IDENTIFICATION OF UNCLAIMED BODIES. The attention of the Editor has been directed to the want of any system existing for the publication of descriptions of dead bodies coming into the hands of Police, and which are buried without having been iden- tified. It having been suggested that the particulars should be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, the Editor • will be glad to print any information which it may be considered desirable to publish. IDENTIFICATION OF PRISONERS. The Editor desires to call attention to the fact that all photographs of prisoners in custody, trans- mitted to the Convict Branch of the Metropoli- tan Police Office, for purposes of identification, are seen by the police and warders who visit all prisoners under remand, in the Metropolitan Police District three times a week. This system, esta- blished in 1879, has been the means of ascertaining the previous convictions of 7000 prisoners, and affords great facilities to Chief Officers of Police, and the Governors of Her Majesty's Prisons. Such photographs are also compared with the albums in the Convict Office con- taining the portraits of all Convicts liberated in the Kingdom, which are further open to the personal examination of any police officer or warder. TINSLEY BROTHERS, 8, CATHERINE STREET, STRAND- " HIM THAT COMETH TO ME I WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT," And how many weary souls have rested on that same word of Christ's ! In the faith of it great minds and weak intellects have launched out into eternity. Bishop Butler, when dying, expressed his fears that the Lord would not receive him. His chaplain re- minded him that Jesus had said, " Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out" ; to which the Bishop replied, " I never saw that before"; and the great thinker, with the simplicity of a child, pillowed his head upon the promise, and fell asleep. " How did you obtain deliverance 1" I asked of one who would be reckoned amongst Paul's " weak things." " Oh, sir," was the reply, " the more I struggled the deeper I sank in the mire, till at length I got deliverance through the smallest word in the Bible. In my ex- tremity this promise came to my heart with power :— ' Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out'; and I got relief to my soul, not. so much from what He said, as from seeing WHO said it.
