ENGLISH POLICE. £ 20 REWARD. STOLEN from a pawn shop, at Miles Platting, between 10 40 P. M. on the 8th instant, and 6 10 A. M. on the 10th instant, viz. 44 gold wedding rings; 33 gold keeper rings ; 17 sets coral beads, gold snaps ; 9 gold dress rings; 5 gold Albert guards 1 2 silver guards; 4 gold brooches; 1 gold brooch, with coral in centre; 1 gold massive breast pin, horseshoe pattern ; 1 sitver breast pin; 4 gold lockets and chains; 1 silver locket and hrooch ; 2 silver medals for Zulu war, each marked " Wolfenden"; 1 silver medal marked " Mitchell"; 1 gold oblong- shaped locket, diamond in centre ; also £ 137 10s. in gold, and £ 46 10*. in silver. The above reward will be paid by the owner for the recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, and the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves. November 16 1883. ( 27498 M.— 50646.) £ 100 REWARD. WILFUL MURDER. WHEREAS, at 5 W A. M. on Thursday, the 4tji instant, the dead body of Jonas Bottomley, confectioner, Keighley, was found lying, face downwards, on the canal side, near Monk Bridge Forge, in this borough, and on medical examination, there were found a large wound on the forehead and another on the back of the head. There was missing from his vest pocket ( supposed stolen) a medium- sized gold Geneva watch, silver gilt dial much worn, and flowered back also much worn. An inquest was held on the 18th instant, and a verdict of wilful murder returned against some person or persons unknown. Notice is hereby given that the above reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than a person belonging to a Police force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such infor- mation and evidence, as shall lead to the discovery arid conviction of. the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually c6mmitted the murder, who shall give Such evidence as | hall lead tp a like result. ( 27329 M.— 50360.) i £ 100 REWARD. 1 • MURDER. • WASTED for the murder of John Dukes, In Hi' street, Birmingham, on the night of the 5th August, 1883, Martin M'Gann and William Ryan :— 1. Description of Martin M'Gann— About 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, hair brewn, coni- plexion fair, slightly freckled, proportionate build; cut sear on left cheek; walks erect; speaks slowly, with an Irish accent Dressed in a dark coat, brown trowsers, and silk handkerchief round his neck. Trade, wood button turner. 2. Description of William Ryan— Age 19, height 5 feet 6 or 7 inches,, hair dark, complexion sallow, thin build. Dressed, when last seen, in a dark cuta- way, coat and black greasy trowsors. Trade, a brass caster. The above- named men absconded from Birming- ham on the 25th August las'ty, both having lived in Grosvenor- street, Ladywood, Birmingham, and are welt known in Essington- street, Birmingham, where they formerly resided. A verdict of wilful murder against M'Gann and Ryan was returned by the Coroner's Jury at the in- quest, held at Birmingham on the 13th September instant, and the Coroner has issued his Warrants for their apprehension. Notice is hereby given, that Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 100 to any person other than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and con- viction of the murderer' or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. LICENCE- HOLDER, A 122, Samuel Anderson, alias John Hennessy or Murphy :— A painter, native of Maryboro,' 76 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, medium build, gray hair, gray eyes, sallow complexion, oval features, lost nearly all his teeth, convicted at Omagh, county Tyrone, 13th October, 1879, of larceny and previous conviction, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; liberated from H. M. Convict Prison, Mountjoy, 12th ultimo. On the 13th ultimo he reported himself at Liverpool, and stated he was going to Manchester, but has not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. No. 639, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1883. Licence- holder, Philip Doyle, 14,738, has not been arrested; Hue- and- cry, 7th November, 1882. SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED here, on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with the crime of theft, viz., stealing a clarionet, on the. 3rd instant, Herbert Peter Lisle:— A musician, 35 to 40 years of age, dark hair inclining, to curl, parted down the centre, dark moustache and iiliperiilf no whiskers, thin face, ruddy complexion, clean smart appearance, a native of Dublin, tattooed on one of the arms and some of the fingers ; wore a black corded coat, black cloth trowsers and vest, black felt