The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. WO tie ® .— It ia requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Slgnatnre of lb* person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in roference to the POLICE GAZETTE may he made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably accessary that en information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence oharged, and an attested copy thereof, together with *, he advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mn « i be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • I Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must » tate clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed cr accompanied by a letter, signed by tne persons forwarding them. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Whereas on 19th ultimo, Robert Hudson, day watchman on board the s. B. ' Ashington,' belonging to Messrs. Milburn and Co., of London and Newcastle, aud moored at Smith's BuoyB, Biver Tyne, North Shie'ds, was found to be missing from his post, and on 26th ultimo his dead body, with frac- tured skull and dislocated vertebra, was found conceded in the bilges of said vessel. A coroner's jury have returned a verdict of 1 Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Notice is hereby given, that Her Majesty's Government offer A REWARD of £ 100 to any person ( other than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom) who Bhall give such infor- mation and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and con- viction of the Murderer, or Murderers, and the Secrttiry of State will advise the Grant of Her Majesty's Gracious PARDON to any Accomplice not being the person who actually com- mitted the Murder, who shall give tush evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information is requested from any person cr person, who, on 19th ultimo, conveyed any person or persons on board of the above- mentioned s. s. ' Asbington,' or conveyed him or them on shore from the said vessel, or from the steam tugs ' Joseph Hazell" and ' Defiance,' moored respectively to the starboard bow and quarter of s. s. ' Ashington,' on the evening and night of above- mentioned date ; also with reference to a brass round- faced engine- room Clock, alleged to be missing from engine- room of said vessel ; also as to ownership of a white linen handkerchief, marked ' K. Wanted under a warrant at King's Lvnn, charged wiili uttering a forged Byi 0f Acceptance for £ 5 : — JAMES STL WART, alias JAKES STEWART ROBSON, 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, brown hair, florid com- plexion, brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, stout build, wears spectacles; dressed in black frock coat, dark trousers, and silk hat; very gentlemanly address, is a pro- fessional singer, native of Liverpool, where he states he was in business as a shipowner He is accompanied by his wife, a small, thin, sickly- looking person, and one child ; she gene rally appears in a shabby, light- colourid ulster. He advertises himself as an accountant, and gets an introduction to Church Choirs, and Bings with them. Was last heard of at the Cambrian Boarding House, E. India- road, London. Has been sentenced to 6 months at the Norfolk Assizes, in 1880, for similar offence. Information to G. Ware, Head Constable, KINGS LYNN.— Bow- street, December 27. JOBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person on 19th instant:— a geitleman's gold keyless pocket chronometer Watch, white dial, plain smooth cases, maker M. G. Colling wood, 21, South- street, Middlesbro', No. 10940, the bow supposed to be broken off. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the watch, and the conviction of the thief or thieves. Charged with breaking into a shop at Stoke- on- Trent, on 9th instant, and stealing silk Handkerchiefs and other articles of men's apparel :— SAMUEL B ATH, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and light coloured moustache, blue cut mark on nose, rough dirty appearance, a collier, and associates with prostitutes, supposed klo » n in Derbyshire; dressed in black cloth jacket, pockets on hips, light grey trousers, black hard hat, or double peake cap, lace- up boots. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Broxted, Essex, on 16th instant:— a grey melton Overcoat; a worsted plaid Overcoat; a black cloth sleeved Waistcoat; a light cloth Vest; a pair of new black kid Gloves ; and two Hand- kerchiefs. By two men now in custody on the charge, property recovered :— one, HENRY DAVIDSON, 26 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, grey eye", sallow complexion, dark brown hair, slight moustache, ' TH. T. D.', beait, and cross on right forearm; he states he has been a trimmer on board the steam ship ' Consent', < f South Shields, Captaia Smith. The other JOHN GAMLYN, 18 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and sallow com- plexion ; states that he worked for Measiv. Saunders, Bros., van proprietors, of No. 3, Ham pstead- street, Fitzroy- square, as a porter, about 12 months ago. