, pocket on left breast, lined with black Italian lining, and sleeves with black and red striped lining, bound with fine braid ; a gray checked tweed vest, single- breasted, much worn; a dark checked wincey shirt; a light coloured inoroon worsted cravat, with long fringes ; a brown imitation sealskin cap with flaps. Wanted on the above charge, James Little:— Is ^^^ x> urer, 30 years of age, 6 feet inches high, round face, fresh complexion, large front teeth, stout build, light brown hair, and reddish whiskers. May be now wearing the stolen property. Accused was discharged, as medically unfit, from the Seaforth Highlanders on 19th April last, and was granted 7d. per day of pension. STOLEN on night of 17th January, 1885, by means of housebreaking from a colliery office in Cambus- lang county, entrance effected by breaking a pane of glass in the window, and undoing the snib :— A navy blue serge suit, consisting of shooting coat, vest, and trowsers, maker's name " Alexander Stewart, Glas- gow," on hanger of coat and buttons of trowsers ; a brown and black checked Scotch tweed jacket; a pair of trowsers of same material as jacket. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Reilly ( fictitious), native place unknown, and a man, name and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 18th or morning of 19th December, 1884, in the barony of Clankee, parish of Knockbride, stolen a heifer, the property of Alice Hand, value £ 3 10s., and sold it in the fair of Cootehill on the 19th inst. The heifer has been recovered:— 1. Slightly stooped shoulders, small side whiskers, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a low soft hat, bright tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, and laced boots, toe of one broken. 2. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 3rd February, 1885, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School at Upton, co. Cork :— Patrick Buttler, 17 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, medium mouth; formerly belonged to Cappawhite, county Tipperary ; his parents reside at Beggins. The school dress consists of corduroy trowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, dark tweed coat, leather belt, blue striped shirt, all with Reformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, and nailed boots fastened with leather straps. The mother of this boy is a blind woman, begging about the country, having three or four children along with her. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with J£ 1. ( 30039 m.— 56344.) DESCRIPTION of two persons, supposed to be Michael Kelly and his wife, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, on the night of 30th November, or morning of 1st December, 1884, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Killaghtee, murdered one Bridget Cunningham:— 1. Swaggering gait, brown moustache, small side whiskers, brown eyes, regular nose, rather pale com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, black hair, turning gray; wore a round black felt hat, old gray coat rather long, dark coloured trowsers; is an itinerant fiddler. 2. Blue eyes, long pointed nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old dark gray shawl; is a tramp, and accompanies No. 1 from town to town. Woman tattooed on chest, and a sailor on one of his wrists, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair and moustache; wore a black felt hat, black cloth coat, and light tweed trowsers; is a labourer. 2. Brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a black hat trimmed with red velvet, red dress, black jacket, and stolen boots ; is the wife of No. 1. Description of the property:— An oil coat, new, the property of the D. W. and W. Railway Company, No. 52 on one of the skirts inside at corner, buttonholes and pockets cased with leather; a pair of woman's boots, laced, nearly new; a black shawl with silk fringe, new; a new plaid skirt, brown and black, with small crossbar; a black velvet lady's jacket, small, fits the waist tight, a maroon- coloured skirt, trimmed with black velvet; a small round coat ( man's), black serge ; and a red carpet bag ; all value for ahout £ 2 10s. DESCRIPTION of Luke Brody or Broder ( mother's surname Cunningham ( Clonlara, county Clare) ), native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having, on the 31st January, 1885, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St Tobias, dangerously assaulted Mary O'Neill, by striking her on the head with a tongs:— Gray eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a round jerry hat, tweed frock coat, old dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Kane, native of Dunboggan, who stands charged with having, on the night of 23rd December, 1884, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, assaulted Patrick Hourican so as to endanger his life :— Walks erect, Yankee appearance, small dark moustache and " imperial," cheeks shaved; gray eyes,, slightly cocked nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a black coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a shoemaker. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Kerr, native of Bally- nacargey, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of December, 1884, in the barony of Moydow, parish of Killashee, embezzled certain sums of money ( amount unknown), the property of Mathew Davison, of Moate :— Has a small boil over one eye, hazel eyes, long nose, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round black hat, striped Ulster coat, light trowsers, and brown vest; is a tea agent and shop assistant. This woman is probably in one of the northern counties. Her occupation is most likely that of a prostitute;— Dark eyes, small cocked nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair ; is a servant girl or prostitute. DESCRIPTION of Isaac Fisher, native of Ballybay, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 30th January, 1885, in the barony of Dartrey, parish of Aghabog, stolen out of the dwelling- house of John Richardson, of Drumbrain, where he was lodging, a Boston lever watch which has since been recovered:— Tatooed on both wrists, dark and tender eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, dark brown hair, wears moustache ; wore a low soft hat, gray frock coat, brown coloured trowsers and vest, and old boots; is a flax scutcher. May be wearing new dark tweed trowsers he bought in Clones. Served in the army, and is a militia man. Likely to be found working at some scutch mill in county Monaghan or neighbouring counties. DESCRIPTION of John O'Brien, native of county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the night of 22nd December, 1884, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Eirk, broken into the dwelling- house of Mary Brophy, and robbed her of the sum of 17s. :— Broad square shoulders, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, shaves all his face except moustache ; wore a soft hat, frieze coat, cord trowsers; is a tramp and labourer. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th February, 1885, in the barony of Upper Ormond, ( parish of Nenagh, stolen from the lodging- house of I Thomas Butler, of Nenagh ( the owner of the property), a whitish corduroy trowsers, new piece in bottom of each leg, a pair of bellows- tongued boots nearly new, a pair of gray worsted socks, a new flannel waistcoat, and 9s. 6d. in silver and coppers :— Fair complexion, thin hardy make, about 5 feet 6 inches high, about 55 years of age; wore a blue coat, reddish tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramping vagrant. Anderson, alias M'Craynor ( mother's surname M'Craynor), native of Sixmile- cross, who stands charged with having, on the 21st October and 6th November, 1884, in the barony of East Omagh, parish of Termonmaguirk, written and posted two threatening letters :— Carbuncles on face, square shoulders, smart active appearance; dark eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, rather long face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high; about 27 or 28 years of age, dark hair-; wore a round hard hat, blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th December, 1884, at Clorogemore, in the barony of scarawalsh, parish of Templeshambo, fired at and wounded John Murphy, gamekeeper :— Brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, sandy or fair complexion, round full face, medium make, active appearance, about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, light or brown hair $ wore a soft hat, old faded or dirty tweed clothes, and in the coat there was a grayish stripe; is a poacher. This man was poaching when he fired the shot, and was accompanied by another man about the same age and size, and somewhat similarly dressed. They had with them a red setter, with white muzzle, and tip of tail believed to be white, and a black dog, supposed a cross between a pointer and grayhound. DESCRIPTION of Michael Flanagan and William Connor, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 12th instant, at Laragh, in the barony of Ballinacor, parish of Derrylossery, broken open a vacant dwelling- house, and did tear up, damage, and destroy a timber partition in said dwelling- house, and were burning same when arrested by the Police; supposed may have com- mitted offences elsewhere:— 1. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high,, about 23 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a black cloth cap with peak, black cloth jack coat, gray tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a tramp. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 18 years of age, fair hair; wore an old round hard hat, old dark tweed coat, barragan trowsers, and old dark tweed vest; is a tramp.
