WANTED on a Bench Warrant, granted by the o at the Assize Court, York Castle, on the 14th instant, charged with perjury, John Bagen or Baigen, a gamekeeper, late of Brompton, near Scarborough, in the North Riding of Yorkshire:— From 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, slender build, sallow complexion, face very much freckled, auburn hair inclined to curl; sandy whiskers and moustache, downcast look, right shoulder up a little, hangs his head slightly down when walking, supposed to have been previously in the service of the Earl of Wicklow ; dressed when he left here on the 28th of September last in a gray tweed suit, same shape as generally worn by gamekeepers, black hard felt hat, and lacc- up boots. This man has a wife and three children who followed him, and left here on the lst October; wife about 30 years of age, about 5 foet high, stout build, sallow complexion, speaks with an Irish accent; dressed in a gray or brown winsey dress, black cloth jacket, black and white plaid shawl, black straw hat trimmed with black velvet, and elastic side boots, lst child, a girl about 6 years of age, fair complexion, brown hair, stodt full face; dressed in a gray winsey dress, gray Ulster, white straw hat trimmed with blue ribbon, and lace- up boots. Qn 1 child, a boy 4 vcars of age, light brown hair; dressed in a brown frock, gray Ulster coat, brown straw sailor hat with mixed verge, and lace boots. 3rd child, a boy 18 months old; wore a brown frock and black hood ; wife carried him in her arms wrapped up in a Mack and white plaid shawl. Information to Mr. Superintendent SPENCE, North Biding Constabulary Office, Pickering; or to Inspector DOVE, County Police Office, Falsgrave, Scarborough, who holds a Warrant for his apprehen- sion. November 10 1883. ( 27498 m— 50646.) £ 100 REWARD. WILFUL MURDER. WHEREAS, at 5 40 A. M. on Thursday, the 4th instant, the dead body of Jonas Bottomley, confectioner, Keighley, was found lying, face downwards, on the canal side, near Monk Bridge Forge, in this borough, and on medical examination, there were found a large wound on the lorehead and another on the back of the head. There was missing from his vest pocket ( supposed stolen) a medium- sized gold Genova watch, silver gilt dial much worn, and ( lowered back also much worn. An inquest was held on the 18th instant, and, a verdict of wilful murdqr returned against some person or persons unknown. Notice is hereby given that the above reward will he paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than u portion belonging to a Police force jin the United Kingdom) who shall give such' infor- mation and evidence . as shall lead to the discovery And conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the S ' cretury of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give sucl* evidence as shall lead to a like result. <* lnfommtion to . WANTED for the murder of John Dukes, in Hill- street, Birmingham, OH the night of the 5th August, 1883, Martin M'Gann and William Ryan :— 1. Description of Martin M'Gann— About 21 years « > f age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, hair brown, com- ploxion fair, slightly freckled, proportionate build; or heek ; walks erect; speaks slowly, t. Dressed in a dark coat, brown handkerchief round his neck, . ton turner. 2. Description of William Ryan— Age 19, height 5 feet 6 or 7 inches, hair dark, complexion sallow, thin build. Dressed, when last seen, in a dark cuta- way coat and black greasy trowsers. Trade, a brass caster. The above- named men absconded from Birming- ham on the 25th August last, both having lived in Grosvenor- street, Ladywood, Birmingham, and are well known in Essington- street, Birmingham, where they formerly resided. A verdict of wilful murder against M'Gann and Ryan was returned by the Coroner's Jury at the in- quest, held at Birmingham on the 13th September instant, and the Coroner has issued his Warrants for their apprehension. Notice is hereby given, that Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 100 to any person other than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and con- viction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. LICENCE- HOLDER, A 122, Samuel Anderson, alias John Hennessy or Murphy:— A painter, native of Maryboro,' 76 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, medium build, gray hair, gray eyes, sallow complexion, oval features, lost nearly all his teeth, convicted at Omagh, county Tyrone, 13th October, 1879, of larceny and previous conviction, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; liberated from H. M. Convict Prison, Mountjoy, 12th ultimo. On the 18tb ultimo he reported himself at Liverpool, and stated he was going to Manchester, but has not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. THEFT OF A CHEQUE FOR £ 29 15s. WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged with the theft of a cheque for £ 29 15 a. from the office of his employers, Messrs. Montgomerie and Flemings, Writers, 241, Saint Vincent- street, on 13th instant, and which lie same day got cashed at the Koyal Bank of Scotland, St. Vincent tstreet, and absconded, Edward* Scott:— A clerk, about 21 years of age, 6 feet 5| inches high, stout make, round face, fresh complexion, heavy dark moustache, otherwise clean shaved ; dressed in a dark suit, brown overcoat, and black felt hat; smart and geutlemanly appearance ; * This man's Christian name was incorrcctly given as " William " in the first instance. is of loose habits, and likely to seek the company of prostitutes ; resided at 22, Lyndoch- street. Police Officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an Officer will be sent for him. WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged with having, on the 2nd inst., fraudulently obtained £ 42 from Wyllie and Lochhead, Buchanan- street, Cameron M'Leod :— A clerk, between 45 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender made, thin face, sallow complexion, dark hair, dark moustache, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in a small checked dark tweed jacket suit and dark tweed Ulster; smart appearance, carries a walking stick. He has a deep scar from bullet wound on right temple, and was a Paymaster Sergeant in 71st Regiment up till 1879. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an officer will be sent for him. WANTED, for burglary at Holyhead on the 80th ultimo, William Patrick Reilly, Supervisee D 806 : — Age 28 years, height 5 feet 6- J- inches, proportionate built, dark hair, gray eyes, two blue marks between left thumb and forefinger, marks offioggingon back, left ankle fractured, numerous scars on head and hands, and cut- mark on cheek; convicted at Beaumaris Assises, 12th July, 1877, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' Police Supervision. DESCRIPTION of Farrell Tighe or M'Teague, native of Ballyleenan, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st June, 1883, in the barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Templeport, stolen two cows, the property of Mary and Kate Tighe, of Kilnavart, county Cavan— see Hue- and- Cry of 26th June, 1883 — Stooped shoulders, slight stoppage in speech, gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of ago, light brown hair; is a farm labourer. One of the cows belonging to Kate Tighe, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of 29th June last, has been found in possession of Michael Hardigan, who has been arrested and remanded. DESCRIPTION of James Regan, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the lflth November, 1883, ih the barony of Cork, parish of Holy Trinity, passed two base florins, and is returned for trial to Winter Assizes to be held in Cork on 7th prox. There is every reason to believe he is a returned convict, or was convicted before, and may possibly be known to the Police in either Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, or London :— Rupture on right side of abdomen, slightly knock- kneed, turns out his toes when walking, speaks with an English accent, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, gray hair; wore a soft felt hat, blue pilot pea jacket, cord trowsers, and barragan vest, black and white woollen muffler, and strong laced boots; lost several teeth. DESCRIPTION of Bridget Gallagher ( mother's sur- name Gavigan), native of Ardara, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th or morning of the 5th November, 1883, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Lower Killybegs, destroyed her infant female child :— Good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair ; is a small grocer. DESCRIPTION of George Redmond, native of Ferns, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 24th October, 1883, in the barony of Kilma- crenan, parish of Conwal, escaped from Letterkenny Bridewell when awaiting his trial for larceny of clothing from the dwelling- house of George Brown, of Drumganty, county Tyrone :— Small tender eyes, slightly hooked nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, slight hairs growing on his jaws; wore a tweed cap, old torn blue frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and old blue vest, had no boots or shirt on when he escaped ; is a tramp ; states he was a sailor. DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of Thurles, county Tipperary, who is in custody, charged with having, on the 23rd of October, 1883, in the barony of Newry, parish of Newry, stolen a gold watch and chain, and who may have committed offences elsewhere:— Prominent under lip, and narrow chin, very delicate appearance, dark full eyes, long nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a jerry bat, brown waterproof coat, brown trowsers, and blue