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 4 pm. 15th and 1 am. 16th instant:— a spade Guinea, a spade Half- guinea, a small Diamond out of a ring; a small oval gold Locket, with diamond- shaped shield raised on front; a pair of gold Solitaire?, fancy pattern; a silver oval Locket, medium size, horseshoe one side, monogram ' E. M. F.' the other ; a link- pattern silver Neck'et, fastens with a clasp ; a pair of lady's small Opera- glasses, outside cases mother- o'- pearl, barrel and mountings aluminium, about 2 inches long when closed, and weie in a blue velvet case lined with white satin. Wanted for shopbreaking at Stoke- on- Trent, on 9th instant, aud stealing a man's dark mixture Suit; boy's Trousers and Vest, brown mixture, knicker make ; a Jacket and Vest, same material, but lighter mixture ; a Jacket, ditto, black metal buttons on trpusers, black bone buttons on jacket and vest, vests lined with slate selitia ; a boy's small brown mixture Overcoat, single breasted, plain collar, brown buttons, ulster make, brown Italian lining; a common brown Cardigan Jacket;; about one dozen white silk Handkerchiefs; several coloured Ditto ; and a man's black or dark Overcoat: — two meD, the first about 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 ins. high, labourer, native of Stoke- on- Trent, pale comp'exion, long thin face, clean shaved, very large full eyes, slender, king's evil marks on left side of neck, and a slight lump under the jaw; second about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, bricklayer's labourer, fresh complexion, dark moustache, supposed small side whiskers, dark hair, bine eyes, rather stout; the first man will most probably be found wearing the suit of stolen clothes, as he left his old ones bshind. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING The Pony, supposed stolen from Clowstop, advertised in Police Gazette 21st instant, has been found at Clifton- upon- Teme — Bow- street, December 28. Stolen in Rochdale, on 20th instant:— a bay Horse, aged, 15 hands 3 inches high, light bay legs, a dinge in one of the fore hoofs ; also a set of plated Harness. By a man, a native of Reading, Berks, and stated he was employed as a traveller, by Fairbent, Bios. & Co., tea merchants, Leicester, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or b inches high, fresh complexion, very light hair, and slight light coloured moustache, no whiskers; dressed in blsck hard felt hat, light coloured close- fitting jacket, light mixture vest, and light tweed trousers, with grey and black stripe, elastic- side boots, block fronts, clothing and boots much worn. Also by the same man: — a lady's gold lever Watch, No. 87135, - engine- turned case, the inner case brass, com- pensating balance. Information to Jos. Wilkinson, Chie Constable, ROCHESTER.— Bow- street, December 24. Stolen between 5.30 p. m. 18th and 7.30 a. m. 19th, from Chapel Farm, Eltham :— 3 Horses, 1st, bay carriago Gelding, 15 hands 21 iuches high, black points, recently blistered for splints, and ragged mane; 2nd, bay carriage ditto, 16 hands high, 5 years old. black poirts, star on forehead, and large splints inside and outside both fore legs ; 3rd, dark grey cart Mare, 16 hands 2 inches high, fired on off fore fetlock, long mane and tail, dark and light hair on near hind heel. These horses have been turned out, and their coats are very rougb, and they will require shoeing. A reward of J10 will" be paid by W. LARC£ JJTY AND EMBEZZLEMENT 1 Description of JACOB SILBERT, a traveller for Myer Thomas, watchmaker, & c., 286, Broad Street, Birmingham, wanted under a warrant, charged with stealing the following Watches, & c. ( not recovered), the property of his employer, on 21st December last:— a gold Watch, gold dial, 18 ct., No. 97760; a silver English Lever, No. 19794 ; a silver English Lever, No. 42143, engine- turned cases; a silver English Lever, small size. No. 20649 ; a silver English Lever, No. 19210 ; a silver English Lever, No. 30364 ; a silver Eag'iah Lever, crystal glass, No. 5718 ; a silver English Lever, large size, Ko. 22629; a lady's silver Geneva, No. 4183; a lady's silver Geneva, 4631 ; an alumiumm keyless Watch, and 9 pier Glasses, eleptic pattern. He is a Jew, late of Dalton and Derby Streets, Liverpool, and has recently obtained a pedlars certificate from Newport, Monmouthshire, 22 years if age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark hair and complexion, dark moustache, no whiskers; dressed in light small check cloth suit of clothes and billy cock hat. Defccripiion of a woman who pledged the articles, reported stolen from Gorton :— gave the name of ANN BAILEY, about 30 yerrs of age, 5 feet high, daik complexion, small features, rather icclined to be stout; dressed in dark blue dress, and a grey plaid shawl over her head. Information to County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester.— Bcw- st., December 27. Sto'en on 25th instant, at Lynn :— a lady's gold Geneva Watch, figured back, open face, gold dial, with long gold- plated Chain attached. By a tramping fitter, native of Not- tingham, 36 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark brown hair, dark complexion, whiskers, and moustache, chin shaved ; dressed in black coat, vest, and trousers, and black felt hat. Absconded from Aldersbot on 22cd instant, charged with stealing a pair of gent's Boots ( recovered) :— a woman 30 to 35 years of age, slight build, thin and pale, about 5 feet 2 or 3 incl. es high, lost several ( top) front teeth. Is stated to te well known at No. 9, Lady Lake Grove, Mile End Road, London, E. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Hants Constabulary, ALDERSHOT.