hat, militia shirt, also a white linen and yellow and white striped Thibet shirt ( wore the latter topmost), dark scarf with yellow spot, and military boots. The clarionet has been recovered in Kilmarnock. He served some time in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, deserted, was punished, and igno- miniously discharged. Is married ; his wife is said to be in Liverpool or Dublin. He was formerly in America, his parents having emigrated there some time Police Constables are requested' to make search for and apprehend the said Herbert Peter Lisle, and communicate with R. D. WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged • with the theft of a cheque for £ 29 15a. from the office of his employers, Messrs. Montgomerie and Flemings, Writers, 241, Saint Yincent- street, on 13th instant, and which he same day got cashed at the Royal Bank of Scotland, St. Vincent- street, and absconded, Edward* Scott;— A clerk, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, stout make, round face, fresh complexion, heavy dark moustache, otherwise clean shaved ; dressed in a dark suit, brown overcoat, and black felt hat; smart and gentlemanly appearance ; is of loose habits, and likely to seek the company of prostitutes ; resided at 22, Lyndoch- street. Polico Officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an Officer will bo sent for him. 1 A. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. FRAUD OF £ 42. WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged with having, on the 2nd inst., fraudulently obtained £ 42 from Wyllie and Lochhead, Buchanan- street, Cameron M'Leod A clerk, between 45 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender made, thin faco, sallow complexion, dark hair, dark moustache,, no heard or whiskers ; dressed in a small checked; dark twoed jacket suit and dark tweed Ulster; smart appoarancc, carries a walking stick.. He has a deep, scar from bullet wound on right temple, and was a Paymaster Sergeant in 71st Regiment up till 1879. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the. subscriber, when an officer will be sent for him. . WANTED, for burglary at Holyhead on the 30th ultimo, William Patrick Reilly, Supervisee D 806:— Ago 28 years, height 5 feet 6i inches, proportionate built, dark liair, gray eyes, two blue marks between loft thumb and forefinger, marks of flogging on back, left ankle fractured, numerous scars on head nnd hands, and cut- mark on cheek; convicted at Beaumaris Assises, 12th July, 1877, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' Police Supervision. DESCRIPTION of John Kelly ( no fixed residence), who stands charged with having on the 19t, h No- vember, 1883, in the barony of B. unratty Lower, parish of Kilnasoolagh, stolen a number of rabbits, the property of Lord Inchiquin, of Dromoland : — Slovenly £ ait, deep mark of an old cut 6n nose and cheek, gray eyes, cocked nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a low soft hat, black coat, cord trowsers, and black vest. DESCRIPTION of cattle which were stolen from the farm of the late Miss Ellen O'Leary, in the townland of Clonroad, parish of Drumcliffe, county of Clare, on the 8th December, 1883 :— Two Kerry heifers, 3 years old, black and white, straight horns; two heifers, 2J years old, all red; two heifers, 2A yearB old, strawberry colour; one bWlock, 2 years old, strawberry colour; one bullock, 2 years old, black and white; three calves, 9 months old, all red; one calf, 9 months old, spotted red and white. DESCRIPTION of James Regan, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 16th November, 1^ 3, in the barony of Cork, parish of Holy Trinity, passed two base florins, and is returned for trial to Winter Assizes to be held in Cork on 7th prox. There is every reason to believe, he is a returned convict, or was coiivicted before, and may possibly be known to the Police in either Liverpool, Birmingham,' Manchester,' Sheffield, Leeds, or London:—' Rupture on right side of abdomen, slightly knock- kneed, turns out his toes when walking,, speaks with an English acceint, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inche s high, about 60 years of age, gray hair ; wore a soft felt hat, blue pilot pea jacket, cord trowsers, and barragan vest,. black and white woollen muffler, and strong laced boots ; lost several teeth. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Leahy ( mother's surname- Leahy), native of Fevatia, who stands charged with having, on the 4th December, 1883, in the baropv of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleisland. seriously assaulted Patrick Herlihy, so as to endanger his life';— Deeply pockmarked, speaks with a drawling voice; gray eyes, large nose, swarthy, complexion, broad face, stout make, 5. fpet 9 inches high, about 24 years of a'ge, jet black hair; wore a hara black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers,. and vest; is a farmer's sor.. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Deady, native - of Bally- knockane, who, on the 26th Noveurber, 1883, in the barony of Corkaguiny, parish of Kilquane, left his house at Ballyknockane, and has not since been heard of, and it is feared some harm has befallen him Hare lip, deaf and dumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches nigh, about 70 yeal- s of age, gray hair ; wore a hard woollen hat, flannel trowsers and vest; is a small farmer: Dingle, December 7, 1883. BETWEEN 6 P. M. on 6th instant and 7 A. M. on the 7th instant, the vestry of the Roman Catholic Church at Celbridge was broken iuto and the following articles stolen :— 1. A silver chalice, gilt on inside, about 9 inches high, gilding worn off at bottom. 2. A small silver chalice, about 7 inches high, with the inscription on bottom " Presented to the parish of Celbridge " and a date ( about 100 years ago). 3. A silver pyx, about 4 inches in diameter, and 2 inches deep in the centre. 4. A large quantity of gold lace and gold, orna- ments ripped from off the priest's vestments ( about 100 yards), varying from 1 to 2 inches wide ; also some gold fringe from 2 to 4 inches deep. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 12th or morning of the 13th November, 1883, in the barony of Clane, parish of Caragh, stolen one bullock and one heifer, the property of Peter Byrne, of Donore:— Medium make, about 5 feet 11 inches high, about 40 years of age, chin shaven, had whiskers and beard under his chin ; wore a dark coat and tweed trowsers; had the appearance of a farmer. DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey ( mother's name Mary Cashin), native of Smithstown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, in a public house, at Mullinavat, in the barony of Knock- topher, parish of Kilbeacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, by striking him on the forehead with a glass tumbler, from the effects of which his life is nqw in imminent danger, though he did not complain thereof until 16th instant;— Has a cut ( which may be now healed) on the palm of right hand, from the effects of tho tumbler breaking therein when striking Dollard, clean face without either beard or whiskers, gray or blue eyes, regalar nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, ft feet 7 J inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; woro a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer, and it is believed he left for America on 16th instant. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Clarke ( mother's surname Lenaghan), native of Runnabol, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of October, 1883, in the barony of frenchpark, parish of Kilmacumsey, dangerously assaulted Patrick Beirne, from the effects of which his life was in danger:— Mark of an old cut on forehead, a hollow on crown of head from the effect of a stroke of a stone, rather short neck, and slightly stooped, dark eyes, regiilar nose,' sallow complexion, regular fuce, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6' inches high.^ about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark round hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. This man was admitted to bail to- take his trial at Winter Assizes, Sligo, on 4th instant, on above charge; he failed to appear. A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Strokestown, Dec. 5, 1883. DESCRIPTION of Peter M'Mullin, native of Cadian, county Tyrone, who, on the 7th October, 1883, in the barony of Dungannon; parish of Clonfeacle, and townland of Cadian, disappeared from his residence at Cadian, and has not since been heard of; he showed symptoms of derangement of mind for a short time previous, and it is feared something wrong may have happened to him :<— Stooped shoulders, and used a stick when walking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh connexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair; wore an old worsted cap, black coat, velvet on collar, black cord trowsers, and old brown vest. Pale complexion, thin face, stout make, low- sized, about 85 years of age, sandy whiskers; wore a round hat and blue pilot coat; is supposed to be a tramp. 2. Stout make, about 30 years of age ; wore a red plaid shawl. The man and woman were accompanied by a small spotted dog, either black and white or red and white.