vest; is a servant. Mary M'Cabe ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Galway. DESCRIPTION of a calf, the property of Robert Talbot, of Kilraderrada, county of Tipperary, N. R., which is supposed to have been stolen from the premises of Michael Weir, of Portumna, on the 15th November, 1883:— A yearling heifer calf, of the Limerick breed, yellowish red colour, a few white hairs on the back, and had a white star on the forehead, the hair over the right hip was cut, as if with a scissors, like a jobber's mark, had horns about half an inch long, and was a little high over the loins. DESCRIPTION of James Hughes native of Dun- cannon, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 27th day of October, 1883, in the barony of South Naas, parish of Gilltown, attempted to commit a rape on Eliza Downing. He was bound in his own recognizance to appear at Kilcullen Petty Sessions on the 19th instant, to answer to the above charge; he failed to appear, and a AVarrant has been issued for his arrest:— Military appearance, served in the Army, stout and active, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, full round face, stout make, 6 feet 2 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair,, shaved all his face, but when last seen was letting his beard grow; worea jerry hat and moleskin trowsers and vest with calico sleeves; is a nawy. Mathew Smith ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. William Tegan ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Maher, native of Maudlin, who on the 20th November, 1883, in the barony of Fassadineen, parish of Kilmacar, strayed away from his father's house at Maudlin, Castlecomer, and has not since been heard of, and it is feared that he may have met with foul play:— Cut mark on thumb of left hand nearly healed, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, rather long face, medium make, 4 feet 6 inches high, about 13 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, blue frieze coat, tweed trowsers and vest, and a pair of strong nailed boots ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey, native of Smiths- town, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, at Mullinavat, in " the barony of Knocktopher, parish of Kilbacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, from the effects of which his life is in danger :— May have fresh cut- marks on right hand, gray eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Piltown, October 27, 1883. ( 60805 c.— 8230.) DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey ( mother's name Mary Cashin), native of Smithstown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, in a public house, at M ullinavat, in the barony of Knock- topher, parish of Kilbeacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, by striking him on the forehead with a glass tumbler, from the effects of which his life is now in imminent danger, though he did not complain thereof until 16th instant:— Has a cut ( which may be now healed) on the palm of right hand, from the effects of the tumbler breaking therein when striking Dollard, clean face without either beard or whiskers, gray or blue eyes, regalar nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 7 J inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore" a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer, and it is believed he left for America on 16th instant. DESCRIPTION of Mary Shanaghan and Patrick Shanaghan, natives of 2l£, Meath- street, Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 20th October, 1883, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen two shawls out of a draper's shop £ t Parsonstown :— 1. Wants an upper front tooth, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 5 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloak and old dark dress; is a travelling gambler. tt 2. Mayo Domicick Gara ( assault), not arrestod; Hue- and- Cry, 4th September, 1883. Monaghan. DESCRIPITON of John Fay, native of Ballybay, who stands charged on suspicion with having, on the night of the 9th November, 1883, in the barony of Monaghan, parish of Monaghan, stolen an ass. tho property of John Fanning, of Ardaghey:— Shuffling gait, fair complexion, long fat face, stout male, 50 years of age, sandy hair; wore a 30ft hat, old brown coat, and dark trowsers ; is a travelling vagrant. Description of the ass:— A male ass, 4 years old, gray colour, long tail, • white nose, mark of angleberry on centre of belly ——* which was cut off some time ago; value for (£ 3) three pounds. DESCRIPTION of Martin Sheridan, native of Cor- bally, Portroe, who stands charged with having, on the 10th October, 1883, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Nenagh, stolen an ass, tackling, and car, the property of Michael Hurley, of Pallas, from the yard of Daniel Darcey, of Nenagh :— Sallow complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore an old dark coat and cord trowsers; very excitable, fond of drink, and talks loud when intoxicated; is a cattle drover. DESCRIPTION of Peter M'Mullin, native of Cadian, county Tyrone, who, on the 7th October, 1883, in the harony of Dungannon, parish of Clonfeacle, and townland of Cadian, disappeared from his residence at Cadian, and has not since been heard of; he showed symptoms of derangement of mind for a short time previous, and it is feared something wrong may have happened to him :— Stooped shoulders, and used a stick when walking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair; wore an old worsted cap, black coat, velvet on collar, black cord trowsers, and old brown vest. DESCRIPTION of William Hutcheson ( mother's surname Barton), native of Newtownstewart, who stands charged with having, on the 10th November, 1883, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Ardstraw, unlawfully absconded, taking with him a sum of money ( the amount at present unknown), the property of the Postmaster- General :— Fiat feet, shuffling gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard round hat, gray dust coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a postmaster. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 27th November, 1* 83, in the barony ol Talbots- town Lower, parish of Donard, and townland of Kilbaylet, stolen an ass, the property of Patrick Reilly :— 1. Pale complexion, thin face, stout make, low- sized, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers ; wore a round hat and blue pilot coat; is supposed to be a tramp. 2. Stout make, about 30 years of age ; wore a red plaid shawl. The man and woman were accompanied by a small spotted dog, either black and white or red and white. Description of the ass :— A light coloured gray gelding, about 2 years old, unshod; the head was of a lighter colour than the rest of the body ; value for about £ 2 10*. Dunlavin, November 28, 1883. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Faughnan ( mother's surname Hearon), native of Glosdrummon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 6th October, 1883, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, being one of a party who attacked the dwelling- house of John Boyle, of Edergole and seriously assaulted Boyle and his wife:— Wild gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair ; wore a soft low hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmers son. Limerick. • DESCRIPTION of Thomas Molony, alias James Ryan, native of Castleconnell, who stands charged with having, on the 26th October, 1883, in the barony of Coshma, parish of Adare, stolen from the residence of Patrick O'Donnell, of islanden, the following articles of wearing apparel:— One brown tweed frock coat, one pair shepherd plaid trowsers and vest, and one pair of shoes:— Smart appearance, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age; is a servant boy. DESCRIPTION of Samuel Purvis, alias Semple, who is supposed to have been taken from his home at Megargy, in the parish of Magherafelt, barony of Loughinshollin, and county of Londonderry, on the 27tli September, 1883. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Maguire, native of Longford, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 10th or morning of the 11th September, 1883, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, absconded from the Longford Workhouse Fever Hospital, accompanied by Mary Hayden who has since been arrested ( she being pauper attendant on the sick therein), taking with them several articles of clothing, tho property of the Guardians, viz.:— 2 shifts, 2 woollen handkerchiefs, and 4 petticoats, marked with the brand of the Longford Union. Marks of scrofula under chin, hazel eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair turning gray; wore the union clothing ; is a pauper. DESCRIPTION of nine head of cattle which were stolen off the lands of Clogrennan, parish of Killa- shin, and barony of Slievemargry, on night of 25th or morning of 26th instant:— Seven bullocks— one white colour, one gray, one red and white with pearl on left eye, one red colour with white spots on sides, and three principally red colour; two heifers— one small sized, red and white colour, and the other all red. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Murray, B 27 ( convict on licence), native of Roscommon, who stands charged with having, on the 26th November, 1883, in the barony of Brawney, parish of St. Mary's, had the following articles in her possession, which are believed to be stolen, viz.. 2 white calico night dresses trimmed with lace, 1 white calico wrapper also trimmed with lace, 1 white calico chemise, 1 pair of red flannel drawers :— Blue eyes, short thick nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 42 years of age, fair hair; is a dealer.