— Bow- street, Decembyr 27. Charged with stealing from the dwelling- house of James Barnes, at Newport Pagnell, on morning of 19th instant:— a snuff- coloured tweed Coat, with two pockets outsid » , with lappets, and four inside, two in breast, and two large ones in tail, in good condition ; also a coloured silk Handkerchief, and 4s. Od. in Money. By a man named WILLIAM FABMER, a tramping chimney- sweep, about 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, swarthv complexion, dark hair, inclined to curl, dark eyes and moustache, walks s; olay- footed ; dressed in an old long dark coal and trousers, round black hard felt hat, lace- up boots, one of which has had a round piece cut out of front, and a soft piece sewn in. By a mar, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, medium build, sharp features, fresh complexion, brown hair, clean shaven face ; dressed in a round jacket tight- fitting trousers, and black hard felt hat, wore rough woollen gloves with magenta- coloured cuffs, and carried a kaotted walking- stick ; he has a habit of snapping his fingers frequently while conversing, and had the appearance of a groom or jockey. Absconded, charged with stealing £ 22, the moneys of his employer :— a man 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes ; dressed in black ribbed overcoat, brown tweed suit, black hard felt hat, lace boots, limps with right leg. Information to the Director of Crimiual Investi- gations, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, December 24. Stolen:-, a heavy two- handled half gallon niukle silver Wine Cup, embossed with roses, crest on one side, ' a dog rampaDt,' and on the other side the letters ' R. C. F.' or ' F. C. R.' in monogram, old, valued at £ 20. By a man 22 years of age, 5 feet ( J inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown bair, cut mark right of under lip, a billiard player; dressed in a brown Newmarket overcoat, lace- up boots, black billycock hat, and resided in London. Informa- tion to the Superintendent, County Police Office, BOOTLE, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 21. Absconded, charged with stealing on 24th October last: — a square French striking Clock, no case, enamelled dial, ' No. 2159' on works; a small brass horizontal Time- piece ; a green bronze Time- piece, verge movements: — JOHN WAYLEDGE, a German watchmaker, 50 years of age, 5 ft. 10 inches high, slight build, sallow complexion, grey eyes, dark brown bair, whiskers, and moustache ( turning grey), scar on forehead ; dressed in black frock coat, black cloth trousers and vest, lace boot*, hard felt hat, shabby appearance; ho is known at Dartmouth, and may be found at some provincial town. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, December 21. Stolen during the night of 11th instant, at Westbury, Wilts:— a pair of cheaply made light lace- up Boots, small man's size, nearly new, bradded round heels and soles, double soles and toe- caps ; a small plum Pudding boiled in a basin : an old alpacca Umbrella, faded and recently capped, knotted handle nearly straight, with imitation of ivory inlaid in knots; and two speckled ribbed worsted stockings, nearly new, one larger than the other, and one has a seam up the bottom of the foot. Supposed by a tramp, from 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, rather stout build, dark hair, small side whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin; dressed iu a tweed jacket, speckled or grey colour, supposed fustian or moleskin trousers, aud brown leather leggings. Absconded from Sherborne, Dorset, on 15th instant, charged with stealing £ 5 in Silver :— LUTHER G03NEY, a labourer, 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, slight build, mark of a burn over right eye; dressed in dark clothes and hard felt hat. Charged with stealing a potato Fork, 1st instant ( re- covered) :— JOHN SMITH, about 55 years of age, 5 { eft 5 or 6 inches high, proportionate build, dark hair and small grey whiskers around bis face, bald on top of head, long face, leans a little forward when walking : dressed in a dark grey coat rather long for him, lined with striped flannel, new drab slop jacket, cotton cord waistcoat and trousers, strong lace- up boots, tips on heels, jimcrow hat and red and white striped mufiler round his neck. BROWN, alias BILLY, a trampiue rag- gatherer, 30 to 33 years ol age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, and whiskers on sides of face, proportionate figure, has a large BCald or burn mark on left side of face, covered by hi3 whiskers ; dressed in black coat and vest, moleskki trousers, double peaked cloth cap. old elastic- side boots. And ROSE ANN, alias ANN BROWN, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark com- plexion, black hair, thick about the ears, slender figure, states she is the wife of the last named person; dressed in blue dress, two flounces at, bottom, stiiped " leeves, leng black jacket and black hat, and is nluch addicted to drink. Thomas Ward gives address at Haydock- street, War lington, and states he is 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, slender build, and was wearing cap and low shoes or clogs, has a burn mark under left forearm, and a mole under each shoulder- blade. They had when arrested, several keys in their possession, and Ward was wearing a white linen shirt underneath a coloured one, the white Bhirt marked ' 210 I 14' on collar. The names, & c. they gave are supposed fictitious, frcm the conversation that was overheard between them it is thought they have been in custody elsewhere, and aa they are likely to be re- arreated on another charge, it is important to know their antecedents.
